Maggie's Cafe & Restaurant in Lewisham

Fuimos aquí hace unos años, así que regresamos un sábado por la mañana en octubre mientras nos alojamos en el Premier Inn enfrente. Pedí el desayuno de hasta 20 artículos! (tenía 12 creo! ). El tocino estaba muy sabroso y por supuesto que me ganó. El resto de la familia tenía una mezcla de diferentes platos y todos disfrutamos mucho de la comida. La bienvenida amable / bromas de la señora italiana que estaba ayudando hizo la comida! Volverá cuando se aloje enfrente de nuevo.

Nos sentamos afuera de Maggies Kitchen para ver el mundo pasar. En el interior, el lugar está limpio y se ve muy acogedor. El personal es muy amable. puedes crear tu propio desayuno, cosa que hicimos... las opciones son muy extenso. Mi única crítica fue el hecho de que las salchichas no eran de gran calidad, pero el desayuno en general era muy buena relación calidad-precio. Los huevos, toms y setas estaban perfectamente cocinados, en mi opinión. Quedamos muy impresionados con el tocino, del que se obtiene un montón! Cuando pides el desayuno aquí, recibes una gran cantidad de comida... casi están regalando esta tarifa. Inténtalo, son muy amables y se preocupan por lo que hacen.

Bonitas casetas en el interior, con recuerdos de la familia en las paredes. Sentado afuera, era una mañana encantadora. Tuve que crear su propio desayuno, vino en dos, luego tostadas y té o café sin fondo, todo para 11. 95 . ! ! Era enorme cuando llegó, el tocino estaba crujiente, la burbuja y el chirrido era sabroso, sin escatimar que era todo tan bueno. Me derrotó, mi esposo terminó lo que yo no pude. Excelente servicio, me alegro de que paramos aquí para un desayuno tan sorprendentemente bueno, ganga.

Gran puré de papas, carne asada bien, té bien, brócoli grisáceo (saltar seguro) , pollo seco (no “suculento”) , zanahorias insípidas, comida sosa en general. Había humo de cigarrillo de la camarera soplando en la puerta mientras estábamos comiendo.

Great food and friendly service. Love the bottomless tea. You don't feel rushed out and the food is well done, plenty of it, classic hearty fare.

There are a lot of bad reviews on but I had a lovely meal of Salmon & vegetables! It was really good! Lovely latte coffee! Staff friendly & attentive! Used to come regularly with my mum when the lovely Maggie was alive! Glad it’s still there & chatted to one of the sons! He was lovely & friendly! Said he remembered me!! My experience was wonderful!!

Amazing choice of breakfast items and very good portion sizes. You need to book but it is so worth it. We were a large group of friends and everyone's order was perfect.

since lady maggie died this lovely cosy cafe has gone down the pan.the staff are arrogant disinterested and rude.the tables are not cleaned regularly.cigarette butts all over the floor constantly.enough to put u off your food.the food is good and well priced,but the atmosphere is declining and not pleasant.it is not like its former and glory

£18.00 for 2 tinned soups, 2 teas and soggy garlic bread! Service was pleasant, that’s why I gave this place a “poor” and not a “terrible” , but I will emphatically not return!

This place is vile, I do not recommend at all. My food and partner’s food looked like something out of jail. The staff are unfriendly, woman waiter with ashy blonde hair should find another job. A young boy waiter is standing around on his phone and doesn’t know anything about the restaurant. I asked if the chips are fried or oven cooked and he said they were “potatoes” ??? he also poured tea onto my omelette! I got up to pay and was speaking with a kind male waiter, he was told to get out from the till from who I assume was a manager and said “sorry about that” when there was nothing wrong? seems extremely hostile place!

So this is the second time (1st time Oct 21) we’ve been to this restaurant and still after all this time, it’s like going on a date with somebody good-looking and then finding out that they have no personality. I ordered scrambled eggs on toast, which was cooked quite nicely, it was very fluffy and looked really good. The bread on the other hand was disappointing at best. Thin or medium sliced bread is a no for me. I always thought that if you’re going to serve scrambled egg on toast, it should be at least thick sliced bread? Better yet, offer the customer the customers a choice of what thickness of bread if they would like perhaps? Then the real disappointment happened Again. On the table were they had different condiments, One of them being Heinz ketchup. Nope, Nope and Nope! Unfortunately, the restaurant still has not learned its lesson, because they are still filling up the bottles with cheap ketchup and not Heinz. Now call me a snob if you want to, but I believe that something advertised on the label, should be the product inside hopefully? 🙏🏻 After using the toilet, I found it dirty and quite disgusting in places, not too impressed with the hygiene. In my opinion this restaurant is a disappointment 4 out of 10.

Just came back to the country and needed some good grub and found this spot near the station. The staff was really accommodating as it was near closing time but they made us feel relaxed and told us not to rush. The panini was awesome we ordered two and shared chips (was really good) salad and a latte. Will be a frequent visitor of this joint , please visit you will not be disappointed :-)

Really sad that such an institution has gone so downhill. Food was average however the service was terrible… The establishment was quiet but the service was poor as staff were on their phones constantly and not paying any attention to customers. Our server was extremely rude, confrontational and aggressive and probably should get a job serving in a prison canteen instead!

Had lunch here whilst waiting to check into to a hotel opposite food and service was good. We subsequently went for breakfast twice after this as it was better than what was on offer in the hotel. On both days breakfast was well cooked and staff very friendly. Would not hesitate to use again if in the area. My only criticism is that the toilet whilst not to bad, could do with a deep clean.

Ignorant, arrogant, rude male staff. Breakfast was on table in 3 mins, warmed up left over food! I was short-changed as well!! Shouldn’t be doing the job he clearly does not want to be there!!! Such a shame used to be good when Maggies was there! All gone downhill! Better cafes around!

I went for the 'Create your own' breakfast. Lots to choose from. I choose a lot, but managed to finish the lot ! Top food and service. Will be returning.

Very poor quality food,The staff were very rude and not very helpful,This cafe was the best in town when Maggie was alive but since she died and her sons took charge it has gone completely down hill,I would not recommend to anyone now,Even the prices are very high for such poor quality service

Its a café, not a restaurant, don't expect high cuisine or restaurant food, have eaten here several times because its convenient, food is simple and bland, coffee is ok, waitress is helpful and friendly.

I had my podiatrist appointment in Lewisham and googled places for breakfast. This was top of the search. Food was ok, poached eggs overdone. A downer for me was the toilet. It wasn't the cleanest and very dated. Both the toilet brush and steel bin were dirty and very rusty. Clearly not a priority to the business. Wouldn't cost much to tidy it up. They do have bottomless tea though, a nice touch.

Visitamos el viernes por la noche. no estábamos seguros de si nos llevarían cuando llegamos a las 7. 25 y cierra a las 8. Sin embargo, nos recibieron. Dos de nosotros comimos el gammon y las papas fritas, uno de los miembros de la fiesta es celíaco y tenía pollo, puré y zanahorias. La porción fue sustancial y los precios muy buenos. Como era la hora de cierre, decidimos no comer postre, pero con mucho gusto volvería aquí si usa el Premier Inn enfrente.

I was staying at the Premier Inn when I came in to the cafe around lunch time to grab a nice full English to soothe a heavy night's head where the short man behind the counter served me leftover food from breakfast! Was cold, clammy and disgusting, next time cook your food properly.

Love this place. Very clean and friendly attentive staff. Menu to suit all. Very fast service. Food beautiful, no grease. A proper hidden gem, but always busy so a popular place to eat & socialise.

Très bon accueil et bon English breakfast. Ce qui est très appréciable dans ce restaurant, c'est que l'on compose son petit déjeuner comme on veut en choisissant parmi une liste d'une vingtaine de possibilités. Au moins, tout le monde est content, grands et petits. Tarifs très abordables.

In Lewisham for the day and saw Maggie's. Stopped in for lunch.Pretty much a nice cafe with good prices. I had cottage pie and veg. The meal was okay except for very hard boiled potatoes. When I finished eating, the waitress looked at the left potatoes and asked if all was okay. I said the potatoes were hard but as I had eaten enough I was fine. She said she would tell 'Antony' so they were right for other customers. When i went to pay, 'Antony' was behind the counter with an idiotic grin on his face eating the left over potatoes. He smirked and said 'They are lovely, thank you 'I said ' I'm glad to see the customer is always right' and left. The man is an idiot and hopefully choked on the hard potatoes after I left. Gordon Ramsay would have called him a deluded idiot. The food was okay, 'Antony' will ruin your experience.

We try and visit Maggies on our trips to Lewisham. The food is homely and substantial and we love the mother and sons ambiance. D

Fuimos a la hora del almuerzo para ver de qué se trataba después de leer excelentes críticas. Se sentó afuera, esperó un rato. Llamó la atención de un par de camareros que salieron para alimentar al grupo más cercano a la puerta y atender las solicitudes. Sin alegría aún, asumido porque estábamos sentados más lejos. Mi compañero entró para ordenar, habló con un camarero que estaba detrás del mostrador y dijo que alguien saldría con dos tés y que tomaría nuestro pedido de comida. Esperó otros 15, 20 minutos pero no salió nadie. Así que fuimos a un lugar diferente en la calle principal llamado Chef's Treat y tuvimos un servicio inmediato. Muy decepcionado, tenía muchas ganas de hacerlo. No puedo recomendar.

Good menu, plenty of choice, food well cooked. Service was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go back again

As mentioned in the title, we enjoyed our meals. Specially the grilled chicken and sweet potato fries. The meals were reasonably big for an adult and no complains about the price. Lovely building for small occasions.

Our visit to Lewisham is never complete without a visit to Maggies. Always very busy, very friendly and very enjoyable meals with Maggie on hand to welcome and chat with her customers. Reasonable prices too. Happy to return afain and again

In fairness after I was served an inedible meal for which I had waited nearly 35 minutes on Monday, the very charming server offered to comp me a meal. As I was hungry and was not prepared to wait another 35 minutes, I declined. Went back yesterday, ordered the same thing, Spanish Omelette. I somehow doubt that any Spanish chef would serve anything like that. In fairness, the servers were extremely polite and I was comped. Maybe they can do a better job with bacon and eggs.

Tuvo algo de tiempo para matar en el camino a una reunión cercana, así que se acercó para desayunar tarde. Reservé este restaurante para 27 personas el 19 de febrero para el almuerzo, habían reservado un comedor separado para nosotros. Fuimos recibidos por la propietaria Maggie y Oliver, nuestros pedidos fueron tomados de manera rápida y eficiente. Las bebidas se recibieron muy rápidamente y la comida llegó al mismo tiempo. El estándar de la comida era increíble, especialmente los desayunos. Todos comentaron lo bueno que era todo. No puedo recomendar este restaurante lo suficiente, trataron con un grupo numeroso como verdaderos profesionales y si vuelvo a Lewisham nuevamente, definitivamente regresaré a Maggies. We had a very lovely breakfast down there. The whole team is exceptional and very dedicated our concerns. Cost and soft environment. Maggy is always here for you, and very kindly like the rest of the staff members. I highly recommend this address to anybody that is around.

Maggie is a character! Great Irish hospitality, made you feel so welcome. The Full Breakfast has a list of items you can choose from and if you think you can eat it all, you could have it!

La verdad que comerte un desayuno en los que puedas elegir 20 productos por £7,95 sigue siendo muy barato. La calidad es aceptable. Súmenle que tienen café instantáneo libre incluído y están ahorrando otros casi £2 más (si toman uno solo y mucho más si beben 2 ó 3)ir a Maggie's siempre es buena idea.

Visited Maggies for breakfast whilst staying opposite at the premier inn. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a friendly smile and a waitress asking “tea or coffee”. The service was tremendous and the food was really good. I had a big breakfast, my wife had eggs Benedict and our daughter had sausage, egg and beans. With drinks was under £20. We Couldn’t believe what great value it was.

Lewisham wouldn't be the same without Maggie's. Here you can get very generous portions of proper homemade food for a very fair price. It's a family business, and you know that the moment you walk through the doors. It's genuine, it's good, and it's friendly.

Called in for breakfast at 8am on Saturday with my husband and son who lives locally. Cafe was already open with patrons already eating. We were served quickly and discovered that the tea, coffee etc were 'bottomless' i.e.they keep filling you up without further charge! Food came quickly and exactly what was asked for - you can tailor make it to your requirements! Three breakfasts and unlimited drinks all for £16.40

Nicely decorated caf, with booths. But...cheap, tasteless breakfast ingredients. Poor quality sausage, over-salty, watery bacon and dry black pudding that tastes of cardboard. Cheap sauces, too. Watery brown sauce, a pale imitation of the king, HP. Free tea top ups, so not all bad.

Como se puede decir de esta revisión, estoy apasionado de Maggie's Café y restaurante. He estado en Lewisham 3 veces y afortunadamente encontré a la derecha después de maggie llegué la primera vez (y escribí una breve reseña). Desde entonces he comido cada comida podría allí, el desayuno, el almuerzo y la cena. No hay manera de que sea a través del menú. Cerca de las estaciones de trenes y DLR, este café es muy conveniente. El desayuno estaba lleno y los camareros eran eficientemente los pedidos. Buen ambiente animado y muchas opciones para seleccionar. Yo tenía el desayuno frituras y podía elegir la selección. Comida llegó rápidamente en un plato grande - relación calidad-precio! Disfruté de mi primera visita y sin duda regresaremos.

My daughter has just moved from Staffordshire into a flat near Maggie's and so we called in for food before signing the contract. It is a lovely, friendly authentic café, beautifully clean and nicely decorated. The staff and Maggie were so lovely and made us...

Used to take my mum here all the time when I lived in London. On a warm/hot day sat outside eating away on a full english. Was great spending time with Mum and she liked being taken out by her son. Staff are friendly and once you been a couple of times they always remember your face. Nothing too fancy but it works. Maggie is a blast as well.

This place is a wee gem in a less busy part of London. Food was exceptional and staff friendly but professional. Thoroughly recommend.

Been going here for years. Locals love it but recently has had /is undergoing an expensive makeover. Consequently it seems the portion sizes have been reduced to pay for it. Good food but left feeling half full. Don't give into the yuppies Maggie.

Clean, homely and staff are friendly and a right laugh. Filled up on make your own breakfast. Great value, was stuffed. Tea refills are a nice touch.

We were walking by and ended up trying their wonderful Christmas lunch menu! Lovely maggie was so friendly and great cuisine, good portions and super super lovely custard! We loved the whole experience, the staff were genuine friendly and reasonable pricing. Also Maggie is a charming personality, truly irish spirit there! we will come back.

Do you like Irish quisine? Do you like the notorious Irish welcome.."will I get you some tea lads?" (Keeps on coming by the way, unless you say you don't want any more!) Take a seat Maggie will say to you. We love coming over here, relaxed and friendly and be very hungry because the portions are huge and so reasonably priced, Not a 'greasy spoon' too much fabulous Irish delights on the menu for that, but yet their make up your own all day breakfast is second to none. Great place to fill that empty belly when you can't be bothered to cook. Make sure you ask for 'Maggies special Irish Sause' with what ever you order.

Maggie`s cafe is a legend among locals but I know people who visit the place from West London from time to time.

If you live in lewisham you will be aware of this place that gives you just the best home cooked food which is in plenty supply.

I am having English breakfast once a week in Maggie’s cafe. The best English breakfast in London!!Amazing place, great service, good price, huge portions, home atmosphere. Really recommend.

Para começar o dia com toda a energia necessária. Pratos completos com bacon, ovos, feijão, morcilha, e muito mais. Ótimo preço. A limpeza do ambiente é que pode assustar um pouco.

Irish hospitality which I couldn't complain about, this is not high end dining. However if you need some half decent food and good portion sizes then Maggie's will be right up your street. We had an evening meal here and though it's not the best food in the world you will not leave hungry. The portions are generous and though not the greatest the food is reasonable for the price. I had lamb which I asked for medium but came a little overcooked but not excessively so. They were out of the wine I wanted and only had house red available. I was after white so had a soft drink instead. The service is with a smile and the special sauce a must. The decor is a little run down though and showing it's age. They could do with spending some money on the place to improve the environment. Overall we were satisfied with our visit. I would not discourage anyone thinking of trying it out, but I doubt I would choose to eat here again.

I have been going to Maggie's on and off for years now and unfortunately the quality off the cafe looks poor and the quality of the food has gone down dreadfully, completely down hill, sad really because even though Maggie's is busy it's obvious they are not using the profits to keep the Decor and food upgraded.

Great ambience. Warm friendly hosts, great food - to order just as you want it and nicely cooked. Excellent value for money. Cafe is very handily placed near the train station and the Premier Inn (better value and much nicer breakfast than the PI offers!) Highly recommended.

Great little Irish cafe. The "build your own" breakfast for £7 was amazing. Way better ingredients and quality than you'd normally get for this price. All with a perfect cup of tea which was constantly topped up. Well worth a trip for breakfast.

I've been going to Maggie's for years.The all you can eat breakfast is a magnificent. The only problem with ordering it is you miss out on the rest of the menu.

Living locally, Maggie's is a place we have been to a number of times.Recently paid a visit with family who were visiting and we all took the big breakfast option- choose as many things as you wish. We were not disappointed!The bottomless tea and coffee is great and Maggie will be round to fill up your cup when you're not looking!The atmosphere inside the cafe is often busy with a variety of clientele, but as always, the staff are very friendly & welcoming. Children are very welcome too.All in all, Maggie's cafe never disappoints and is my favourite destination for a late BIG breakfast.Final tip- I'd recommended you try Maggie's special sauce ;-)

Recommended by a friend who's visited many times. It was a family celebration and the place came up trumps. Friendly staff who moved tables around to seat our group of 7 together. Offered tea/coffee while we were waiting for everyone - and staff checked often to see if we needed top-ups. No greasy spoon was this - smart but easy-going and so convenient for public transport. Great menu, not just breakfast - though that's what we all ordered. Very reasonable prices for everything especially building our own breakfasts. Don't often indulge in fried bread but theirs melted in the mouth just like the rest of what I had. Veggies catered for too.

This cafe is not a greasy spoon. The breakfasts were generous and of good quality. The tea and coffee was unlimited. The staff were kind, efficient and cheery, just right for mornings. The meal was well priced. I would come back.

C'mon, it's not that difficult to cook eggs, is it? I ordered soft eggs - y'know, proper eggs that look opaque but are runny inside when you cut them. I got something like burnt rubber balls covered in grease with solid pale yellow centres. Totally inedible. I sent them back and they came back exactly the same...only heaped on top of each other with bits of egg shell with even more grease on the plate. You could have played tennis with them. I sent those back again and could hear the cook swearing like a thug at the waitress (who was sick of him she told me later).My young kids can cook better than this. Anyone can.

stopped by on an impulse and did not regret it. Large, hearty breakfast with a pint of choc0late milkshare for just under £9!The coffee was very disappointing to be honest but the rest of it was extremely nice, particularly the veg sausage.Will be going again for sure!

I go to Maggie's a lot the range is excellent for both Breakfast & Lunch. A really really good traditional London Cafe. Particularly good is the way it has updated itself serving both great "Italian style expresso coffee" and the more traditional "English Instant". The menu also reflects both modern and traditional tastes.
