Miserable staff slow service overpriced

Ice cream is top rate. Probably the best I have ever tasted.

This is a lovely ice cream cafe serving homemade ice-cream cafe. It is on the more expensive side for ice cream but it's definitely worth it! The cafe also serves cakes, drinks and various breakfast items. The cafe itself has lots of seating and it's just generally a nice place to relax and hang out with your friends!

The blond chap did not acknowledge the line for 5 minutes ( he was on the phone but did not bother to hint that he’s gonna be a while) - came back v rude and entitled, horrible experience compared to george & david in town centre- avoid

Popped in for ice cream (post dinner nearby). Not amazing taste-wise. Just average. * Looked welcoming from the curb. Good service. * Plenty of seats if we wanted to. Absultely family friendly or groups. Whilst deciding/ordering 4 separate waffle cones, I nipped to the toilet. * A good variety of flavours. * The place was clean and casual. (suppose it was a good thing not reading previous low reviews for a ‘dirty’toilet). My review is slightly delayed as tricky to find listing on TA as name neither George & Davis or G&D! Lol A small group of 3 locations, all in Oxford. We definitely visited this location.

Honestly the best ice cream in Oxford. I’ve had lots of different flavours and I’ll have to say pistachio was my favourite. The bagels are also so good. The staff always feel so welcoming and friendly.

Fantastic choice of original ice cream flavours as well as yummy filled bagels. Very helpful staff and a great atmosphere.

I have visited this group of venues a number of times and always delighted with the desserts BUT the toilets were utterly disgusting! No soap no hand towels and overflowing bins. Dirty unkempt and poor maintenance. Took two of my party highlighting the issue before someone even went to look!

Wish I found this place earlier. Last day in oxford, one of the few places open at like 9 am, very good espresso and cappuccino, also the brookies were good. Cute design. And way cheaper than the others in our limited experience in oxford. Recommended!

Nice food, friendly staff, but a bit noisy.

Excellent quality ice cream with interesting flavor options. Extremely friendly staff. For working/reading the music is a bit loud but everything else highly recommended.

Today we were served by James. We have been here multiple times and so far the best server yet. He has a smile on his face and I feel like I got the value for my money. Will definitely come back. Go James!

ice cream was delicious but one of the seats was crawling with bedbugs that went up my arms and bit my legs… not the cafés fault, but it was really alarming, i hope they can solve this issue before more people end up taking bedbug infestations from here back to their homes

Don’t go here if you’re over 20 years. My husband and I had a lovely stay in Oxford and we wanted to end the evening with a coffee. We walked in and a ‘girl’ was busy cleaning the coffee area, a chap was putting something in the microwave. Neither acknowledged our presence we waited and waited expecting some acknowledgement of our presence. We thought maybe they were closing. We went outside to check the opening hours. They were not closing and saw two students go inside and who were immediately served. We walked back in asked to have a coffee and was told we would need to wait for a few minutes by the chap; who was by the way quite polite. I did say well we did wait before and we were ignored and the ‘girl’ then decided to speak to us with a real attitude and told us she was busy cleaning. We decided this was not a nice place to end our break. I’m guessing the ‘girl’ doesn’t like anyone over 20. And believe me this is not written by an old ‘out of touch’ person. We live in Brighton and I can tell you we haven’t met with the kind of rudeness we at all in all our years in Brighton. As they say take a chill pill darling.

Ice cream is really good! A bit disappointed with the number of options available. It seems available flavours are per day. Did try Oreo and assim (2 scoops almost £6 but 3 scoops not much more). Long queue - service a bit slow.

I had pistachio ice cream which was delicious. However the young lady who served me was miserable, moody and showed very little care. I'll still go back as the ice cream is totally worth the visit.

Spacious. They give free ice cream every Tue and Thu if you manage to put the plush into the basket. Forgot what it's called.

Visited here on a recent break to Oxford - the ice cream is delicious and the bagels good too. Nice staff. Unfortunately, and I can see someone else has commented on this a year ago....the loos were dirty, look like they have not been cleaned in years - dirt and hair at the back of the loo seat and the loo roll dispenser. Put me off a bit having eaten there.

The staff who served me is very nice and friendly. I ordered a regular size cappuccino, tasty fresh but small cup than usual. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant. The environment is clean and not too crowded. Most of the customers are young age.

We had super chocolate and after midnight chocolate ice cream. Both were very tasty but super chocolate won between the two choices! Just the price is on a higher side.

We have been coming here for years - the icecream remains great but the service is appalling. Have been here twice in two weeks and faced this. The female server continued a conversation with a friend ignoring us while we waited to be served. Her demeanour makes it very clear she doesn’t want to be serving anyone! the young man who served us today was really wonderful though. This young lady is serving icecream - adding a small smile would make the experience nicer for the customers.

One of the best cafes in Oxford!! The food is AMAZING, and not overly expensive. Plus there is ice cream and a kind and great atmosphere and people. Also there is free WIFI. :D <3

Just like its sister outlet in the centre of the city, G&D is renowned for its ice creams, waffles and more. No late night is complete in Oxford without having a G&D dessert to round the evening off.

Stopped by on our way to the Ultimate Picture Palace for a waffle and ice cream. They had a wide range of very unique flavours. The staff was really accommodating and attentive and she even let us try out flavours when we were making up our minds. We got 2 flavours, the DAIM & Super Chocolate on a waffle with toppings. The super chocolate was really rich and thick, and the portion was enough without making you feel sick while the DAIM had crunch to it. Slightly disappointing was the waffle which felt undercooked, had more of a floury / doughy texture than crispy. Topped with melting ice-cream, it felt like wet bread that ruined the dish than a companion to the ice cream. Additionally, when taking our utensils, we noticed that they were not cleaned very thoroughly, some food particles from previous patrons were still on the fork, and the other knives and forks had (what I hope to be) water spot stains. Overall, great flavours, but could improve on the other factors.

First time visiting but not the last. Delicious fresh to order bagels and the lads behind the counter kindly changed gloves on my request! Waffles were super fluffy. Affordable price for the quality. Service was friendly and efficient. 100% reccomend. Lovely place and fab staff, but I’m pretty sure their oat milk was off :( It tasted absolutely disgusting. Happened to a friend of mine too, he spoke to the staff but without much response. Tasted really awful, barely touched my latte. This is a great venue I had the very good salmon and cream cheese bagel, the excellent Flapjack, and a great coffee. The staff were friendly and efficient. Thanks.

Good food, nice atmophsere where you can sit and relax with your laptop, very useful for students. Only comments is the toilet. There are stains of blood and pee on the toilet paper dispenser as well as on the sink. Judging by the amount of dust accumulated as well as the yellow stains, the toilert hasn't been cleaned apart from the basic mopping in ages. Come on people, hygiene is really important, we eat and drink over there, and we need to feel that we know where to touch when we go to the toilet!

I'm Australian and have been desperate for a good quality "dirty chai latte" since arriving in the UK. George & Delilah didn't strictly have this on the menu, but made it for me anyway. Just like home!

Their bagels are good. A nice place to have coffee and read.

What a fantastic place. Nice to find a sensibility priced place to come for a coffee. Staff are pleasant and friendly. Have a great playlist of varied music too. If playing Pokémon Go it’s in reach of 4 pokestops and gym.

Ordered the “veggie pizza bagel (VE)” and the “Veggie bagel melt (VE)” on Deliveroo which states they are vegan and uses a vegan mozzarella however they both were sent using dairy cheese which both myself and my friend are extremely intolerant to. Sadly it was too late when we clocked onto that the cheese wasn’t vegan friendly. I called up asking for them to confirm if it was vegan cheese or not to which we were told nothing specifies to them that they need to use vegan cheese…. But it’s what their menu specifies they use. Sadly now we have to suffer the physical consequences of this.

Love the wide choice of bagels here! The pizza bagels taste so good! But the one I prefer is the Greek salad bagel. The feta cheese and hummus combination is great!

Wonderful ice cream and the bagel sandwiches are good. But the ice cream wins honeycomb with coffee or the popcorn flavor are hands down the best

Just happened to stumble upon this place & we really loved it. Nice selection of breakfast, snacks & ice cream. The ice cream flavors are rather unique It is really creamy but not too sweet & you get a generous portion..Great place to bring kids to on the weekend for brunch or snacks. However, it seems more like a student hang-out & always busy. The queue moves rather slowly & you do need to wait for a bit to get your order. Still worth a visit!

Went to G&Ds today and felt very good buying my after eight ice cream :)!! The taste was not as memorable as I remembered but I am glad that it is open till late despite of the current situation :) Will be even better if they have a plastic shield and masks for the staff member! Update: 20th November 2021: great atmosphere and rum and raisin and mint ice cream was lovely!! Lovely staff and nice chai latte as well :) more savoury pastry could be nice as well. Student discounts will be great as well.

Absolutely fantastic place for icecream ! They also have decent menu for munching on something light, but it's the icecream of G&D that stands apart. While the G&D in city centre of Oxford closes early in the evening, the G&D at Cowley road stays open till midnight. I have now tried most of the flavours at G&D and my personal favourite is Turkish Delight.

Ordered mango sorbet, raspberry and lemon sorbet (I think) and the new york blues ( i think. basically its blueberry cheesecake or something). the sorbets were just normal but the new york blues was SOOOOOOO nice!!! Probably one of the best milk based ice creams I've ever had. It was super creamy and I just loved it.

Can't go wrong with a visit to G&D's! They make the best bagels and you can buy just the bagels in 4's to take home, definitely the way forward especially for a cheeky bagel breakfast!

A lovely place with the exhaustive menu, slightly more dishes are on the sweet side but there is a good choice of meals for vegetarians. My daughter and me thoroughly enjoyed their sesame seed and poppy seed bagels filled with soft cheese and salmon or tuna.The staff are strict on seating and tell you where to sit which was a bit regimental and old school like - a bit off putting really. Other than that a pleasant and highly satisfactory culinary experience all around coupled with nice views and cleanliness.

Thought I would pre-order for collection as the service is normally a little slow but the bagels are worth it, arrive for collection to be told havent been done and then found on the system, was told would be made right away, for the lady to then serve 2 people and make there food before mine, so what should of been a 1pm collection was a 1.30pm takeaway! Lunch break gone! No apology either.

Intenté entrar ayer para tomar un helado y un café después de una comida fuera, solo íbamos a comer algo, así que dejamos las máscaras en el auto a una milla de Cowley Road y decidimos ir a por el postre en el último minuto, sin embargo, no quisieron. Caminemos por los dos escalones hasta la zona de asientos sin una máscara y fuimos realmente groseros con nosotros en la puerta. Ninguno de los dos somos irrespetuosos de ninguna manera y tampoco tenemos la intención o intentamos romper las reglas que nadie en el área de asientos tenía una máscara, ya que es un café. Podríamos haber sido personas que no podían usar una máscara por razones de salud, sino que simplemente nos trataban como leprosos. Somos clientes frecuentes de g y d's e incluso los tuvimos en nuestra boda, pero realmente nos decepcionó que no pudieran ser un poco más razonables. Todavía estaríamos a más de dos metros del mostrador y no había clientes en la zona de comida para llevar. Definitivamente no fue el crimen del siglo.

Visité para tomar un café y un bagel mientras hacía un poco de trabajo / lectura. Estuve en la cafetería unos 20 minutos antes de que un miembro del personal me preguntara si iba a tardar mucho más, ya que necesitaban la mesa. No había terminado mi bagel, ni mi café. Entiendo durante COVID - 19 que no quieren gente en su lugar durante una gran cantidad de tiempo, pero a nadie más se le preguntó si estaban casi terminados o para su mesa. Lo que es más decepcionante es que todos los demás en la cafetería habían estado más tiempo que yo y habían terminado de comer y beber.

Reasonably priced, delicious bagels and ice cream. They're always happy to make adjustments to bagels for vegetarians. It's become my go to place on Cowley Road.
