The room I booked was tiny and had a very strong sewage smell so asked to be moved. They kindly obliged to a different room which was bigger, clean and well organised but we were disturbed all night by the sound of an air con unit outside despite the window being closed. This really needs addressing as it kept us awake. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The downstairs of the hotel seemed really lovely and the breakfast room looked inviting (we ate breakfast elsewhere). The location is fabulous, right by the beach, but you do need to pay for parking. Overall I would return if we had a quiet room that was slightly bigger. The facilities were very basic. The bed was 2 singles pushed together but was comfy. The room was cold, blankets really should be provided or the heating sorted as the rads were cold. Our view was not nice, car park and roof of another part of the hotel with the noisy air con unit on it. Very disappointed and we cancelled our second night. It's dog friendly which is helpful but there is a charge which we weren't told about.

Underwhelming. Handily placed for the Devonshire Park Theatre across the road, and we came here for a pre-show lunch. The space is nice and airy and it’s a good place for a chat. But our fish and chips wasn’t a patch on the Holiday Inn next door (which was temporarily closed) - fish was a bit dry and had too much batter, and the chips were thin and not what you’d normally expect with fish. Service was a bit offhand too. And I query whether they can substantiate the claim that their cod is ‘locally caught’ since most cod sold in the UK is from Iceland, Norway and the Barents Sea.
