Mama Feelgoods in Canterbury

A few years ago we went here with the family and decided to return as we were close by on holiday in Airbnb. Previously, the menu you was reasonably priced, portion sizes were generous and coffee was amazing. It looks like the cafe has been refreshed decoratively and it seemed to be more pricey a sandwich £8 - £9! It was disappointing that despite the high prices portion sizes were not overly generous but the coffee was appalling- no coffee taste and tepid water. The food provided does not meet the prices charged, which is such a shame because this was a great place previously maybe it’s changed ownership.

We haven't been here since lockdown in 2020! However it was like nothing had changed. The same high quality as ever. My ploughman's lunch was one of the best

We visited many times, and had a wonderful time sitting outside, enjoying the great food and great service. Many thanks to everyone.

This place has a huge potential. The whole set of units do, but the execution is all off. Half the shops aren’t open and there is no atmosphere in the lot. The staff at mama feelgoods all act as though customers are an annoyance, no smiles, no chat. All the 4 women working (bar one with dark curly hair) were emotionless, odd robots stood blinking, as though shocked you would like to order. The food albeit looked great, but was horrendously overpriced. How can you change 6-7£ for a brownie and £9.50 for a breakfast baguette, yikes. Dogs aren’t allowed indoors which again seems odd considering it’s on a walking spot, but the inside lacks any real atmosphere regardless. I’m genuinely surprised mama feelgoods hasn’t upped its game considering the amount of great farm shop/cafes in the vicinity. Chalkpit farm could do with a serious rebrand, get a local brewer in, a cafe with some atmosphere and better pricing, a real proper farm shop and you might have a place people want to stay all day!

Highly recommended - opens 9.30am. Great selection of cakes. The breakfast brunch is the best ❤️, lovely soft Sourdough baguette.

We ordered the special of the day for lunch - but 5 minutes later were told - sorry we have run out . No worries- we ordered a sandwich each instead - and somehow they managed to elevate a humble doorstep with salad into a memorable lunch. Nice people - clever kitchen - salad was dressed well and tasty - lovely bread and well filled sandwich- simple and very delicious. We will soon go back and look forward to eating well!

A lovely welcoming cafe with excellent tasty produce. Also really interesting goods and food for sale. Recommend!

Sat outside this little cafe in the sunshine with sunshades provided with our two dogs. Ate a breakfast last time we visited which was delicious and this visit was drink and cake which was equally lovely. Friendly staff, good food. Area outside is quite narrow but that can’t be avoided.

Delicious healthy food lots of options for vegan or gluten free. Cakes are amazing. Lovely location. They did the catering for my mum's 70th birthday party and people are still talking about how wonderful it was eight years later. There are also lots of lovely unusual items to buy in the café from cards to pottery, cake decorating and art work. A true hidden gem 😍

The missus and I popped in here for the first time a few days ago for a coffee and cake, it was superb. We then saw that they offered a Sunday Roast so we booked and came in today (Sunday 9th) and what a fabulous meal they served up. The young ladies waiting on the tables were so friendly and attentive, the place was spotlessly clean and the food was freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. Don’t let the fact that this is a small cafe off the beaten track fool you, the quality of the food and cooking was easily on par (if not better) than some High Street Restaurants. I should also add that the prices are also very reasonable and if you have enough room left afterwards they offer a magnificent choice of homemade high quality cakes. This is surely a jewel in the Kent countryside. We will definitely visit again.

Visited this beautiful little gem of a cafe today with my daughter and grandson. The minute we walked through the door we were greeted by lovely smiles from the staff. Shown to a table that would accommodate a pushchair. Everything was perfect with the most delicious, freshly prepared food and amazing coffee. They also have a vast array of freshly baked cakes, scones and other sweet treats. I highly recommend the flapjack. They also had very good baby changing facilities which was ideal for us. We will definitely be going back again and again and again.

We had the most lovely experience here this morning. We booked online Saturday evening for 13 of us. They catered brilliantly, breakfasts all round- all hot, tasty and timely. Staff were excellent, patient, willing and smiley! Can’t thank you all enough for looking after us all.

A really lovely afternoon tea, plenty of delicious sandwiches and cakes and bottomless tea pots. Friendly staff and lovely gift shop with such an amazing selection of cakes and pastries to takeaway that we'd have been spoiled for choice had we not already eat so much that we could barely move. Bespoke celebration cakes look fabulous.

Lovely cafe , very friendly lady serving asked for advice on where to go for the day very helpful. Amazing brekfast, my husband had ham eggs and bubble, my mum had full English and I had the vegetarian good size portion and nice quality produce. Lovely cakes to eat in or takeaway. The lunch menu looked very appetising. Woul defently recommend worth a little drive out of Canterbury.

Wonderful Sunday lunch. All freshly cooked and prepared as you would at home. Lovely outdoor seating where dogs are allowed with welcoming water bowl for your furry friend. Lovely coffee and cakes available and all day brunch. Sunday Roasts are the best in my opinion.

Nice staff, coffee ok but the atmosphere and especially the seating and lighting is awful. The chairs are so uncomfortable and the lighting is like in a bright supermarket. On top they have blocked all windows of natural light. It is sitting like in awful surgery waiting room. Also being a coffee shop on a farm in the country side and with lots of walks around they do not allow dogs inside! Very disappointing!

Cracking price and quality - a friend recommended this cafe/cake shop. It’s a real gem and hidden away. Prices are good and quality exceptional -haven’t eaten such fresh salad in a long time. My partner had the special -croque monsieur. Healthy portion and lovely salads. A great menu - brunch/lunch and afternoon tea - best bit is that all menues pretty much available all day so very flexible when you have a small group who want different things!! Serve alcohol, great coffee and our favourite local tea.

I ordered a carrot cake with reindeer decoration for my host on Christmas Day. The cake arrived on Christmas Eve as requested and looked great. My host was delighted, as were all the other guests. I enjoyed saying it was ‘home made but just not by me’ 😉. Thank you Mamma for a much appreciated service.

Visited here on New Year’s Eve with family, booked table as we were advised it gets busy. Service was great and the food was fantastic, we all had brunch. Lovely quirky place to visit, cakes looked amazing but didn’t try them on this visit

Met friends for lunch on a Saturday. We had booked a table which was a good idea as it was very busy. As with everywhere the prices have increased here but that is to be expected. I did find it very noisy, difficult to hear...

Quick service, delicious food. Sat outside with our dog. Condiments on table etc Asked for additional napkins but they didn’t arrive, this did not spoil the visit. £6 for a bacon sandwich is a lot of money but good quality ingredients.

We visited for the first time today and we definitely weren’t disappointed. Warm welcome, lovely bright airy dining space, wonderful food and charming service. You certainly won’t leave here hungry, generous portions and quality home cooked food. The only downside was there were too many...

Friendly helpful staff. Delicious fresh sandwich with side salad followed by cream tea - nice but scones a bit dry & crumbly. Wished I’d had one of the other delicious looking cakes. Lovely location

We visited Mama Feelgoods today for dessert and coffee after a thoroughly underwhelming roast at a local pub. The service was fabulous and the desserts just gorgeous. We had meringues with fresh cream and warm berry coulis, treacle tart with ice cream and a delicious...

WOW! Just enjoyed the most amazing Afternoon Tea at this beautiful 5* Trip Advisor rural establishment. Fantastic service all with a smile and delicious food to include finger sandwiches, freshly baked quiche, scones (both savoury and sweet), stunning carrot cake and shortbread and raspberry cake....

Decided to go for lunch with a friend. He suggested here as he had been before with his wife. There are tables outside to have lunch but we decided to sit indoors, very welcoming staff who sat us at a table. We ordered some coffees...

Warm polite welcome. Caring staff. Varied menu to suit all tastes. Prompt service. Cheese straws to die for. Well worth frequent visits. Home made fare.

Stopped here for lunch whilst out for a walk with friend. Service was very slow, so it was good we weren't in any hurry. However the food when it came was excellent and the portions very generous.

Lovely salad and local cider for me; posh fry up for hubby and generous portion of pizza for the little one. Lovely shop inside. Nice indoor and outdoor tables. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

This establishment came highly recommended and I was so looking forward to the visit. I was very disappointed, better signage would be a good idea. Perhaps I will try again when the weather has improved.

Tres de nosotros aparecimos en una tarde fría después de caminar por Howletts cuando decidimos terminar nuestro día con un té con crema. La cafetería estaba llena pero el servicio fue muy rápido y el té de crema estaba delicioso. Nuestra camarera agradeció felizmente cuando nuestro hijo le pidió que nos tomara una foto y la visita dio un final agradable a nuestra excursión. ¡Esperemos que algún día volvamos ya que los bollos merecen una segunda visita!

Very friendly helpful staff. Lots of tables so no need to book, except on Sundays. They do a lovely Sunday roast ad nut roast. Well worth a visit.

Dans un bâtiment agricole, dans un petit bourg de campagne anglaise à proximité tout proche de Canterbury, une vraie belle découverte. La nourriture est 'homemade', les succulents sponges cakes variés sont présentés sous les cloches de verre au comptoire, les cafés y sont très bons et les breakfast copieux et délicieux. Ce salon de thé/restaurant est dans la même salle que la mercerie, la boutique de customization de gateaux etc...plein de petits produits en vente. Un bel endroit à ne pas manquer, plein de charme

How these gem of a place has not made it into the Good Food Guide yet is beyond me. It’s simply fantastic. Fantastic roast lunch, homemade cakes, freshly prepared bread and sandwiches and the Eton Mess - now named a Tilly Special is mouthwatering. All served by wonderful friendly professional staff with a smile. Fantastic place. Go spoil yourself!

Wish it was closer to my house. Delicious food. I had a take away lunch. Been back a few times since. I always say you get what you pay for. Dearer than supermarket but blow them away with the quality.

Hemos estado aquí dos veces antes y disfrutamos de nuestra comida. Hoy llegamos 30 minutos antes del cierre, y era obvio que no éramos bienvenidos. Nos dijeron cuándo estaban cerrando y lo que no podíamos tener, luego nos dijeron que nos sentáramos en una mesa y esperaramos a una camarera. Dijimos que simplemente queríamos dos tés de la tarde y nos sentamos. Dos miembros del personal parecían estar revisando las tomas en lugar de preparar nuestro té. Más de diez minutos después, preguntamos cuánto tiempo tendríamos que esperar, solo para que nos dijeran que nos habían olvidado, y en cualquier caso, solo les quedaban dos bollos. Qué pérdida de tiempo y qué decepción ser tratado con tanto desprecio. Solo otra mesa en el café estaba ocupada en ese momento. Era evidente que era demasiado problema acomodarnos, así que nos fuimos. Ojalá la calidad del personal coincidiera con la de la comida.

Esta mañana tomé otro desayuno fantástico con la familia celebrando el cumpleaños de mi esposo. La comida aquí siempre es buena. Recién cocinado y muy sabroso. También haga una buena elección vegetariana. Lo que me gusta es que también hacen un excelente café, siempre me resulta difícil conseguir un buen desayuno y un buen café en el mismo lugar. También hacen un delicioso menú de almuerzo y pasteles súper deliciosos. El personal es encantador y nunca te sientes apurado. Muy afortunado de tener este lugar en nuestra puerta. Recomiendo encarecidamente, una buena idea reservar con antelación para no decepcionarse, ya que puede estar ocupado.

Have been here several times and always appreciated the food and service. This morning my family and I went for a late breakfast. . We waited a very long time indeed. Not normally like this. My plate was cold, the mushrooms also just about warm and my poached egg was solid.... not such a good experience at all. Service very slow despite the friendly waitress who was trying her best. Not the usual standards at all. A pity.

Had lunch here today, absolutely delicious, couldn't fault anything. Wonderful food, friendly staff, would highly recommend.

Arrived for breakfast in time and sat at table. Whilst waiting a while to be served. The breakfast menu was taken off us and a lunch menu handed over then told we can’t have breakfast because they are too busy. Wouldn’t go again

So the Christmas garland is in it's box and we need to replace it with hops so off we go to Bekesbourne to buy another hop bine. Hops bought, we fancied a coffee and popped into this cafe. Where to start! All the cakes on offer looked scrumptious! Husband had his favqourite Victoria sponge and I had the gloriously golden treacle tart. Coffee was lovely but the treacle tart was sublime. It took me back many years to eating my Nan's lovely tart. Sweet, gooey, golden with that fantastic breadcrumby texture and just a hint of lemon - I could've eaten the whole tart!! But I was good and didn't! Andrew served us and was charming. For a cafe a little off the beaten track, nearly all the tables were taken. They had a nice varied lunch menu with lots of vegan/vegetarian options too. Will definitely make an effort to stop off here again.

Fantastic great value well worth a visit, the sandwiches are just amazing by far my favourite venue for lunch truly recommend.

Had the most lovely breakfast this morning here with the girlfriend. Spot on customer service, food very tasty and filling, and at a reasonable price considering it’s all cooked fresh! Definitely will visit again.

Lovely venue to pop in for coffee and cake or lunch! Sandwiches are delicious and served in proper bread. Wide selection of cakes to choose from. Friendly and attentive staff who are always smiling. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely spot to have a beverage or meal. Cute, inviting, light interior. Outdoor seating, nice on pretty days. Food is very tasty and reasonably priced. We had a sandwich and the mushroom soup. Breads are fresh and very good. Lots of bakery items and sweets to choose from. Waitstaff is friendly and efficient. Located just a few minutes off the motorway. This has become our go-to place when we’re in the area.

We hadn’t been here for about a year, it was just as good, if not better as they have expanded their seating area. We will definitely not leave it so long before our next visit. Fabulous value for money.

We've been here previously but not very recently in fact! We ordered huge sandwiches with our pots of tea. And then huge slices of cake with more tea! Very delicious and service is nice - we quite like being left to it and we didn't feel rushed. Will return again soon!

Oh, the Sunday Roast cooked to perfection. You’ve not tried it ? You don’t know what you are missing, perfect Yorkshire puddings, crispy, golden roast potatoes with a delicate hint of garlic and rosemary, beautiful textured gravy made from the juices from the meat, honey roasted carrots, perfect crackling (if you go for the roast pork) and delicious swede mashed with butter and black pepper. It’s a Sunday afternoon delight cooked by the fantastic Robyn to perfection. The environment is friendly, clean and professional with beautiful freshly made break, home made cakes to die for and great quality tea and coffee. I’m surprised that they have not reached The Good Food Guide yet to be very honest. A family run gem on the outskirts of Canterbury with a friendly welcome from the adorable Molly and Tia or weekdays Sarah & Connie. If you’ve not been you won’t be disappointed and soon there will be the legendary turkey sandwiches! Go spoil yourself.

Visited on Friday morning and ordered a bacon sandwich on granary bread. It was lovely. Bread thickly sliced and extremely fresh. Bacon was cooked to perfection and plenty of it too. Utterly delicious. Served by very pleasant, friendly gentleman. Been before and always had nice food.

Lovely little café selling good coffee, light bites and lovely cakes. There is a small deli and cookware shop next door to browse in and also the simply hops shop. They do a great Welsh Rarebit.

The roast on a Sunday amply named Robyn’s Roast because it is simply delicious and like the Sunday Roast your Nan used to make! You’ll not be disappointed. We visited on an extremely busy afternoon as the vets had an open day. Lovely Food and friendly staff. Nothing too.much trouble. Can't wait to come back. My only criticism is the outside bench we sat on wasn't in the shade enough and hubby and 2 children had to sit on one side together to get out of the sun.

Visited yesterday with my mum for something to eat, she had been before I hadn’t. It wasn’t a disappointment.

Not on the obvious City tourist route but so worth the short diversion journey. Obvious home style cooked Sunday lunch of Chicken and all the veg and for me a Hot beef pannini sandwich crammed with meat and horseradish sauce and side salad. Great coffees although the very tempting home made cakes of all descriptions on view were resisted I'm positive the extra calories would have increased the taste sensation. A lively atmosphere in a cosy setting and judging by the many hellos and handshakes it was a meeting place for those in the know regarding 5 star eating quality.

Not much more to say other than we have been a dozen times and every time the food is outstanding and this consistency is what sets it apart from the norm.

Went here for a Sunday morning breakfast for 11. Although it is in an out-of-the-way, farm shop restaurant, it was quite spacious and surprisingly busy. We only sampled the breakfast menu but there was a large selection of options. The food was freshly-cooked with generous portions and proper farmhouse bread.

My boyfriend and I took my parents there for a mid morning treat and what a treat it was...

Not home-cooked ham have been before and have had home-cooked ham eggs and bubble and squeak which was delicious went in the week and also had the same when it arrived you could see it wasn't home-cooked ham but still advertising it as, home-cooked it was watery thin and shiny very disappointed and still the same price.

Friendly staff good food and they have gluten free meals plus lovely gluten free cake. Sandwiches did seem a bit expensive but when mine arrived it was enormous and really lovely. My husband had gluten free sandwiches which were also good. You can sit outside in warm weather.

Hidden away just outside Canterbury in a disused quarry. Worth the short 15 minute drive for this perfect cafe (no parking issues of central Canterbury!) with delicious fresh coffee (I'm a coffee snob and this is goood!), huge selection of cakes and all food homemade to an excellent standard, with some more unusual and delicious options. Attentive staff (especially the chap (manager?) who is excellent - nothing is too much bother)and a friendly atmosphere. On my second visit I was recognised and my coffee order was remembered!! Big comfortable wooden chairs and tables, some outside seating and doggies welcome (situated next to a vets).

We visited Mama Feelgoods for lunch and what a delight it was. It was our first visit and we were not sure what to expect. My partner and I enjoyed the Cheese and Tomato Quiche and we can honestly and confidently say it was the most delicious quiche we have enjoyed in years! Our meals were served with a very tasty garden salad and crunchy slaw. The ingredients were fresh, tasty and we could not fault it. For dessert I had the Bakewell Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream, which was taste bud sensation and a perfect end to a perfect meal. Compliments to the chef and the ladies who offered first class customer service. We will definitely return!

A friend of mine whose mum is in a wheelchair took me to afternoon tea there. Really enjoyed the cosy atmosphere & needless to say the food was delicious. I have recently ordered a birthday cake from this establishment so hope it will be great for a big party for my husband.

Had lunch in here today for the first time after visiting Essentially Hops. What a find. The welsh rarebit was superb and served with salad, coleslaw and a delicious tomato chutney which you can buy in the deli. My friend had a toasted cheese sandwich. Both well cooked and generous. We shared the Eton Mess sundae. The meringues are home made and chewy and it comes with a mouth tingling fruit compote. My friend is a vegetarian and she had a job to make up her mind from the extensive choice. A rare find. And they don't pretend that the food is anything other than what it is. No jus, creme anglais or serving it off an old skateboard! The staff are friendly and the whole experience was a joy. We sat outside and watched the comings and goings of a working farm. This is now a go to place it and I would recommend it highly.

Have visited a number of times and always impressed by food quality. Service is good, but can be very busy due to neighbouring business's and vet surgery. Also popular with walkers and cyclists. Fresh food well cooked and nice cakes.

How sad I am to admit to being a Bakewell tart addict but at this wonderful place it is just perfect. Always excellent service and lots of delicious cakes and scones it is a great place to visit, highly recommended.

We were a party of four friends heading to Howletts Zoo and looking for somewhere to have breakfast. We came across this wonderful little place in a lovely farm setting where all four of us enjoyed our breakfasts so much we went back later for a late afternoon tea of cake and scones. The staff were all welcoming, friendly, helpful & attentive. Three of our party had the full English breakfasts and one of us chose a breakfast not on the menu & this was not a problem to the staff, who were very accommodating. All of our breakfasts were fabulous quality, hot, tasty and moreish! The portions were very generous and the prices were very good for what we had. We left feeling so satisfied that we returned later the same day for tea! We had three cream teas and one slice of delicious gluten free lime cake (Devine!). The cream teas were wonderful with perfect scones (we are all scone crazy & know a good scone when we eat one!!), in fact, they were better than the cream teas we had eaten at Tiny Tims award winning tea house in Canterbury. We can't recommend this cafe more highly, so do try it if you're in the area.

Went here yesterday for lunch, had the stuffed potato skins then the cream tea! Was amazing and so filling! The cakes looked amazing! When I go back I will skip the skins and head straight for the cake! Staff were very friendly too!

Lovely doorstep sandwiches with homemade coleslaw. Great selection of cakes and teas. Scones and pavlovas are outstanding!!! Attached to a shop with lots of lovely local produce.

Located amongst converted farm buildings which are used by a variety of other traders, Mama Feelgoods serves a good selection of food and drink with both indoor and outdoor seating. A very cosy setting inside whereas outside, although pleasant enough, needs some finishing touches to the main pathway. The food is very good with big portions, well presented and tasty. A good selection of drinks but wow the soft drinks are expensive, a 330ml bottle of coke is well over £2! The service is good, efficient and all the staff were helpful. Worth a visit if your exploring the area.

I like dropping in here on the way back from the gym for coffee but the staff never seem very happy - why is this?

Visited for breakfast recently after not being for a while & forgot how good it is. Layout has changed for the better & feels more open now the deli has moved to the back of the cafe. The scrambled eggs are delish & when asked for well done bacon, it was just how we wanted it! Cakes looked great & will head back soon to sample :)

Enormous doorstep sandwiches, egg-ham-bubble'n'squeak, cold bottled beers, a good but expensive deli attached... Mama Feelgoods is fine if you're in the area, but not worth a dedicated visit.

We visited for coffee one morning during a tour of local graveyards. (My wife is into this genealogy stuff.) The atmosphere inside was good, everything looked clean, and the coffee was excellent. I like it strong and it was, though no doubt it can be tamed if you prefer. I was sorely tempted by a good display of cakes but resisted. Anyway it was so good that after another couple of graveyards we went back for lunch. We chose from a good selection of sandwiches which came with a small but carefully prepared salad.....lovely dressing and a few pumpkin seeds etc. In other words it wasnt just a few leaves shoved on the plate as is normal. The bacon in my sandwich was delicious, thick and flavoursome, not Lidl's cheapest!

Came here for brekkie. Was nice and clean but a bit over priced for me. Had a sausage sarnie which was very dry. No butter or spread at all??? No real competition in the area which could explain the prices. Popular place it seems but i think you can get better value elsewhere.

Nice to know you can take your dogs and sit outside and have a late breakfast or lunch the staff are very friendly and the prices are good. They also do take always.

Good selection of tea. Nice coffee. Lovely cakes. Cream tea with scones jam and cream. Choice of bread with sandwich orders. They also do the most amazing celebration cakes to order.

great little place to eat -food excellent - need to book though -as gets busy! but well worth a visit -there is a good flower/gift shop to browse in also

My son treated my husband and I to a wonderful Christmas meal in December and it was delicious and very good value for money , the staff were brilliant and very attentive it was also very busy but the staff kept very calm and were not flustered at all

I sometimes visit mama feel goods after walking in Bekesbourne with my family. They usually have a great selection of cakes. I've tried the bakewell tart, carrot cake, and coffee and walnut and they were all excellent. Not sickly like a lot of cakes you find in coffee shops these days - ate it all and wanted more :p

Mama Feelgoods is well situated near the road to Littlebourne and Bridge.

Great atmosphere, nice warm premises, especially at this time of year. The food was served hot and most importantly on a hot plate as well. Very good service from the staff, even though thee was only one lady in the restaurant taking orders.

Stopped for lunch with a friend and had a sandwich each and coffee. Tasty and good size. Shame no room to fit in a cake! Friendly and attentive service.

I visited recently with a friend to view the small shops, including Mama Feelgoods, in this small shopping experience.

This place is well worth a visit. Sure you can get a breakfast in town from one of the many greasy spoon establishments for around half the cost however, there really is no comparison. Nice atmosphere, clean tables and lovely freshly cooked food using quality ingredients. I for one will definitely be back - give it a try!

excellent freshly cooked food with a limited menu. Try the 'bubble and squeak'.. service friendly in a lovely rural setting.

Mama feelgoods catered for our wedding and so we do visit every now and then to reminisce about the great food. We have had sandwiches, scones and cakes here and everything we have eaten has been well prepared and very tasty. We will always visit here.
