Wow this was the best Indian food I have eaten, the service was excellent and the food was delivered to us quickly. The food was so tasty with just enough quantity. I can’t recommend the restaurant enough, I can’t wait to come back!!

Don’t be put off by the vibrant, brightly lit decor. What this place lacks in ambiance it makes up for with its fabulous food and friendly service. An extensive menu with lots available to cater for all diets. The flavours are exquisite - definitely the best Nan bread in Edinburgh!

We had a superb meal in the Bombay Bicycle Club. It was quieter than I’ve known it to be because of Covid but the staff attention to detail was excellent and the food was just delicious. We shared starters of fish pakora and mixed pakora that covered a beautiful range of flavours and textures. The pakora were prepared in a light batter that allowed the flavours of the fish, chicken and vegetables to come thru... the haggis pakora easily fended for itself on flavour. We had mains of lamb madras curry and tandoori prawns on a bed of sizzling onions. The prawns were among best we have ever tasted and the lamb madras (I asked for slightly less hot) was wonderfully spicy, succulent and still had that familiar warmth. Drinks wise, Edinburgh tap water tastes good anyway, but the restaurant serve it chilled which was great and we had a glass of house red, perfectly delicious and was a good medium to full bodied and a glass of refreshing white with the prawns. Last word for the ambiance and the staff. The feel of the restaurant was familiar and relaxed, it’s lovely and airy and the big glass front brings lots of light and a chance to people watch. The staff are superbly courteous and friendly and as mentioned their attention to service is impressive. We will return soon, I recommend you give it a try too.

One of the best Indian meals we have had. The staff are attentive, friendly and competent. The fish pakora was amazing. Bombay bicycle Lamb Curry is a taste sensation. Nan & Rice delicious. Just had dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had fish pakoras, chilli chicken, vegetable Kathmandu and a chicken biryani all of which were excellent. Reasonably priced and lovely staff. It's in a quieter area of town but just next a large park that is great for a walk to burn off all the food. We love indian food and will definitely return

I made a order from Bombay bicycle and the food took a long time to arrive and was cold, when I phoned to complain they where very rude and didn’t want to offer a other meal or refund.

This restaurant can’t do takeaway: cold tandoori prawns fishy freezing nan. High prices need better than microwave crap. Putting salt on everything is no substitute for taste. Give up and leave it to people who want to make decent food that’s not overpriced and pinged in the wave seriously awful.

Food was average. What can I say unremarkable. Plenty of other quality eateries in the area. Wouldn't recomend.

Had a lovely takeaway delivered to the hotel reception. Food really good, one of the best curries we’ve had, and really quick delivery. Just a shame the premier inn (lauriston place) wouldn’t let us eat in the empty restaurant, despite their website saying eating takeaways is allowed in communal areas. Would definitely recommend!

Ordered large meal for 6 but when arrived naan, rice and 2 other dishes missing. Quality was average and after complaining missing dishes never arrived. Offered a free curry as recompense but not worth it as quality was only average.

Situado junto a The Meadows en una calle tranquila, de fácil acceso desde el centro de la ciudad, este es un restaurante acogedor.Agradablemente decorado con buen espacio entre mesas y muy limpio.Muy buena selección de platos tradicionales indios, así como algunas especialidades más nuevas. La comida es fresca (el cordero y el pollo se prepararon perfectamente) bien presentada, de proporciones generosas y muy bien de precio.El personal es atento y muy amable.Este es un excelente lugar para comer y un restaurante que visitaría regularmente cuando esté en Edimburgo.

What a great find this place was. The food was superb. The staff were extremely friendly. They even cooked my favourite dish that wasn't on the menu when I asked. I'll definitely be back when next in Edinburgh.

This is a little hidden gem ! The food is about as good as any Indian food in Edinburgh. The service is excellent. Try the lamb seekh kebab with the mint sauce for starter or the chicken Chettinadu main.

Wow... you just know when you’ve stumbled onto one of the best Indian restaurants... when the unusual name pulls you in... with an awesome menu.. served up by lovely staff ... the food made you drool for sure... just the right amount of food with the best of flavours... and the Biriyani was amazing... we will be back for sure

Had a great curry here. Service was prompt and polite. Not the spiciest of meals but the Biriyani my mate had was awesome - comes with a bread lid like a pie! Bit expensive but I’d go again

Desde el momento en que entramos, el personal era amable sin ser demasiado efusivo y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa. La camarera era conocedora de los platos y el servicio fue de primera clase. Wir haben ein Restaurant in der Nähe gesucht und sind in einem ansprechenden Lokal mit sehr freundlicher Bedienung gelandet. Angenehme Atmosphäre mit unaufdringlicher indischer Musik. Das Essen kam nach kurzer Wartezeit und hat vorzüglich geschmeckt! Tikka Chicken massala! Es gibt eine große Auswahl vegetarischer Gerichte! Das hat unserer Tochter gefallen! Das Lokal ist sehr zu empfehlen!

Supported here on the way home from the rugby with my dad and uncle. Fantastic fresh food. Delicious naans. Friendly service but very quiet. Definitely deserves more custom. Hidden gem.

We hoped to grab a table early on a Saturday whilst it was pouring with rain outside. We got seated fast and ordered easily. They were very good at making a requested change from the menu for one dish for one of my friends. We ate everything happily. They also gave a different friend a doggy bag takeaway tin for the curry she couldn't finish. All-in-all, a great wee place.

The dishes were very flavorful, and the BBCR staff suggested dishes of varying degrees of spiciness. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and we took home lots of leftovers. With beer, appetizers, and dessert included, the price was about £24 per person.

The food was brilliant, though the fact they put all there curries in thick plastic containers is ridiculous. What’s wrong with a tin one?!

the food came within a minute of ordering, which means it must have been pre-cooked in a vat. Neon, gloopy, weird, unpleasant slop. Could barely eat any of it. please do not eat here. also really bright overhead spot lighting.

We came for dinner on a very busy night (there had been Ireland-Scotland rugby earlier) and the service was impeccable. They took and delivered our order promptly and everything was delicious! Especially the Chicken Sagoti. We will be back for sure!!!!

We have eaten in many Indians in Edinburgh and decided to try the Bombay Bicycle Club on Saturday night with my wife. I must the say its the best we have experienced. It was quiet when we arrived at 6:30 but busied up before we finished. We had starters of pakora and stuffed paneer and then a couple of chicken dishes for main. The Chicken Tikka was wonderful. Staff were very friendly and attentive and cant fault the place.

We live around the corner from the Bombay Bicycle Club and so we are really, really local. Our taste buds lead us there at least once a week and they are never disappointed.

Four of us went out for a Saturday night meal. The quality of the food was excellent, obviously freshly cooked and with a focus on quality rather than quantity which was appreciated by all our party. Service was attentive throughout and the price was fair for the quality of the food and the general ambiance of the restaurant. Also good choice of vegetarian dishes. This was the third time I have been here in the last couple of years and I would have no hesitation in returning.

Placed on online order for delivery. The order was processed and payment was collected. An hour passes and I am still waiting for my food. I decide to make a call and the member of staff explains there is no record of an order being received. It took a 20 minute call to explain that I had made an order onlinr and I was still waiting for the food to be delivered. I had lost the world to live by the end of the call and with an empty stomach and still do not know if my money is going to be refunded.

Excelente servicio, comida imaginativa, y el personal era amable y servicial. El menú es bastante diferente de la de mill y el restaurante indio muy deliciosos sabores con un toque moderno. Altamente recomendado. Nuestra comida para dos, incluyendo un hermoso Savignon Blanc vino a £49. 81, 23 libras. 95 de lo que fue el costo del vino! Hariyali mi pollo tikka era muy diferente y particularmente sabrosa.

Gran arranque y platos principales de un menú muy variado. Ninguno de nosotros tuvo el mismo plato. El servicio era muy bueno. Sin prisas pero nunca tuvimos que ellos chase o sentimos que había sido olvidado. Sin duda recomendaría sin embargo reservé en línea a través de la página web y que no sabían que estábamos yendo así que sugiero que llamar y reservar. Nada que criticar, y a cinco minutos andando de vuelta al centro de Edimburgo. Ir. Dudo te quedarás decepcionado.

Incluso no merece una estrella. Tremendamente comida complementado con servicio incluso peor. No para la comida asiática.

I did’t do mistake and reached best place Bombay Bicycle Restaurant nicely decorated and pure Indian light music. I ordered Hariyali Chicken Tikka which was really soft and juicy after that main course recommended Bombay Bicycle Lamb Curry when I tasted it was really tasty full of flavours, rice and garlic man were fantastic. Everything was showing the the experience and skill of the chef really enjoy I recommended the place must try from Mr K

This restaurant is HIGHLY sensitive to dietary considerations and allergies - good for those who need those supports when dining out. The Indian food was delicious. We sampled the chutneys, and a variety of seafood, chicken and veggie dishes, and all were wonderful. Highly recommend!

Place was quiet, but it was early in the evening and mid-week. We went as it had been recommended by my student son. He described his takeaway chicken korma as the best he'd ever had. The mixed pakora starters were tasty: the haggis pakora was novel and tasted good. Main courses were substantial and needed only rice or naan bread - not both. The pakora naan was excellent, light with a good balance of filling and dough. Service was prompt, efficient and polite; water was offered without us asking. I would visit again but would order less. We were all very full and none of us finished our meal completely.

Very good North Indian food. Friendly staff. But £2.50 for a bit of mango chutney is irritating and a turnoff.

Have walked passed this restaurant several times and decided to give a try yesterday, 15% off when you order on their website and we collected our food. Lamb biryani was to die for, so was the Bombay aloo - potatoes were cooked all the way through and nicely spiced. Chicken pakora starter was a huge portion and the chilli sauce that came with was yum!

A midsummer Friday night with friends and curry was in order. I had a vegetable Biriani which came with a strange pastry lid that I'm still having sleepless nights about what purpose it served but I'll just have to accept I'll never know. I had some dahl to accompany the main and with the inevitable lager flowing, time flew.

Booked restaurant based on reviews & as it is within 5 mins walk of the Novotel. We were not disappointed in any way. Food was amazing - really tasty & good sized portions. Service was also of a very high standard. Looking forward to another visit.

TAKEAWAY/DELIVERY: We ordered on a saturday night, easy to order on website too. Good flavours, good size dishes. The food arrived within 35 mins and was piping hot! No complaints at all! I went there for indian food with a friend of mine. Was pleased by staff members. They even played nepali songs for us and were offered complementary dish. Pleased to be there. But felt very sorry to throw some food. We cudnt.finish it. Thank you.

There are plenty shops in Edinburgh that serve Indian and Asian food. Since we have ordered from Bombay Bicycle, we stopped trying other Indian restaurants. Sometimes, when we were ordering food from other Indian places, even though we were insisting to make it less spicy, their food so spicy that we couldn't finish it at all. Bombay's manager is a very kind person that takes to consideration what the customers want. We love this place!

This restaurant has really stood the test of time on terms of quality. It's been a staple in Edinburgh for years and has continued to serve quality food at reasonable prices throughout. Through refits and refurbs, The Bombay Bicycle Club has been one of Edinburgh's top notch restaurants. The staff are always friendly, the atmosphere and location are perfect and the food, as always, is spot on.What more could you want.

My family and I decided after a long absence it was time for Indian cuisine. We read some reviews and this little place looked good. It didn't disappoint. We ordered 2x Tikka Masala, 1 x Korma 1 x Bhuranyi 3 x Pilla Rice and 2 x NaanWe were greeted with lovely service. One waiter in particular was funny and attentive. The restaurant was relatively basic decor but fitting. We had some lovely poppadoms and dips to start with. The tikkas and korma came in a solver dish pipping hot, the bhuranyi was in a similar dish covered in a naan and the waiter helpfully told us how it was cooked. The sauce dishes were excellent, the sauce was expertly flavored and the chicken was charcoaled having obviously been done in a tandoori oven. The naan was fresh and delicious and the rice well cooked. The only criticism with food was the bhuranyi, it was a little dry but I think that comes with the dish. All in all a great experience. If you want good-tasting Indian food for a reasonable price this is the place to go.

It is some years since we visited the Bombay Bicycle club restaurant and in the meantime we have experienced many of the similar establishments to be found in our towns and villages. But having expressed our wishes to the excellent serving staff that we required a lamb dish which would be worthy of true. Scottish lamb it purported to serve we were delighted that the owner chef took extra care to produce a lamb dish which was both tasty and tender. For this alone we would recommend this Indian restaurant . One has to accept that generally the sauces provided are very much the same with some modest additions to give a name twist but if the Basic ingredients are good then all is forgiven. Altogether an enjoyable evening with tasty food and happy service

It had been many years since we had last visited this establishment and I recalled the great food, ambience and service. And so it was returned July 2017 and it's as great as it ever was. Excellent selection of dishes, well prepared and described, fair selection of drinks and very good and genuine service. Absolutely worth a visit.

Fab food, great service and lovely surroundings. This would have to have been some of the best Indian food we've had. So welcome after a big day walking Edinburgh and definitely one of the memorable meals of our trip. Highly recommended!

We have now eaten here twice. On the first occasion we went with family members and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Service was very friendly and it encouraged my wife and I to return about a week later. We were recognised by the staff and welcomed into the restaurant. Again we had an excellent meal. I had the Tandoori Lamb Chops which is served with Pilau rice, and my wife had Butter Chicken with mushroom rice. We shared bombay aloo. Everything was delicious with the right amount of spice and heat. We will be returning regularly here now that we have found a restaurant we really like

Great hearty curries and such a good service! We'll be back for sure. The Ghilafi kebab that I had was so delicious and the portion so generous! I would order it again.

Called in on spec and was delighted. Friendly staff and service and the food was excellent. I had Lamb madras (as always!!) and my wife had the Bombay Cycle Lamb curry...both were delicious and the pilau and naan was really lovely too. Terrific Indian food, attentive service, and Kingfisher on draft. I was very satisfied with all the dishes I ordered, from the very freshly fried vegetable pakoras, the excellent dal, and the very recommendable naan to the signature Bombay Bicycle lamb curry. All the spices are complex and authentic. Not the cheapest but definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever eaten in.

We were very disappointed with our order. The best part was the speed of delivery as it was very quick for dinner time, however, what was delivered was overpriced and underwhelming. We ordered a paneer mahkni, chicken tikka masala and a butter chicken; three different curries with three different spices which we order wherever we go. We could not tell which was which as they were all the same colour and texture, and once we worked out who's was who's we were disappointed. The chicken tikka was the worst of the dishes with many better being found elsewhere, it didn't live up to expectations. The butter chicken was oily and the taste was not that much different from the masala, which threw us a tad. My friend enjoyed their mahkni, however agreed it was not the best they have had. We are mostly disappointed as we had high expectations based on reviews found here and on other websites, and will most likely stick to our usual favourite restaurants. Glad we gave it a try, even if it wasn't to our taste.

As a vegetarian I struggle sometime sto have a good selection, it's not the case with these guys! Veggie or not, the service was spot on, attentive and clearly wanting to make a good impression. If you are in Edinburgh and want an authentic Indian meal - this place is a must!

Decided to order a take away from here for the 1st at the weekend for a change after so many favourable reviews. What a mistake that was. As soon as i opened the box that the chicken pakora was in i knew it was going to be bad news. The chicken pakora was caked in thick uncooked batter and were unedible. I then opened my lamb jalfeezi. It looked and smelt repulsive and tasted even worse. It tasted of oil and nothing else and the lamb was full of grissle. The whole lot ended up in the bin and i ordered from somewhere else. This is without doubt the worst takeaway i have ever ordered.

I don't have Indian food much as I can't handle spicy food well, but I had the mildest dish and was able to still eat it so it's a yes from me! Also excellent naan bread

Just had a fantastic dinner at the Bicycle Club last night! The curry dishes were just excellent but the starters and the nans were the real stars of the show! My friend and I asked the owner (lovely guy) to choose dishes for us and we certainly weren't disappointed (one lamb dish one chicken dish). The Kingfisher was on draft and well chilled. All in all, a really enjoyable time - we'll certainly be back!Thanks to the guys at the Bicycle Club for a great night - my recommendation is go to Cloisters for a relaxed pint and then enjoy a superb curry pretty much next door.

This is worth seeking out as it is not on the main tourist routes but not that far out from the hustle & bustle of the city, the service is fantastic and the food is superb. You will not regret eating here you will only regret not finding it sooner. A very nice touch is they give you a free sample of one of their starters while you are waiting for your order to come.

Can't fault the food here - tasty and spicy curries with a good range of sides and excellent nan (recommend the chilli one). Will definitely return for another visit and arrive earlier and less refreshed than this visit.

I've visited here twice in the last month. On both occasions we needed quick delivery as we only had an hour and on both times, the food was delivered quickly and efficiently. The food is of a high standard too, The Saag Ghosht with Garlic Naan was very tasty. A complimentary appetiser was also served which was a nice touch. I have visited her a number of times now and it has never disappointed.

Friday night dinner here. Exceptional service with friendly staff and the food was lovely. I only eat a korma as can't handle spicy food and the korma here was one of the best I have had. Boyfriend had chicken Sagoti and it was really tasty. Haggis and vegetable pakoras were really good too and we were given a complimentary taster before our starters, which was just a lovely touch. Wish we had been sooner. Will be back again.

Very handy restaurant if you are going to the theatre. The staff were very polite and helpful. Gave us an extra wee taster starter which was lovely. All our meals were lovely and the restaurant was not busy while we were in so it was very enjoyable - they were expecting a large party but they must have been due later.

This was my first visit to Bombay Bicycle club and wont be my last. The food was great and all seemed fresh and cooked with care. The samosa starter was superb followed by one of the best Lamb Saag's I have ever had. The wait time between meals was just right and the staff were pleasant and informative of each dish which came out. The dining area was nice also and not stuffy or hectic event though it was busy for a Saturday night. Only gripes would be the air conditioning was too high making it slightly chilly and once we had finished our mains there was no offering of desert or coffee.Overall I felt for the money we paid for the quality of food we had it was superb. This is an Indian restaurant I would certainly recommend and one of the best Indian meals I have had in Edinburgh

We ate here recently and it was excellent. The food was really delicious and highly recommended. Great service too. One of the nicest Indian meals we've ever had.

It is my one of the best place to enjoy my weekend dinner.Fantastic service on time, friendly environment and never felt like strange place.Quality food with good quantity which never can be forgotten and it drives you to visit again and again.

The Bombay Bicycle Club curry house is situated in the busy Tollcross area and it's a place I have passed on many occasions and wanted to try, and I did so just before Christmas with friends. I believe that it has changed ownership fairly recently and they face stiff competition with dozens of eateries nearby, so they have to aim high and it didn't disappoint with a warm, welcoming and immaculate environment.I went for the gilafi seek kebab (£4.95) which is described as lamb mince marinated with ginger, garlic, coriander & chilli, finished with mixed pepper, served with mint sauce and was served on skewers. I have to say that is was a taste sensation and I have never had anything so unique and delicious in a long time. Other friends chose a variety of starters and nobody had any complaints and highly rated their dishes.I chose the house special to follow (BBC lamb curry - £11.95) which is described as tender Scottish lamb cooked with onion, tomato, ginger & garlic, finished with coriander & coconut milk. It was delicious with a decent portion and quite spicy, which hit the spot.The service was fine with no complaints at all.The only negative points to note were the price of the drinks, which are at the top end of what you would expect to pay and this seems to be a common thread with the majority of restaurants nowadays.It is generally standard freshly prepared Indian fayre of a high standard in nice surroundings and a decent curry house that I would visit again.

Excellent food and service in immaculate surroundings - highly recommended. The new(ish) owners are doing a great job. We were all very impressed; simply couldn't find fault!
