Harvester Clifton Moor in York

It was not a good experience. The food was terrible. Half of the menu was unavailable. What was available was barely edible and unfortunately, cold. You can tell this has been this way a while, as the place was not busy at all for a Saturday evening. We left half our meals. The staff were excellent though, and were very accommodating. Safe to say we'll give this place a miss in the future.

Paid a visit today 13.10.24. Shame to hear the restaurant is closing this week at under 2 weeks notice to the staff. Must praise the manager who very professionally informed of the closure in terms of some items.may be short of on the menu. I.e. chips subbed for sweet potato fries. Lovely meal, chicken to die for. And enjoyable salad. Pleased we actually went today to be able to support in the final week. Not a frequent visitor due to being out of the area, but have made the trip several times to here as it is/was our most local one. Hope all the staff manage to be relocated. Top recommendation to the manager.

We ordered a takeaway from here. Never again. The chicken was so dry it could have been used as kindling for a fire, clearly been cooked hours and hours ago, the garlic bread was better used for boxing up the tripe as it was like cardboard. The bbq sauce was non exaistant as in we didn't get any at all. The nachos and fries were cold, I could understand that if we lived miles away, but it's under a mile. For the price of the combo for 2, I would not pay you in washers for that ever again. My family are now cooking a meal after that, and the gravy is like muddy water as it has zero taste. Very dissapointed with it. Was the first time having a takeaway from here, and it will be the last

Family birthday get together, food very good and excellent service from waitress Hollie and Amy the kitchen manager . Highly recommended.

Went into Harvester at Clifton Moor after shopping in the area. Took a while to take our drinks and food order but girl who served us was pleasant and chatty. Whilst we were waiting for our food, we noticed a man (possibly the manager) cleaning a table near us, this wasn’t done very thoroughly and left napkins, food waste on the floor etc. we thought maybe he would come back and finish off but seated another family at the table! Once our food came (took a bit longer than expected) it was piping hot and decent portion sizes. Nobody came and asked if everything was ok or if we wanted any more drinks etc. we just felt like another number. The girl who had originally taken our order had left before our food was served and we were sat with our empty plates for 10 minutes plus as if we had been forgotten. I went to the bar to get the bill and was met by a lovely young lady called Lucy who was a breath of fresh air.

Service was shocking! We could see our food sitting on the pass for at least 10 mins. Chef kept pressing the bell but waitresses were just walking past and then stood at the bar chatting. It was only when we called the manager over that we got our food. Burgers were ok but Camembert tomato tart wasn’t cooked properly on the bottom, meaning I had to leave the base and the jacket potato was basically a potato microwaved! No crispness to the skin and as dry as anything. No one asked how our food was otherwise I would have said. Harvester has been going down hill for ages now, but we thought maybe a different restaurant to our local one would be better. It was worse!!! We won’t eat in a Harvester again I’m afraid

Great value meal at lunchtime. Two courses £12.99. My only gripe would be no draft drinks and all drinks expensive. Feel they are making their money on drinks to be able to offer menu meal deals. It also took me four attempts to order my drink as each time I chose they didn't have it even though it was on the menu.

Not great, hardly any vegetarian options left, very little salad, no butter and no side plates. The waitress did well under difficult circumstances

Lucas the waiter needs pay rise was polite and went above and beyond along with this the manager was very understanding

Took an hour with barley anyone there, salad bowls was dirty wasn’t washed properly on both of them, the dirty fries was absolutely tiny like a kids meal. Got out pudding order wrong. And took ages for ordering took ages for the bill.

Called in on the way to York races. We use Harvester back where we live so know how it works. Food and service couldn’t be faulted really. It was fairly busy but staff handled it really well. Will definitely return when back in York.

Came in for lunch today, fairly busy, but staff ( especially Lena) was very attentive. Had the halloumi flatbread, chicken flatbread and scampi. Was warm and delicious, will be coming back

Very poor quality meal. Char grilled chicken skewer had been left under the hot plate for too long and was so dry it was inedible, along with the flatbread which had turned to concrete. 1983 combo chicken was supposed to be a half chicken however it was the same size as the quarter chicken and very small at that- again dry and unappealing. Other mains ordered were no better. The salad bar hadn't been topped up either the whole evening and also a lack of bowls meant saucers were given. Didn't stay for dessert! Would never return to a Harvester after that family meal.

As we had eaten here the evening before ,when there was only the manager and waitress on duty,and it was really busy we had an excellent evening,however when we returned the following evening,what a different a day makes. Poor service food not as good as the day before. Leftovers only on the salad bar, the dressing pots were empty. Staff not very friendly, spent more time talking between themselves. It didn’t seem that there was a manager in the restaurant,because staff need supervision. All in all a terrible experience from the great experience we had the day before. Went last week after recommending it to my friend ,not at all impressed this time had to wait 45 mins for food and were not informed about this .My steak which should have been medium was dry with no pink in it what so ever ,tomato black on the top .My friend got bird ,steak and turf steak was supposed to be medium rare was the same as mine very dry not pink but worst of all the chicken was burnt black on the underside and inedible, so dry ,we did tell the staff but all she said was I will inform someone .Needless to say we will not be returning in a hurry shame because last time I visited it was delicious

First time going best mix grill iv had in a long time. The waiter was really friendly and helpful will definitely be going back

Return visit with the family and again we weren’t disappointed! Nice food and fabulous service. As we chatted to the staff my little boy mentioned that we were going to the cinema afterwards and they explained about the Harvester/ Vue cinema offer and we got 20% off the whole bill. Big thanks for this! We’ll be back!

Very family friendly and great value. Still great value and helpful, friendly staff, but the bench seats could do with some attention.

Food was dry and overcooked only starter was nice the main meals terrible and salad bar was dry too and on my main was missing egg and the rotisserie chicken when egg was brought over mins later it didn't look very edible and although another 5 mins b4 chicken came it was hot but still pink round bone sweet potato fries well overcooked black pudding was like a rock and so was mushroom sausages overcooked and dry left the meals

I will say that the steaks and ribs we did have were well cooked and nicely presented but not really what we wanted. We had to wait so long for salad bowls that our main meals were being served before we had finished and the salad bar was very bare. The staff appeared flustered and unsure on food availability or allergies and we had 2 gluteen free in our party who were basically not cattered. Nobody checked on us throughout our meal, we had to find our own cutlery and sauces, plus when we were finished we had to ask for our plates to be cleared and for the dessert menu's, only to be told there was no ice-cream. All in all, not how we had planned to celebrate our daughters graduation and may be our last Harvester for a while.

When online booking we mentioned we hoped there would be 3 spit roast chicken as we missed out last time and when we arrived they had been saved for us! We were breaking a 3 hour journey on the way to the coast and got held up in traffic Jacob was great. Polite, friendly and cheerful The meal was really good

Arrived at The Harvester for the first time at 5 35pm only to be told there's awaiting list for food and it would mean waiting 45 minutes hence we declined and walked out!!

Visited with my grandma, food was incredible and service was fantastic. Went above and beyond to accommodate. The salad bar is awesome! Can definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Harvester Clifton Moor accommodated a school group on short notice. Abby W and Sophie-Rose did a great job of looking after us. Food was all correct and they did a great job of catering for allergies. Thank you!

Good value food drinks are a bit pricey, the place could do with a refurb, seats in cubicles worn and split.

Popped in for a lovely Brunch with my son. Food was lovely and staff looked after us very well. They even rescued my sons sunglasses that he accidentally left behind. Thank you!!

Service is slow took over 25 min to take our order and then 1.5 hours for the food to come out, which consist of over cooked steak ( burnt) asked for rare, frozen uncooked corn on the cob and 8 chips. My daughter had rotisserie chicken which was dry and tastless. We then ordered the brownie. Again took 45 mins to come out and was about the size of a satsuma. The place only had 4 tables taken. Never going bk.

Harvesters food is well cooked, fills you up and isn't hugely expensive. The menu has a decent choice, the sweets are really good and most of the time the service isn't bad, don't expect top notch posh food, this is an honest pub-ish foodery.

Came in on the 31st of June around 4pm to be greeted with food may take upto an hour because some of the chefs had called in sick which was ok things happen we were in no rush. The two waitress's were nice in them selves providing lovely service for the situation presented to them. Once we had ordered it actually arrived in only 20 mins or so so hats off to the kitchen for the quick work but sadly from this point on it was downhill very quickly. The steak I had ordered was to be medium rare not well done it was grey all the way through no juices no pink in the middle, the chips were spot on nice n crispy and golden thumbs up for that, the peas were dry and tasteless and with a texture of dried paper mache it was as if they had been microwaved I ended up not eating them, the pepper corn sauce is what saved the steak to be honest as the sauce was lovely. Onto my partner's meal which was fish and chips and not much better. Again the chips were great she had no complaints there but the fish was dry and over cooked the batter was not golden but more of a dark brown colour and crunchy but hard crunchy, the peas were also as previously described she also refused to eat them. Once we had finished up our mains we headed for pudding which was disastrous at best. I ordered the fox's biscuit sundae and my partner ordered the rocky something sundae neither of which we're correct. Im under the impression the fox's sundae is supposed to have Oreo bits on top which it did not nor did it have sauce round the inside of the glass it was just a lump of icecream with cream and chocolate sauce on top with half a biscuit ontop all while being served in a hot glass so everything was near enough melted by the time it got to me. I was extremely disappointed. My partners pudding was even worse she ordered the rocky horror sundae she did not get the brownie at the bottom she got straight ice-cream again no sauce on the inside and just cream and sauce ontop even missing the cherry which excuse the pun was the cherry on top to this abysmal dinner. Now onto the chef, I understand the general manager was in the kitchen which would tell me the other chefs would be on top form but oh no all tlof them were constantly touching there faces, picking there noses, playing with there hair messing around with there phones the level of hygiene in that kitchen was appalling to say the least I only saw this after we'd eaten our desserts so it made me feel a bit sick to see the people that had just made our food doing this kind of behaviour both me and my partner were disgusted. We promptly got the bill and reported this to the waitress to all we got back was oh I'll let the chefs know about the steak. We left and will definitely never be coming back after this horrendous outing. Now I understand that the restaurant was understaffed for the day but that doesn't mean you can provide a substandard and disgraceful service even with such few staff there is still a basic level of presentation that needs to be met which was certainly not met. I hope the general manager reads this and has a good think about what service him and his restaurant are trying to provide customers.

Great staff. I wasn't a customer but asked for help. They didn't have to help me but they did. Amazing people, their kindness and compassion is greatly appreciated.

I went out for a lovely meal with my family today and our waitress Abi had amazing customer service and was very helpful in regards to customer care, she let me know my plate was hot and to be careful, this is a positive because at other restaurants in the area waiting staff did not have the same customers care or positive attitude in which Abi displayed while being our server. Harvester has been one of my personal favourites when it comes to dining outings with my family and this great and positive experience has left me wanting to visit again. And I shall be visiting again. Not only was the service fantastic the food was beautiful and very flavourful too, I had the cheese and Spinach filled shells pasta with a rich tomato sauce, this was delicious and as pasta is one of my favourite meal this dish definitely met my standard for a great meal, the salad and drink were great too, the only improvement I would suggest is to make sure the bread rolls by the salad bar are soft and fresh as during my visit my bread roll was slightly hard and dry, but everything else including, cleanliness, service, atmosphere and cuisine was fabulous. Thank you for being as accommodating for us as you were today and I hope to receive the same service and experience during my next visit.

Brilliant meal service was good.

After being turned away by every restaurant with needing a table of 9 we tried our luck here and guy went out of his way to accommodate us, we were served by two lovely female Jacquline and Sophie rose and full massive thank yous for Caitlin, Amy Kieran and Tom for making us all lovely food and giving us the best service we would highly reccomend and will definitely be coming back nothing was too much to ask so thankyou again

Was met by jackalyn and she was wonderful and very chatty to us nice to see. Was informed chicken was off menu but we're very accommodating in adjusting our order I spoke to the chef Amy and she was so nice and nothing was too much trouble highly reccomend this place staff wonderful and be back soon. Food came out hot and fresh and was very very tasty yum yum thanks girls.

My wife & I visited for breakfast on Sunday 9th June and had a great experience from the moment we arrived, we were greeted and offered a choice of tables and our order was taken quickly, our server was Lucas and he was very friendly and efficient and he could not do enough to make sure we were happy throughout our stay, the food was excellent with big portions and all cooked really well and lovely and hot, the whole team were friendly and when the bill came it was really good value for money, I would highly recommend a visit.

Food was okay. But the service was great 😊 Jackalyn was lovely, and made friends with our toddler in seconds. She and the other staff made the visit great and was very thorough with allergies for our toddler who is currently on the milk ladder for CMPA.

Food dreadful, service even worse.

Every time we needed service, we had to seek it out. Salad bar was almost empty, had to request it be filled. Twice had to ask for someone to take dessert order. Food was poor quality, not all hot, some really cold. Cranberry juice was a weird colour and weird taste. When it came to paying the bill, it took several staff, one of which said she was so stressed, to try and work out the voucher we handed over. All in all 2 hrs lost, rubbish food and wasted money. Don't recommend

I went tonight with daughter before cinema not much at salad bar I ordered long tail shrimp but got what looked liked frozen scampi my daughter thinks was chicken very rubbery flat thing arrived with jacket potatoes which also looked like frozen one I tried to tell server but wasn’t interested never again

Regular visitor to Harvesters - must be middle age - and decided to pop in when on holiday as couldn’t be bothered to cook. Food was standard Harvester quality - expensive for what it is - and the salad bar was a bit wanton. Staff were friendly and attentive though.

According to my husband, Harvester is very good, but as a person with allergies, I have nothing to look for here. A very small menu for gluten-free people, and I don't know if there is any contamination. But the service deserves a lot of applause, as it takes seriously whether someone has allergies and ensures that customers are informed. Overall, I highly recommend it as a place for a family dinner. The drinks are also tasty.

Went today not a soul in but us , salad bar was shocking discoloured and rancid service appalling walked out after waiting more than half an hour after placing order...never again!!!

Ok pub grub. Lovely waitress. Prices fair.

We called in late afternoon on Bank Holiday Monday.Jacqueline was a lovely waitress,explained the varied menu and I can only say well done to all at this fine establishment

We visited this evening, booked a table for 5pm when we arrived there was no booking for us even though we had confirmation, luckily there was a table free, it took just over an hour for our food to come, there was 5 of us in total, 3 out of 5 meals were wrong, my 7 year old ordered a chicken burger but he was given a beef burger so sent it back then out came a chicken burger, he had a bite then said it was spicy, so I tried it and wow it really was, so again that was sent back, they ran out of chicken so he was given goujons instead, in total it cost us £78 it definitely was not worth that because of the wait and wrong meals, we left just after 7pm. Previously we have been and it has been lovely I don’t think we will be going back again

Had lunch with a few friends, nice table and a warm restaurant, friendly staff who looked after us very well, nice fresh salad area, my main meal of gammon was very nice, followed by delicious ice cream all for £13pp excellent overall

We were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant and taken to our seats by an extremely helpful staff member. The food was good but the service was excellent, Jackalyn went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed the meal. All staff members including the manager were really helpful and would definitely go back.

We were the first customers of the day but we're greeted with enthusiasm and a big smile. Our server Nate was very friendly and attentive without being overly so. The food was lovely, well cooked by Amy and well presented. Delicious

We had a great meal with excellent service. Our son is autistic and accidentally knocked his drink into his meal, the staff were very accommodating replacing the meal at no extra cost. Took the courtesy to sit us in a booth as we had hoped for and were generally exceptional at ensuring we had a great meal. Special thanks to Jackalyn our server and Amy the chef.

We came here Saturday and had fantastic service from Beth who couldn't be more helpful! Food was served quickly and was so tasty and fresh! Salad bar was clean and fresh and tasty also. Happy to visit again .

Friendly staff, quick to order and receive food. The food was hot and tasty, with a good variety of dishes and reasonably priced, especially with the 25% off discount! Free salad bar is always a bonus too! Definitely recommend.

Personally I think they needed more staff on shift, as it was busy when we visited. The new management Guy was helpful. Unlimited salad bar was worth the wait on food and service.

We booked a table online and received a phone call at 7.50 when we were on our way to say the restaurant closed at 8 and we shouldn’t have been able to book. They told us they would stay open but we would have to order quickly which we did. There was hardly any salad bar left and our mains were bought out while we were still eating our starters. I visited harvester on Sunday and the whole experience was fantastic. With a very busy restraint the team were nothing but helpful and polite.

When we arrived we were told there were no tables available. We were disappointed but it wasnt anyones fault. We decided to go over to the nearby pub for food. Whilst in there we went on the harvester website and it allowed us to book a table for 45 minutes time. I popped back over to check this was correct and the lovely gentleman who greeted me at the door couldn't apologise enough that there had been some cancellations and could now fit us in. Its wasn't a problem but he was so kind. I told him we had bought drinks at the pub so would drink them and be back and he told me because of the mess about he would knock 20% off my bill to cover the drinks I paid for elsewhere. We returned and he was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The salad bar was quite empty probably because they had been so busy and when we asked if they had more salad he instantly got the whole bar refilled. What an asset to the restaurant. All the staff were extremely good but the gentleman in question who's name I didn't get shone out. I wanted to say thank you when we left but he wasn't there. I hope this gets back to him and he knows how much appreciated his kindness was. Thank you.

Went to Harvester after seeing dune 2 at vue cinema and was blown away by the service, was greated by Guy who looked after us throughout our visit, nothing was to much. Our server was Ellen and she was so acomadating to our needs. To top it off the food was piping hot and extra tasty, we all loved the salad bar aswell. Check this place out !

Arrived for our booking and was greeted by staff who were very friendly and cheerful, the restaurant itself was very clean and well kept too, after ordering our food we was informed of a mishap in the kitchen and the gentleman expressed his apologies for the delay on our order which was a nice touch as usually you get left waiting for your food, when the food arrived the presentation was fantastic, generous portion sizes and the steaks were cooked to temperature to perfection well done but still moist and tender in the middle which many places struggle to achieve, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and even a special request over our autistic sons dessert was accommodated for without any fuss, the front of house staff and chefs here are a credit to harvester and I will definitely be visiting again for a family meal.

I went for a meal and was served by Abi Devine. She was very welcoming and was really lovely during my time at Harvester. Anytime I had a question she was there to answer and was helpful. She made sure everything was okay with my meal and kept checking up on us. It made my trip to Harvester much better and enjoyable.

Lovely place, food hot and cooked to perfection, nothing is too much trouble. You also get blue light % off via the app - only on a Monday-Friday, though! Good selection on the menu. Free parking. Walk ins accepted, though, on holidays i advise to book. Child friendly too 🍽😋

Came here for food the other day and we all absolutely loved it. Food was a tad unwhelming however the service made up for it. James was attentive and very friendly, nothing seemed like too much trouble. Will definitely be returning and asking to be served by him again.
