Awful fish hardly any fish and that batter was so hard ! It wasn’t a fillet of fish by a long chalk , the batter was so hard couldn’t bite it ! Shocking

Had a lovely tea. Nice chips and fish. Been 3 more times and last night, wasn’t open yet again. I went at 18.00 , said it was open till 20.30.

Amazing food. Best about by a mile. Had the curry fish chips and sausage lol. Cooked and served perfect

We went there as the chippy in green field was closed. Never agin!!!! Don’t have what you ask for only the things that are out which was hardly anything. Would never come agin. Disappointed

We live in Holywell and we used this chippy when we first moved here in 2010...Over the years it went a bit shabby so we haven't been here for around years.. We tried it this evening and to be perfectly honest the food was awful and tasteless... Will not try it again, very dissapointed and a total waste of money... The birds will be having it in the morning !!!!!

Lived in Holywell all my life, Maggie's kitchen used to serve lovely food. Last three times we have had chips they have been very gritty, horrid to eat, like chewing a bag of sand.. Yuk. Lots of green chips and chips with still some skin on. What is the grit? Don't they wash the potatoes? 0 out of 10. Please get your act together and sort out the gritty Chips.

Ordered chips and cheese pie and it was brilliant would definitely return and recommend to anyone. I visited from Prestatyn

I had a small chicken curry with rice and a battered haddock (ordered both so if I didn’t like one, I could at least have the other so I didn’t go hungry). With the fish, I’ve never had food in my life that has absolutely no taste whatsoever. It was also quite greasy but I didn’t mind this too much. I was more disappointed that it had 0% taste. The chicken curry with rice was equally disappointing. It had about two pieces of chicken in it. The curry had far too much vegetables in it as well, for example mushrooms. It had more vegetables than chicken and it’s a chicken curry! The sauce was decent however. I went to Maggie’s back in 2018 or 2019. I ordered chips and they weren’t nice because they lacked taste. I thought I’d give Maggies another chance years later as maybe things have changed, they haven’t! Very disappointing. WASTE OF MONEY! Used to be a great chip shop. Please note that it says online that they are open on Mondays but they are not. I went on a Monday only to find out that they do not open on a Monday anymore. I’d suggest changing your opening times online so that customers do not have a wasted journey. Not a 1 star because at least the service was fast and the staff working on that day were friendly. Hope things improve in what used to be a fantastic chippy.

Visited here for lunch as a family of 4. We ordered fish, chips and mushy peas for 3 and sausage, chips and mushy peas for 1 of us. The portions were a good size in fact 3 of us couldn’t finish ours. The fish was a good size as well, we all opted for our peas to be poured over the rest of our meal and the staff didn’t scrimp there was plenty of peas. Everything was hot and tasty the only thing we would say is although we had a lot of chips, a lot were very bitty like the bottom of the scraps. This could be the potatoes I suppose. The staff were very quick and efficient and the cost was very reasonable.

Maggie came recommended to us by friends. Visited for a fish supper. Premises tidy - but it was quiet for peak time on a Saturday night. All the staff look like they’re filling in between school & university. The quality of the fish was excellent but ruined by soggy, sponge like batter. We scraped it all off. Generous portion of decent chips. Mushy peas fine. Price acceptable. Unfortunately we won’t be going back, at least for fish & chips - where good batter is a fundamental element

Good fish and chips here. Usually crisp and hot. Fish could be bigger - but batter is excellent. Mushy peas are just right. They also do specials too - so pies and liver and onions. Parking can be difficult

Lovely chips but the young girls serving could smile!!! I disagree with the statement as regards the potatoes,rubbish it’s how you cook them you wouldn’t have any customers if that was the case and good customer service wouldn’t do your staff any harm ,but as I say the food was good and believe me I know !!!

A couple of weeks ago my husband brought home a portion of chips (+ mushy peas and gravy) for a quick lunch treat. The chips were awful and greasy and not eaten. Thinking this was just a blip to the usually excellent food served by Maggies, I bought a portion of chips and fish at 12ish today. While in the shop I mentioned our disappointment with the previous portion of chips. The very nice person serving me suggested it was to do with poor quality of potatoes and that this had been rectified with the usual potatoes now being cooked. What another disappointment today ... the fish was already cooked and I didn't need to wait for it however when we came to eat it, it was very greasy. If you pushed it with your fork the grease oozed from it. Also, the chips were horrible and looked and tasted as though they had been re-fried from the previous day. Sorry Maggies, it will be a long time before we go back to you. Sad as this was an excellent fish and chip shop.

The essential for fish and chips is that they should taste good. Here they do and not too oily. Low prices, but fish on the small side. Could do with a large fish on the menu.

We called in as we had family visiting for the day it was a Monday the doors were open as I walked in but no one anywhere to be seen I even called out but no reply obviously closed but not locked up

Better than the usual chippy. Usually busy, which says it really. The staff are always friendly, and service is quick.

We have been before but just had to reflect on the quality of the food friendliness of the staff and even the happy customers. Everything cooked fresh and the home cooked specials meals are just first rate !!!!!!!

My daughter and I popped in just as they were closing, fair play to the owner he still served us.He was a lovely man.We both had chicken curry with rice and chips. It was delicious, fruity, tasty and full of chicken. Couldn't believe it only cost just over a fiver for both meals!!. Would definitely recommend and we will return.

Lovely food and real cheap. Big portions freshly cooked. Traditional fish and chips to curry and rice. Homemade pies. Open Sunday teatime. Nice staff

Excellent food always visit here and food is lovley staff are fantastic apart from couple of young girls a blonde girl and a girl called Tiffany I think , there has been another girl called Leah what a pleasant young lady she is and very well mannered not like the other two, sorry but that's my opinion everything else excellent

Been going here for years and the standard is still tip top. Excellent chippy, service and price. Excellent in every way. We were served by Tiffany and she was wonderful. Excellent chippy.

Great homemade pies, curry, what other chippy sells cauliflower cheese, belly pork and stuffing...food amazing , value amazing too.

This fish & chip restaurant has an extensive range of choices - all excellent. Proof of quality - there is always a queue. Prices excellent, quality superb

We visit on a regular basis, it has recently changed hands but food is just as good. Staff are friendly but beware it gets very busy at times - which speaks for itself.

Chips were dry and hard, fish batter was greasy not good tasting at all will not be returning - how hard is it to cook good chips and a battered fish - why not stick to previous owners cooking recipes

Only a small place but spook much choice. From usual fish x chips to cottage pie lasagne and even belly pork yummy.

Went for Friday night fish and chips and didn’t know that it hand changed hands. Unfortunately the fish was dry and the batter wasn’t nice at all. The chips were over cooked and hard. There was a long que but I wonder how long that will be the case. It wasn’t expensive but I would be happy to pay a bit more for a better product. The Previous owners fish and chips were great shame they didn’t pass on their expertise.

i went to maggie,s kitchen fish and chip shop on 27 7 18 i was very disappointed with the meals me and my wife had then i found out it was under new management what a disapointment that was the fish and chips were not verynice and the curry sauce was of poor quality i defo wont be going there again its a shame realy had some loverly meals there before the changes

I read earlier reviews saying it was great, and the long queues were because the chips were great. I asked for a couple of items on the board, to be told they didn't have any. So we ordered your standard fish supper. The line began to grow outside the shop. Not because the chips were great, but because the service was so slow. I think people who rate this place as excellent haven't travelled much.

We don't often have chips, so what a treat to find this chip shop. We knew it would be good as locals were happy to queue in the rain up the street. I saw it with my own eyes! Try their curry sauce; most definitely homemade. They have daily specials too such as liver and onions or lasagne which smelled divine.

Forget the Wishing well down the road this is the reason people come to this tired old town. A proper chippy with queues outside the door...don't panic its a small building! Even the seagulls fly from Llandudno the food is that good!

Long standing business.We go here regularly. They have a fantastic range of foods from full steak dinners to cauliflower cheese, curries etc. Everything tastes great. Queues are always long as you'd expect but service is quick and it is great value for money too.

Either crispy fish & chips or soggy fish & chips that's full of grease :( fish, sausage & other items stock piled in the heaters :(

You can always spot the good eating places by seing the length of the queue and sometimes the queue at Maggie's stretches around the shop and along the street. Maggie's is something of an institution in the town with folks travelling quite a long way for some of the best fish and chips. There is also an extensive choice of other meals on offer. I have been visiting Maggie's for years and the only criticism is that I would like smaller portions of chips. My family of 3 used to share a single portion!

The very best fish and chips in our area. They are cooked to perfection and having had a take away from there on at least three occassions recently First rate service first rate food. always busy and also serves lots of home cooked food as well

Our family finds the fish and chip among the best we have sampled in all of Great Britain! The chips are tasty; the fish is a healthy portion; the roast pork belly is fabulous; the pies (all of them) are fantastic; and to top it all off, the owner and staff are very friendly. They have very fair prices (lower than most). We eat there whenever we can.

Love Maggies kitchen, the best fish n chip shop around, wouldn't go anywhere else for a chippy tea👌

Maggie's Kitchen is a great chippy, customers are queued out of the door, good portion sizes, very tasty. A much loved takeaway in our local community.
