Customer friendly, mushroom soup was excellent! Would highly recommend this place.

Went in for the roast on the reopening. Fantastic food and plenty of it. Tired a couple of the starters as well all great. Would recommend going. I going back to try the rest of the menu.

Called in speculatively following an appointment locally and so pleasantly surprised! Despite being outside normal kitchen hours Raj organised some great pub food for us, even providing some fine tasters during our short wait. Nothing was too much trouble and really good service. The place is really clean, tidy and appealing. The new management has definitely got this place in shape, so I've no hesitation in recommending highly.

Good food would recommend taking a detour to have a bight to eat. New owners a lovely.

The roast dinner was amazing really enjoyed it. We all had belly of pork & crackling was spot on & the roast potatoes were delicious. Staff were friendly & the cost was reasonable.

Grew up in the 6 bells with my parents seen a few people come and go but the new owenwr now you can see the massive improvement they are so lovely prices are unbelievable food is 10/10 I recommend the Sausage roll with the Oxford sauce is to die for I 100% recommend this pub it’s amazing!!!!

Under new ownership so ignore photo's of the earlier menus; see today's Easter weekend opening menu, that will give a taste of what is on offer. The portions are generous, the roast vegetables were perfect as were the accompanying vegetables, all just cooked to perfection, no soggy roast potatoes, crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Amongst the party we had the squash wellington (perfect pastry), lamb and beef, all with the same veg. I must not forget to mention the stupendous Yorkshire puddings either, or the gravy. There was room left for a couple of the party to have puddings, they were reported as delicious. I forgot to add that the background music is very pleasant, a good choice and just the right volume so it doesn't intrude on conversations.

Visited with friends and family on Easter Sunday, had an excellent roast dinner with all the trimmings. Lovely friendly atmosphere, would definitely eat there again.

Theis place is just getting started under its new owners. The bar is open with Thatcher's, Wainwright, Guinness, Brooklyn Brewery etc, plus various spirits, soft drinks and hot drinks. We were told that the kitchen will be up and running soon, offering pub classics and other dishes. The new owners are young, enthusiastic and friendly. We were shown the lovely courtyard garden, which is a good size. As the kitchen is not fully open yet, we were offered a free snack - homemade, herby sausage roll with Oxford Sauce😋

Excellent curries, wide choice and nicely presented. Accommodated a group of 12 with timely service, reasonable price. Lovely interior decor and lots of parking. Very convenient location near Headington roundabout.

Fusion KITCHEN Which Was the six bells...Thursday night and 4 of us here smashing a curry out staff and owner sound do recommend coming here for a curry if you are visiting or even if you just live here...

Really tasty curries, with generous takeaway portions. We had 4 dishes and not only did each of them look and taste completely different, but they passed the portion test - will we get lunch from this tomorrow? It was friendly service and I kinda wished we'd eaten in, as it is really cosy and appealing inside now. Will return for takeaway and some evenings out.

Moved to Oxford about 9 months ago and haven't found a good place to eat out untill we ate here. Atmosphere was really nice right from the start. Service was incredible. The staff was really nice. The food was delicious. If they don't offer the house specialty you need to ask for it cause I could eat a full meal of those. Apparently it is under new management as of a few months ago, so if you haven't checked it out I would highly suggest it!

Ahora es un excelente restaurante indio, con buena comida y un personal muy servicial y amable. Todos disfrutamos de nuestro tiempo aquí y si volvemos a Headington Quarry, estoy seguro de que volveremos.

Delicious Indian cuisine served by friendly staff in a calm and relaxing restaurant. Generous portions, too, and and they offer serious discounts for takeaway. I especially recommend the poppadoms, Rogan Josh, and Dhansak. We've already gone to the Six Bells twice and will certainly be going again!

What a fantastic evening. My friends and I were celebrating a special event, and the owner and chef at The Six Bells made our meal a wonderful occasion. The food was fresh and delicious - we opted for the Indian menu - and the hospitality was second to none. The service was excellent throughout the evening - quick, professional, and friendly. Aziz and his team made it a night to remember. The Six Bells has just become our new favourite go-to restaurant in Headington/Cowley/Oxford. Highly recommend.

Had two pints of Old Speckled Hen, which the barman suggested I sample, which was appreciated. Brewery Greenking in the process of selling the pub. Pity, as it's a decent place. The refurbishment since I was last in there is typical GK refit, but well down. I guess if the customers are not coming through the door it may not be a pub much longer.

Always go to six bells boxing day to see the mummers as part of our family tradition. It's a fantastic pub and always feel welcome

Went for a family lunch. Waitress and chef very helpful and friendly as one of the the party has some allergies, menu good, wide variety of options, great tasting and efficient service. Thoroughly recommend

What has happened in the space of a few weeks? Met the lady who said she and partner had taken over, promised we’d be back and did tonight Sat 12th at 830pm. What a shocking welcome! The man behind the bar said he was closing up at 9pm. I said plenty of time for a drink. For my G&T asked if I wanted ice as he’d have to go out back to get it. Felt very unwelcomed. Another could went up to get more drink at 850pm and he refused them. Not a way to encourage customers in and being local we won’t be back. Don’t waste your time. Shame as used to be a really nice pub.

Very nice pub. Currently, there is no food due to no chef. However, the pub is excellent inside. Loads of space, lots of seating, background music, large beer garden etc. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. It's easy to get to with good road links in all directions and very large car park for those who drive. Will definitely go again.

Had one drink and a week later got a £100 parking fine. I gather it's a new parking system but wasn't informed one had to log in. Total disaster.

Went Saturday, No Real Ales for a Greenie King Pub , No John Smiths,No San Miguel , No Birra Moretti which is a premium lager all big sellers Moretti @ £5.50 a pint very limited choice left Had Camden Hills another premium lager but not in same league as Moretti @ £6.20 a pint. Total rip off Pub is lovey& clean but think new landlord is exploiting the regulars , He needs to listen to customers, lots of people asking for Moretti. Maybe funds are a problem if he’s not getting the favourite lagers in & having to inflate prices Will use again but not to line his pockets with the inflated prices will choose wisely recommend others to do the same Excellent friendly staff Kelly & George

The six bells re-opened and I went for a roast dinner. The roast dinner was really good, and great value for money. However 2 weeks later I received a parking ticket. No one in the pub mentioned that we needed to enter details in a machine and it wasn't anywhere noticeable that we could see it either. Such a shame because of this I won't be going back.

I went there for a wake after a funeral, they catered the food. The staff were really welcoming and friendly.

We went there after a pre operation assessment visit to the Churchill Hospital. The young lady serving us was helpful.The food was ok. However we received a £100 parking fine. I appealed this but was told we could pay £60. I went back to the pub to find a large notice as you go in warning you that there is a parking charge .This was not there when we visited. It had been put there because another customer had been given a parking charge! I was told to leave my husbands parking charge details that the "Landlord " would contact the department and get it cancelled.He / Her seemingly had done this before for another unsuspecting customer, I was told that he/her would call my husbands mobile to let him know it had been done. At that time he was in the Churchill (Cancer) hospital for four weeks. He never received a call. I tried ringing the pub today but the number is not correct.??? in our 70s husband recovering from two operations and we now have to pay this charge which we could well do without. I will have to ring the Department tomorrow to see if he/she actually did contact them. Telephone number unavailable - fishy

It was very sad. Only a small number of customers. No real ale taps working and John Smith's smooth was off.

I dropped in on a weekday morning for a quiet coffee which was pleasant enough and a few weeks later was stung for a £60 parking fine. On returning I noticed that there are notices around but they are not in conspicuous places and not in places I noticed. The bar staff might have mentioned that I should have put my car registration in a machine. A most unpleasant experience.

Came here after a funeral for a wake. We brought many people to the pub and we spent a good sum of money over the bar. We arrived to an empty car park and upon entering the pub I stood waiting for the barmaid with my car keys clearly visible for quite a while waiting to be served. At no point was I warned about charges in the car park. Two weeks later I recieved a parking ticket for £100 (£60 if you pay within.. blah blah)!! Furious that people are profiteering in this kind of way, especially when they made quite a bit of money out of us through the drinks that were bought by the funeral party. Very low practice indeed.

In order to avoid the Chequers in Headington Quarry, we made do with The Six Bells. It wasn’t a great pub to drink in, but compared to the Chequers, it was brilliant. Why? Because the landlord was so miserable and unhospitable, nobody wanted to drink at his pub. Whats this got to do with the The Six Bells? Well, he’s only gone and taken that over now. What life and atmosphere it had once had is now gone, along with us too Im afraid. We used to eat at the Monsoon Indian restaurant attached to Chequers until we learned he got angry and attacked the new owner just because he was asked to pick up after his own dogs mess out in the garden. Hopefully the guys running the Monsoon now will be more fortunate!

Not the place for me - dreadful Muzak and only Sunday Roast to eat - no choice.

We had not been to this local pub for a while and were delighted to find they now have Bangladeshi and Indian food on offer. Shirin's food is very tasty and cooked with love and care. We had the thali and loved it.

Excellent traditional Sunday Roast place with all necessary ingredients and 3 meats 🍖 to choose from - pork, lamb or chicken. Sauces included: apple sauce, mint 👌and cranberry sauce. Sunday midday is better to order it.

Run down, disgusting, no service at the bar. Use the toilets if you have to but only if you're desperate and can't go anywhere else! Best avoided.

Garden at the back is chilled, and secluded, excellent hangout.

Very accomodating, clean and spacious and good hot food which was welcome after a mornings cycling.

STAFF were welcoming and covid safe following the guidelines and politely keeping people in check who forgot or decided the new rules wasn't for them over great experience

Was a really nice discovery, prices are normal and acceptable. Meal was great big and tasty. Beer was good. Workers are polite, looks like a local pub that everybody likes, we will visit again ti try other meals. Would definetly recommend it. Cheers 🥂

Have my roast here every Sunday by far the best roast I’ve ever had Im very fussy and will only eat where the food is good however it’s not just the food Kim is the most wonderful landlady she’s brilliant and accommodating for everyone the pub is child friendly it’s always just perfect here . The bar staff are great and the food is always delicious. I would travel for a roast here it’s just the best ever

Best Sunday lunch we’ve had for a long time in a pub. Friendly and attentive staff. Meals were a Good sized portion, Cooked beautifully and delivered quickly and hot. Reasonably priced and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
