Lovely pub called in while passing through baildon at the weekend and will definitely return. All of the staff are welcoming, friendly and happy to help. The atmosphere was pleasant and everyone seemed friendly. Food was lovely and service was fast. Will definitely return

We are not regular visitors, calling perhaps three or four times a year. When we called a month or two back we were told they were not serving food - it seems the reason was they had a big order to get out? Called today (just before 12.30) and requested the fish platter. Was told they had to check it was still on as it might be frozen - it was still on but it would be half an hour. We changed the order to the cumberland sausage - I was not informed there would be a wait for that as well. After half an hour I queried the delay with our second choice meal. I was told it would be another ten minutes! It wasn't particularly busy. We asked for, and got, our money back. It's a shame as we have enjoyed a few meal there in the past.

Lovely local pub in a traditional building. Polite and pleasant staff with a quiet atmosphere. Several traditional ales and typical pub grub on offer.

Very poor service, food arrived with no cutlery or condiments. Extremely small portions . We got 2 normal meals and 2 senior, the senior fish was the size of a fish finger. No tartaric sauce on one dish and no lemon 🍋. Not well presented although it was tasty .Ordered 4 desserts only 3 arrived. Staff knocked 10% off the bill but I had a blue light card so really no better off as he would only accept one of the discounts. Very disappointing as we do not dine out very often

Stayed over night lovely room but to many stairs

Went on a bit of a nostalgia trip to a pub that has retained it's character but little else. Virtually empty pub when we visited. Choice of beer very limited as pump clips on all except one real ale turned around. Not in a hurry to go back.

The folk behind the bar were brilliant- hard working but polite and capable as well. The bar was busy, but with a friendly atmosphere. Four stars for the food as my steak was over done.

Lovely Sunday lunch and friendly pub and staff will definitely be back

Estamos de vacaciones y vimos este pub en camino a Baildon más y decidimos visitar en el camino de regreso. Nos alegramos de que llamáramos en un pub original muy pintoresco y recibimos una cálida bienvenida agradable. Había varias mesas reservadas, pero el personal amablemente nos ordenó una mesa. Aunque extraños el personal del bar no podría haber sido más servicial. Qué gran menú variado y a un precio muy razonable. Tuvimos los almuerzos del domingo que eran dos por poco menos de £ 12 con elección de carnes. No podía faltar un montón de comida caliente y sabrosa que se hace especialmente agradable por el servicio amable. Llamaré desafiantemente de nuevo durante la próxima semana antes de volver a casa. Sin duda recomendaría que hay un montón de asientos al aire libre y los perros son bienvenidos con golosinas y cuencos de agua.

Will, the temporary manager was a pleasure to talk, serve, and deal with 5* so we're all the other staff Well worth a visit my wife and I have started to go there each week. Good luck to will if the managers job becomes permanent

Visited the pub recently and really good service, very friendly staff serving food and beer. Very comfortable pub to relax in and, although didn't order food, what was being served to other customers looked really good. The pie looked especially appealing.

Visitamos por primera vez hoy y no podemos agradecer lo suficiente por nuestra fantástica experiencia! Nos sentimos muy cómodos con nuestra pequeña niña que acaba de aprender a caminar. Sigue haciendo lo que estás haciendo, volveremos.

Acabo de visitar este lugar de nuevo y como de costumbre la comida era increíble. Excelentes precios en comida, cerveza, sidras y licores. El personal es muy amable y también es un pub que acepta perros. Definitivamente vale la pena una visita.

Visit the Malt shovel monthly with Husband for Karaoke on Saturday nights. Great Karaoke host and good sound system. Cosy atmosphere, friendly crowd and attentive staff. Adequate Seating inside and outside. Clean toilets. Food is good and a varied menu. Great choice of traditional puddings and desserts. Wide selection of Drinks and cocktails at the average price. We park across the road rear of the shops.

Great place and talking to some nice people

A lovely quaint little place. I'm in baildon for a couple of weeks and I'm glad to find the Malt. I'm taken with this place very quickly. A very warm welcome from Will behind the bar. He is a very genuine and welcoming host along with a lovely mannered young lady behind the bar. Have been here a couple of nights and the meals were lovely and nicely presented. I think they will see a lot of me in next couple of weeks. A well run place by friendly people. Absolutely worth a visit......( Chris..table 11 ..under the tv) .

Stopped for a pint on our walk. The old peculiar was so good we ended up staying for 4!!

Lovely to sit outside in the sun and people watch

This was a pretty good place. It was dog friendly and relatively quiet. The food arrived quickly, and the staff were friendly. The food was ok, and the atmosphere was relatively good. I’d probably come back here again.

A lovely pub in the centre of Baildon. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and we love coming for quiz night on a Wednesday. Great to sit outside for a pint in the sun too!

Brilliant pub, lovely staff especially Kirk! we went on a Saturday night it was a very fun and relaxing atmosphere, would definitely recommend.

Waited too long for the food when it didn't seem busy. The kids chicken what was meant to be bread crumbs came in soggy batter had to send it back it was inedible. I got the pie chips with seasonal veg but instead of veg it came with cold mushy peas, the food wasn't all that hot. My friend got the beef dinner she wasn't able to eat the beef too chewy but the rest was lovely. tbh really disappointed for some reason they can't get the food right there.

Lovely straightforward traditional pub. Standard GK food but super good value. Really nice staff. £2.50 dogs dinners too! (Sausage chicken and gravy 😁)

I've just had my Christmas dinner at The Malt, I knew the management team and staff were excellent, but today they went above and beyond my expectations. It was the first Christmas without Mum and two days before the 1st anniversary. I got up feeling lost and empty and they have more than contributed to making the day more than bearable. I'm Vegan, the food was good, (the soup and chocolate torte were yummy),the service and atmosphere was excellent and I cant thank them enough. Well done everyone you really made a difference today I was moved by your kindness and consideration x Ann

We had a pre Christmas meal here before the mad rush of the real one. The table we had was beautifully set and in prime position in front of the open fire. The Christmas meal was fabulous, we had a lovely time. The barman that served us was so efficient and friendly, I wish that I had asked his name, he is a massive asset to the pub.

Really nice traditional pub with raging fires. We've had lunch a couple of times, food is great value (it's a Kreen King Pub) and the staff are excellent. The pub is a great meeting point, with a great atmosphere. We are not from Baildon, but you can see it is a community hub. Previously I had the halloumi kabab, which didn't disappoint. This time the wife had corned beef pie, and I had the cheese and potato, for the price it's fantastic value, tasty to.

Great lunch. Crispy Chicken strips in a Louisiana-style coating with Texan-style BBQ sauce on a flat bread nan with salad & chips loads of chillies and lots of chips. Extra BBQ sauce. Really good.

Lovely staff, very friendly. Warm and cosy. Typical chain pub food but always nicely prepared and presented. Good value. Fun quiz with vouchers to be won on Wednesday evenings.

A real pub in the heart of the community. Hard to explain it. The best way is come and try for yourself. Big choice of food. Obviously beer. All good.

First time visiting today, but certainly won't be the last, fantastic meal, good choice and not expensive. Everything was cooked to perfection and hot. Looking forward to going again. Thanks everyone.

Thank you to everyone at The Malt Shovel for making our annual family Christmas get together possible on 17th Dec.Great service nothing was to much trouble. Food was good. Staff were very friendly, thank you for the gifts for the children. We all agreed it was one of our favourite venues so far. Lovely open fire made it feel very warm and cosy.

Very slow service-waited 45 mins for food(it wasnt particularly busy). No apology when it was served. Lots of dirty glasses etc cluttering tables. Ladies toilet is really grubby. Nice pint i6f John Smith's & the food is reasonably priced.

Great place, lovely staff! They went above and beyond for our Christmas dinner and even helped me to surprise my parents who didn't know I was coming. We got a beautiful table and I have never seen (and probably never will again) such a huge gravy pourer! Proper Yorkshire. Thank you so much for a lovely time. Highly recommend.

Lovely, cosy traditional pub with friendly staff, good selection of drinks & very dog friendly. Good choice of bar meals & a great pensioner's deal of 2 course for £3.99- amazing! The main course was a smaller portion but just enough at lunch time & tasty. Puddings were full sized & absolutely delicious! Mmm😊

Booked meal for 5. 30 got served 19.00! All of the party disappointed with aspects of the meal. They did refund prices of food. However shouting and arguing heard from kitchen. Thought unprofessional will not be returning in the bearr future.

Dog friendly outside seating and staff were lovely. Beer selection not fabulous.

A brilliant pub, happy bar staff, good chain pub food. A friendly atmosphere, from staff and regulars alike. Warmth provided by open hearth fires. As well as special doggy care extended by the management, fresh water laid on for walkers with canine chums. The food is what you would expect from a country pub, but well presented, hot and tasty. A definite pub for the traveller, and casual visitor. Well worth a visit.
