lovely food as always and excellent service too.

The food arrived like warm. The rice was stuck together as it wasn’t hot.

Late by 1.5hours and food very bland and tasteless

Poor service, forgot half the order and told it would take too long to send the rest. Absolutely shocking. Would advise to not order from here if you are wanting any kind of customer service or quality of food. The food we did actually get could not have been blander. Cheers Maks

We placed an order at 6:10pm estimated delivery at 7:30pm but still waiting for it to arrive and it’s gone 9pm, we only live 5mins away - wish we had ordered to collect! I can appreciate sometimes things go wrong but a phone call to inform how delayed they are would have been great. Edited to add, it’s now almost 10pm so nearly 4 hours since the order and two and a half hours late.

This was our first time ordering from maks & we weren’t disappointed. We had ordered the beef & black pepper dish with chips. The beef was delicious & the chips were cooked just right. We also ordered the pork & fried rice & for us if you order from any Chinese & the rice is cooked to perfection then you know the meal is going to be nice & that’s exactly what we received with our meal. Will definitely order again.

Not worried about being a little late. Maks consistently delivers good food. Local hero for us

My order was sent wrong. We got a small salt n peeper box instead of a large. I phoned up and within an hour they had sent the rest of the large box! Very good customer service guys👍

Ordered from them in the past and was great either delivery or collection good size portions and started using them again now I’m back in York and still as good

When ordered app said would be 45mins to a hour! Once we received confirmation was nearly 2 hours

Steak with black bean sauce was very thick! Like thick gravy with jelly in it! Awful!. 2nd dish the plum sauce was nice but the duck was very chewy! Had to use a tooth pick after first few pieces! Chips cold but egg fried was nice Overall I wouldn't order again. I tried

We ordered on Sunday night Great delivery time did not have to wait long but probably cause it was quiet. However food was bland and no taste and chicken tasted funny so did not eat it. 80% food went in bin very disappointed and spent over £40 waste of money! Won’t be ordering again.

Food took 2 hours to arrive. Had to call twice - they informed on first call it was out for delivery, then informed it had been delivered - called again 20 mins later to be told that we would be their ‘first stop’.

We was staying at a caravan site at York and ordered our meal through just eat it was well worth the money and there was loads of food for the money. The meal was hot and tasted beautiful we really enjoyed it was that good we've moved to another site and just ordered another meal for tonight. Also the lady who delivered was lovely too. Food was really bad. We used to always go the Maks but it’s changed. Won’t be ordering from them again. The food tasted sweet. The chicken wings were really low quality. Would not recommend.

It's not often I put 5 stars in a review if I like a place it's usually 4 you have to really impress me and this was Absolutely GORGEOUS the food is amazing filling the portion sizes are enough to feed the entire royal family, The delivery time can be long but this is because they are cooking this stuff fresh no warmups for quick delivery which on its own also deserves a point I would rather wait than have a quick warmup. Expensive but worth it absolute perfection best Chinese in York.

The prawn starter was lovely. However, the fillet steak was two large lumps in a black bean sauce that was unremarkable I had expected the meat to be in small small tender pieces. The chicken in the special curry was ok but the other meat was tough. The chips had been pushed into an overfull bag and consequently were dry. The boiled rice was fine. We won't be back.

I didn't order a full meal this time but decided to get some spare ribs and chicken wings. I'm not very good with salt so I ordered the ordinary ones with the Peking sauce. Absolutely delicious as Maks food always is.

We placed an order and i can honestly say its the worst meal we have ever ordered,my husbands meal was stone cold and my salt and pepper king prawn wasnt fresh,the batter was rock hard and when i pulled a prawn out it was rubbery,my advice is go elsewhere!!!

Best Chinese I’ve had since living in York so delicious and not too badly priced. Will be using all the time now !! :)

salt a pepper box may as well called it a battered bone box was disgusting no meat on any thing just bones with batter on total rip off and was cold

I would not waste my time ordering from here again, when calling to see where my order was I was told it had set off 45mins later it turns up. I ordered 2 soups and a portion of ribs that turned out to be cold bones in batter and my soups had leaked out in the bag, when called I was told to just report to just eat which I did and then you can only give one option.

Absolutely appalling service, we ordered our food at 9 o’clock pm and waited until 11:15 pm and we still don’t have our food and we have called the takeaway many time with no answer this is ridiculous i wish i could give the service 0 stars.

Worst Chinese I've ever had. Chow Mein was very cold and soggy. Salt and Pepper box was gross. Why does everything need to be deep fried? This is not advertised

food wasn't warm when arrived. said it was on its way and it took over 20 minutes for them to come when it only takes 5 minutes. rice was dry, missing curry sauce also.

90 minutes late from original delivery time foods cold rang the resteraunt they said that they are delivering ordered before mine because it’s the furthest away. Tried heating the food up but it’s completely inedible. Stay away & do not order.

I would order from Maks more often unfortunately it's a little expensive when it's just for one. However l just love the Cantonese style sweet and sour chicken, and as usual the food was excellent, hot and on time.

Driver refused to deliver to first floor claiming she wasn't allowed for health and safety reasons. I have used this restaurant many times and never previously had such issues. I will not use them again as she was simply lazy.

Food took an hour and a half to arrive and when it did multiple items were missing. It was a big order but meant that some of our group didn’t get to have what they ordered. The food that did arrive was nice.

Ordered food for delivery, selected the option to pay by cash but then got sent a link via text to pay by card. Paid by card but then when driver came said the order was to pay for. Showed transaction in bank and confirmation of payment through foodhub. Driver phoned the takeaway and woman said no payment had been received. Driver then had to leave. Never had a problem before but definitely will not order from here again. EDIT: foodhub confirmed the payment was made. The woman on the phone called my partner a liar the first time!
