The welcome and service from Isabella and especially Graham was superb. My wife has specific dietary needs and they bent over backwards to accommodate us. The view of the Cornmarket through the windows was great fun and the atmosphere was very friendly.

If you want to go order at the bar and take your drinks and cutlery to the table, this is your place (remember your table number to place the order). The waiters only serve the dishes and collect them, the rest you have to do everything yourself. They don't even bring the menu to your table!! The service is practically that of a fastfood restaurant but with a la carte restaurant prices.

We recently visited The Plough, and I must say it was the best meal we've had in a long time. The food was excellent, the service was impeccable, and they offered a great selection of drinks. We will definitely be coming back!

We held a Xmas party for a large group at The Plough, and it was the perfect venue! The food and service was great, staff were super helpful in the run up to the event and the atmosphere on the night was great. The venue is charming and spacious, and the shuffleboard especially went down a treat. Thank you!

Das Essen war ok, aber auch nicht mehr. Wir hatten Fish & Chips. Die Panade war sehr hart und alles andere als lecker. Pommes waren auch so la la. Der Pub an sich war ok und das Personal freundlich.

Reservado aquí con la familia al mediodía un domingo. Los asados dominicales en el menú eran atractivos para nosotros. Reservamos una mesa de antemano y nos llevaron arriba a una zona de estar más grande. El servicio rápido para ordenar y la comida salió muy rápido después de esto. Los asados eran agradables, no se pueden quejar y buenos tamaños de porciones. - 1 estrella debido a los inodoros, solo cubicaje de inodoro masculino estaba fuera de servicio (eso me han dicho) y también cuando caminas más allá de los inodoros masculinos se puede oler la orina! También nos quedamos después de haber servido las comidas, tuvimos que pedir la factura con platos todavía en la mesa. Pub sin embargo tenía una buena sensación, muy social, un montón de juegos para pedir prestado y usar alrededor. Puede imaginar si un buen lugar para venir con amigos para unas copas.

A good pub, very well located, the pizzas are good

Vino con la familia a cenar camino al teatro. Sentado arriba, buen ambiente, fácil de encontrar una mesa (lunes por la noche). La aplicación para la comida no funcionó 🙄 así que se dirigió abajo para pedir comida y bebida que era sencillo. La comida llegó muy rápido. 2 x hamburguesas y los niños compartieron una de sus pizzas rectangulares grandes. La comida era buena sin ser increíble, pero era justo lo que necesitábamos y en £ 66 era una buena relación calidad-precio para 5 personas. Lo recomendaría.

Amazing food, beautiful building and a prime location. The food is a bit pricier, but so worth it!!!

Beautiful pub. If you want to eat there you'll need a reservation! We managed to walk in and order the festive Sunday roast which was divine. If you don't book, you'll likely be on the high bar chairs which wasn't an issue for us.

En nuestro primer viaje al bar para pedir comida nos dijeron que el menú en particular se había dejado fuera por error y no podíamos pedir de él. En nuestro segundo viaje nos dijeron que los cócteles que habíamos elegido no estaban disponibles! Esto fue bastante decepcionante ya que acabamos de llegar a Oxford para nuestro fin de semana anual de Navidad, pero luego llegó la comida. No entiendo por qué platos de comida que son tan pobres se les permite salir de la cocina. Mi amiga dijo que lo calientes que estaban sus papas fritas y las mías eran frías y claramente las últimas de un lote. Incluso comenté que para el fish and chips seguramente el plato debería tener más chips. La masa de los peces era tan espesa y dura que me costó encontrar el pez real. Sí, debería haber dicho algo, pero estábamos allí para un fin de semana encantador y no quería los sentimientos incómodos. Por favor piense en la calidad.

Went here on Saturday 14th Dec, wasn't really impressed with the stuff, on bar all look sad and smiles or customer service really. Didn't have a meal, then didn't have drink. Had the Pie which was OK but it was swimming in gravy not for me.

I recently visited the Plough Inn and I was put off immediately when entering as we had booked for 4 and two chairs had been taken from our table. Which isn't a problem as it's a busy period but the staff didn't seem happy to help and begrudgingly got two chairs for us. We ordered a starter and a main course which both came at the same time and the staff again didn't seem bothered by this mistake. The pizza was very nice and perfect size for sharing although adding 3 topping set us back £16 ontop of a £15 pizza which is a joke. We were told there was no table service however, the table next to us was waited. Very disappointing experience overall.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere and fast service

We had our staff party there last weekend and had a great time. The team were extremely organised and accommodating. The food was very tasty - the best we have had for a staff meal. will definitely be returning.

Called in for a drink and food looked so good ordered a Sunday Roast. Absolutely fantastic Roast. Every item on the plate had great flavour and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend

Lovely place to have a drink and/or something to eat and catch up with friends !

I had read the reviews and was happy so 6 of us met for lunch. Lack of staff serving so wait to order at bar was very long and no lunch menus available. Eventually found one for all 6 to share! The food was served quickly which was the best part of the visit. The soups and salad were good but the sandwiches were very poor. Made with supermarket cheapest white sliced bread (would've preferred brown but no choice given). The hot club sandwich was stone cold and just a basic chicken and bacon sandwich so no idea why it was advertised as hot. The beef one had lots of beef but again on the cheapest bread available as was the cheese one which was unremarkable. Should've complained but didn't like to upset the ambience. Never again will I bother as I could make a better job at home with far better bread!!

Vinimos a comer tarde el lunes 21 de octubre. El pub era frío, el personal antipático y poco servicial y la comida fue muy decepcionante. La pintada de mi madre era dura y la col rizada cruda y el pescado de mi hermana enormemente sobrefrito - un montón de masa y muy poco pescado. Mi pastel no parecía estar bien cocinado y la comida era tibia en el mejor de los casos. ¡Las patatas estaban buenas! Los precios eran indignantes por esta calidad. Nadie verificó si nuestra comida estaba bien. Realmente se sentía como si todo hubiera salido del congelador y tirado en el microondas.

Cozy place with great food! I had the goat's cheese and fig salad and my husband had the chicken, ham and leek pie. Both were delicious! Our company had the fish and chips and it was enormous! Will be certainly looking for the same pub in other locations in the UK.

Great Sunday roast here and a new favourite in Oxford! The pork belly was very tasty and the Yorkshire puddings are amazing, very satisfying after being disappointed by a few different pub roasts in town. Our server was great, the only downside was one rude member of staff who looked like he could be the manager, marching over to our table when we’d already been sat down for 20 minutes and rudely saying “this table is reserved for [name]” and I replied “I am [name]” and he marched off without even apologising to us. You have a booking system for a reason, maybe check it before you start accusing people of stealing tables or at the very least, ask politely and don’t be rude! 😂 Other than this guy, it was a very pleasant experience being seated upstairs.

Lucy the waitress, is the most humble and sweet worker at this cool establishment. I love the chicken wings, the neck oil beer and the music. I will come back!!!

You have to go upstairs to order, but that is not mentioned anywhere. The food took a very long time due to an error in the system but they got it. This was resolved very neatly. The food is also good, fish and chips were excellent. The chicken was a bit dry but the taste was fine.

Without infamy and without praise. Interesting looking pub on the outside, renovated inside so standard modern style. Sufficient service. Okay food.

Excellent food and great cocktails with a friendly atmosphere!

Went in to watch the football (after seeing a sign saying they were playing the game) a good hour before KO. 20mins into game and still no sight of the football on the TV (which was playing some looped Guinness book of records video), we again asked and was told “we are dealing with customers first then will put on” several other angry punters all waiting. Turning the channel was too difficult so my group all left. Next time go the Grapes, much better service.

Great place to see and to sit, however service is not that great and food is quite expensive if you look how much you receive. It was ‘normal’ good, not that special.

Best fish and chips I ever had. Service was ok but we got charged 12% extra for it without being informed before paiement.

I ordered a double baileys and was given 50ml of liquid instead of 100ml even though it states on their price list a single measure of baileys is 50ml the issue could not be resolved to my satisfaction and I received my money back which was good but I went away thinking how many people have been ripped off?

Great service and great price for beer and all kings of food items! We only have 15 minutes to spare, so we stopped by here to get a couple half pint of a beer to take a break! The bartender was very nice that served our drink and soul one of their glasses to me which I am a beer. Glass collector was very happy.

Cenato due volte in questo classico pub inglese, situato lungo il corso principale di Oxford. La prima sera hamburger, la seconda sera la "pizza quadrata" che ci aveva incuriosito la prima sera. Di solito mangiamo sempre piatti del luogo e mai cibo italiano per evitare confronto ma, alla fine, la pizza è risultata buona. Servizio puntuale e prezzo nella norma.

Good food selection for a Sunday. Situated perfectly in central Oxford with nice decor. The pizza was particularly impressive.

Food would have been just OK ( if a bit bland) if it was hot - lamb steak came out cool, lentils came seemingly out of a freezer. Still decent, but got the feeling this sat on someone else's table for quite a while🤨 Cocktail was good, though. Feels understaffed - proper staffing would solve most issues. Would give it another chance.

The bavette steak was good, the burger was slightly burnt and the fish'n chips were embarassing - fish was tiny and they tried to compensate with a thick layer of dough. The venue is nice and the tables outside are even nicer weather permitting.

Estaba ocupado y quizás necesitaba un poco más de personal para ayudar. El personal que estaba trabajando era muy acogedor. Había varias mesas que necesitaban autorización, lo que significaba que los nuevos clientes atendían mesas sucias, lo que no era ideal. Pedimos ensaladas César. No es lo mejor que he tenido, pero no lo peor. Para el pudín teníamos el Eton Mess que fue una gran decepción. Un total de tres frambuesas (deberían haber sido fresas). Y solo una pequeña cantidad de merengue y crema. No lo devolvimos porque estábamos en un límite de tiempo.

Entré aquí a comer en familia, pedí una pizza y 2 bebidas, la camarera me cobró enormemente lo que no estaba marcado por ella, así que lo mencioné. Ella no fue la más disculpada, y tuvo algún problema de actitud desde el principio de nuestra interacción. ¿Tal vez un día ocupado? Pero el personal parecía vacante y en absoluto presente, lo que es una pena ya que el pub en sí es encantador. El gerente vino a ordenar mi reembolso, pero me reembolsó 9 limonadas como la camarera pasó por 11. Después de salir del restaurante, ahora me han cobrado de más ya que el gerente en realidad debería haberme reembolsado por 10 limonadas. Como mi otra bebida era una coca. Lástima que tuve una mala experiencia, ya que realmente estaba deseando probar el pub, pero lamentablemente el personal realmente no dio en el blanco.

Food was average at best. Pizza base not crisp, cous cous soggy. Charge a discretionary 12.5% service charge automatically with extra small print at bottom of menu. Nice for a drink but eat somewhere else.

Delish Sunday Roast. Air Conditional freezing. Had to.leave early as too cold to sit a long time. Also dinner got cold very quick. Music loud & not to our taste. Lovely staff. Helpful & courteous.

The place is nice, it’s clean, spacious and has good vibes. Unfortunately the food we got was extremely disappointing. We ordered two tortellini’s and below is what came. It came all lukewarm, with seven pieces of pasta and without the supposed crushed chillies and toasted seeds as described in the menu. For $14 pounds this was a most disappointing meal.

The food was great and I liked our server. The turn off was the flies and the qr codes that I guess are leftover from covid. A lot of places have these outdated qr codes sitting around.

Great spot, middle of hustle n bustle. We booked here for a pre theatre meal, travelling from the Midlands for a show at the New Theatre. Service, food and drinks were great, but particularly the food. Highly recommended. Lovely atmosphere, seats inside and out - and a 2 minute walk to the theatre.

Overcharged by £17 compared to menu prices for a table of 5 with no other service apart from bringing the food to the table. No way did the staff earn this obligatory service fee - they were messing about and chatting to each other not doing anything the whole time we were there! Complements to the chef however as fish and chips were great.

It is hard to find a table here, and I can see why. Nestled in the heart of Oxford city, this restaurant serves a variety of entree, mains, desserts and pizzas which is both great value for money, and delicious. However, one of the staff members serving food was intoxicated and this hindered our experience.

We ordered at the bar. The pizza came quickly and was huge. Definitely should have shared it with 2-3 people. It was a nice night so we sat outside and enjoyed the people watching.

Not sure why this pub closed for so long and only just reopened, its not been long opened as a pub anyway, but nothing has changed it seems so no refurb or major improvement. Its ok as a pub, been several times but never seems to have to wow factor. The reason for the poor scoring is the beer, they are terrible and served in generic glasses, so the entire pub has people sitting with sad faces and flat beer. These are not cheap either and the prices are on par with the head of he river, London prices as we say, so flat beer for your money = two points I am afraid.

Nice food, quick and polite service.

Highly recommend this gastro pub. We heard about it on Facebook, so we had to try. We were not disappointed. The pizzas were huge and an absolute bargain. Fed our family of 3, and we had leftovers. Staff were very friendly. What's even better is you get to sit inside a small piece of history, too.

Das Pub ist einem sehr schönen historischen Haus. Es gibt innen und außen Bestuhlung. Bei dem schönen Wetter saßen wir gerne draußen. Es gab sehr gute Fish & Chips und gutes Bier. Davon hat das Pub eine recht große Auswahl - wie leider überall während unseres England-Urlaubs aber vornehmlich ausländische Biere. Meine Empfehlung: Old Oxford Stout

This was a very busy Sunday morning but this did not stop the staff they were excellent great food good price a large sitting area upstairs with plenty of tv screens.

Great burger and great location for outdoor eating. You have to order at the bar with your table number (used to have QR coded table for ordering, but no longer). Fries were great. Wine was OK, but nothing great. The outdoor seating is really the highlight, along with people watching. Right across the street from a famous building, so everyone stops to take a photo. Service is primarily delivering food to your table. Bartender was very nice suggesting a decent wine.

Staff were excellent and its a great location in Oxford. No problem getting water for the dog too.

Nice restaurant with a very cozy atmosphere. Drinks are delicious and the glass is filled to the brim. So you get something for your money! The burger and salad were very tasty and nicely prepared. There are deductions because of the completely unclear ordering process. The QR codes were taped off and you had to order at the counter. Then you were asked twice for the table number, even though there wasn't one. The waitress had apparently forgotten that too.

Avoid small plates, pizzas did look good. Waited 30 mins for food to arrive colder than a McDonalds delivered! Squid so brown oil must be older than god. £35 not well spent

They serve their own pint glasses which mean all pints are flat. A very poor pint which is a shame as the food and staff are great

The Fish(only) was amazing, but what let me down was the rest. The chips was horrible frozen chips (why not freshly made instead), Peas look to have been cooking for 3 hours. food Service could have been much better and maybe the staff should be a little nicer in general. Wouldn't rush to go back

Popped in for a snack and a drink. Asked what the soup of the day was, then went back to the table to tell the rest of my group of 3, went back to order about 5 minutes later and was told there’s no soup left. So then asked for 2 scotch eggs and they only had 1 left so went for a sausage roll. We also ordered chips and watched 9 tables get chips or chips on the side of main meals and waited 45 minutes to ask someone what was going on. We chased up the order with a young girl who went to the kitchen to ask but never came back and carried on serving other people and cleaning tables. We then went up to the bar to ask what was going on and the chap was the first friendliest person we met. He ran up to get them but they had to be cooked and we decided to just get a refund. Which we got. But really we should’ve had a refund and the chips for the inconvenience. But it’s fine. Lessoned learned as we won’t go there again.

The Plough Inn accommodated our large group (16 people) midweek for lunch. The service and food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed playing shuffleboard. We would all heartily recommend The Plough.

Not what it used to be, it was a busy Friday and there didn't seem to be enough staff. It feels that it is aimed at tourists/student rather than a facility for the people of Oxford. There needs to be clear signage that there is seating upstairs

Food ok but the staff not good at all, I queued up and 2 old boys pushed in front of me and the barman with a silly pony tail started to serve them. I said excuse me guys I was next which they acknowledged but the barman said no you’re not. I said you having seen me waiting patiently for the last 5 mins or so and you have blatantly let these 2 in front of me and I don’t know why. Guy just ignored me and carried on. Just no reason for it and looking at other reviews some of the staff are poor. My next trip to the area I will avoid like the plague

Food was excellent. Would have scored higher but we booked a table and then when we arrived were told someone had taken our table and had to be slotted in somewhere.
