If you visit a restaurant/bakery on a regular basis, as we did in New Malden at the end of May and beginning of June, 2023, you get to know a few details about it. The restaurant/bakery we visited is on the High Street of New Malden, London, England, and we were visiting from Canada. Our attention was compelled to this Manuels at 87 High Street because previously we had visited a Manuels in Wimbledon Park and found it to be excellent. The Manuels in New Malden turned out to be as excellent and -- over repeat visits -- we discovered why it is a popular spot. As a bakery, it is brilliant. The baked goods appear in a front window for passersby to see, as well as in glass cases inside the premises. The glass cases create a buffer between the server (he might be the owner) and the customers. From having visited a number of times, we discovered that the customers are both "take-out" purchasers as well as "dine-in" customers. The man who served us, whose name is Sundeep, seemed to have a raport with many customers, which leaves me to believe that they are regulars. We, as tourists, were simply visitors, but next time we are in New Malden we shall have coffee, sausage rolls, or baked goods at this Manuels. They were good! Importantly, the premises are spotlessly clean. The selection of breakfast, brunch, or lunch items was extensive and when we ordered something that needed to be hot on arrival at our table, it was hot! As a sidebar observation, we detected a community-involvement trait at this Manuels. They have a relationship with a local historical society and the decor at this restaurant/bakery involves a number of photos which tell about the history of New Malden. Interesting! This Manuels is an easy walk from the New Malden train station and situated in the midst of many charity shops; if you like to browse at chartiy shops! We would definitely return to Manuels in New Malden!

Very nice bakery and the manager is a very nice gentleman who clearly cares about the quality of his food and the cleanliness of his store. The Brownies at this place are sinfully delicious and the best I have had in London in the 7 years I have lived here.

I went in for a cream cake and there was an extensive amount of mould on the back. When I told the manager, he told me I already paid for it and did not give me a new one. The table was dirty and my water glass had lipstick stains on it. Very bad hygiene.

Love Manuels! A fabulous bakery for a start. Great choice if breads, croissants, pastries and so on. Fruit danish are fabulous. If you're lucky they'll have made a fresh batch of Portuguese custard tarts. And the savouries are top notch too. Homemade pasties, steak or chicken and chorizo, which had a nice bit of a spicy kick. Before the lockdown, you could enjoy a proper coffee and a decent brekkie in the sit down bit. In the mean time I'll be happy with the takeaway goodies!

A great place - simple decor and a high standard of cooking. Genuinely home-made treats and meals and if you look carefully you can see proper pastry being made in a proper bowl. Oh and the bread is fresh and tasty. A good selection to eat in or take away - a good addition to the High St.

As well as providing the best home made bread and cakes, just like in the old days, Manuel's has now been extended so that customers can eat in or take away. As well as home made bread and cakes you can have freshly made sandwiches - toasted if you wish - jacket potatoes, home made soup, home made lasagne, home made shepherds pie and a variety of cold and hot drinks. The best jam doughnuts and fruit scones and slices of whole cakes available too. So many choices it is sometimes difficult to know what to pick. The atmosphere is one of warmth and friendliness and everywhere is spotless. The staff are welcoming and very hard working and attracts a regular clientele. I am so grateful that New Malden is fortunate enough to have Manuel's in the High Street.

Was looking to have a good coffee and found this place. Amazing cup of coffee and freshly made Danish pastry. Service was great and friendly. If you are in new Malden and are dying for a great cup of coffee, don’t waste your time, go to Manuels. You will not be disappointed. They have 4 tables outside under the shade. Great place to watch the world go by.

The sunflower seed baguette is exquisite. The pastries are perfect. This is such a lovely little place and the charming top chap is there to greet you most days. So much better than the chain establishments. Easy to support local when it's this lovely.

I have been using this bakery for many years and remember when they baked the bread in Hampton Wick. Real bread with the taste of times gone by. Great selection of cakes and pies.a gem from the past.

Came across this bakery by chance There are definitely less expensive places on the high street But nowhere as good. Standards are really high: great coffee and pastries made on site. Not like some of the other places that just sell stuff from Lidl You should try it!

Once upon a time it was predominantly a bread shop. But the extremely friendly and efficient owner Sandeep (I hope I've spelt it correctly!) has transformed the place into arguably the best cafe on New Malden High Street, with superb home-made soups, fish pie and shepherd's pie on offer alongside a good selection of pasties, potatoes, sandwiches, cakes etc. Try the chocolate-coated flapjack! He serves good old-fashioned breakfasts too. A five-star hygiene rating. Highly recommended.

Had take away pastries previously from this place but my friend and I wanted a drink and I needed some lunch so thought best to stop in. They only accept cash so we had to come back. We ordered, I had a sandwich which was amazing. The pastry I had was slightly crusty when I think it was just out for too long. We could sit in or outside. We chose inside. The guy behind the counters was lovely and the cost was reasonable. Apart from the crusty pastry, worth a visit.

We were a large table celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. All our dietary requirements were met including 2 vegans within our group. All the dishes came together which isn't easy for a table of 15 All freshly cooked and plentiful, so much so we couldn't manage dessert! Fabulous cocktails , prosecco and Rose wine Highly recommended

From an açai bowl to a bacon buttie (please make sure you take advantage of everything this fantastic ‘Secret’ has to offer) your every need is met. We indulged in the passion fruit and white chocolate cake combined with the carrot cake served in a beautiful cake box and both completely moorish. The flat white was also delicious and the price was very reasonable.

I would not even give Fat Boys Cafe, Kingston one star!! Raw bacon, stale mushrooms. Extremely rude and impolite man taking orders at front desk. This place may be acceptable for people who do not know what a proper hot breakfast is, and polite customer service. Would highly avoid at all costs. Waste of money. Very disappointed.
