We had a re-union and met for lunch. The food was excellent, I recommend the fish and chips. The service was very good. We stayed for 4 and half hours. Very enjoyable.

I went there with a friend and we were served by a girl named Justė. She was very helpful and served us very quickly. I would recommend this pub to my friends

I often visit the Magpie for a business lunch. Great atmosphere and great pub food. Excellent staff served with a positive attitude. Particularly shouting out today for Cheriece who made the whole experience fun.

I love the Magpie, it’s become my go to spot for a really nice pint. It’s tucked away in the busy lanes of Liverpool Street and it’s just got this old world charm that you don’t usually find elsewhere. However, what makes it such a lively place is the team, especially our favourite bartender Felix. He whips up a killer espresso martini, and he’s on top of his game all the time. His food recommendations are solid too, trust him.

It’s my favourite bar in London. The ambience is great and i go every 2 weeks religiously. Félix is always my bartender, he is so sweet and is one of the best bartenders I’ve ever met. He makes the best drinks and makes me feel so at ease. Look forward to making more memories there.

Meh. Ok pints but crap service and disgusting loos Edit service is ok but despite the refurb loos are still dirty. God knows what the kitchens / cellars are like if they foh looks that bad.

Defect pint in an atmospheric monsoon pub just off Bishopsgate and opposite Liverpool St so very handy.

£7.70 for a Guinness, £8 for a Paulaner. Someone needs locking up. Music was dreary middle of the road nonsense and had the air con on full blast blowing ice cold air into the face of everyone at our table. One drink and left. Edit - I notice the reply on here said mentioning the music was an 'attack'. Bit strong for reviewing the atmosphere which I thought was the point of the reviews on here, or do you only want the positive ones? Saying you're one of the cheapest in Bishopsgate, I'd like to see the more expensive ones. Take the Pride of Spitalfields literally 5 minutes walk away, an infinitely better pub with Guinness for £4.70 as an example. And i did comment on the price to the bar staff who agreed that you're very expensive, so that was fed back.

The food and drink were good the service was excellent but yet again we fell victim to the Nicholson rip off of asking for a tip when you already charged service. So they are even charging a percentage tip on the service charge. I've complained about this at one of their other pubs and they blamed the computer system. This is disingenuous. They could change it. They could ask your waiting staff to warn people or fill in zero. But they take advantage of the fact that after a few beers people won't notice, as we didn't this time. It left a nasty taste in our mouths.

What a pub!!! 10/10 for service - the staff are so friendly and you can have a genuine laugh with them. And the atmosphere is perfect, lively enough to keep the night upbeat but not too crowded where you’re being pushed at the bar. Didnt get to try to their food but the lad behind the bar seemed confident their menu was to die for so we must return soon…

Another standard central London chain pub. More than adequate but the fish and chips didn't deserve star billing...

I pop into the Magpie every so often as I love their fish goujons. It was lunchtime and fairly busy. Found a dirty table which I cleared and asked staff for something to clean the table with, which they gave me with no offer of cleaning it. The goujons were lovely but the chips were soggy and bland. I was preparing to leave when a very friendly manager called Shereece (sp) asked how my food was. I explained, and she was very apologetic and took the chips off my bill as she clearly saw them left. I really appreciated this as I was just going to leave and write a 2 star review but the way she dealt with the issue makes this a 4 star. Keep your good staff.

I think they are a bit racist. I saw a few comments saying a similar thing so I’m writing this out of disappointment of being racially profiled. They asked for my physical ID (which I didn’t bring bcs I’d just recently experienced a pickpocket) and refused to give me a drink. This part is fine because it was my mistake of not to bring a physical ID. However, the lady only asked for me and another non-white friend while we’re out with a bunch of colleagues who are white and some even younger than us (I’m 31 y.o and my other non-white friend is 27). Apparently we look “too young” to buy a drink. He showed his physical ID and paid for the rest of my friend's drinks. I initiated paying for my own drink because as a married woman, I don’t feel comfortable when a man pays for my drink despite it being merely a half pint of pale ale, then she asked me for my ID. Once again, I don’t mind not being served since I didn’t have the physical ID with me, I understand the risk and since I don’t usually drink if it’s not for social event with my colleagues. But please treat everyone the same despite their race. What triggers me to do this review is because they replied to another comment to appreciate being judged looking younger than our age but just admit that the lady server is racially profiling the non white. P.S: One of my colleague tried being nice and offered me to buy me a drink and despite telling them I’m ok even with no drink, they attempted it anyway because they know my actual age is way past the legal requirement (they were rejected by the lady obviously, but I don’t really care because I just came for a lovely early-evening social with colleagues 😅)

A beautiful pub missing the love. Classical City of London alleyway location with great outdoor street drinking. A large corner pub with Nicholson's seal of quality (they know how to make a great pub). There's a large drinking hall around a square core bar. The draught beer is an okay selection, the decoration is excellent and newly refurbished but with heritage and style to compliment this vintage boozer. Rich, patterned ceiling paper, panelled walls, naked chandeliers and modern droplet lamps set the scene over excellent perimeter perches with high stools. There's a classic cut glass brewery brand mirror, historic local photographs, dark, professional quality, cool air and cool beats. A good crowd of local regulars. All the right styles just needs service to match to make this gem shine.

The Magpie is a lovely pub, not exactly quiet but away from the hustle of the Main Street. We were in the upstairs bar for the Euros, it was quite packed but the one server (Aga) managed it all, serving drinks, running food, collecting glasses, etc. It was a great evening.

And here we go again, this time we visited The Magpie in Sunbury ! Perfectly located with the view on the river it feels like we went on holiday. The pub is so cosy and staff are so friendly. Food freshly cooked and very fast service . They have a function room you can privately book for any ocasion and you can fit there up to 100 people. And its DOG FRIENDLY ! WOW Thank you so much again Ludvik and team we will be back soon !

Nice looking place with decent drink choices but spoiled by staff attitude. Not much space downstairs so went to the room upstairs which was empty but told we couldn’t use it as it was closed 🤷🏻‍♂️. Saw people eating and tried to order food but was told the kitchen is closed 🤷🏻‍♂️. Asked for a dog bowl and waitress said she was serving someone else, then said she didn’t know where they were 🤷🏻‍♂️. Bit of a shame.

Burger and chips. What could go wrong? Oh the chips were cold! Replaced very quickly with fresh ones tho so all good. Nice burger 🍔

Lovely place. Glad we booked table though. Very busy. Food was tasty and hot. They had run out of fish and chips, chicken and mushroom pie. Had chicken burger with fries.

Good old fashioned London pub with a great selection of real ale and friendly service. I ate here for the first time recently. The menu was traditional pub grub - they certainly don’t take any risks - but it was nicely cooked and i really enjoyed it. There is a limited but pretty decent wine list which isnt bad value. The city can be very expensive but i thought this was good value overall. The service was very friendly, and super helpful. We were looked after by Hauno who recommended a very agreeable red. So agreeable in fact that we had a second.

Felix was an absolute star! Always addressed me and my friends with the utmost respect and always with a smile!

5 stars for the pub! The atmosphere was so lively. But let's talk about Felix – he was like a ninja behind the bar. He deserves a cape for his service. Can we get him a trophy shaped like a giant beer mug? Cheers to him and the entire pub crew for a memorable evening out!

This pub now holds a special place in my heart, popped in for drinks one Friday night and just happened to meet my now fiancé. We can't promise you'll meet the person of your dreams here, but that's how it worked for us!! ☺️

Very nice pub with good food and friendly staff. It's very close to Liverpool Street Station. It's quite a large pub with a downstairs bar and gents. Upstairs is a smaller bar and the ladies. Between us, we had the sausage and mash, steak and ale pie and mash and a chicken and avocado sandwich with salad. All of the food was delicious.

Just stopped here for a drink before we got on our train. Very good for Liverpool Street. Excellent staff, very nice atmosphere.
