Called in for a coffee after visiting the pub across the road, staff was extremely polite. Although we only had a coffee it was hot and tasted great. Cakes on show looked lovely. Everywhere was clean and tidy, will definitely call here again.

Whenever we’re in Keicester we always stop here for a coffee and a piece of cake, and sit and watch the world go by for a while. Coffee is excellent and not overly priced. The cakes and gelato are fabulous On our last visit my wife left her handbag behind when we left and the very kind young man from the cafe actually ran up London Rd to catch us and give her her bag back, a very kind thing to do and we won’t forget this in a hurry

Lovely little cafe. Very clean with excellent service. Cakes were amazing! Daughter had chocolate fudge cake with a loaded hot chocolate. Missus had a skinny latte and a flapjake. I just had a latte. All for around £13. Excellent value! Guy who served us assumed manager or owner as he had a presence, was very friendly and efficient. Totally recommended.

I went here and queued for 25 mins. After waiting I was told they had no custard for my apple crumble… no apology nothing. I said I’ve queued why not let customers know somehow. Or at least apologise, he looked at me like I was stupid as I asked him again are you sure as a dessert place you have no custard. His response was we have been very busy… there is a tesco and sainsburys within 5 minutes, a member of staff could have gone and bought some! Who ever was managing this place wasn’t doing a productive job. I went to tell my 2 children there was no custard they were upset. I then looked around. The seats were worn out, the floor was slippery and sticky. This place needs to be deep cleaned. I will never go back!!!

This has gone downhill since I last visited. I won't be back and wouldn't recommend. Popped in for a dessert but was disappointed at what we saw. We opted for ice cream which was nice enough, but nothing you can't get elsewhere. I'm not sure why there was a crushed can of redbull on one of the flavours. And the seating was absolutely filthy (see pics). The staff were friendly but when they cleaned our table the cloth they used was filthy (grey like the seating).

The hot drinks are great- tasty and rich, and more affordable than most highstreet cafes. The cafe also has a calm atmosphere, perfect to sit and chat with someone- friend or date! 4 stars instead of 5 because new sofas need to be acquired, although chairs are fine!

Lovely rainbow cappuccino and latte, lemon drizzle and ginger muffin. Service was excellent and friendly. Reasonably priced and well worth a visit. Great place for coffee and to watch the world go by!

I visit Madisons at least once or twice a week.. The coffee is amazing & there’s a great choice of desserts, sandwiches, pizzas & Gelato.. I would highly recommend a visit.. The owners & staff are also a great bunch of people!!

Just had a fantastic sundae and shake here on a sweltering Sunday night. I had the quella (Ferraro Rocher and Nutella) and toffee sundae with the whipped cream and it was scrumptious. Great textures with the cream, gelato and waffle - highly recommend. My partner had a chocolate shake that was really thick as it was gelato and milk. We kept swapping and loved both of these treats. We will be back soon!

This is appallingly bad. the food is awful, the service is terrible. The Indian dishes are particularly bad. As for the so called so called gelateria this should not be called any such it is worse than the worst ice cream I have every had. Never again.

Now considering I haven’t been in 5 years. We thought we would give this place ago again. Firstly waiting to order took 10 minutes as staff rushed of their feet. The girl serving then had been slagging about a customer stating it’s their problem if they ordered the wrong size. We placed our orders and the desserts came out very very quickly. I take it had been a microwave job. The apple crumble is bland as hell. No flavour to it what so ever. One of our party had sticky toffee pudding. She took one bite and it was extremely dry. She asked to change the dessert but she got told she had to pay the 75pence difference. 75pence is insulting to say the least and just got a full refund not even with a sorry from the girl. Just a ‘well that’s how the sticky pudding is’ poor service and poor food. Won’t be back again. Never seen such appalling service. Deffo need some new staff with actual customer service skills. I’m surprised this place is still open.

We went as a pick-me-up after a long day and had a lovely time. The service was friendly and the desserts were delicious. It was also lovely to see a steady flow of customers, proving it to be a successful business. The warm cookie with ice cream was lovely, and I look forward to trying out alternative dishes in the future.

The desserts are good and so is the food, however I just think that the sort of money they charge is too much! The food here is basic stuff that they essentially put in a toaster and charge £4 for, other then that it’s good.

Reasonably priced and good deserts. There are a lot of dessert places popping up around town but most are very expensive and over indulgent. This place keeps it simple but good. Worth the visit if you want to treat yourself.

Visited on Friday night after a night on the town. What a great place for a fabulously hot coffee and a delicious desert. 3 members of our party had waffles with various toppings, I had warm cookie dough with ice cream.... unbelievable! Thank you guys for a great visit, lots of attentive staff and great surroundings. Extra seating downstairs and the toilets are also downstairs.

Slightly out of the way, but all gelato made on the premises by the excellent Sam, from the finest ingredients. If you want an indulgent treat, go to Madison’s, the best gelato in town! Great coffee, cake and sandwiches too. Lots of quiet space upstairs and also in the basement.

This was the second time I’ve visited this establishment. The first time it was fine but this time as we were sitting eating our ice creams my daughter who is 14 months old filled her nappy as babies do. I needed to change her so I went to look for the changing facilities and couldn’t find any so I asked my partner to pop upstairs to ask where the baby changing room was only to be told there wasn’t one or a disabled toilet! What an absolute joke!! I feel that if this is a place that you would visit with your family so why not offer facilities for a family?? Will defineyly not be visiting this establishment again!

Went there with my girlfriend. Saw cookie dough on the menu and ordered it without thinking twice. The first bite was something out of a poetry book. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Having visited here twice recently, I can honestly say this place is a joke. Both visits have been horrendous from start to finish!

Stylish looking cafe with some comfy sofa style seats. The cakes looked very nice and their sandwiches. We had a waffle and walnut cake. The cake was excellent. The waffle not so. It was a little bit on the hard side and absorbed very little of the melted ice cream. Would like to visit again and try the cakes.

Hi, I had a recent visit at Madisons and due to only being able to eat Gluten Free Food I wanted to give a special mention to Adil who looked after my needs and ensured that I had no issues. Wanted to say a big thank you as I struggle to have desserts anywhere else.

Have come here a few times for some dessert, nice decoration around the walls and it also offers seat downstairs for some privacy. Food was great and service too

Food was decent enough however the customer service was appalling. No smiles or assistance whilst ordering.

I like Madisons they do inexpensive gelato & desserts and they are open late if you want to go out & socialize without being round drunk people

Went there post a recommendation and reviews on tripadvisor. The place was amazing, interiors are catchy. Ordered there ice cream cake and wasn't a disappointment. They have some good deserts and it was a good experience. The only low was on the billing where the cashier handed over old pound coins and I didn't notice until the next week. Not sure it was by mistake but I thought UK had discontinued the coins. Anyways, for desserts a good place to go for.

Went there with my wife. Waited ages for our order that we nearly decided to leave without having it. Customer service is so poor there. I definitely wouldn’t be going back again.

The food was great, and service was very friendly. I got a milk chocolate cookie dough which was cooked to perfection served with ice cream whilst my sister got a bubblegum drink. So many ice cream flavours to choose from and definitely think it would be a fab place to have a laugh

As for knickerblocker glory, it was made with a high quality ice cream prepared perfectly. Such an improvement from my recent visit to a similar place in Birmingham. The choco fudge with custard was served just at the right temperature and tasted lovely too especially with the background music we were treated to.... that song from the movie white chicks sure put a smile on our faces. We will certainly be visiting here again it was truly pleasurable.

Came with family, waited forever then was told they lost the order! I don't know what the food is like but the service is definitely not up to standard.

Never been in this area of Leicester before and was looking for a coffee before heading to my next meeting. Really friendly cafe, great service and really fab snack and interesting fittings! Clean and tidy, if in the area again one to return too.

some reviews are written out of anger but this one is written with an upset heart. I truly an disappointment with the level of service received today at Madison's. what a shambles, honestly I am just so disappointed. just feel like the level of service now fits in line with the level of their desserts. Totally unprofessional and immature from the staff. I'm not asking for butler service but a little courtesy isn't a thing of the past as some of these places make out to be. I mean seriously, who doesn't give a lid to takeaway dessert? is it seriously going to affect their profit margins to that extent? costcutting on a ridiculous level if you ask me. This place is not family friendly and if your child/children want additional items you will need to go back to counter and reorder, which now means your ice cream will melt whilst ordering another. Apparently the staff are not allowed to take orders. I'm done.

It's such a shame. I've returned here after a year or so. To come in with an open mind and have another try. My Indian chai was perfect, the Victoria sponge lovely too.

Found that Madisons were choc ice cream that has little hazelnut nibs in so as that is my favourite we went for a dessert. The ice cream was very good. The cakes look fab, will have to try some soon.

Having been here a few times now, I absolutely love their waffles and coffee. They are so good at custom orders and very friendly staff.

My favourite deserts place in leicester because it's usually quieter. Great waffles and ice creams. Service is not so great but I can put up with it for fat free calorie free weight loss cake n cream

Returning to the area after a few years away - finding a good place to sit, have a drink, some quality food etc. is high on my list of priorities. The owner obviously prides himself in a good coffee - the Flat White is my go to choice... and Madisons do it right.

Great coffee! One of the best cappuccino I've had in a while. Ice creams are amazing! What a variety too! And if you're not an ice cream person there's plenty of choices of gateaux too!

OK, I accept that this is primarily an ice cream place but at midday there wasn't any ice cream available. Having said that, I went in for coffee so the absence of ice cream wasn't A big deal. Anyway, it's a shame I had just come from the 6 degrees coffee shop (see review) down the road which had set my expectations at 'high'. I had a de-caf Americano which was decidedly average. The cup was chipped and the service was lacking. The guy said the right things and certainly wasn't rude but it did all seem very automated. A bit eye contact and a smile goes a long way. The bagels looked good, but if it's just a coffee and cake you are after keep walking another 100m towards the city and go to the 6 Degrees coffee house.

Following a meal in nearby Lemon Pepper and Sprinkles Cafe, we decided to pop in here for a cup of tea and some dessert. They have a vast selection of cakes, cheesecakes, Gateau’s, Gelatos and and Indian desserts to choose from. I opted for the Boston Mudcake, which I was advised is best served warm, which is what I then opted for. It was very chocolaty, perhaps a bit too much for my liking, but certainly complemented my Indian cup of chai perfectly. The cafe has quite a narrow ground floor, with seating by the window, which was quite busy, but there is also plenty of seating on a different floor from what I could make out.

We love going to Madison's. It's friendly, cosy and the staff are lovely. Although the prices have gone up, the choice and taste of lunch options + desserts (waffles, crepes, sundaes, cakes, ice creams, milkshakes) is amazing. The waffles in particular are really good.

Madison's has recently revamped the place and it looks amazing. The food is amazing, the decor is amazing, the service is amazing and everything over is amazing!! The selection of food is so hard to pick from but I tend to always go for the cookie dough. I've got a major sweet tooth so I love this place!

We came here for dessert to celebrate family birthdays and it was everything we hoped it would be. We all found something to enjoy and weren't disappointed! Looking forward to going back!

Went for post main dessert. Walking in you are hit by an amazing smell and amazing selection of cakes in front of you. But this is nothing when you are given a menu and faced with an unbelievable choice of food.

Not had a bad dessert to date here, staff are always friendly and the desserts are always spot on. Sometimes the wait can be longer than one would hope for, but the wait is well worth it.

An evening out with my family . Seeing the ice cream being made all fresh it was amazing. The ice cream was delicious and the place was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and very kind to the children even if they were a bit noisy .

Only reason i still on the odd occasion go to Madison's is to get the odd coffee and the service which is quite nice. I was greeted by two nice young men, one with a tattoo on his right arm and the other a tall ginger young man. I was served by the young man with the tattoo who was very nice and even made me laugh.

Place has lots of flavours.... Very unusual ones like red bull, Nutella, Ferrero Roche , etc , stuff were friendly, ice cream was ok, place could improve the cleanest the tables were untidy and messy ...

A friend and I visited Madison's one evening, hoping for a relaxing end to the evening. As we were waiting in the queue at the counter, we were approached by the waitress who indicated the comfortable sofas behind us and asked if we wouldn't mind not sitting there as it would soon get busy and could we sit elsewhere. We were a taken aback as there were very few customers in but said okay, we would sit in the window seats and she accompanied us to the seats where we gave her our order. To our amazement, she wouldn't take our order but said we would have to queue! We explained that that is exactly what we had been doing when she moved us. We rejoined the queue and at that point 2 men came in and promptly sat down on the comfy sofas. They were not asked to move. At this point, we felt we were being treated very badly and decided to take our custom elsewhere since it was clearly not valued.

Madison's is not as popular as Heavenly Desserts, but it has become our favourite non-pretentious place. The desserts are amazing. I haven't tried the food so I can't comment on that. Service is really good too.

Decided to give this place a try as my son deserved a treat. Ordered chocolate waffle with two scoops ice cream, nuts choc syrup, strawberries and bananas on top. Charged £8.00 plus, thought that was pricey but hey maybe it's worth it. Choose to sit downstairs, mistake as the staircase is unsafe for kids and the room downstairs smells and feels damp. Waffle turned up and I was shocked it was tiny, not the full round waffle you get at most places, this was rectangular shape and no bigger than half a slice of bread. My son ate the ice cream and didn't eat the waffle, he said it wasn't nice, this is coming from a five year old. Tried the waffle for myself it was stale, something premade and heated up, definitely wasnt fresh, complete rip for. It's obvious why this place is always empty, not only does the place look tired, run down, but also their food quality is poor. I will stick to fudge puppy on east park road, delicious n fresh unlike madisons.

If you want a decent hot drink then this place is fine. I've had a hot chocolate here and price point and product are fine. If you fancy anything more then save your money and go elsewhere. In my opinion I have found their cakes to be stale. Gelato to be more cheap ice cream and desserts to be seriously overpriced.

Would never eat here again, I could even smell the cheap chocolate from the desert. Disgusting, waste of 15pound!!!!!!

Walked in on a Tuesday afternoon

Great place to go for desserts, good atmosphere, conformable for family, friends. Always have a nice time here. Been here many times and don't have any complaints, if you get bored they have lots of TVs.

This was my first visit to a specialist desert parlour in the UK. Do it quite a lot on holiday but never thought to do it here before. Having had a main course elsewhere, I didn't have room for a warm pudding with custard and went for an ice-cream - amazing and automatically came with two spoons for us to share. Best ice cream we've had in ages and the fresh strawberries had more flavour than some you get in summer. The atmosphere was so friendly too with a real mix of people. We're converts to the desert parlour concept now!

Everyone in our family loves it! Anything we ever ordered there was of high quality, people may complain is too expensive, but truth is you get what you pay for! Other desert places are also not cheap and offer less quality and even quantity so there is the catch! Apart from delicious cakes and icecream I recommend their sundae desserts - they are packed with mouth melting goodies not just plain gelato like elsewhere! Excellent hope it will never go out of business!

With three desert places to choose from in London road just a stones throw from each other you will very much be spoiler for choice. Judging by the queues it is Heavenly Desert that seems to be most popular and I would normally say that it probably is the better of the trio however now Madison's has branched out a bit. They have added things to their menu. I had the Cookie dough and it really was divine. I felt sick with a bite to go yet still found myself scraping every last bit from the plate! Although I didn't try it a mention should go to the new food menu which looks like something I do want to try soon.

Expensive. I question whether the cakes are home made or not... I don't know if they're meant to be... Would be nice if they were. They seemed like they could be manufactured frozen cakes?

Been in here a couple of times now. Service is good, as is the coffee. The cakes are ok ,but the cracked glass to the display fridge is a bit offputting.

A group of us went for some desserts at madison and it was lovely, the service was good, atmosphere was great (except the songs on the TV which didn't really matter.) There were 7 of us and we all ordered different things and all the dessert were upto great standards.

So I visited for the first time on a Saturday evening with 5 other people; I will not be returning. From the outside, it looks really charming and a building that wouldn't look out of place in Notting Hill, however, when you get inside, see the ice-cream and the menu, it really doesn't match up to the expectations that the exterior sets.

This place looks nicer than it really is. Stopped off for drink before going to station and it looks a bit run down with cracked glass everywhere. No newspapers. Soya milk served in jug was off. £2.10 for a tea not even served in a pot. Really inappropriate rock/pop music on a video screen. Needs a facelift and someone to improve the atmosphere.

I was disappointed in that I expected more from a dedicated dessert only café , maybe I expect too much. The service was average and had to ask for my change.

We visited here after dining at one of the many restaurants nearby. The choice of desserts/coffee suited our party of four perfectly. We found the mood, music and setting perfect for conversation and of course the desserts were delicous. Between us we had cookie dough with after eight ice cream, ferrero rocher milkshake and a caramel macchiato all of which were great.

I came here with a friend for a cheeky desert after having food elsewhere.

We travelled from Northampton on the recommendation of a friend to visit here and a restaurant for dinner just along the road. I went there with my two young sons to get a choice of desserts after our main meal nearby. Wow! They opted for the 'create your own' - scoop of ice cream, warm giant cookie and toppings. They loved their desserts. I sampled the delicious homemade Greek yoghurt with added fresh fruit flavour. The choice of homemade ice creams, cakes, gateauxs, cookies, cheesecakes etc was wonderful. I would like to return and try the savoury menu served in the daytime, including wraps and bagels. Excellent place with warm, friendly service. Would definitely recommend.

I have been here on a number of occasions. Been impressed every time. Great icecream with tons of flavour. Try the new cookie dough. Sam, who runs the place, is a lovely guy and icecream genius even though he can't use the till.

I went to Madison an was over charged on a cake shake, the person serving me charged me for a milk shake and a cake separately I paid over £10.00 for jus 2 milkshakes which I ordered, having ordered for the first time because of a recommendation and with the product in front of me I paid the askin price and left. I returned to have a cookie dough a month later and raised my concerned with a staff member, who even said I think they charged you separately for a cake and milkshake. Went on saying he will let someone know and That was it, stood there with a blank face, no management was called to actually resolve what happen

We went to this after visiting Toros in Leicester which was less than a minute away. We were seated upstairs which was a little unusual to get to, but spacious once we got there.

Found this place today. Only had a coffee but service was extremely polite and what's more the cappuccino was well made and had a lovely flavour

Went there for the third time after a very long time. Service was good. I didn't risk anything after two very poor experiences and went safe.

Quality of desserts & ice creams was amazing & the taste is sensational. Very nice decor & great place to relax with friends. Staff are brilliant & friendly. Can't go wrong. Need to have service at the tables though I think, but overall loved it!

Its a very good place to relax and just have a sit down with friends, there's a very nice atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and simply fun to talk to as we were able to have a short conversation with them as we were ordering or food.

Tried this place out, went with a few mates after a meal. Nice looking place, got talking to the owner said he went on a course in italy to learn how to make gelato. I've had gelato in milan and the one served in madisons is not authentic, they are very tight on toppings and the ice cream melts within minutes of it being served! The staff aren't really that bothered. They need to sort things out especially as there are many other places locally which offer nice desserts!

For a dessert parlour that seems to have lost a lot of custom to a newly opened dessert parlour a few steps away..the service and quality of food they are serving is appalling!!
