Manos in Oxford

I go here for coffee on my way home from work, even though it takes longer to do so. This is because the staff are so warm and friendly, I always leave feeling happy. Excellent place, and lovely biscuits!

I gave a review of this place in October 2014 and the response I got back from Manos is that they are not a Restaurant. I copied the following text from the Manos website which clearly shows you do advertise yourselves as a restaurant...... "If you have a special occasion coming up, host a meal or party at our restaurant." To reiterate the food was a poor standard which was not cooked right through, obviously using microwaves to cook with which explains why it was cooked on the outside but cold on the inside and swimming in water.

Always welcomed with a lovely smile & friendly staff. Incredible wraps, and the best hummus I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

Huge lunchtimes wraps, very tasty and good value for the price. Friendly staff and nice deli produce. Can eat-in in the garden, or take-away.

Bit of a late review but have visited a few times when in this area of oxford. Food is always good and the outside seating area is lovely in the sun. Must visit again soon before the sun leaves us.

Went for a takeaway ‘melt’ for lunch. Got a piece of pitta with some cheese on. £7. Too expensive. Pretty yummy - but off to get a proper lunch now!!

my family ordered the spanakopita pie and various salads to eat at home to celebrate my husbands birthday. The staff were so helpful and thoughtful and the food was amazing- we will be back to try other foods from the menu. Thanks so much for making a lockdown birthday special. Highly recommend .

After finding nearly every single place on the street was fully booked and had no space; myself and my girlfriend took a chance on this place. What a brilliant surprise. We were welcomed in warmly by the gentleman behind the counter. He explained to order at the counter, all cool with me. Food was brilliant, very tasty and good value. £25 for two mains and two beers. The Greek side salad on the plate was a particular highlight. Friendly staff, good value, high quality food.

This little cafe in the Covered Market is very inviting, with excellent Greek food and a comfortable atmosphere. My friend and I were browsing the menu posted by the door when the owner invited us in, finding us a table and immediately giving us menus to browse. It didn't take long to be served a delicious plate of hummus, pita, a small salad, and yummy olives. The price was very reasonable, the food was great. We promised to write a review, and here it is. Don't miss this gem, you will love it!

Mediocre food. Unfortunately previous post saw a lot of negative feedback from Manos poster. In general I was supportive of the authentic food but criticizing the constant microwave use with loosely calibrated warming times. Sorry but food was in fact cold on inside, hot on outside. Be open to some criticism otherwise how can one improve a business? Food is indeed authentic but honestly it's a bit disorganized and ruined by heating inconsistency of its prep. Food is a bit salty/heavy compared to versions of the dishes I've had made by Greek friends/authentic restaurants.

An absolute gem find. Amazing little place for breakfast and great food! Lovely staff who made sure everything was cooked well and that there was no issues. We ordered some baklava to take away because of how good the food was. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the covered market in oxford.

While wandering around Oxford we fancied a coffee and found here. Staff lovely. Daughter had one of their chai latte which she declared the best ever!

Came across this cafe whilst in the covered market and was persuaded to give it a try but the owner (very politely). We both ordered a club sandwich and I have to say it was the best I have ever tasted! On warm ciabatta with guacamole, it was delicious! Would definitely recommend!!

The salads are a great value, and delicious made in the traditional greek style (no lettuce). The feta cheese here is so good!

I stopped by the cafe in the covered market for lunch over the bank holiday weekend. The spanokopita was great and the service was lovely! Will definitely go back next time I'm in Oxford.

We dropped in for a light dinner around 8 pm on a Thursday evening. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. There were quite a few choices, both with meat and vegetarian. Nice small garden at the back.

Really enjoyed our food here. Reasonable price. Would be 5 stars but took about 45 minutes to get a simple baguette & soup, so 3 stars instead. People who arrive 20 minutes after us got more complex meals about 5 minutes after us. Makes me think our food was forgotten. I went up after to ask and was brushed off with ‘don’t worry, nobody has eaten your food’. Our food then arrived 2 minutes later.

We called in on Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch. It was immediately clear that they were understaffed, as most tables had not been cleaned. We always enjoy food from Manos but when we tried to order we were told that they had no more of the thing we ordered, despite the fact there was a bowl of it in the counter. It being clear the staff wanted rid of us, we obliged.

Comida muy decente - mi spanakopita era precioso. Sin embargo, el servicio fue muy decepcionante. La sirvienta abrió nuestras bebidas gaseosas prometiendo que traerá vasos y hielo de inmediato, 30 minutos después, solo trajo un vaso. No hay necesidad de mencionar para entonces que nuestras bebidas estaban totalmente desteñidas. Cuando se le pidió educadamente que trajera un vaso más, como le habíamos pedido antes, ella contestó bruscamente: "si tiene que hacerlo, tendrá que conseguirlo usted mismo". No volveremos a pesar de la comida encantadora.

Very tasty food. The selection could be bigger but we have tried three different vegetarian plates with selection of Greek food. Everything was super fresh and tasty. We really enjoyed our meal. Friendly service is only a plus.

El domingo nos fuimos no tenían algunos de los platos en el menú, pero eso no importa cuando llegó nuestra comida. Estuvimos totalmente satisfechos ya que el tamaño de la porción era excelente.

I enjoyed 3 lunch meals here during my recent Oxford Trip and loved all of them. 2 of these were sit-down lunch and I took a takeaway once. The wraps served by them are very wholesome, delicious and nutritious too. I tried the Meatballs and Chicken Souvlaki wraps, both of which I immensely enjoyed. The service is quite prompt too even when the place was completely full! This a definite must-visit place for everyone visiting Oxford.

My partner and I were visiting Oxford without any set plans for dinner and as we wandered through Jericho we found Manos. We had a lovely evening there, delicious food, lovely staff and cosy atmosphere.

We wanted a quick bite and found it at Manos. The greeting was friendly and cheerful and the food very tasty. My wife had an avocado salad - I went for the "Atkins" type breakfast - recommended.

Completeing the reputation of Walton Street Jericho as 'The Ethnic Restaurant

La comida es sabrosa, nada que decir por ese lado. Pero tiene precios de restorán y la comida está en una vitrina y te la calientan cuando la pides. If you like Greek or Mediterranean food Manos is a lifesaver in Oxford. Our favorites are fresh greek salad, imam bayildi, hummus and Spanakopita with uzo. The only problem is they are using a microwave to heat the dishes.

If you fancy something Greek, hot or cold, this is the place to come. Had the Hot Meze, well it was pretty cold outside which was quite filling and warming. Good selection of authentic Greek food. Well worth a visit

Ya por la tarde, nos sentimos atraídos por el simple, pero acogedor de la fachada y las buenas críticas que habíamos visto en línea. Cuando caminar en nos advirtieron que había sido un día ajetreado, así que tenía muchas opciones de comida y que tendríamos que esperar un par de minutos hasta que el camino, en la cocina, pero que serían más que bienvenidos para servirnos y también. Manos is a decent place to eat, the menu never changes so you know that everything is reliable, it's great for a quick lunch or a takeaway wrap and I don't think they try to make themselves out to be a fancy fine dining establishment...

Después de haber visitado una vez antes para una rápida meze cine comprobar nos quedamos bastante impresionados sin embargo al regresar para la cena sentí decepción. Promete buena comida casera. Puede también ser preparado en casa, pero luego entregado y calentarse en microondas. Que visite Grecia 3 - 4 veces al año y nunca he visto un microondas en uso. Si esto no te molesta, entonces no tendréis problemas, pero no veo cómo se puede cocinar en un microondas un soulvaki. Aunque parece Everytrhing fresco.

Visit here regularly on weekends however the past 4 or 5 times I have been to get a take away wrap, the service is SO slow! Today took 25 minutes to get my wrap to take away, had at least 3 people given their takeaways before me even though they had ordered well after me and I was on a 30min lunch break..I understand lunch time gets busy but this was nearing 3pm. Barista was only able to make 4 coffees in that entire time & had very little oomph to her work pace (as per every time I go in). Other female worker seemed rushed off her feet and male chef blatantly frustrated at both workers. Not even an apology for the wait. Not sure why I keep going back but I can say after today I won't be bothering wasting my lunch break on watching other people's food being made.

My husband and I often ate at this small Greek place when we lived in Oxford. I was especially fond of their falafel wraps for lunch; for about 5 quid, you could get a huge wrap that was basically an entire lunch plate all wrapped up and ready to go! The coffee is good too, so if you're looking for a quieter place on Walton Street, it's a great option.

Authentic Greek food. As in Greece you also get to order from the displayed food. Their dishes were delicious, authentic and reasonably priced. The hospitality was also very friendly.

Good greek snack. I enjoyed their houmous, tsatziki and Tarama. Wraps were excellent as well. Prices are quite cheap : 20 pounds for 2 including drinks, starter and main course.I recommend it without any hesitation

Two wraps, two drinks and one side came to over £20. I would be happy to pay this in a restaurant but this is not one; its a cafe with the atmosphere and options of a cafe. A stuffed pepper will set you back £8.95. Overpriced.

Came here for lunch with colleagues for the first time and had a really lovely time sitting out in the garden. The staff were wonderful, friendly and brought out all our food quickly. I ordered the vegan falafel souvlaki, it was around £6 and as you can see from the photo you get a lot of food for your money! It was filled with the most tasty falafels, salad & cous cous - falafel wrap is pretty much the standard vegan option at most cafes but this was definitely the best I've had. Great atmosphere, fantastic food, very reasonable price. Will be visiting again!

We just wanted a greek coffee and their web site says they open until 10pm. We walked in at 8:40pm to be told they were closing at 9 AND that they 'didn't serve from 8:30pm'. Appalling service from a previously visited and very nice cafe. Shan't bother again.

As a vegetarian, I'm often on the lookout for something different for lunch than the standard "chickpeas with chickpeas" offerings of most sandwich makers. I discovered Manos in late 2014, and was delighted at the vegetarian Greek wrap (and on a lunch meal deal!) which was literally bursting at the seams and utterly delicious.Despite being on Walton Street in plain sight, this gem tends to be overlooked in favour of the eateries further down the street. In the summertime the rear garden is a beautiful place to sit under the grapevines and enjoy a little sunshine with your lunch!

We went to Manos for dinner. The place was half empty and didn't really feel like a restaurant (more like a eat at the counter short of feeling). There were many options on the menu, with wraps being the focus as mains. The food is quite good but definitely not spectacular. While it is marketed as Greek, I would be more inclined to call it Greek-adjacent. Hummus, falafel, and the sort draw heavily from the Middle-Eastern cuisine but as far as I could tell were well made. There were variations of famous greek foods like "papoutsakia", which are typically aubergines stuffed with minced meat and covered with bechamel sauce, presented here stuffed with rice. Their "spanakopita" (spinach pie) was good but I had the nagging feeling that it was of the frozen variety and not home made. All dishes were pre-cooked and microwave-heated on order. That being said, the prices were good and we had a feeling and satisfying meal for a rather cheap price. We tried Greek desserts and were very happy with them.

Many coffee shops in Oxford - in particular those on and near Broad Street - are very overcrowded in the afternoon. So Manos is a great alternative if you're looking for a relatively quiet and light place that is slightly off the tourist tracks. As most people seem to come here for lunch or dinner, you will normally always find a seat in the afternoon. Coffee is good and relatively cheap, and they have delicious sweets. The savoury Greek food is also good. Staff is adorable.

It was one of the warmest evenings of the year and we were able to sit outside on the terrace behind the cafe.The covering trellis was draped with bright green vine leaves, planted ten years ago , when the cafe first opened.I know its a cliche but it really did feel like being back in Greece.The first word that comes to mind is honest. Honest food, honest prices and honest service. I cannot think why I have not been here before. Too much time spent at restaurants much more heavily promoted.All your Greek favourites are on the menu and the souvlaki was superb. A good house red wine. Enjoy.

This is a beautiful little restaurant in a quiet part of town with all you might expect from a reataurant producing excellent, homecooked, delicious Greek food. The souvlaki here is always a winner. I think I'll go back again soon. Excellent coffee and desserts too. The people running the place are fantastic and make it a place to keep returning to.

The food here seems authentic and almost home cooked. Not gourmet but good Greek fare. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The service was casual. The staff very concerned about closing time but I think that only bothered me as I found the closing time quite a surprise.

What I like about Manos, apart from the delicious Greek food, is the lack of fuss: it has a lovely relaxed yet sociable feeling to it which is what eating in Greece is all about. It is a little place with big windows through which you can watch Oxford life go by... and a pretty little vine-shaded garden out back. I like the baked dishes particularly and the zingy tzatziki and very fresh salads. A good place to meet friends for a relaxed meal.

Portions are quite small for how much it costs and the food is decent but not the best. They also run out of stuff quite quickly.

The meat special should be called the meat surprise. I had a chicken dish that was so over cooked I could taste the pot it was boiled in. For authentic Greek food you're better off going to the giant market or london

Been looking for a Greek restaurant in oxfordshire, and came across Manos. Not very posh inside, staff very friendly. Food was delicious, I had a mixed starter and for main stifado, the beef was so tender. Had a nice bottle of Greek wine, which was very reasonably priced. I will definatley go to Manos again.

Walked past and decided to have lunch here. We went for the cold veggie platter and hot meat platter, both came with a drink as part of their lunch deal. They tasted good and were served quickly.

Firstly I would just like to say that the food although not spectacular was good and for the cost certainly worth it hence the average review. We tried the hot meat mezze platter and this is where the fun begins.The first attempt came to us and upon closer inspection there was no meat at all so we questionned this to discover we had actually been given the veggie version instead.The member of staff was adamant that we had asked for this and was really put out that we asked for what we had ordered to be made.On returning after a further 10mins we thought great here it comes to then have the moment where one plate ended up on the floor and part of the other joined it. At this point you would think that 2 new fresh meals would be made but no this member of staff put the half full plate down and said she would get one fresh meal made. We asked to have 2 new complete meals made which again was met with utter disdain even though we had now been waiting 45 mins to get our lunch.Eventually we did get the order we had asked for and it was tasty but we feel that some lessons in service certainly need to be made as giving people half the meal they ordered is not really the way forward.We feel that if the service did improve we would certainly look to return.

Pretty good, homemade Greek food at a reasonable price. First time I ordered the Spinach and Feta pie, which I wasn't overly impressed by (needed more seasoning for my tastes, but realise that's a personal preference), and had me eyeing up boyf's plate jealously. Second time I ordered the coveted hot meat meze and it was great. Both were quite big portions, so go hungry, but I think it's a good shout.

Ho provato il souvlaki wrap greco servito ( purtroppo troppo freddo) con ottime e salatissime olive greche e la spanakopita piuttosto Buona! Le cameriere sono davvero lente nel servizio mentre il proprietario e cuoco è molto simpatico e pronto a dispensare consigli!

We walked here from the centre of Oxford, its really not far but worth it. Food is lovely and you can sit by the window watching everything go by. Had a meal then took some extras home to try. Would definitely come back.

We wanted a buffet for our pre-Xmas party. For once we decided not to cook or prepare anything and wanted to source it locally, but not from a supermarket. We had spanikopita in mind and so decided to do the whole thing Greek.Manos was very accommodating and offered a good choice from which we placed an order by email. We picked it up the morning of the party and enjoyed a coffee and chat with him while we were there. On arrival back home we could not find one dish - baked sausages in wine. On phoning Manos he was about to call because he had found the dish. With no fuss at all he offered to drive it out of Oxford to our house after work - he could not have been more polite.The food was a hit - everyone loved the spread, particularly the spanikopita and sausages. We fortunately over-ordered and had enough Baklava left over for morning coffee :)We are looking forward to eating there in future :)

This place looks like it serves Greek food. Not really. It is sort of similar to Greek, like someone who read about the cuisine and has tried to create it. Nice people, no real expertise in service. Sells Greek foodstuffs.

The trouble with Greek food is that it does not travel well. When you eat out on holiday in a Greek Taverna with the sun beating down and fish are nibbling your toes that are dipped in the Agean Sea, life does not get much better. When it is a cold miserable night in Oxford where you have had to park your car about a mile away and the rain is lashing down, it is not quite the same. None of this is the fault of Manos and they do their best to provide you with authentic Greek food and the service is very good. I thought the portions for the main course were on the small side but again to be fair they are not too expensive. If I could park outside I would probably go again but not if I have to walk a long way in the pouring rain.

it's not expensive, but Greek food can be so much better. i don't think i will go back again but i won't refuse going back if my friends want to go either.

Eat out here last night. The food is tasty, not expensive and the staff are lovely. My friend left her handbag in the restaurant and the lovely waitress who served us ran across the road before we disappeared from view. The food is fresh, the Greek Kouros wine lovely and it's clean as clean can be. Highly recommended if you're in Walton Street, Oxford.

Not somewhere we'd actually ever thought about going to but we were given a voucher for a meal for two with drinks so we went. It really is very good and even though it's in a fairly trendy area of Oxford we felt it does have a genuine feel of Greece.The meal was really good & we both conciously chose something classically Greek.The service was very much first class.Next time we're nearby & need a meal we will go again.

Based upon the most recent positive Tripadvisor reviews, I made a point of eating at Manos this last Sunday lunchtime. Am delighted to say that I agree with them all and hope that I'll go again soon. Indeed, the rear garden is a delight and a haven of tranquillity, perfect shade being provided by genuine vines with bunches of grapes hanging down. This was further enhanced by such pleasant sunny weather (and a few glasses of excellent Kouros red and Maramatina Retsina wine) and I can think of a few less sunnier-days in the beautiful country of Greece herself. Not only is the moussaka, baklava, tramosalata, pitta and Greek salad probably as good as it gets in the home counties, but the service is excellent. It being Sunday, one hard working and totally professional young lady was almost solely in charge of serving a significant number of diners, and deserves every congratulation. Nothing took too long, nothing was too much trouble, especially when I changed my mind about the brand of the already uncorked Retsina which was swiftly replaced by my preferred make.I do apologise. Not only are prices extremely reasonable, I've never before seen such a variety of actual Greek wines, home-cooked food and other products on display within any other UK Greek establishment. The whole experience reminded me quite a lot of my favourite Greek Restaurant in Athens - God's Kitchen.Many thanks for providing such a pleasant and atmospheric Aegean experience.Top Marks !!

Our group of ten was celebrating surviving another year of learning Greek and Manos (recommended by our tutor) was an excellent venue. It's not very swanky: cafe + deli is a better description than restaurant but the food was really good (votes of approval around the table for the spetsofai, spanakotiropita, imam bayildi, souvlaki and the mezes) and the service was OK too. (I think such a big group must be unusual). It proved ideal for our get together.

I have eaten there tonight with my sister and I particularly enjoyed the mezze platter which was a generous portion of four starters. Then we had a tasty moussaka and spanakopita, served with sauces (tzaziki and hummous) and greek salad. The staff was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately the place is small and closes early at night, but it is perfect for an early dinner with friends. It also offers take away and sells typical greek products. Previously we also enjoyed a good espresso and baklava there. This place has excellent value for money.

Lovely place with wonderful attendants. The food was lovely. Was here for dinner with friends and had a lovely time. Planning to come back again.

Lovely greek deli serving food to eat in or take away. I had a wrap which was pleasant but my boyfriend had the moussaka which was delicious. Nice for a quick lunch/relaxed dinner but not somewhere to go for a fancy night out.

Amazing falafel wrap! I'm here for work and have been there 3 times already this week. I probably should try somewhere new but it's SO GOOD!
