Madras Metro Cafe in Edinburgh, City of

Our first visit and we will be back. I’m obsessed with Dosa’s at the moment, and this little gem popped up in my search for Dosa. It did not disappoint. We had masala dosa, lamb dosa, my husband had lamb curry for a main and i went for a vegetable curry- delicious! A hidden gem.

Excellent food. Had nice authentic Indian food after a long time. Planning to visit again soon. The server was polite... great service. Dosa was crispy and a good choice for my Vegetarian friend.

You know it’s going to be bad when they don’t have your reservation but you have the email confirmation from them. This is the worst experience ever. One of the starters arrived about 5 minutes after everyone else had finished theirs despite trying to wait and sharing them. The main course was a disaster. One main didn’t arrive, only one e of the rice arrived. Service was really slow, couldn’t order another drink. We ended up leaving with one of the party not having had his main course and another didn’t eat his as it was incomplete. I feel really sorry for the only waiter who was completely inexperienced. The management should be ashamed of themselves putting this poor chap in that position. One of the other tables ordered a Cobra, the chap asked for a head to be on his pint. The poor waiter had no clue and was using a spoon to stir the pint to try and get a head on it. The food we did get was actually quite nice but not worth the bad experience. Definitely won’t be back.

This place is based on taste not fancy surroundings .both nights we went the vegen options were stunning. The taste of old classic curries that seem to be dissappearing lately, the garlic naan was lite n fluffy not stodgy,everything was fantastic. The staff very busy but take time to chat about dishes.our local curry house like this closed down in covid so was so glad to find this place.

My second time visiting MMC, and I will definitely be back soon! The food is beyond delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff are fantastic and always give great recommendations on different things to try. I cannot recommend enough if you are looking for some authentic South Indian food to check out Madras Metro.

MADRAS METRO was chosen today 7-11-23 for a lunchtime meal.....What a wonderful surprise to find a Restauranht like this in Edinburgh. It even had my favorite delicious goat curry with Pilay Rice and Okra.... I have been to many Indian Restaurants in Edinburgh but this is not your typical Indian food which is offered. It is authentic South Indian cusine, the food is prepared to a very high standard, it was rich, tasty, soulful and really delicious with good portions with equally good service provided by Gurprit took our order, he was very cordial, helpful and attentive while we ordered. I would recommend this Restaurant to anybody who wants a tasty meal. I had the Goat dish which I have never seen in Edinburgh, I am originally from Jamaica where we have Curried Goat and the Goat dish at Madras Metro was amazing, I even ordered a second one to take home for the evening. My friend had Mutter Paneer prepared with a rich creamy sauce, Pilau Rice and Okra. The overall experience was 10 out of 10.

Great spot for a relaxed dining experience. Floorplan allows reasonable space between tables. Service from Gurpreet and the team is welcoming, knowledgeable and responsive. Authentic South Indian cuisine . . . Kultralam lamb, Mangalore chemeen, and the chicken Korma were delicious and serveved in generous portions. Some alcoholic beverages, although byob also applies.

Had an amazing meal here tonight with my nieces. A warm welcome from Gurpreed when we arrived and his enthusiasm for the authentic food on the menu made for a terrific experience. We were spoiled for choice so following Gurpreed’s recommendations we ended up with a selection of very tasty dishes. We opted for Paneer 95, Mushroom Chukka and Goat Pepper fry for starters. Mains we decided on Kotthu Parotta, Biriani and Mysuri Masala Dosa. The food was brilliant , couldn’t fault it. Can’t wait to go back with the rest of the family.

Plus sides - cool decor, really laid back atmosphere - great service - food appeared quickly - interesting menu - best dosa i have had in Edinburgh Minus - none, this place is my new favourite curry restaurant Tips - Try the sarbath, I have always wanted to try this and it was worth the wait - masala dosa and pani puri are must trys We will be back as soon as we can.

We ordered paneer 95, mini-sambhar mallo idly, masala dosa, pav-bhaji. The food was really delicious. Sambhar was authentic and so good. Surprisingly, kadak chai and filter coffee are also available! I highly recommend this place in Edinburgh to consume meals.

Called in on spec and what a find! Great food freshly prepared and very reasonably priced. Waiter Gurpreed, was attentive and friendly. Have only recently started to offer lunch and hopefully this will become popular and continue as I am keen to return when next in Edinburgh.

Wow! Having traveled extensively throughout India, I’m always on the lookout for authentic Indian food instead of the usual copy n paste menu that you find everywhere else. I was so happy to find vada pav, masala dosa and gulab jamun round the corner from my hotel. They were all really good and brought back memories of Mumbai. I will definitely eat here next time I’m in Edinburgh. It was also really nice to practice a bit of Hindi with the lovely waiter. What a fabulous little place.

This is really authentic food, it tastes great. You’ll be well looked after by the team too. Strong recommend. We will be back!

Went there today for lunch! Awesome food and friendly staff. The chef at this restaurant Anand, is simply the best with Authentic South Indian dishes. All the dishes were delicious. Must try the ‘Kovalam Fish Polichadhu’ - my personal recommendation - Yummy! Finish it all up with a lovely Masala chai!

We had a Great Indian, good selection of food, Dosa was crispy with tasty dips. Lots of vegetarian options. And great price for the city

Amazing puri bhaaji Masala omelette with the right amount of spices with paratha, alongside masala chai, couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended 🙏 There was a Punjabi guy from India who served us, had exceptional welcoming behaviour, extremely courteous 🙏
