Bricklayers Arms in Waverley

I was very impressed with this pub, the beer was good, and the food truly excellent! A 'proper' pie, not something in a dish with a bit of puff pastry. A REAL pie chocker with tender meat and proper pastry. The veg and chips also perfectly cooked. I was with a U3A walking group, and this was a super end to our morning walking. I would recommend this place to anyone.

My daughter booked our family of 10 for Mothers Day Dinner, it did not disappoint! Complete opposite in fact, it was a nice afternoon enjoyed in a traditional cosy pub, the staff were very welcoming & friendly, we all enjoyed the delicious traditional roasts freshly served, in which there was a good selection, followed by tasty homemade desserts! A lovely touch too, with us Mums receiving a bunch of daffodils or box of chocolates before we left. Thankyou Bricklayers Arms for a really lovely afternoon in a nice atmosphere! We will be back!!

Clearly a popular local pub, the food looked plentiful. It had a nice atmosphere though the selection of drinks (lagers, craft ales etc) was very limited when compared to many of the pubs in the Surrey Hills. Maybe could do with a bit of updating? Oh and the 'large' car park at the rear is not large....by any description....

Proper English pub with proper beer and food, and home made pies to die for, non of this casserole with a bit of fluffy pastry on top rubbish 🙄👍

Superb cold buffet with medium-rare beef and chicken, together with fresh salad and buttered boiled potatoes. Mouthwatering!

Willing to provide smaller portion of a roast which was pretty good but only one very small dish of vegetables between 3 of us! One each would have been more like it.

Stopped in for a cheeky pint, lovely place, will be back to try the menu.

Carl n Paula run a very nice pub infact, the exact sort of pub they want to go to so. The beer is kept exceptionally well and the food whilst not fancy is created and cooked freshly for you. The portions are generous and served by people who want you to have a lovely meal. Would we recommend this pub as a good watering hole to refresh and feed the weary traveller? Absolutely!!

Four of us had lunch today and it was excellent, from initial warm and helpful greeting (I had forgotten to book) onwards. Excellent choice of food, even for non-meat eaters. Menus change from day to day apparently, so our friends told us. Quality of the food was excellent, all four main meals were delicious as was the dessert two of us shared. All this and in lovely surroundings too. Definitely a place we will go to again and take friends.

I was more than pleasantly surprised to taste the perfectly cooked fish and chips meal at the Bricklayers Arms yesterday lunchtime 30th March 2023. Not only were the fish and chips with of course mushy peas,perfectly cooked but in addition the ingredients were obviously of a high quality. Well done ,and this coming from someone who migrated south from the land of fish and chips.

Absolutely stellar pub in a beautiful location. Interior is cosy and warm, staff are friendly, and the food is absolutely brilliant! The Sunday roast is to die for. Deserts are homemade each day and absolutely lush. Cannot recommend enough

Great food! My wife had the soup of the day and the bread was local and the best bread she'd ever had. My wife loved the mac'n'cheese with bacon and I really enjoyed the Tuscan chicken on pasta. Big portions but we had enough room to share the milk chocolate and Crunchie cheesecake which was absolutely to die for! Good-sized car park, nice outdoor seating area. Very friendly staff.

Lovely pub with great warm welcome and lovely food. Last time we were here the floor was being renovated, so it was nice to see it whole and feel the warm welcome. It's a little out of our way, but worth the trip, especially when seeing friends out nearby.

21 of us older ladies had a delightful time at the Bricklayers yesterday. The food was excellent, vegetables served properly in separate dishes. The tables were attractively lit with LED lights in bottles, crackers provided. Thank you everyone at the "brickies".

Should be starred higher, this pub is a hidden gem! Always looks so gloomy and uninviting from the outside, but the guys inside could not be nicer! Food is delicious pub grub, and the beers on tap are excellent!

Very comfy pub. Food is great and reasonably priced. Space for about 10 cars to park round the back. Lots of garden at the back with 2 bbq and a gin bar.

Excellent Sunday roast as usual.

Booked for a meal for a Friday evening and everything was wonderful. Delicious food was served by very nice waiters and waitresses. The garden is large and nicely arranged and there is parking too. Whitebait, bread and olives, fish and chips and scampi were all tasty and nice portions. We will definitely be back, on our motorbikes next time. 😘

Visited The Brickies again last Thursday for lunch. All Covid guidlines are being implemented and observed. Reduced menu but still very tasty dishes available. Very friendly staff, food portions excellent and lovely and hot. Excellent outdoor seating arrangements. Well done guys!!!

A really lovely traditional Pub good draft beers and food,in particular Sunday Roast Nice garden with tables and chairs friendly atmosphere and charming staff.

You’re in the countryside in the south of England so prices are higher than elsewhere but that’s to be expected. Booking is essential but the food is well worth it. The lamb madras curry I had was lovely and just the right balance of heat and sweetness. The fish finger sandwiches are generously filled and come with excellent chips. Beer is well kept, the staff are friendly and helpful when we booked and all Covid measures are in place. Just off the Greensand Way if you’re walking as we were. Well worth finding.

Had a delicious meal with family on a Wednesday evening. The Staff were all friendly and attentive and although we had booked for the garden, due to bad weather, we ate inside. The pub was spotlessly clean with lots of space between tables and hand sanitizers available around the place. Had no worries so we’ve booked to come back again! Happy Days!

The food was amazing, best home mac and cheese I've had at a restaurant ever, cheesy,tasty,garlic bread with real garlic chunks, Tasted like heaven My partner says the best homemade burger she has eaten too. Tipped the chef. Great prices too, staff attentive with good table service Overall would be a 10/10 from me which is not easy

Excellent Sunday lunch. Service was slow to begin with, under the restrictions, but once we were noticed, service was brilliant. So, left a wee tip for a superb afternoon dinner 👍

Ordered a vegiterian roast and was asked if I was a vegiterian or a meat eater who fancied a nut roast as the roast potatos are either veggie or non veggie due to cooking process. First time I have been asked that, Very impressed. And the roast was awesome!!

This is one of my favourite pubs in the villages around Guildford and Cranleigh. The home cooked food is tasty and good value but it still manages to feel like a pub. The welcome is always friendly. Highly recommended!

This is a WYSIWYG. What you see is what you get. Not pretentious and not gastro pub. Good ales, reasonable food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff.

You cannot fault the staff, service or food in this pub. Always friendly, attentive and cheerful. The food is always fantastic, great portions and reasonably priced. The specials change regularly and are a good addition to an already varied menu. There is also excellent outdoor seating, and for the winter, inside has a cosy traditional pub feel.

Visited the Briclayers Arms with sister who lives locally for Sunday lunch. Did not realise until the day before that we had chosen Father's Day!Although busy we had very good service and an excellent roast meal. No space left for a desert although those we saw looked very tempting.Despite the number of young people the restuarant was relatively quiet and we were able to have a good conversaton without have to raise our voices - a good thing when one of the party has hearing aids.

Very good food at a reasonable price. We enjoyed it a lot.. and felt the place under-patronized considering how good the food was... but then, it was a Monday lunchtime and it was pouring outside. Anyhow, we have decided. We'll be going back, and soon.

Always a lovely place to go. Lovely fresh cooked food. Have a small snack or a large meal, the food is excellent pub food. Nice older/traditional style pub, nice outdoor space, helpful staff (even when the customers are a little challenging!!) and they don't mind if you only go in there for a coffee.

Booked for lunch here..it was superb..weather was beautiful,so we were able to seat in the garden before going inside for lunch..The ribeye of beef was delicious,with a scrummy redwine gravy..Yorkshire puddings and delicious roast potatoes plus a side dish of seasonal vegetables.. Chocolate mini Easter egg cheese cake was wow !!!...Great attentive staff..Thankyou,..lovely lunch...
