Having recently visited the tearooms on the same site as Mansfield Manor, I received a £100 parking fine (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days) which I have felt obliged to pay having been away on holiday in the meantime. The signage is a joke, having visited Mansfield Manor in the past, I will not be returning - the £60 I have been conned out of will be my last contribution! Also, I can't understand the charges midweek - the car park was only half full at most.

Wow how disorganised is this venue, we were greeted with oh we weren't expecting any wedding guests until 4pm ?? Bar service was appalling, guests queuing outside of the main doors, 40 mins plus to reach the bar, not enough seating for all guests, whoever the man was who appeared to be in ' charge ' is I would strongly suggest he books himself on a customer care course asap as he was beyond rude

Well what can i say a fantastic day from start to finish, the whole staff team did an amazing job, my special thanks to Keera who organised the whole day, nothing was to much trouble for her, the chef's cooked some delicious food and everyone was catered for, the waitresses / waiter's went that extra mile to make the wedding day an absolute dream, we wouldn't have changed a thing. What a dream of a day, the only bad thing i can say is that the day went far to quick. Thanks again to the whole team at Mansfield Manor

The broken window in the outhouse did not bode well and everything went downhill from there!Initial impression: nice house set in parkland; but as soon as you step over the threshold, if you are merely staying the night and not booking a wedding - you are a second-class citizen.Lack of interest was followed by a room with no electricity - phoning down to reception resulted in the question: "Are you sure?" To be fair, once we persuaded him that there was a problem - the man-of-all-work-who-did-everything did fix it.We knew that there was no food, but the bar was billed as opening - it did not! Recommended restaurants seemed to be in a different postcode; which is odd, as we found a nice pub just down the road!Breakfast was fine, but we still felt "de trop" and there was only one other guest - which was kinda creepy! The daytime receptionist was really nice - why do they not have her on all the time?

Never visited before so we didn't know what to expect! The place seemed quite airy when we first walked in, no music playing, just the sound of plates and people eating. We were seated in the back room which was decorated ok, and thankfully there was music playing, however it was the same three love songs on repeat and then silence until a member of staff came and pressed play again. Starter was nice, nothing special. Main was better! As for dessert that arrived literally just as I had put my knife and fork down!.. The bill came to £36 overall so cannot complain to much, I think we just expected more from previous reviews, the atmosphere let the place down

We held my dads wake here and were given empty promises. Told no else would be using the venue, waitresses in black and white and stay as long as wanted. The bar man/owner I think, was never behind bar we had to go looking for him and he was not very sociable or smiled. Waitresses not in black/white, plus Diane worn jeans sorting the food out. She also took all the food away after 2 hours saying it was health and safety! Towards early evening we were told to keep the noise down as there was a meeting in the next room,( the room we were told was ours she said nobody else coming in!). We were made to feel very uncomfortable and left. I would not recommend this place, purely on the 'people' skills of the owners.

Yesterday was the first time we had been & what a good choice. We came away feeling well fed & well looked after. The food was fresh, good portions & well presented. The beef was tender & tasty & the turkey my parents had was succulent & cooked to perfection. All three courses could not be faulted. I eat out about two/three times a week & can safely say Diane & Paul have got things just right, they are pleasant, approachable, friendly & willing to listen to any constructive criticism. They want the best for their diners & give time to get to know you & make you feel welcome. We can all find things to nic-pic at if we look hard enough, but what really upsets me is when people go away smiling but cowardly when they get home report a negative review, some comments I have read I would say are unjustified. I had not met Diane & Paul before but came away knowing that if I was uncomfortable about anything they would rectify it immediately. I asked Paul if he minded me pointing something out & he accepted my comment.& we chatted like friends. They are really trying to breath new life into the Manor & we should support them by giving them a chance & patting them on the back. The last owners ripped the heart out of the place & it will take a great deal of TLC to restore it back to the majestic, beautiful building it should be. It stands in wonderful grounds, surround by award winning gardens, lets support our local businesses & put the heart back into Mansfield. Keep up the good work & I look forward to a return visit.

The last reviews are correct. Small portions low quality food and cooking. They are prepared by a cook not a chef. Their profit margin must be high. No ambience no flare better food of the same could be had in any cafe. Tiny rainbow trout with strange looking potatoes. Sausages very small, tasty, tiny amount of veg and no onions or onion gravy in sight. The sweets..eton mess..fruit and whipped cream ? (s/b cream meringue and raspberries) cannot be anything else or it isn't eton mess. Treacle sponge..individual catering microwaved with thin custard. If they want repeat custom they must serve hearty, hot, filling WINTER WARMERS that live up to the name . They can do it for the price and still make a healthy profit. That's my advice although i shall not be returning to find out as their are much better places to eat in the area as i said better cafes.

Having recently had the misfortune to have a meal at the Mansfield Manor Hotel I can only describe it as eminently forgettable (hopefully!!) The glass of red wine purchased at the bar tasted closely related to children's cordial. The meal which followed was cool and the quantity was sufficiently small as to make the use of Gaviscon unneccessary. Quality made the size of the portions a relative blessing in disguise!! The teenage waiting staff could not be faulted and deserve to find a place where food served will make their efforts more appreciated. Needless to say we will not be making a return visit nor suggesting to our friends to put it on their "wish list"/

This was a cheap ready meal at best served with mixed cubed frozen veg, how much effort and expense would chopping a few carrots and boiling a few peas have been, perhaps a homemade gravy? Was embarrassed to have taken someone there and was not expecting this from a new business hoping for repeat business. Shame as in a beautiful park.

Was really looking forward to my groupon winter warmer lunch after the reviews we had read. It started bad when we waited twenty mins after being seated to even be offered a drink. One girl on the floor when the place was full didn't help. As we looked around there appeared several discontented people commenting on the poor service. When we eventually ordered our food came very quickly put the presentation was poor. I ordered penne pasta which sounded great but in fact was over cooked tasteless and came in a bowl with a pile of bolognaise sauce plonked on top with no dressing parmesan cheese etc. The bangers and mash was what it says on the tin with what can only be described as cheap gravy granules poured all over with soggy side vegetables. The fish pie was thrown on the plate and bland is about all that can be said. Due to the wait we were offered a free drink on the house and after asking for two soda with lime we received tonic and lime. When we brought this to the waitresses attention the manager eventually appeared and joked I must have put the wrong drinks together making us feel he really had no interest in the mistake and no sign of a replacement drink. Then we came to the puddings/deserts I found it strange that we were asked to order these at the same time as our main meal but when they came I realised why. Whilst we had spent so long waiting to order we had watched other peoples food slowly appearing and had seen big lovely plump round chocolate puddings coming out so thought they looked nice and a good portion. Wrong they had ran out but decided to cut up a full pudding into quarters and present that and assume we wouldn't notice. As for the rice pudding stodgy tasteless with the burnt skin topping still left in the bowl and a little cream added in the hope it would loosen it up. On a plus side when we decided to decline the coffee due to the couple next to us getting theirs without the offer of cream/milk sugar or anything and then standing up and confronting the waitress before leaving in disgust I asked for my bill. They had not charged me for an additional meal we had ordered so when I brought this to the managers attention he was quite clearly glad to see the place close and we leave due to the really poor service and food quality we had witnessed during our stay by not charging me for the food. I cant believe the reviews on here paint the place in such a good light when my own experience is they should be ringing Gordon Ramsey to show them how to do things right. I have never visited this place before and although this may have been a bad day I can't see why anyone would want to put themselves through this experience.

Came here for Sunday lunch. From the outside the place seemed nice and we were looking forward to it. That's were it stopped. When we arrived the service was a disaster to say the least. Was told we had to wait 30 mins for our table that we booked (not a problem as people do over run) However this was a sign of things to come. Easily the worst restaurant I have eaten in. Food quality very poor, staff very rude, decor with a quick glance looks nice but on further inspection the finish is DIY at best. Hair in food. Waiting 50 minutes for the starter. Was never offered a drink. 3 other groups walked out as they waited over an hour for a main! If we had not already of paid for the Groupon we would of been straight out. Attempted to speak to the Lady who seemed some sort of management but was not interested in our feedback and was very rude. Had a really nice Sunday afternoon meal out at the Manfield Manor Hotel/ Restaurant, starter was perfectly proportioned, just right to get the appetite going, tasty pate and artisan bread with a good freash green salad, very enjoyable, then the main, roast beef and yorkie for me and my wife had the roast turkey, both with seasonal veg, which were not over cooked, possibly a littel al-dente for some tastes, by very much still full of flavour, the beef was tender and the turkey not in any way dry, finished off wth fruit flan and ice cream (my good lady) and I had the fudge cake and ice cream, then liquer coffees, the only thing that otherwise made me sit up was £4.85! for a large glass of wine (250ml), wine was nothing special, just the house red! Too much, but otherwise a very enjoyable meal and I can honestly recomend the food and service which were both exemplory.I will definitely be visiting again, and have already recommended the venue to a number of my work collegues.

Just visited Mansfield Manor on a Groupon deal for Sunday lunch. Did not live up to expectations having read previous reviews. Firstly we were not offered pre dinner drinks then after ordering dry white wine red wine appeared. The choice of starters was very limited (soup and pâté). We ordered soup with " crusty roll". Soup was only just warm and the roll was far from crusty! When asked if everything was ok and this was then relayed to the kitchen we were asked if we wanted the soup replaced, which we declined. The main course was very disappointing and again was not hot. The dessert menu was very unimaginative for example Black Forest gateau, chocolate fudge cake etc. Perhaps the Groupon voucher reflected the meal we received!

We went on a Saturday on a Groupon "Winter Warmer" which we felt was very good value. Although we had booked for 1.30. our table wasn't ready until 1.45. There was no-one on reception and only one person doing bar service and waiting. There were 12 people in the dining room and the service was slow. Stew and dumplings came without the dumplings, game pie is no longer on the menu and we had to ask for salt and pepper. The portion of cheesecake was tiny. Mini cheeseboard came with four small pieces of cheese, three biscuits and a fork. Apparently a Saturday is not normally so busy, which is why there were no staff!! Although we appreciate that the new owner is trying hard to get the business going, he needs to try a lot harder on Saturday.

First time here for a carvery and it didn't disappoint. Meats were cooked to perfection for me, roasties tasted amazing. Very reasonable priced for a Sunday carvery. Customer service was great especia
