We’re fans of this place being located on our local walking routes. We love the makeover, the warm welcome from front of house and variety of menu. Today was our first time trying their Sunday roast. We waited a reasonable amount of time from ordering to delivery of plates but this didn’t matter as we were a group of friends busy chatting. The plates looked appetising when they arrived. Generous portions of chicken, porcetta and seabass, arrived along with traditional accompaniments. Rotisserie chicken here is a specialty but I’m sorry to say that I didn’t enjoy the underlying flavour of my chicken breast. Good vegetables. More gravy please. We were enthusiastically ‘sold’ the trifle special; a non traditional version with ginger, pear and berry. Again this received rather mixed reviews from our table. I felt it was lacking in ginger flavour and the pear. But trifle is a personal matter for us all! I did love the fact that it wasn’t overly sweet….. but at £12 per helping we expected more! On balance an enjoyable lunch; good not great today.

Wow what a place! Amazing Sunday roast and great staff. Pumpkin cheesecake was to die for. I have so many intolerances, but team member was extremely patient and understanding. If I could I would give them 100 out of 100. Not that many places that produce all of their food indoors rather than delivered packed stuff from some unknown place. Just a great place. Can't wait to visit again, maybe next weekend 😄

Hidden gem on A281! Stopped by chance as we were driving from Brighton, but let me tell you, food is ridiculous! We had Ham hock, fish finger flatbread & bacon sandwich. You can taste the freshness of the food Staff could be a bit more smiley, but you are only here for the food. We are planning to come back and explore the farm as we were told that there are some walking routes.

We have been several times before and enjoyed the service and the food. But not this morning. This is a place where you wait to be seated and receive table service. When we were seated it was clear the two women on the table next to us had not yet had their order taken. We waited about 5 minutes, they were busy that was fine. Two women then came in one sat down , the other went to the counter, gave an order, paid for it and the waitress started to make their coffee. As this was in full view of us we decided to leave. The two women who came in before us had still not had their order taken. If you make it clear you are giving table service staff need to be trained to make sure that’s what they do and take orders from people in the order they arrived. It’s a small place so that’s not impossible to achieve. Where I disagree with other critical reviews is in price. This is an independent business providing freshly made food. You can’t get that for the price large fast food companies provide and it’s not reasonable to expect that. When you do get the food it’s imaginative and good.

Visited today for brunch on Saturday. By 11:15 the main menu was available as well as the specials board but we all chose from the “All Day” brunch menu. The ham hock, bubble and squeak and hash brown meal was a sensible brunch size. The food was freshly prepared from good quality ingredients. It was tasty but needed more seasoning which I could do with table condiments. The espresso coffee was excellent with a quality coffee correctly brewed. We shared a portion of homemade carrot cake afterwards; lovely cake topped with cream cheese and crystallised ginger. Service was polite and enthusiastic though the food was quite slow coming given the 30% of tables occupied. Price fit a brunch meal each, one cake and a drink each cost £40 per head plus service.

Ridiculously expensive - noisy, lacking atmosphere - buyer beware - check menu prices carefully - cake totally over-priced

This is dreadful on so many levels The food is gob-smackingly expensive and poor The people running it are rude and have no idea of what they are doing They think they are serving high end food - but it is often tasteless and weird It's local so we tried it three times to support a local business and give them the benefit of the doubt that it would improve Never going back after they were rude to my daughter and friends

Stumbled across this place by accident. To be fair, I am pretty sure that is how 90% of their business stumbles in. I willcal lit family run, because that is how it feels. The menu seemed short, pricey and limited, however the food that arrived was flavourful, classy and a cut above what I had been expecting. Was breakfast worth the money? Borderline. Was the service welcoming? Definitely Would I go back? Yes. Would I make it a destination? Unlikely I had a feeling that some of the initial buzz of the place that is had when brand new was wearing off. It needed a deep scrub clean with hot soapy water and maybe a bit more effort in maintaining the plants. Is this forgivable? Hell yes, these things are often overlooked when a cafe is busy, and this one most probably, usually, is.

The food is outstanding! This was our third visit, but our first time for Sunday lunch. The menu is very creative, making it difficult to choose. As a vegetarian, it also offers lots of varied options which is so refreshing. We were a group of six, and we all agreed the main course and desserts were exceptional. It's always hard to beat your own home cooked roast, but this place does it in spades. Great staff, great informal setting, brilliant food.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and they weren't too busy. Service was swift and cheerful but the quality of the produce was not as we expected. Tea was served in a tea pot that was too large for the weak single tea bag, I would suggest 2 bags and one pot for 2 people and a smaller pot for one and a better quality bag. Now the Carrot cake, what a disappointment, as dry as toast with a ridiculous amount of cream and sugar on top, I assume to compensate. The bacon sandwich sort of thing, to be honest there was nothing positive I could say about it, dry/brittle bread and miserly fatty bacon. And all for just shy of £30, you really must try harder and at least clean the tables properly so they arent as sticky as fly paper.

Just went to the Jolly farmer for my 24th birthday. And rather getting a menu as it was a sunday roast it wasnt a roast you ordered up. In fact it was a carvery (sorry if i spelt that wrong) with 4 meats Turkey Beef Pork and ham. My word the size the chef gave you with the meats was amazing and the veg which you could help yourself to was so nice. The desserts were all home made on site i think. I had the warm fudge cake and my mum and dad had the butterscotch tart. And man oh man i would defo have that again. For the amount you get the price is amazing. I 100% recommend the sunday roast to anyone as theres not many Carvery left so i do hope the carry on with it. I would 10 stars rather then 5.
