Absolutley delicious authentic indian food! Look forward to eating here again!

I had an amazing lunch at malayalam today. The dish was absolutely delicious—fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully plated. What made the experience even better was the exceptional service from Maria. She was warm, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, perfect for a midday break. Highly recommend☺️🥰

The thali offers a good variety, with more vegetable options than meat. While two of the curries tasted quite similar, it would be great to see a bit more variety in the meat options especially if they included the Beef Ularthiyathu, which is one of the best dishes I’ve had!

Amazing banana fish leaf fillet, a perfect spices with lemon rice. Must Try! @ Veg thali was also good Filter coffee is not authentic Indian filter coffee. But they were kind enough to take it back.

The food is overrated. Once upon a time it was good. But lately it has come down.

We order Dosa & Team both was below average.

My wife and I were from Hong Kong and were first time there. We especially appreciate the young girl who was serving in the morning of 28th of April. She was so friendly and even remembered us standing in front of the restaurant the day before. She should be a very considerate server! We tried the breakfast menu and found it extremely good and new to us!

I got only 2 small piece chicken in the name of non-veg thali ….service was good but, the food portion is very small for the price

Great choice to eat some south Indian food! Would recommend the rice pancakes and the parotha! We had chilli paneer and the poppadom tray for a starter! We loved the Okra side dish and ordered it twice!

Haven’t had such amazing mallu food in a while. Loved it. We had both the chicken curries (both equally amazing!) and paratha and kallappam and a lamb starter. So good! Happened to stumble this place during a visit to Eastbourne and so glad we did.

Wonderful 1st visit..staff were very helpful & welcoming... really interesting food options which staff are happy to explain nothings to much trouble...the food was exceptional & really tasty & great value

Took my Father here for dinner, we had an amazing time. The food was really superb, incredible flavour, cooked perfectly. The hospitality was also great, we felt well looked after. Would highly recommend this place, we will be back!

Poor meat quality, I tried most of the main course and the taste is not even close to traditional Kerala dish as mentioned in the description, overrated price for the portion and taste. Also when I ordered lamb dish, it tasted beef, so please make sure.

Had a weekend in Eastbourne and wanted to try something new. Lovely restaurant, call to book to avoid disappointment as this little restaurant was busy on Saturday night when we went. Staff were attentive, informative. Food tasted amazing. Was a little spicy for me and one of the staff members "Estha" made it less spicy, nothing seemed too much trouble. Great choice of dishes, really good selection of seafood.

Smaller portions and poor quality. We ordered three Kallappam with beef roast and one masala dosa. The £8.45 beef roast had only five pieces of beef, and the masala dosa was disappointing. The sambar tasted so bad I couldn’t even eat it. I never expected this from a Malayalee restaurant. Disappointed 👎👎

Masala Dosa was out of this world, extremely tasty, Dosa was perfectly cooked. Also I had the Spinach Dhal with Roti which was also very tasty. Highly recommend, will definitely be back when visiting Eastbourne. 10/10

It was deliverered on time but i am a regular customer and im quite aware of the quantity Malayalam offers. Todays carrot stir fry portion was substantially low. I have taken a picture. Happy to send it.

Very tasty authentic South Indian cuisine. Great service and lovely restaurant, perfect in the evenings as we managed to snag a parking space right outside. Accommodating for a baby/ child.

What everyone else says! Just go! We were the first through the doors at 5.30pm. Within 15 minutes most of the tables were full! Great food, great service.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Malayalam in Eastbourne, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The Appam and Egg Roast were hands down the best I’ve ever had – perfectly soft appams paired with a flavorful, aromatic egg roast. I also tried the Idli and Chutney, which was light, fluffy, and complemented perfectly with the tangy chutney. To top it all off, the tea was exceptional, with a rich, soothing taste that made the meal even more enjoyable. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the service was excellent. Highly recommend this gem for anyone craving authentic Kerala cuisine!

Popped in on Saturday night as they were closing. They very kindly did us a quick Chicken curry with tomato rice . The guy said it would be different to what we normally have when we get a curry. He wasn't wrong. It was lovely. Great flavours and really light. Very friendly staff as well. Definitely recommend this place 👍👍

Everything would be fine if the waiter was more interested in the customer. The table was not cleaned, we were not offered anything and we waited a long time for the bill.

Glad we visited because we wanted spicy food. Don’t bother with the pre-starter, very expensive for what it is. Main course of paneer (very nice and spicy) and okra dish, with chapatis and apalam. The desert of payasam was disappointing, just hot milk with vermicelli and lacking in sweetness and flavour. Restaurant needs a big upgrade.

Brilliant food, fast service. Perfect level of spice and really nuanced flavours. Served hot and fresh and I think the starters are expensive but the curries are pretty good portion sizes Dosa and calamari are great; And the thali was fantastic too. Strongly recommend and will be returning if I’m in the area in the future

A real gem. Delicious food (in particular I recommend the medicinal soup!). The waiter was lovely and service was prompt for our group of 8. Everybody enjoyed their delicious meals and I would definitely recommend if you are in Eastbourne.

A few months back, I visited this place early in the morning, just as they were opening for the day. I tried Idli, Sambar, and Chutney along with some chickpea curry for breakfast from this place, and I was thoroughly impressed. The flavors were incredibly authentic, natural, and rich with the essence of South Indian cuisine. Every bite was a delightful experience, capturing the true taste of the region. Additionally, the staff was exceptionally kind and helpful, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. I truly appreciated their warm and attentive service. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a genuine South Indian breakfast experience!

Surprised to discover unique flavours of Kerela in Eastbourne. We enjoyed delicious Biryani, Vada and Fish fry. Great ambience as well...

The chicken biryani was absolutely amazing. It was extremely flavourful and had a great spiciness to it! We also liked the Ulluvada and the chickpea masala. The service was very forthcoming. I told them I would like to have it spicier after they served me the dish and they made a new one that was fantastic and free of charge. I think this is very rare these days. The price for value is very good because the portions are big and delicious. We left with a full belly and a generous tip. I can really recommend this restaurant.

We really enjoyed our meal here, service was very quick, drinks were lovely, the food was TASTY! We thought it was a lovely change from the normal kind of indian food we go for. We felt satisfied but not weighed down after eating here. We loved the keralan fermented rice breads, yum they were so gooood! Lots of varied vegetarian options, in particular can I highly recommend the mushroom and potato curry - the flavour was fantastic! Delicious! Thanks for a lovely meal!

As authentic as it gets. Enjoyed 2 of my lunches here as someone who is new to EB. The chef is happy to customize your spice levels so it was refreshing! I do find this place just a bit steep on the pocket but thee portion size makes up for it. I think I'm going to be a regular here as long as I live here. Highly recommend for Indian food enthusiasts. We have been to this restaurant on many occasions before, however this time, the service was despicable and disappointing. As our under 2 years old daughter was not well on that day and after looking at the restaurant’s menu online, we noticed that there was no kid’s menu. Hence we decided to pop at the local fish n chips and grab something light for her instead of having a curry at the restaurant. However, we were approached by one member of the staff team, who told us that we were not allowed to bring food from outside into the restaurant and that this time they’ll let our daughter have it. We were shocked and asked them if they have a kid’s menu and of course they didn’t. We ordered our food and waited for more than 35 minutes and still no food for my husband and I. We were so glad that we brought our daughter’s food as she would have waited as well. The staff who spoke to us was very condescending and rude, by interrupting our conversation, no customer service and listening skills at all. We live in a democratic country where a child’s wellbeing is paramount! How can such unprofessional behaviour and comment be even tolerated…..This restaurant is not family and child friendly. We would never go there again !!!

The tastiest Indian food I’ve eaten in years. I had a chicken curry in a peppery sauce which I really enjoyed, complemented by melt in the mouth breads and perfectly cooked rice. My friend’s chicken biryani dish was superb. Service could have been a bit more attentive but forgivable given food quality and the fact they were extremely busy on a Saturday night - glad we booked ahead.

One day we noticed on the menu that this restaurant had a beef curry on offer and we knew right away that we had to try it before we returned from our holiday! Unfortunately very few Indian/Pakistani restaurants offer this type of food, most places only have chicken and lamb. When we went on a weekend, it was very busy, they were booked until the end. This made us think that the food must be delicious. So we didn't give up and decided to order a takeaway. We got an offer, if we order over £20, we will get free masala potatoes (Kerala Kizhangu Masala), which I have to say were delicious, but the Nadan Pothu Curry impressed me the most! The portion was so huge that we could barely eat it for two people, we got rice with vegetables, which is always served together and two huge Parathas. The food arrived hot and very well packed.

It was a very busy evening which probably explains the slightly below par service. Otherwise staff were pleasant & food choice was very good. Unusual to find a Keralan restaurant, they tend to have slightly less spicy dishes & several seafood options.

The best Indian restaurant we have ever discovered. An explosion of flavors, varied and rare dishes, attentive service. Don't forget to make a reservation if you want to be able to sit down at this restaurant! Particular attention is paid to vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free. We can only recommend.

A lovely restaurant on terminus road, their food is delicious and super well priced, staff are lovely, and very happy to answer questions or explain meals. I can't recommend the lunch deal enough to anyone as well, it's an amazing lunch with a great selection for the price.

The food is delicious, but my favourite thing about their food is that it's not full of too much salt and oil. When you finish your meal, you don't feel regret over eating something unhealthy. Highly recommend.

The food has it all. By far the best Indian in town. The curries are excellently seasoned, the starters full of variety and wonderful flavors. And: The lunch deal with three curries, a soup, rice and papadum for £10 is unbeatable.

This place is a gem Delicious food best Indian food I have ever had, the Karala Paratha 😋😋so light and buttery. “Down and dirty” breaking into the shell on crab. Great. Friendly and attentive staff. I will certainly be going back. “Icing on the cake” for me was their honesty. The menu is properly priced to include service as it should be. Gratuities (well deserved here) are at the customers discretion. I hate the nonsense of a so called service charge being added, by so many restaurants. It is nothing of the sort. The charge for service is the difference between cost and sale prices. As such the menu price should be set to reflect this and cover all overheads, without the euphemism of a so called ,”service charge” or mandatory gratuity to supplement wages.

Tasty breakfast served in a clean environment. There needs to be flexibility in side dishes being offered should one feel hungry after the standard breakfast! Amex card is not accepted!

We stayed at Eastbourne for 2 days and went to this restaurant 2 times. We really enjoyed the Indian food. Service was great and fast. Price is also reasonable. Location is good.

We just happened across this restaurant having arrived in Eastbourne for the weekend. What a find! Having travelled awhile in Kerala we were so impressed with the quality of the food and the incredible taste of all the different curries. The veg thali was delicious and well worth the price. The spicy soup was a surprise to the palate and the 7 curries with rice and an unusual coconut bread were all absolutely delicious and individual in their spices and flavours. The sweet, milky dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. The only critique would be the drinks that were a little too sweet for our taste. Next time we'll ask for less sugar. The service was attentive, friendly and prompt. There was no long wait for food despite the restaurant being busy on a Friday bank holiday weekend. Estha, our waiter was always smiling and professional, asking if we'd enjoyed the food and were we ready for the next course(s). We'll be back for a Keralan breakfast before the weekend is out!

Food is not good. We tried Kozhikode dum biriyani but it had the taste of stale food.

What a gem! Ate here early on Thursday evening and it was quiet when we arrived but had authentic music playing in the background that reminded me of days travelling in Asia. The service was superb and we were given great advice on best food to try. Everything was delicious. We were really well looked after throughout and are looking forward to trying more on the menu.
