Maliha Indian Cuisine & Take Away in Taunton Deane

Came in with my partner for my birthday and was warmly welcomed by the staff. My partner is celiac and all the staff were very supportive and advised us on what they could do gluten free. The food was incredible and the portion sizes were huge. Would highly recommend this place and we will certainly be returning again and again.

From the moment we walked in the door I knew it was going to be a good night. They were very welcoming and seated us very quickly. The food was brought to our table not long after ordering, and I must say it really was the best balti special I have ever tasted in my life. The meat was succulent and the sauce was to die for. That coupled with the special fried rice left me wanting a lot more when I finished. So many flavours from the dish that I was actually very happy and excited to eat there. Overall we were a party of five and we all very much so enjoyed the experience and most importantly the food. I really couldn’t recommend this place enough

Visited again after not being in and was not disappointed, every time we go back the food just gets better and better! Amazing coke and amazing customer service! Nothing is ever too much trouble for these guys!

The food was really very good with great staff. However, the time between our starter being cleared and our main course was 45 minutes and there were not that many people eating in the restaurant. I can only think that they were doing lots of takeaways which slowed things down.

This is second visit after trips to the local theatre. On both occasions they let us in at around 21.45-quite rare in Taunton. Food is very good

We just called in early one Sunday evening driving back home to Exmouth. Pot luck that it was open as most restaurants seemed to be closed on Sundays. Great food - I would recommend the 'Specials' on the menu. Well cooked and presented. I was too distracted by the contemporary decor to notice the prices - but what you would expect to pay. . . and again too distracted by the food to take any photos. I think we stayed for three courses in the end - just couldn't eat any more.

As a previous frequent customer looked forward to this evening's meal however the food quality was not as used to. Meal requested as mild was very hot and vindaloo hot was mild. Noticed later that management had changed to one we recognised from somewhere else that was now shut down. It explained a lot. Will not return.

We visited as two couples, the decor is very pleasant although the lighting could be dimmed a little to improve the ambiance. The food was excellent and well presented, this was our first visit but we all agreed it won't be our last!

Excellent Curry. In my opinion this is the best in Taunton. Excellent Taste, Value & nice restaurant. If you knew the old Malia in Station Rd you will be pleased to learn that the Owners are here in Staplegrove Road.

Best curry in Taunton Decent portions, reasonably priced (especially on banquet night). Food is really tasty, you won’t be disappointed with any dishes meat or vegetarian. South Indian Green chicken (it really is green!!) mopped up with a garlic & chilli Nan bread is to die for. I would just have the garlic chilli Nan on its own but it makes it 10 times better eaten with the curry. Be warned though nobody will come near you for days as you will absolutely honk of garlic. If you like it super spicy, then a Shashlik with a vindaloo sauce on the side are the dishes of choice, of course it has to be paired with that garlic & chilli Nan bread!

I've been in Taunton on holiday and discovered this restaurant from the aroma of the food from outside. It smelt delicious and the food did not disappoint. I ended up going nearly every night of my stay. The staff are accommodating of me visiting with an assistance dog. Food wise, there's an excellent choice of dishes you don't find in many restaurants nationwide. All absolutely delicious.

I had a meal here for my birthday, and the service was friendly, welcoming and professional. It was really delicious food! I had a chicken tikka with pilau rice and my bf had chicken korma with basmati rice and naan bread, I had poppadoms. The portion sizes are very generous. The ambiance was cosy, romantic, charming and the decor is lovely with the twinkling lights. Perfect for couples and also families.

As soon as we walked in the door it felt warm and welcoming. Honestly a rather better quality place than we usually go to. The waiter was friendly and attentive without being 8ntrusive. We ordered from the banquet menu. We each ordered an extra poppadoms and chutney tray to start. The mixed platter was fabulous for a starter. I am not good with anything too hot, but the samosa was so delicious I ate it all. The chicken tikka was delightful as was the onion bhaji and my husband ate both the sheesh kebabs as he thought that may have been too hot for me. We had a mushroom rice and a pilau rice and a buttered chicken and a chiicken shaslick sissler. This was easily the best Indian meal we have had and a mile better than anything locally. Every item was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. I had a glass of pint grigio and my husband stuck to water as he was driving. The atmosphere was lovely and I felt very special. All this for only £44.20. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

Came for a curry night with a group of friends, this was definitely one of the best curries I’ve had in a long time! The service was amazing, the owner immediately took our order and promptly served our food. Everything was cooked fresh, and packed full of flavour. The portions were perfect! Can’t fault this curry house, I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try somewhere new! 10/10 👌🏼

This place was great! The food was well cooked, and abundant, hot (temperature) and very yummy. I am a cook and I know that this was done from scratch. No cream or oiliness to be seen unlike another Indian restaurants where cream and oil surfaces on top of the dishes and make them too greasy. This felt healthy well cooked. I look for recommendations and I went for the garlic masala lamb! Oh my my… it was beautifully tender and delicious. It melt in your mouth! I love saag aloo and this did not disappoint! But what was amazing was the friendliness and how lovely the service was.The place looked light and clean unlike other Indian restaurants that are dark and dingy! We decided to go out for our anniversary and we have been recommended this restaurant ! I am so glad we gave it a try! Thank you for making my anniversary meal feel special! Highly recommended!!

Initial impressions were good, sadly all our courses were disappointing … our poppadoms came out on a plastic basket that was dirty with dried food on it and even a hair, I wanted to complain but my husband didn’t want me to as we wanted to give the starter and main a chance. The starter came out with a salad that consisted of brown leaves and the meat was pretty tasteless (we were starving so ate it anyway) then the main I chose a dish that was described as thick and creamy sauce and the sauce was runny and not creamy in anyway, It wasn’t nice at all to taste and the chicken was dry almost like it wasn’t fresh. At this point we did complain and the gentleman basically accused us of making it up to get money off !! As successful professional people this was an absolutely appalling way to be treated and not the customer service experience one expects. We dine out a lot and love to give great reviews however this is one place we would not recommend and are quite happy never to go to again. Cheap Indian food with no care or attention to detail on how it is served and awful attitude towards customers if they don’t like what you say. A Customer care/how to deal with complaints session might be an idea!

Stopped for a meal while in the area, we were first in the restaurant as we were having an early meal. Staff were very polite and attentive. The food was excellent, the lamb you could actually taste and the spices were fresh too, not often I taste fresh ingredients while having a restaurant curry but here it was very prominent, great work on the Chefs part. Overall an excellent Curry and an enjoyable experience.

Our local, we always come back to it. Today instead of take away we dined in with the extended family. We welcomed and staff were really friendly and helpful with the menu. Food arrived in good time and was very tasty. Can not fault the service. Will always come back in the future!

We saw the good reviews and thought we would give this restaurant a try. We had a lovely relaxed family meal here on a Saturday night with good choice of dishes available, food was very nice and everyone helpful and friendly. Would recommend it.

We booked due to the good reviews on here but it was very quiet for a Friday night so could have just walked in. The food was excellent and staff extremely friendly. One gave us ideas of areas to visit for day trips over the weekend!

Family birthday at my house. We pre ordered online, for delivery. This was probably 3rd or 4th time we've used this particular service. Food always arrives promptly, it maybe because they know where we live now, but anyway, food is absolutely fab. I suppose I could go rambling on about the saag aloo, the lamb biryani or something, but what's the point, you guy's know the drill, you find a great curry house and you stick with it. This is our de facto takeaway for all the best reasons. Looking forward to paying a visit to the restaurant post pandemic.

Pre ordered from here as we normally do for us , we have to say it was excellent pipping hot , the variety of taste was incredible. The delivery lady always got a smile on her face. Excellent meal can't wait.to.sut in the restaurant again.

We have tried all the Indian takeaways in Taunton and this one is the very best , always good , always on time

The food was absolutely awful. We ordered 2 Bhuna’s but both had absolutely no taste to them, this a very standard dish you expect to get right from a curry house. We also ordered a South Indian green with chicken, a very strange green colour but it had a bit more flavour then the Bhuna but still wasn’t great. My son is just getting into curries and so ordered a Korma, it was runny and over sweet and just a poor very un Indian taste to it. To me it was absolutely disgusting. The rice had a strange burnt taste and smell to it and we couldn’t eat any of it. Both naan breads were over greasy, I don’t expect them to be that great being a takeaway but they were not nice. I won’t be ordering from here again, not one dish but all the dishes were poor. GIVE THEM A MISS.

My family and I visited this restaurant in September whilst on staycation in Taunton. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great too - very friendly and attentive !! There are a lot of veggie and vegan options too - I got the vegetable mayami and it was so tasty !! Definitely recommend visiting this restaurant!

Ordered our food at 8:20pm. Was told it would be delivered at 9:40pm, checked phone then only to see the time had been changed to 10:20pm!!! We only ordered food for 2 people and it took 2 hours!!!

This Indian restaurant was superb. Fantastic service and the food was absolutely delicious!!! Great vegetarian option for myself but also for meat eaters. Couldn’t fault- we left very happy and extremely full up! Lovely staff... Highly recommended.

Great food, great service, fantastic value for money, couldn't believe it when we got the bill as it was so cheap. Very attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. Really nice poppadoms with a variety of different dips we had not seen before. We had 4 different main courses and none of us had any complaints, I had king prawn pasanda which was very good.

I tried Maliha for the first time yesterday, and their restaurant is clean and comfortable, and run by friendly staff who really care about service. The food is amazing, really clean tasting, and it was refreshing to find it not swimming in oil. Their menu is marked up with Vegan and Vegetarian options, and they are able to convert many of the dishes on request. Also friendly to gluten-intolerant diners. I will be returning very soon!

Only in Taunton for a couple of days. Happened upon this place and after checking out the reviews we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. Food is excellent. So tasty. Tried a range of dishes from Chicken Tikka Biryani to Lamb Madras, Prawn Dhansak and even a Chicken Tikka Masala. All dishes tasted delicious. The spicier dishes had a lovely kick that came through smoothly after the intital lovely taste of the food hit your tastebuds. All the family commented that it was the nicest Indian food they had tasted. Lovely clean restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff/owner. Definitely recommended.

It was refreshing to be welcomed into the restaurant without pre-booking. Superb customer service, very clean and covid secure, and the food was some of the best we have ever eaten. Can highly recommend.

Decided I didn’t want to cook and met a few mates at Maliha & Taj for an insane curry. Huuuge portions and speedy service. Had the Lamb Korahi, mushroom rice and a cheeky keema naan. I physically couldn’t move after as there was enough to feed two people on my plate! Would recommend this place all day. Best curry house in town by far.

Great little find. Booked in on the hottest night of the year and was delighted to find the air con blasting out! Food was great, if a little rushed. Restaurant is bright and very clean. The chicken shashlik was the best I’ve had anywhere, tender and delicious. Some great vegi offerings for my daughter too. My only gripe was our waiter. Maybe he was having an off night, but he seemed disinterested and reluctant to be helpful. After such great food, it’s a shame he spoilt the experience. It would have been a 5 star rating otherwise.

Popped in with some friends on Saturday night, food was delicious and hot and the service was brilliant.We'd been to the old location for a few meals and the service is just as good as it was there.Definetly reccomend for anyone wanting a curry at a decent price!

Having eaten at the restaurant before via a recommendation from a friend me and some friends went back again but at the new location, and it's even better than before!!! The food is still great and thoroughly enjoyable but the restaurant's also massively improved. It's light bright and a very nice atmosphere and the staff are brilliant. Can't beat a good curry 5*

Our order never showed up!!! We ordered at approx. 6.50pm and we were given an approximate delivery time of 7.40pm. Come 8pm our food hadn't shown up, so we requested an update through the Just Eat app, and we were told that our delivery time had been changed to 8.35pm. At this point, we requested our money back and we were told that the restaurant would reimburse us just £3 of our £30 order as an apology, and that this would be applied to my Just Eat account as credit. Just Eat then sent us a notification to tell us that our order was on its way. 8.35pm came and went and our food did not show. We tried twice to ring the restaurant, but they did not answer their phone. We also sent a message on Facebook that they have not responded to. In the end we got so hungry and fed up of waiting that we had a McDonalds instead. Probably not as tasty as a takeaway from this restaurant would have been, but at least the food actually showed up in a timely fashion. Later on in the evening we checked the Just Eat app, and it was showing our order from here as delivered, which it certainly wasn't! We even checked our doorstep and down the side of the house to see if it had been left there without the driver knocking on the door or something. All in all there has been no communication whatsoever from the restaurant, and customer service is non-existent. We chose to order from this restaurant as it had really good reviews on Just Eat, Facebook and Trip Advisor, however I am afraid that I would not recommend ordering from this restaurant, nor will we be using it again. I do appreciate that the times we find ourselves in at the moment are difficult, and businesses are having to adapt, however that does not excuse the lack of communication and customer service that we received on this occasion.Still waiting on a full refund.

Would highly recommend. Booked in advance for a large takeaway order. It arrived on time and all the dishes were excellent. The driver was very friendly and helped us organise the distribution of the various dishes quickly and efficiently. Some extras had been added as a thank you for our large order. Would definitely use again.

Our first Indian since lock down ended and a wonderful atmosphere, great staff and incredible food. My wife had vegetarian and I had Ceylon Chicken Our starters were wonderful and the main courses were outstanding. The Tarka Dal was awesome and the coconut rice incredible.Lovely place and will be back

I have been using Maliha for many years and they have now moved and they are better then ever! I have never had a bad meal and the service is amazing!

I have been to this restaurant many times for takeaway and I have to say this is by far the best Indian takeaway I have ever tried. The customer service is very friendly the food is exquisite and the speed of delivery is always before the time is due. Would highly highly recommend this restaurant for sitdown and takeaway meals.

Food was 25 minutes late, rang and was told by belligerent manager that they were very busy and that food needs to cook! Suggested that they didn’t take more orders than they can deal with and don’t promise times when they know they cant achieve them. When food finally arrived, one dish was missing and one was completely wrong! The prawn puri had been microwaved so was floppy, the bhuna was watery and the chicken tikka masala madras hot was chicken madras (& yes I did emphasise what I wanted). Indian takeaways in Taunton are now the most dreadful I’ve ever had experience of (& I’ve eaten Indian food all over the country) and this one didn’t improve my impression. Avoid.

Since being in lock down we thought we would have a treat, well its going to be another 3 weeks at least before we can get out! As Maliha have now relocated and have a new web site we decided to try and order online. It was quite easy but noticed some of their best dishes were not showing 'Dhaka Special' for one. My wife had the Amm delight and I had the Lamb Tikka Dake Shori Josh.Web showed delivery in 45mins - perfect.50mins later no food arrived so called them up. At first they did not know of the order but double checked and said it was out for delivery so we waited. Did turn up 10mins later. If you have a 45min delivery then stick to it or if it is going to be an hour just say. We would not have chased. My lamb was very tough and very spicy/hot which was not shown on the menu. In the end had to chuck away. I did want the Dhaka Special but could not find it on the new web menu so meal & service was very disappointing overall.Will now have to wait till lock down is over and try to find other indian takeaways.......

The 10th of April on Friday night I ordered a chicken korma shag poneer and pilau rice but the food was very disgusting

So the guys have moved to the corner of Staplegrove Rd. the good remains top quality and I think is the best Indian about. The butter chicken was a revelation and marvellous Still open for take away and delivery so dive in. Absolutely brilliant with friendly service

This restaurant is a firm family favourite. We visited at the end of January to celebrate my sons birthday. As the taxi pulled up outside, I noticed a 'lease for sale' sign on the front. I enquired about it as soon as we got in the restaurant, apparently they are moving/taking over the old Taj Mahal building on the corner of Wood street, next to the dentist. That is definitely a much better building layout, so good luck with the new opening in a few weeks time.PS don't forget my opening night invite!!!

Absolutely brilliant Indian. All made fresh and if required the great staff can adjust the level of spice and heat to your liking. The menu is adventurous and all products are lovely We always enjoy the food and the prices are competitiveThere are many Indian restaurants to chose from but this is the go to place for us and we highly recommend it !

First visit to this Indian restaurant as we always go to the Gurkha but fancied a change. What a fantastic restaurant, the menu is great and the customer service was exceptional . We ordered a main course but misunderstood that it came with lamb chicken and prawns we just thought you could have it with one meat so we thought we were getting just chicken as we don't eat lamb or prawns .On discovering a prawn I called over the waiter who informed us that's how it comes ,I told him I don't eat lamb or prawns so he took the dish and said no problem we will do you one with just chicken . What a lovely thing to do as it was our mistake. Will defo be back or get a take away in the near future .

Went here after checking local reviews for curry houses and this came out as one of the top. Have to say, not disappointed, and will return again when next in the area. Mo who served us was very welcoming and explained about the milder currys available as she doesn't like hot spices. Really lovely curry though, and will definitely return when next visit the area. Highly recommended!

Okay so my favourite Indian restaurants in Taunton have previously included Guddi and Gikki and the Ghurkha .. however this is the second time I’ve ordered at the Maliha and have to say this take away surpasses them all ! Tonight had prawn Madras and vegetable Korahai with chilli naan, pilau rice and poppadoms. Al of it was superb ! Perfect headless and lots of flavour ! Chilli naan was fab !

Maliha is a regular choice for us, the food is always delicious and the staff are always friendly and accommodating

Great family meal, two young children who were at bit noisy, but the staff were brilliant with them. Food was spot on.

Visiting the area and fancied Indian, managed to fit us in and the best Indian I’ve had in a long time! Nothing was too much , very attentive staff and large selection of dishes !

Over the years I’ve tried many curry houses in Taunton, I just wish I’d found this one sooner. Can’t fault any of the 4 dishes I ordered. Looking forward to our next family meal with Maliha. Please try this place and I hope you’ll agree that it is fantastic.

The staff are a delight from arrival to departure, welcoming, attentive and simply friendly. The menu is slightly more limited than many similar curry restaurants - that’s an observation not criticism. I ate the best Peshwari Naan I have ever had here, my two friends agreed, chapatis were similarly top notch. Side dishes, Dahl, Brinjal and Bhindi Bhajis were well prepared and served promptly and hot (temperature) which isn’t always the case. Main courses, vegetable, chicken, lamb and prawn were also similarly executed and presented hot. The spicy saffron Rice is a treat and the portion enough for two with ease. Nice that Bangla beer is served not just ubiquitous overrated Cobra. The decor is a little ‘tired’ and there are some tables that are a perhaps cramped.

Single visitor after cricket at the County Ground. Great food that was full of taste and spices. In particular the sauces were not full of the oil and fats that are so often a feature of the average curry. Service was friendly, enthusiastic and efficient. It would appear that Taunton is well served for restaurants on the curry circuit - I would certainly recommend this one !

The food was amazing, as the food was a little bit late I had to wait but received a free can of Coke to apologise for the wait, and was welcomed really nicely Would definitely recommend for take away or sit in.

We visited yesterday and booked for 6pm. It took 15 minutes for them to seat us and then another half an hour for drinks to arrive at around 645pm. Starters arrived at 7.15pm and after complaining our main course eventually arrived at 8pm. We were promised a free drink but this did not materialise. The restaurant was not full but they seemed to be prioritising takeaway orders judging by the amount of bags that went past us. The young 16 year old waitress was in tears due to dealing with numerous takeaway cancellations on the phone where people had waited for more than an hour and lack of help from the management to deal with this so our daughter went to check to see if she was ok as the management did not seem to care. The standard comment for those waiting in the restaurant was it will be another 5 to ten minutes and for those on the phone it would be a further half an hour. There is no doubting that the food is good but there are not enough chefs or general staff. Will not be visiting again and I hope the waitress finds another job soon.

Spent a lot of money at this restaurant. Ordered takeaway and told an hour. No probs. Phoned after 2 to be told another 30 minutes. Politely cancelled order and asked for a refund to be told manager / owner to busy to do it !! Lots of Indians in Taunton mate and yours is not that special anyway. Absolutely appalling service avoid like the plague

Visited here after searching on Trip Advisor for an Indian restaurant in Taunton. It's pretty unassuming from the outside but don't be fooled - the food is fantastic! We will definitely be back the next time we pass this way. Only wish it was our local. Flavoursome and beautifully presented. Really friendly staff and great service. Wonderful!

Things didn’t look good when we realised we were the only customers on a Saturday night. It was to our advantage though because the food was amazing. We ordered from the vegetarian part of the menu and I have to say the food was remarkably good. Definitely worth a visit!

Lamb vindaloo and special rice!

We went here on a Saturday night and it was very quiet. The food was nice, but thought the cutlery and plates/bowls were a bit outdated. It needed a bit of TLC. The lamb was quite chewy and the saag poneer was quite creamy for us. We have had a takeaway before and thought this was better.

An interesting menu with some specialities that I hadn't seen before as well as the more familiar curry options. The restaurant was fairly quiet on a Friday night, but the atmosphere and decoration in the restaurant was good. The service was friendly and attentive, but the highlight was definitely the curries.
