Manjal Indian Restaurant in Tower Hamlets

We recently had our team lunch at Manjal and it was a hit! The food was fantastic - fresh, flavourful and with plenty of vegetarian and non veg options to please everyone. The service and staff was friendly and efficient, even with our large group. A great atmosphere for a team lunch, and the prices and portions were as expected. We'll definitely be back!

Such flavoursome food. Every dish from starters to mains to dessert was bangin. Fantastic Zombie cocktails too! The service is great and there's parking. This was our fourth visit even though we live an hour's drive away, Mangal has always been well worth the journey. We'd definitely recommend.

This is a great place to visit for a chilled evening out with friends or family.Relaxed time. The food choice is great, and the staff is attentive and comes and checks to make sure all is good. Also, the food test is too good and the restaurant atmosphere looks nice.

Ordered multiple items and they were all great, the service was even better. Favorite Indian food I have had and will definitely make it back.

October 2024: Ordered on deliveroo. Absolutely disaster food. Poor packing. Dosa was packed in silver foil - terrible. Potato tikki was hard. no flavour. Stale food. (See pictures) Veg fried rice was bland. Gobhi Manchurian was sweet. onion rawa masala dosa was average. Would not recommend or order again

We visited this restaurant yesterday for the first time. The starters were great as well the main. They also had a special meal for the upcoming release for Vettaiyan, where it was a thaali with a variety of selections (limited time only). Staff were really welcoming and friendly especially Venkat and Shaqil. The overall experience was really good.

Visited Manjal for my birthday, chosen by my daughter, and what a great find it was. Location in Canary Wharf, right next to the river. The restaurant itself was clean, and the staff greeted us very courteously and were very polite and attentive to our needs. Food was tasty and presented beautifully. Overall, it was a great evening meal and worth the trip. Even surprised me with a little birthday cake

It was really excellent, the starters as well as the main courses. The service is also impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. Special mention for the cat samosa and the dish with jalfrezi sauce

Ordered Biryani and dosa via Deliveroo. The biryani looked nothing like biryani. I have been eating/cooking Biryani all my life and let me tell, any chicken and rice is NOT biryani. The worst part is I had an upset stomach after eating it. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs.

perfect, this atmosphere was quite load but a lovely calm place at the same time, the set up and tables along with being able to see the water from where we were seated was a lovely extra for our meal, the lights and music made the place feel classy and fancy which is a nice add to the meal. the food was delivered only 10 minutes after ordering which was amazing as me and my partner were starving, we ordered the chicken tikka along with rice and plain nann bread, the chicken tikka had a spicy kick but was overall one of the best i have ever had along with the fluffy nann bread, as we tried to order chips but they didn’t sell them the lovely waiter suggested a substitute which was amazing and i’m glad they didn’t do chips. the service overall really made the place more homely, the waiter we had spoke to us a lot and was very lively, he suggested new foods to us and was very intrested in our travels, which was a lovely conversation to have, although i have so much good to say about this place i must say it is very expensive around 70-80 which isn’t to bad to pay when the food is worth it, if your willing to pay this then decently visit this place in the london area

Forget Dishoom, this is without doubt the best Indian and Sri Lankan food in Canary Wharf. Everything we had was cooked to perfection, from the onion bhajis to the fish curry, chicken biriyani and jalfrezi. The service was extremely welcoming and friendly, with helpful suggestions made regarding which curries to have with which breads. To cap it all you have a great view of the docks at South Quay in a bright, clean and comfortable restaurant. Can't recommend this place more highly, and will definitely be coming back.

This restaurant is a 10/10. The location is wonderful and verz pretty. The food was amazing especially their Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala. The Service was a 10/10 as well. They were super friendly and helpful. The ambiente… I first thought this is a 5 star restaurant to be honest it is sooo pretty and classy. The prices are super reasonable as well. I really recommend this place.

Brilliant service and most delicious South Indian food!

Tried GC, DR before visiting here, but this is the best. It’s recommended by a friend who came from India. The food tastes so delicious, chicken chetinad and kothru roti are my favorites. The service was great as well. My partner ordered a half pint of beer. The waiter brought a pint, then the manager removed the beer from the bill.

If you’re looking for delicious Sri Lankan and South Indian food, this is the place for you. The garlic prawns, lamb varuval and Himalayan wings are a must try for starters. And we enjoyed the mutton kottu roti, upcountry chicken curry with Malabar parathas for our mains. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable! The staff are so friendly and really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome.

Had the saag Paneer and butter naan. I couldn't fault the food, it was delicious! Service was friendly and attentive. I received my food quickly but not alarmingly quick! The restaurant had brilliant views of canary wharf and the river. I went for a midweek dinner so it was a little quiet, I'm sure the atmosphere is better on a busy weekend night

One of the best Indian Restaurant in London for Authentic Indian /Sri Lanka food.. Just visited for a dinner.. Wonderful presentation, super tasty and delicious food.. Ambience is really amazing.. The staff are really friendly... Excellent parking is available with lots of spaces... Easily accessible location.. Prize is also good.. Not much expensive.. Very accessible location..

Good fusion of food and Indian flavours

I wouldn't recommend this place, if you are looking for Authentic Indian food and flavours. We had Chilli Paneer for starters, Daal Makhani, Chicken Tikka for mains and none of the dishes actually tasted great. What struck me the most is super small portion sizes, and how expensive this place is. Credit where credit is due: The staff is nice and the ambience is great.

The butter chicken and the korma were very sugary I just lost my appetite when I tasted them like I was eating sweets…that’s absolutely not the way those type of foods should be cooked! The sugar content just took over the overall taste to the point I couldn’t identify what spices were used alongside…the madras borotha texture was great BUT again it was sweet also!!! Guys you really love to use sugar in the kitchen don’t you? Frankly I hate sugar and that is precisely why I won’t order anything from you again. Cheers

The food was okay but the service was bad. This says it closes at 11:00 but they were not ready to serve at 9:15.

Excellent service and great atmosphere

Dining at Manjal restaurant was an unforgettable experience with stunning waterfront views and a breathtaking skyline backdrop. The exceptional service, particularly from Alan, who kept us entertained with his jokes, made us feel right at home. The food was amazing, especially the perfectly baked garlic naan and authentic Indian chicken curry and lamb dishes, making Manjal a gem worth visiting again.

Food is below average for London standards. Service is abysmal. Was served by someone called Johnie ( I hope that is his name ).. he was downright rude .. food for kids ( plain dosa and curd rice took more than an hour and the place was not even half full.. apparently the place is run by some heavy handed people and the service is showing.. it feels like you pay a premium to get treated like a beggar on the road… Please avoid and choose any other India restaurant.. Grand Cholan down the road is way better…

Get the butter chicken! Fantastic food, great service. Did I mention the butter chicken was out of this world? Lovely view by the waterway and restaurant was manned by very attentive and friendly staff. And you must order the butter chicken.

I cannot recommend this place enough! Absolute go to for dinner, lunch and breakfast if I could. I mix it up, sometimes ordering spicier dishes but also really love the korma. The Bombay aloo is incredible, perfect blend of spices and heat. If you are looking for authentic very well cooked dishes this is the place. Atmosphere is good and the service staff are very friendly and welcoming. Dish to recommend would be chicken devil on the starters, and the garlic naan. Absolute delish

Very decent restaurant with the calm atmosphere and tasty Indian food.

We came on a Monday for dinner and the experience was great. We ordered mutton rolls, lamb kotthu rotti, chicken briyani and chicken curry (£60 incl lemonade drink, water and service charge). The service was impeccable, the staff was very kind and professional and a great view. In addition, the food was authentic and nice.

Me and my partner found this little gem of an Indian restaurant whilst out on a stroll looking for somewhere to have our evening meal. What a beautiful little place, the staff who seen to us were both polite and acknowledgable of all customers present. The atmosphere has been beautiful and peaceful with music playing in the background and just the right level so you can still hold a conversation. Nothing was too much to ask for. Staff showed continued acknowledgement and making sure you were OK and that you were happy with each dish you had. The food was outstanding! Very flavoursome and plenty of it! We look forward to visiting this establishment again! Everything was just absolutely perfect!

The naans and pulao were good but the Kadai Paneer wasn’t upto the work. Have eaten Kadai Paneer before many times from this place so a big fan but sorry to say, it doesn’t taste the same anymore.

Well cooked food. Usually order Uttapam & Dosa from there. For spice lovers Sambar is spicy & tasty. Some of their dishes stand out :) Usually get their food delivered

A hidden gem of Canary Wharf / Isle of Dogs area. Food is delicious and authentic, the service is outstanding, and the view on the Canary Wharf is a sight. If you haven’t been here already - I do recommend visiting at least once. Why, you ask? To avoid that regret of missing out :D

Went with the team, short casual 15 min walk from our offices nearer the Jubilee station. Although quiet when we went service was great and the food was excellent. The Chettinad Chicken Curry was the best dish, I'd order that again. Paneer Bhurji was nice. The CTM was recommended but not a dish I would order again - too sweet. Naans and Rotis were nice, deffo fresh. Basic choice in non-alcoholic drinks.

Don't hesitate - book. The food has always been exceptional here - I've been coming here for 10+ years. From an Indian, I can vouch you won't be disappointed. I introduced my wife to this food and she is also obsessed. We took a collection for Diwali last year and shared with our friends, they now have become loyal fans of the restaurant too and we now come back together all the time. Always spoilt for choice, but highly recommend the daal makhni, biryani and chicken chettinad (just to name a few). See you guys soon!

Food was decent but price is more.

We had a full course dinner. Nice atmosphere, fabulous service and really good speciality food. Tried Sri Lankan mutton and Indian Dosas, rasmalai alongwith masala tea and samosas. I'd say best Sri Lankan food in Canary wharf and very best service-kudos to the staffs.

Tried this place out on deliveroo. Order took 2.5 hours to deliver with pathetic taste. If you are a north indian you will not like the value for money , Dishoom is far better. I did order south indian and that too was not great . Portion size was also less. Will not recommend anyday.

Went to Manjal Indian Restaurant today, and here's the scoop. The spot has a killer location with a view of Canary Wharf and right by the River Thames – great vibes. The place is cozy, and while the ambience is just okay, it's a cute spot with a chill vibe and some light music. Now, the food. Bhel Puri was fantastic, Gobi Manchurian was alright, Naans were pretty good, and Egg Masala was top-notch. Not everything tasted super authentic Indian, but it was decent. The staff were welcoming, and taking orders was smooth, but service could be a bit snappier – just a tiny bit. All in all, a solid experience. If you're around Canary Wharf and in the mood for a chill Indian spot, give Manjal a shot. Good views and decent eats await!

I bought a few friends total six people here last Friday. We ordered lamb chop, king prawn and samosa chaat as appetisers. Very high quality food. When we finish the appetisers, we are already very satisfied. And the ‘main dishes’ include butter chicken and three more dishes plus butter naan and garlic naan. All of us were very happy with the food. Regarding service, I think they are really professional. You know many restaurants nowadays hire a lot of temporary or intern servers. Here, I see them all experienced and motivated. They are not only polite but also very attentive. I can’t recall the total price we paid for six people because one of my friends insisted to buy this dinner for us all and took away the bill. Parking is convenient here. If you take train or tube, It is 10 minutes walk from Canary Wharf station or 3 minutes walk from South Quay station. Manual is just beside the South Dock, we loved the very relaxed surrounding. After the big meal, we walked along on the dockside and chatted leisurely to the tube station on the other side of the dock.

A very clean and quite restaurant, inside the restaurant you can have a beautiful view up to the dockland scout project waters The waiters welcome you with good hospitality and manners and introduce you into the restaurant. About the food i can say it’s pretty normal for me as a romanian but if you enjoy indian food really much you definitely must eat here for once

We ate at Manjal again yesterday and it’s still one of our favourites in London. We had the Chicken Saag and Chicken Bhuna and really enjoyed both. The rice is a good sized portion and the naan is beautifully soft. The service was friendly and very attentive - a big thank you to all their staff.

By far my favorite Indian restaurant in London (and the whole of UK) by far - better than Dishoom. We always dine in and the food is always tasty and served impeccably, the staff are always so welcoming and the wet towels in the end cannot be beat!

Visited for evening dinner with family early January. Although the waterside location is great, everything else was sub par. Staff were not interested, service was poor, and food was unnecessarily over-spiced - we eat spicy food but this was another level and was not pleasant at all to eat. Daal Makhani was nothing like the usual North Indian style, Egg Curry had too much garam masala and Paneer Masala was poor quality. The only positive was the starters were okay-ish, and the naan was nice. Could not wait to pay and leave ASAP. The restaurant was about 20% occupied so no excuses for being too busy. Sorry, but we will not be dining here in the future or recommending this restaurant.

Take away order. Chicken tikka masala was too spicy.. Vindaloo levels.. Packaging was all plastic, would prefer non plastic. The mains were also in small side containers.

Good food- lacking a bit atmosphere- Went there after a diploma ceremony with a reservation at 21.00. Although restaurant closes at 23.00 it seemed to us main goal of the service was to get us out asap which was sad
