Favoloso Cafe in Eastbourne

Underwhelming. Handily placed for the Devonshire Park Theatre across the road, and we came here for a pre-show lunch. The space is nice and airy and it’s a good place for a chat. But our fish and chips wasn’t a patch on the Holiday Inn next door (which was temporarily closed) - fish was a bit dry and had too much batter, and the chips were thin and not what you’d normally expect with fish. Service was a bit offhand too. And I query whether they can substantiate the claim that their cod is ‘locally caught’ since most cod sold in the UK is from Iceland, Norway and the Barents Sea.

Huge place. We only went for ice cream. It was really packed, which is a great sign! Very popular. We will return for food and ice cream sometime. There was a huge range of ice creams in the far right-hand corner. Three different types of sorbet, standard chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, ferrero roche, milkybar, bueno bar, raspberry, pistachio, rum & raisin, banana, coconut, lime and others I've forgotten. Cornets or cups are available. Delicious. Clean. Friendly. Happy to recommend!

We love this place! I have been visiting since I was a child. Now I return with my partner and he loves it too! Great prices, clean, tasty and speedy service and not pretentious.

I visited here on Thursday 17th April. The takeaway window for ice cream is not open so you must go inside to order. Another lady was queuing there and we both waited for a long time. There seemed to be a lot of staff milling around trying to avoid eye contact with us. As I have a very young baby, so didn’t want to continue to wait with no service, I asked the lady who I had been standing with if she had been served at all. She said no, and that no one seemed to be taking any notice of her. I walked up to the till at the food order end and tried to get the attention of one of the young staff that had so far, completely ignored us. It took me a fair while to manage to get any of them to acknowledge me. I asked a younger girl if anyone was serving at the ice cream window. It was met with a “what?”, I repeated my question, “yes, I’m coming!” As if I should have known all this time while you ignored me! By this time another lady had entered with two children, and joined the queue. The girl came over and rudely said to me, “Well, how do I know who is first?” I explained that the lady in front of me was first, then me, then the lady with the two children. I asked for 2 single 99’s, which are £3.85 as per the photograph. She went on to charge me £9.80. I was a bit confused and asked if the cone cost more? She said, “No, the flake!” Reluctantly, I paid, but felt like she had overcharged me on purpose because I had deigned to ask if there was anyone serving. As you can see from the photograph, 2 single 99’s should have only cost me £7.70, so unless they’re displaying incorrect prices, I was overcharged and had rude service. I am exhausted from looking after a newborn, so just took my ice cream and left, but I won’t be returning in the future if this is the kind of service I should expect. So disappointing! I’ve lived in the Eastbourne area for nearly 3 years, and visited Favoloso quite a number of times, but this may be the last. Why would I pay to be treated so rudely, and made to overpay? The ice cream is generally nice, hence the 2 star rating, but not worth being swindled for.

Love this cafe! The dubai pistachio ice cream is amazing! All of their ice creams look amazing and tasted even better! If you are in Eastbourne this is must go! Great staff and very good service!

First time been there today and the hot chocolate was too sugary, the staff complained in a rude way because I was not in the queue and thought I was skipping the queue. The place is so messy, you should put a sign where people have to order.

I love Favoloso ! It reminds me of a 1960's ice cream parlor, a real nostalgic gem. It serves a wide selection of drinks, cakes and pastries, lunches and food. And ice cream ! It's always busy and the staff are super friendly. It's a real Eastbourne institution and is not to be missed.

Great spot in Eastbourne for a quick breakfast or snack. First time trying a full English here and it did not disappoint. Hoping to be back!

I tried to call the Cafe 18:00 but the No is either non operational or, turned off, not a great promotion for business!😞

Food is normally always nice from here but not today. Roll is hard. Bacon undercooked. And asked for egg well done and they sent the most runny egg which means I now won’t eat the sandwich. Nice one!

Large selection of ice-cream sundaes. Good selection of breakfast options, lunchtime sandwiches, panini etc and cooked meals of generous portions. Dogs are welcome inside. On street parking is possible but can be limited at busy times being close to the theatre.

My Eggs Benedict arrived with a hair in it. Second attempt: hollandaise was barely warm, eggs undercooked and muffins anaemic. Not pleasant to eat. Service relatively efficient but generally indifferent. There are better brunch options in Eastbourne so I won’t return.

Popped in for a bite to eat before going to Congress Theatre. Just had a ham and chees panini with salad and a cool rose lemonade. Sat in back right near the toilet entrance which was really drafty. Food and drink lovely, reasonably priced. Staff very friendly. Good location.

Was served by a lovely young girl, very accommodating. However we had got some ice creams and were just eating them in for 10 mins seeing as it was in the evening and cold outside which the girl gave us permission to do. But then overheard the owner/manager rudely reprimand the girl as she did not make us take them out and was very passive aggressive towards us as he made sure to say it loud enough so we could hear which made us feel very unwelcome so we left.

really harsh fluorescent lights. Food was overpriced, cutlery smelled like egg. Milkshakes were ok but were presented horribly.

Just stopped off for a coffee in this classic Italian cafe and loved it. They even do pots of tea for customers who don’t want a cappuccino with froth. Will definitely go back 🇮🇹☕️❤️

Very pleasant staff and cafe. I ate there every day for my breakfast. Ice creams are to die for. Nice food for early evening meal, including Pie and Mash with Liquor. Beware, they close at 7.30pm!

I got stuck in a really bad storm so cafe to cafe favoloso. I was really satisfied with their asparagus soup, which warmed me up like a mother’s embrace. Most of the other clientele sat deeper in the restaurant, but in my view if take the window seat for it gives you a beautiful view of the buildings. The staff were very kind.

Spacious Italian infusion cafè. ☕️Extensive menu, from English breakfast to more sophisticated taste as Eggs Benedikt or Bagel, meat lasagne or Lamb shank. Greats selection of various ice cream. We loved the atmosphere and that our dog was welcomed, staff were helpful and friendly. No wonder this cafè is so popular not only by tourists but by locals too. I am adding this on my list once I am around Eastsbourne, and it is up to you if you follow my advice☺️

Lovely restaurant, definitely worth a visit if you're in Eastbourne. The puddings are amazing. Great friendly and relaxed atmosphere with good food at reasonable prices. We went for dinner and found ourselves going back for breakfast the next morning.

Excellent selection and varieties of Ice cream, so good had to revisit !!! Watch put for the Seagulls if your sitting outside though

This was our second visit to Favoloso, we had previously eaten dinner and this time breakfast. The staff were very accommodating with my dietary request and the quality of the food was excellent. I would certainly recommend Favoloso.

Family friendly place, well known for its large ice cream based sundaes. Must be doing something right as the queues are always long!

Brilliant place to eat, caters for all, staff friendly and helpful. Dog friendly, which was essential for us (they even brought our dog a sausage out to eat).

Oh gosh you have to go and try the ice cream!!!! I am a fan of gelato but i must be honest this is the best gelato i have eaten in the area of Eastbourne/Bexhill.

Overpriced and poor serving. 2 scoops of icecream in a cone for £7 was very very expensive. Icecream was ok but nothing special and certainly not for that price. The lady also left a cone napkin actually inside the cone tand scopped the icecream on top, we only noticed when my daughter got down to the last bit.

A busy popular restaurant with some outside seating.

Place looks nice and staff polite but no vegan options so couldn’t eat here.

We ordered 2 full English. the breakfast only comes with one toast and no tea or coffee. Good teapot though

I was there at 4pm on 13/7/24, asking if they offered ice coffee. When I left the counter for payment, my partners saw two waitresses rudely laughed out loud and backbited. Maybe they thought I did not understand. Very terrible service at this point. The drink is not well made too, my ice mocha is sandy because of chocolate powder. The hot chocolate burnt my partner’s tongue. Will not comeback for sure.

Had a pot of tea and a rock cake, both hit the right spot, the meals looked amazing so will revisit next time in Eastbourne Revisited for one of thier pies, wasn't disappointed, delicious!

I have visited favoloso a few times when I visit Eastbourne, must say that they never disappoint. Had their breakfast, cake, sandwich and now trying their jacket potatoes sundae and ice cream! The service is good, polite. Atmosphere is great, high ceiling open interior, lovely place especially if the weather is sunny. I would recommend this place for people visiting Eastbourne. The fatal attraction sundae is good, and moreish because It's not too sweet. Their tuna jacket potato is great as well.

It was bloody bedlam in there. Four dogs, one of which wouldn't stop barking, four babies, two of which wouldn't stop shrieking and crying, and a woman who couldn't stop coughing. We four bolted down our food as quickly as we could and fled, to get dessert and coffee somewhere else. We'll certainly think twice before going back there!

Delivery originally stated between 19:05 to 19:15. Even though driver there then advised delivery 19:35. Finally arrived at 19:39. Food stone cold and not very appealing. Was a treat as feeling under the weather. Should have stuck with a tin of soup

Lovely, unpretentious old fashioned cafe. Our favorite place in Eastbourne. We had dinner and breakfast here. The pan fried halibut was excellent and the ice cream sundaes are amazing.

Nice ice cream & soft drinks served in a clean environment where some staff seem to have a grim face at the ice cream bar & enjoy slamming glasses down on the customers' table, which is not good at all!

We came here here for coffee and a bit of patisseries. Order your food at the counter. Ample indoor seating. Large menu to choose from starter to dessert.

Delicious food will definitely be ordering again

We have eaten here in previous years and been happy with the food and the service. HOWEVER on Sunday 26th May we had an awful meal. We ordered two cheese and tomato sandwiches. Normally after an order is taken it takes a few minutes or longer before it is ready, but not today. Bearing in mind the cafe was very busy we were prepared to wait. However within about two minutes our sandwiches were ready. As soon as we started to eat our meal we realised the bread was very dry(stale?). The bread also appeared not to have any butter on it. We left the bread and ate the cheese and tomato. It seemed that the sandwich had not been made to order as we had previously experienced, but made sometime earlier which would explain why it was delivered so quickly. We didn’t bother to complain because some other reviewers who’d had bad experiences said they received no satisfaction when they complained. We certainly won’t be buy sandwiches from here anymore.

Update: Two years later and, sadly, Favoloso has changed... unfortunately not for the better. The service is mediocre and the price of the ice cream is ridiculously expensive! It would have been ok if the standard of the sundaes hadn't dropped, however they have and £10 for two scoops of ice cream; a spoon of tinned fruit; squirty cream and a wafer is madness. Such a shame!! 2022 - Would highly recommend Favoloso Cafe! Good food at sensible prices, and amazing ice cream sundaes!!

Stop pushing Salad on orders as this is the 2nd time you put it in the Bag, I can't eat it! I asked for no Tomato but you still gave it to me and you gave me 2 sausage and onion sandwiches when I only wanted 1, also Eggs were overcooked!

Ham & Cheese omelette very well cooked and delicious Chips nice large and fluffy with just the right amount of salt, Eccles cake just perfect, didn't need salad as I rarely eat it buy still good qaulity, overall, for the price, thoroughly satisfied 😋 👌

Popped here for a toastie and ended up getting a milkshake. Favo’loso is fabulously retro with a smoked glass ceiling and a classic diner menu. Was very busy with pre-show theatre goers but sitting outside with my ice cream milkshake on a sunny day was lovely.

Very rich. Very delicious ice cream and cakes. The morsels with eyelet are a delight.

Favoloso Cafe in Eastbourne caught our eye with its classic decorations, so my friends and I popped in on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The menu was huge, offering everything from big breakfasts to yummy waffles and ice cream sundaes. I went for a cone with two scoops – the pistachio was super creamy and tasty, but the rum and raisin was a bit blah and icy. The girl at the ice cream counter seemed pretty grumpy and rude, almost making me want to complain right then and there. Despite that, Favoloso Cafe is still worth a visit for its variety of tasty treats and cozy vibes.

Absolutely love flavoloso cafe ! 😍 Been coming here for a few years with my family for meals or just dessert. Fantastic spacious cafe, seating indoor and outside . A wide selection of traditional English hot and cold food ,full English breakfast, sandwiches , jacket potato, burgers , fish and chips, and the hearty favourites as well , cakes , ice-cream desserts , pastries , and my favourite a wide selection of sundaes 😍! The customer service here is 5⭐ and are always so friendly and welcoming plus the food always looks well presented . The staff were so patient today when I brought my disabled daughter and her friend in and there wanted to order and pay. Definitely a welcoming environment! Also a across the road from the Congress theatre so a great place to go and eat after watching a show or visiting the art gallery !. Family friendly place too!

Visited this place whilst craving a breakfast bagel and they did not disappoint!! This is your retro-vibe cafe experience. You walk past a pretty great selection of baked goods to order from a very vast menu! Prices seemed reasonable, staff were great and the food came to the table extremely quickly I had the bacon and egg bagel which comes with hash browns (my favourite) and it was all very delicious! No complaints from me

They were quite tasty, but would be even better with quorn sausages i eat in Favoloso with my mum & dad ocasionally. I asked For Brown Rolls, But Got White Instead,, Perhaps they didn't have any in stock at the time, I'd Just like to say that they fold a really good cheese & mushroom omellette, & the chips are lovely, they are even nicer than they used to be.

Crazy busy which we did expect for a Sunday but we were unsure as to why others who placed after us got their foods first yet ours was a much less hard order. Very expensive place and I didn't feel it was worth what we got. Also when we asked a gentleman ( tall, bald and in a smart shirt behind the counter) where our food was because it was 40 minutes now waiting for sandwiches he just went " just wait". We get it's busy but no why be rude I have no idea.

Best ice creams in eastbourne don't mess with best you will not be disappointed their meals are also very filling they even do pie and mash with liquor 😉

Had a lovely croissant & hot drink here, staff are lovely & welcoming. It is dog friendly too & the sausage for our dog was a lovely touch! Seems like quite a popular place, the food was ok however not the best value for money.

This has been my daily eatery of choice whilst being in Eastbourne for 6 weeks. I cannot praise it high enough, not only is the food first class but the service from the staff has been a sheer delight - even remembering my order daily! Thank you and see you next time.

Lovely place, great atmosphere. Good for coffee and a cake (big cake selection on display to choose from) or a 'proper meal'. Handy for the beach, easy on road parking.
