Magic Spices in Wirral

Great Restaurant and has been for many years. Lots of space and the tables are really designed well. Food was excellent as was the service and The Boss always comes over and has a chat.

We called into Magic Spices, Wallasey, as a party of three having booked a table earlier in the week. This is advisable as this is a popular restaurant. For starters we chose a small portion of Tandoori King Prawn and Tandoori Chicken together with poppadoms and a chutney tray. For mains we choose Lamb Dansak, Chicken Tikka Madras and Lamb Jhul Shashlik all with pilau rice. All the food was excellent: crispy poppadoms, delicious chutneys, light fluffy rice, tasty sauces, nicely cooked peppers and onions and plenty of meat. Together with a couple of round of drinks the bill came to £85 - so good value for money considering the quality of the food. The staff were friendly and attentive and the surroundings are contemporary. Well with a visit.

Had a takeaway from Magic Spices. This was a return to the restaurant following a long gap, as my usual choice for Indian food was closed. Delivery was prompt, pleasant and extremely courteous. I was very impressed. Unfortunately, I have to say the food didn’t match the quality of the service. Poppadoms didn’t have the required crispness and were a tad soggy toward the centre (though the variety of the chutney tray was very good). My main course, a dupiaza, was bland and there was a distinct shortage of peppers. I did have a side order of Bombay Aloo, but that dish suffered from the same issue as the others. They were all far too salty. Salt is not really the taste you expect from Indian food, but my dishes were ruined by the amount of salt used in each, and it was salt that was the taste left on my palate. A shame as the owners seem to try so hard to create a good impression. I hope they take this review as being constructive criticism, as I’d love to be proved wrong in the future.

Fantastic food and fantastic service. The restaurant is lovely inside and spotlessly clean. We've been here several times and have never been disappointed. Well worth a visit. If you like it hot, but not screamigly hot, try the chicken roshun moris doniya. It's superb.

This is a long-established restaurant on Seabank Road with a loyal following. It's quite spacious and the booth tables have a lot of room and are comfortable. Fairly standard offer of Bangladeshi/Indian food which is good value and in our party, we all thought it was well above average on taste and portion sizes. Very friendly and attentive staff. Not sure about the large TV screen, but you don't have to sit under it. Would definitely visit again and consider it a great place for a family meal.

We last visited Magic Spices in August 2007, just before our eldest daughter was born. Don't know why on earth we hadn't been back in almost 17 years ! But we've been 3 times in the last 4 weeks ! Amazing service - relaxed , friendly atmosphere & as for the food.... WOW. Absolutely outstanding food - tasty, hot, fresh & delicious. Sadly went for the 2 for 1 .when questioned about why our bill was so high as it was 2 for 1 we were told that deal you have to book 24 hours in advance and have to order 3 starters . Maybe the waiter should have been more professional and asked us if we were there for the 2 for 1 when we first sat down It seemed such an effort for the waiter to even explain things apparently it's it the T&C's how to get the deal it's wrote outside on the banner The attitude of the waiter wasn't very nice at all .so definitely won't be going back

I would legitimately travel to go here! The service is excellent, genuinely likeable friendly professional chaps running it. Exceptionally clean and cosy environment. It’s often spilling over so call ahead! The food quality is tremendous.

Be careful as the advert on the website said get 10% off if you pay by cash. I checked on the phone when I ordered and when I got there the waiter said you have to order online and pay by cash to get discount. The waiter was quite rude to me although I asked about the discount on the phone and was told orders paid by cash meant you got 10% off. Very disappointing.

We are regulars at Magic Spices. Each visit is great. Very friendly staff, delicious food and lovely environment. Brilliant.

We started off with poppadums and the chutney tray.. all the chutneys were very sweet.. even the mint yoghurt one (which generally should not be sweet). The chutneys mostly had a very weird vinegar kind of taste. We also ordered a chicken kadai and a lamb Roshun Moris Doniya. Both were very bland.. no salt.. no flavour.. just boring and nothing great at all. They both tasted very similar so it is one of the worst meals. They were not authentic at all.. very oily and just tasted of nothing! We definitely will NOT be back again. Wasted our money and time.

Third time I have been and I think it’s my favourite indian restaurant. Visited with my daughter and her fiancé and they loved it too. Food lovely and service is so good. Friendly, welcoming place.

Ordered a takeaway, as we were looking to replace our usual which has now shut down. Overall we were disappointed, although there were some good points: Onion bhajis, as mentioned in previous reviews) were flat, floury and soggy, so we popped them in the air-fryer. Salmon tikka was very good. Tandoori king prawn (starter) was terrible - mainly onion with small prawns, which were overcooked. Nawabi raan (house speciality) was an expensive waste of time. The sauce was bland and mild (although we had asked for it to be hot) and there was not very much lamb. Two vegetable dishes (okra and cauliflower) were pleasant, although the sauce base seemed to be the same as the lamb. We mixed all the leftovers together! Naan was fine, although not over-large, and the generously portioned rice was excellent. The daal was absolutely delicious, initially, but when we found a piece of plastic tape in it (approx 4 cm long) we were somewhat put off. I duly called Magic Spices - they apologised and offered me a free daal next time I order, which I am unlikely to do.

This visit was a huge mistake will never go again to this restaurant. We went as a party of 4 to celebrate my mothers Birthday,we had been many times before and even spent Xmas Day there as a family quite a few times.What has gone wrong ?? The food was bland meat overcooked onion barges so small and tasteless. There was a large group of rather noisy customers whose language was very colourful and loud the waiters did not ask them to keep it down,maybe because it was such a large bill at the end of the night but every customers business should be enjoyable not just the ones with large bills. Such a shame as many happy times spent here but sadly not anymore.

Amazing indian restaurant.....this has been our local curry house for many years and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal from here. Went tonight and really pleased to see that the 'magic guy' is back! Came away with a balloon teddy in a heart!

The food is excellent with a great choice of traditional favourites and restaurant specialities. The service is efficient and friendly. This is my now my favourite Indian restaurant on the Wirral.

This is a regular eatery for our family, my sister and her grown up children go regularly and we have been 3 or 4 times now. The food is excellent and the service is very good. We will be back.

I’ve lived in Wallasey for over 20 years but only recently moved into the New Brighton area. Tried Magic Spices as I’d heard good things about it. Boy was I disappointed. Each course was a let down. The Onion Bhaji starters were flat, floury and bland. None of the crisp, flaky onions of a good bhaji, just a doughy imitation. The main course, Chicken Bhuna, was worse. The sauce was tepid and lacking in depth of flavour and the chicken was massively over cooked and dry to the point of inedibility. There is a plethora of Indian options in the area, so Magic Spices need to seriously up their game as they are by far the worst I have experienced. I’ll be going elsewhere from now on certainly.

Ordered takeaway, ordered two rices with our meal. Was on speakerphone my partner heard me order two. Rang up and politely told them THEIR mistake. Was told I would have to pay for second rice to be sent out! £2.75! I should have been apologised to and given the rice for free. Went back and forth with them and became heated and they put phone down. I shouldn't have to pay for their mistake. Disgusting. I gave tip to delivery guy who is manager and took the call. He knows his mistake. We are regular customers and will not be returning. Bad customer service, bad attitude

We were going to a show in New Brighton and thought we’d give the midweek special. The service was amazing and the starters arrived fairly soon after ordering and they were gorgeous. The mains were all very tasty and there were no delays. The decor in the restaurant was really nice probably the nicest I have been in for a long time.

Title says it all really, the food is second to none. The staff are like silver service standards, can’t compliment this place enough. We had a bottle of Merlot with our dinner and the whole experience was exceptional from drinks to service to food. Amazing, thanks guys!!

Visited late one Jan 23 night, slightly busy, but order taken, and food served, very quickly with waiter, 'Naz' very attentive and friendly. Very good mixed kebab starter, but a wondefrul Bengal chicken main, ie with egg and potato which I always find soaks the spices up really well. And peshwari naan. Highly recommend.

Prebooked an order for collection on Xmas eve. They were meant to call when ready. Heard nothing so went down about 30 mins after it was due. When we turned up they’d forgotten about it. OK mistakes happen but I thought the response fell well short of what was acceptable. Couldn’t be bothered to expedite our order (bs answer that it wouldn’t be fair to make everyone else wait half hour) and told us the best they could do was deliver- at least a further hour and a half wait. The comp drinks offer didn’t really make up for a spoilt family meal.

As a returning customer for over 20 years I can't do anything but praise this place... Beautiful venue, really really friendly and attentive front of house team and the food is absolutely delicious. The pricing is very favourable too. I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else...

We had been bowling in New Brighton and where head towards Vino Vino as we passed magic spice the aromor coming from the restaurant made us do a quick u-turn as we decided to have Indian instead....... The food was good poppadoms where good the dip tray was very tasty..... We then had mixed tandoori for 2 which came on a sizzle plate piled with spicy onions we also had onoin bhaji which was good but Ive probably had better.............. Mains where king prawn jingle jangle which was pretty good..... Chicken tikka masala was standard and the jalfraze was also tasty....... House wine and corba go down well also no dessert cos we were to stuffed

Really fancied a take away Vindaloo curry and thought I would give Magic Spices a chance. What a great meal. It was excellent. I've been back since and it was just as good. Eat in or take away, Magic Spices hits the spot for me. Well done.

Went o this restuarant for a 60th Birthday meal with family and friends. The guys could not have been more helpful in their service, plus the food was really good.Has been a while since I had been here, but the hospitality was second to none :)

Very good Indian food. On both occasions I've been recently I've left absolutely stuffed and been pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices have been. I always ask for a recommendation from the waiter or for something the chef would like to cook, again, on both occasions I've really enjoyed my food and had a different fish each time. Thus has seffinately made it as my local Indian now!

We had not been for a while and it was the obvious choice when we were out and hungry as it is wheelchair friendly and used to be excellent food. Started with poppadoms and a chutney tray. Well, I say chutney tray but was more like 4 indistinguishable sugar sauces and a bowl of chopped cucumbers with a few onions thrown in for good measure. We had to ask the waiter what the sauces were. Never a good sign. For a starter we had a magic spices sharer consisting of onion bhajis, samosas, chicken pakoras and onion rings with salad. The salad was lovely..... the bhajis were flat and greasy and cut in half to give the impression of extra portions. The chicken pakoras were brick solid chicken nugget style lumps. The samosas had watery bland mince inside, none of the expected vegetables or potato mixed in with it and certainly no magic spices. The onion wasnt too bad in comparison, made up of chopped onion and batter in an onion ring shape, almost like an onion ring donut. The main courses were a mixed tandoori grill, very bland. Enough said. And a Butter Murgh Masala which was described by the waiter as a hot sweet sauce. It was like a slighty spicy passanda sauce which was delicious but not hot. I had it with chicken and the chicken was just awful. It had the texture of raw chicken. I had to remove it from my mouth several times to check it wasnt raw before coming to the conclusion it was just full of veins and gristle and was just horrid. I abandoned the chicken in the end and just dunked my naan in the sauce.Sadly I then risked dessert as I was still hungry. I chose orange sorbet. It came in a frozen hollowed out orange that looked 10 years old and tasted it too. Bitter wasnt in it. I think it was all pith and no flesh and certainly no zest. I could only identify it as orange by the orange it came in. What has happened to this restaurant.? It used to be so good.......

Popped in for a meal, warm welcome. Staff friendly and pleasant, meals were lovely we had starters and Mains also had a bottle of house white wine! Good value for money ! All meals hot! Restaurant had relaxing atmosphere! Will be visiting again thank you

Sent my nephew there to get copy of dine in menu. I realise you cannot give away your dine in menus but I expected him to be able to take pictures. He wasn't allowed, and there was none on display outside. We were going to book a birthday meal mid week for approx 20 people but didn't bother as we had no idea of prices etc. Really disappointed. We took our custom elsewhere.

First came here for Christmas Day dinner. We not in to roasts so this was perfect for us , The menu for Christmas Day was good and we couldn’t fault the food. Lamb tikka is out of this world and I love the chicken tikka masala. Staff friendly and place beautiful. Been back few times since and again, good food and service. Love it. Rey friendly staff

Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday whilst we were staying in New Brighton. Have eaten in this restaurant before and, as always, the food was delicious. Modern restaurant but with nice atsmosphere and friendly staff. Will visit again when we are next in New Brighton.

We used to come here frequently when we were local but haven’t been back since we moved aw. We returned as part of a birthday party at the weekend and were delighted to see that it was still as good as ever. Both the food and the service were excellent.

Loved the decor and the ambience. Waiters very attentive and helpful. There were quite a few different dishes on the menu from the normal expected choices.

Went for an early valentines meal . We had a fish curry maz basa Bhuna and prawn dish .jingly goa which we shared with peshwari naan and pilau rice . We had a soft drink as we were driving . The food was tasty and generous helpings of fish . Delicate flavours in the fish curry and heat in the prawn dish . Service was excellent . Interior was modern and inviting . I have been here a few times for a meal and never been disappointed . Good value for money also .

Having been here many times for eating in we decided to try out the take away and have our Valentine’s dinner at hone.

Having intended on coming here for a number of years, we finally got here, and I wish we had come here so much earlier. Magic starter (shared platter with onion rings, pakora, chicken balls,etc) was delicious and got the saliva flowing ready for the main course. The wife had a "safe" dupiaza whilst I tried one of the chef specials, both with rice and a garlic naan.

We booked this for an early dinner on New Years Eve as we wanted something simple before we escaped home for a quiet night. We were asked to pre order which we did. Although we had a bit of a wait for the main course everything was really very nice. We had enjoyed a take away before but never been to the restaurant. The food was very good and we would recommend.

We had a delivery Friday and it was nice so decided to have same again Sunday only both curry’s were exactly the same in colour and completely different from those we had Friday

Not impressed with Magic Spices. The Tandoori starter was avaerage at best. The Chiken Vindaloo, mine, was bland and not enough tomato base flavour. The King Prawn Madras (the wife's) was the same taste as the Vindaloo, bland and the KP was cut into small pieces. King Prawn should be served whole. The chiken curry was exactly the same taste as the other two curries (without the spice of course) Two of the five chutneys tasted old. The only good thing was the Naan, which in fairness was very very good. The pilau rice was mushy too. 5/10.

Geat Indian food at a reasonable price. Lamb chops were fantastic, wife had the mixed starter and really enjoyed it.

Came for a family meal and every dish was perfect , food absolutely delish! Service was amazing quick and friendly I was so please with how the staff were with my little ones nothing was too much and even more so with my mother who normally is impossible to please and she could not fault her food... 5 stars well deserved !

really high quality food delivered by friendly staff in an uncrushed fashion . This food did not come with an expensive pricetage , so great food at a reasonable price , what is not to like (free parking outside , just over 10mins walk from New Brighton station) .

I'm away from home a lot and always use tripadvisor to find me a decent "Indian" restaurant. I suppose I shouldn't have expected too much baring in mind the lack of competition and the varied reviews of Magic Spice and I wasn't disappointed. The food was OK nothing to write home about and why o why cannot the manager greet you with a smile and a bit of interest - there was only one other table occupied at 8 pm on a Wednesday evening. If nothing else its the difference between a tip or no tip. So no tip!

The food is watery, and there's not enough meat in the dishes to feed a newborn kitten.

Ordered a meal online at 8.10pm, 45 minutes delivery, contacted them at 9.05pm to find out what time my delivery would be received, they had no record of my order. Three conversations later and they are trying to arrange my refund. Wondered if I had not submitted my order correctly... I have forwarded my confirmation email and my paypal receipt, in the meantime I am now sitting here starving and it is too late to contemplate ordering food, toast and bed for me

Visited this place few weeks ago because the decor was nice. And I’m sad to say the food was below average. Nothing had taste. We got tandoori starters, couple of main dishes rice and chapati. It was just tasteless didn’t seem fresh and full of onions. The only nice thing was the fresh lemon!

Centrally located and within easy walking distance. The reward was a tasty, good sized and well priced feed for four. Recommended

The buffet has some of the best Indian food I have had in the area. Proper spices are used. No jalepenos or weird non Indian ingredients in sight.

Have had lovely meals in the past at Magic Spices but on this occasion we were a bit disappointed. The food was decidedly average and we were served by a dour faced young waiter who looked as though he would rather not be there! Not the best experience.

I live local to this place and have ordered many times. I usually collect the order as a takeaway and eat the meals at home. The food is always of a high standard and they will increase the heat level if requested. One of the best Indian restaurants in Wallasey.

Service with a smile. Very welcoming, no pressure to order after providing drinks whilst being spoilt for choice on an extensive & detailed menu. It was a few years since we last visited and the professionalism had improved considerably, this was above your "local Indian".

I’ve eaten in and had take-aways from here numerous times. The food is always delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful. They even accommodated 14 of us at short notice without fuss. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Visited with a group of work colleagues and having never been before i was impressed from the moment I walked in. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and is very welcoming and inviting. It seemed quite quiet when we visited for a friday evening. I visited a popular Indian restaurant in Heswall last year and the noise in the restaurant was so bad i felt i was shouting all evening for my husband to hear so this calmer environment was very much appreciated!

Always get our take away from here and I'm glad to say that the standard and quality of the buffet was just as good.

Foods always pretty good with quality ingredients and a good selection of dishes. Saying that, last time we ordered a take out they said that they had given us extra poppadoms. Turned out that they had given us 1 poppadom (which wasn't even a whole one). Our order was 3 mains with rice totalling nearly 30 quid! Unfortunately this happens regularly and when you visit 3/4 times a month seems incredibly stingey. Look after your customers!

Magic Spices has been part of the local dining experience for years. I have eaten there many times and spent Christmas day there with my family twice. The food is very, very good and the service second to none. Lovely people.

We regularly use magic spices, more so to takeaway recently, food is always to a high standard and reasonably priced.Lots of choice on the menu, good size portions and really tasty food. My only feedback would be they label their menu better; the staff have a good knowledge about their ingredients and how their dishes are made which is great for us as we order gluten free for two family members but without asking you wouldn't know they cater for coeliacs. If they could put this info on the menu it would be a six circle rating!
