Jack & Alice Farnham in Waverley

We went on Valentine’s Day specifically for the fondue. As we went on Valentine’s Day, we ordered from the set menu. My partner’s starter was very nice however I ordered the king prawns which were tasteless and didn’t come with a finger bowl or side plate to put the prawn shells on. The fondue, initially came split and was like syrup and we were then served a mug with fondue with a suggestion to mix it into the larger bowl. Once we complained, it was replaced however no apology was given and then a new fondue was served along side the cold mug of fondue which we had initial given back to our original waiter. Once we had started to eat the fondue, it started to burn quite quickly and we had to let the waiter know to turn off the burner. Whilst we were in the restaurant we could smell other peoples fondue burning. The restaurant has a lovely design but clearly needs to work on customer service and the fondue offering. I would not recommend going here for a fondue.

An ok breakfast. Quite small portions.a Nd they charge you extra for oat milk, though don't discount the coffee when you don't have cows milk.

We came here for a midweek lunch and had a lovely experience. The staff are really friendly and service is excellent. My sister enjoyed her hot dog a lot. The steaks were okay but not completely cooked to our desired taste and they were quite chewy. The peppercorn sauce was also very watery! However, the meal was nice - especially the delicious chicken wings for starter! I will definitely return (but I won’t order the steak…!)

We arrived without a booking, and the lovely staff let us have a table that they needed back and hour and half later - we had a great time! Amazing drinks, great food, all around lovely night.

Traveled to Farnham for work and went out for dinner @ Jack & Alice. I was kindly greeted by Mia who has been absolutely amazing throughout the evening. Great recommendations, exceptional service and good timing. The food was delicious and well prepared!

Quite why this restaurant keeps failing to serve food at the correct temperature is beyond me. Been twice and had cold food (that was meant to be hot) both times. I won’t be returning.

Came here after the Farnborough half for a bit of lunch... the perfect solution. The staff were super friendly, the atmosphere was nice and the food was amazing... so good in fact we went a little OTT on the ordering. I was not looking forward to the bill, but actually very reasonably priced when it turned up. Definitely going back!

We found the service was a little slow at first but the food was absolutely amazing! The service did also pick up in the end and the waitress apologised for delays. Will definitely be returning and would recommend.

Went relatively early on in their opening back in August for my partner's birthday. The concept and the building has been done up very tastefully and had quite a buzzy atmosphere. The food and the service was the letdown of the evening - the BBQ ribs were half inedible but the other half rather nice. The tacos were way too over sauced, couldn't taste anything other than the sauces plopped inside them. The chilli was ok, but make a better one at home! Service in general was very slow, after sitting at the table it was a battle to get somebody's attention to get drinks and order food. No check back after the food came, had to go downstairs to the bar area to get the bill. Shame really as it could be so much better with some proper management and quality control.

We had a large booking in the height of the Christmas madness. The staff made it so easy to pre order as we didn’t want the Christmas menu, all the food was delicious, really unique options as well as your classic sharers. Decent wine and cocktails. Big shout out to the team. Well priced, would highly recommend!

Yum!! What a wonderful experience, we popped in at 4pm with our 🐕‍🦺 and were so pleased with the great good menu ( vegetarian/ pescatarian / meat options) the food was quick and delicious 😋

Good food at very reasonable prices. Burgers were good and so was the gluten free schnitzel. Good choices on the menu, particularly if you are gluten free. One thing though, the restaurant was a bit cold when we visited for lunch.

Went for brunch for a family birthday. All the food came at different times, when the food did come out it was cold, items were missing from the meal. Took forever to get someone’s attention.

My worst dining experience so far in Farnham. They failed to ask me how my meal was, or I'd have complained in person. Instead, they tried to charge 12.5% service charge for below average service. I had to get up to request the bill. The food was significantly below par. The best "tapas" they served me was the burger, which was nice. But better referred to as a Slider. Tiny. The chorizo was served with under cooked new potatoes. And how was the chorizo average? That's a premade sausage. The pulled pork mac and cheese was sweet and overly perfumed. I've had more savoury creme brûlée. The king prawns came with their shell on which is a personal dislike, but they were also served with a flavourless salsa. Not good. The chips were somehow both hot and cold. Like they fried 30% fresh to order and they threw a lot of old ones in there to top up the order. Finally, the padron peppers were poorly cooked and not served salty. Awful. What a wasted date night. A harsh but fair review. Eat somewhere else if you want a great experience.

Great little gem in centre of Farnham with lovely staff

Came here tonight for my wife's birthday. Ordered quite a bit of food as we are both foodies. This place is dangerous! The food is amazing!! Pulled pork with mac and cheese being one of my personal my favorites was outstanding and one of the best I have had outside of BBQ festivals. The steak was amazing and well cooked and seasoned. I'm quite cautious about fish from restaurants, but felt safe here so ordered the fish tacos and they were very tasty. A good range of well balanbced flavours and could have sat eating all night. Even the chips were perfect. The staff were friendly and funny. Was a good experience. Going back for breakfast tomorrow!

Popped in with my husband for a late, mid week lunch. We were seated straight away. Drink and food served very quick. Food very tasty and filling. I didn't like cardboard cup with coleslaw on my plate, taking that when I asked for ketchup it was in the little glass bowl. I'm not a fan of service charge being added to my bill, but I know more places are doing this now. Definitely will be coming back to try something else.

Been to Jack and Alice a few times now for both brunch and their tapas evening menu, and have always been very impressed with the food, service and atmosphere of the place. Very nice addition to farnham restaurants!

As an independent restaurant we really wanted to try Jack and Alice and support a local business, plus the menu looks great. Unfortunately the service and atmosphere was completely lacking and the staff are in need of some training. It's not their fault as no one was unfriendly but we waited for half a hour for our plates to be cleared and had to keep asking people for drinks/dessert menu. The lights are also very bright upstairs, they need changing! The staff were mainly standing around chatting so it wasn't even that the place was busy - such a shame but we won't be returning.

Great evening meal and experience with friends Great meal with friends. Very warm welcome as we arrived with a quick cocktail at the bar. We were then shown to our booth where the staff menu took us through the menu and made some recommendations. We ordered two platters to start with followed to be shred by 4 - these were a very generous size. We then chose a selection of the smaller courses as mains. The menu has an equally good selection of fish, meat and veggie selections. As a vegetarian, I had plenty to choose from on the menu. Would go again for sure.

Jack & Alice has a very cosy atmosphere and a delicious food. As a group of three we had baked Camembert to start and 6 tapas dishes all was very tasty but my favourite one was pulled pork with mac and cheese, couldn’t get enough of it! Would definitely come back and highly recommend it!

Eaten here several times now, the food is delicious. Love the fact it’s 2 very separate menus for say evening. Tapas social eating in the evening and exceptional pub food in the day.fantastic to wine menu and cocktails. The pulled pork mac and cheese is divine!

First time at the Jack & Alice. It was really busy, but it has a really nice, calm atmosphere. Staff were attentive and friendly. Cakes are amazing and the coffee is really good. The food coming out looked great. Will definitely return for a meal

Service was lovely but food was terrible! Overcooked burger, completely bland beef brisket, dirty wine glass, zero effort given for presentation of food. Burger was meant to come with salad and coleslaw but didnt come out with anything. Beef brisket also had no extras with it and came out looking like your room mate at uni had cooked it!! This is a new place in Farnham and they need to put effort in with the food or it will fail!

Large Christmas party on a Friday night, table dressed beautifully, waiting staff excellent and food delicious! All served at the same time, food hot and allergies accomodated for with no issues. Would definitely visit again

Food is ok - not great or bad just average. Service was terrible. We went on a Saturday night and told when we arrived that they needed the table in 90 minutes. An hour later they reminded us again they needed the table in 30 minutes and AGAIN 20 minutes later. We’d already paid the bill at that point so already getting ready to leave. The service was slow during the evening so didn’t have time for a dessert or coffees, even if we wanted one. Our bottle of wine wasn’t next to our table so had to wait for our glasses to be topped up all evening. We spent £180 and felt very unwelcome. They were more interested in their next customer to worry about the one they already had! Terrible attitude - With so many restaurants to choose from in Farnham, we definitely will not be returning.

Jack & Alice is a charming place - charming decor (understated elegance) and charming staff make this a very pleasant restaurant to pop into for some lunch. Food was adequate - the hot dog was fine but perhaps overpriced for what it was, the Chilli was a little chewy. Overall there was a sense that perhaps the variety of the menu came at the expense of the quality of the individual dishes. As I say, adequate but not mindblowing. Worth a visit to see for yourself.

The food here was lovely but the service was very slow. When asked if our food was all ok (when the plates were being collected) I tole the server that my chips had been cold. He immediately offered me compensation in the form of a free dessert. I don't eat desserts but I was impressed with the attitude. I had a two course lunch for under £20 including the tip.

My family and I had the pleasure of dining at Jack & Alice in Farnham for lunch, following a university tour for our daughter. The service was outstanding, leaving a lasting impression on us with its warmth and efficiency. The highlight of my meal was the chicken burger, uniquely enhanced with a delightful avocado mash - a combination that was both innovative and delicious. Having dined at Jack & Alice for dinner previously and also visited their Gerrards Cross branch, I am consistently impressed by their high standards. It’s rare and gratifying to see such a level of uniformity in quality and service across different locations. Whether it’s a casual lunch or a more formal dinner, Jack & Alice stands out as a top choice for an exceptional dining experience.

Great food, highly recommend the apple and blackberry crumble. We ordered cranberry juice which tasted refreshing and far superior to what we’ve found in supermarkets. Only small issue was that service was slow despite it not being very busy, one of our drinks was delayed and the fries also arrived late. However I would recommend this restaurant for the food, drinks and ambience which was overall very pleasant.

We had a lovely dinner for 4. The atmosphere was buzzy and staff were friendly and helpful. The house wine was really nice as was the draught beer. The selection of tapas was tasty and interesting and we polished off the lot. We would recommend it and look forward to returning!

For a Saturday night the restaurant was empty, assuming large tables arriving later. The service was non-existent with the staff more interested in a chat around the bar area than serving those seated. The menu lacks inspiration but on a two person table you are struggling with any more than 4 ‘tapas’ dishes that arrive all at the same time on full size plates with no side plates. The food itself was delicious from local producers but I hope they’re able to sort the capability of their service team to survive.

Food was fantastic and the service was also exceptional. However, the owners seemed disrespectful and didn’t seem to care about the business or their hardworking staff. Don’t go here!!!!

A really welcome new addition to Farnham and everything a great restaurant should be- lovely welcoming staff, warm atmosphere and fantastic food. Menu choice and variety was brilliant- especially if you have children who are picky eaters or have allergies/food intolerances. Excellent service on a busy day - will definitely return.

Went for breakfast Granola was superb with fresh fruit, honey, yogurt etc…I’m fussy about how I have my Cappuccino the staff listened and it was delicious.

Jack & Alice is a great place to work. Any reviews that say otherwise are misleading and likely written out of spite. During the five years I have worked here the owners and management team have fostered a caring and enjoyable environment in which staff are treated exceptionally. This includes fair pay, bonuses and the equal distribution of service charge (tronc pay). We take pride in the fact that our strong work ethic and family business culture translates into great customer service, explaining the large number of positive reviews we receive. Ultimately, Jack & Alice is a great place for both the customer and employee.

Have been working at Jack and Alice in Gerrards Cross for over 4 years and the only way I can describe it is like a second family. The management have really helped me progress within the role and outside of work. Couldn’t recommend working here enough!

I have worked at Jack and Alice for over a year and already have progressed so much not only personally but also with transferable skills. I started as a kitchen porter and was supported to progress to a bar man which is my current role. My bond with the team has been amazing and they have become like a second family. We have all been rewarded for our hard work through bonuses and our pay. I look to future opportunities.

I worked in the Jack & Alice Gerrards Cross branch for over 4 years and never once had any discrepancies with the management team over pay or wellbeing. Everyone there is really friendly and you're treated as family. There will often be staff nights out or leaving drinks to celebrate a member of staff moving on as well as free food on shift. In regards to tronc pay and service charge, they were always given out and back to the team despite being a small family business. I developed myself not only professionally but personally at J&A and still keep in contact with a lot of people who are still there or have moved on. Could not recommend working here enough.

The job itself is fairly easy, apart from the usual difficult customer. The staff are mostly around the ages of 16-18. Also they didn’t get me to sign a contract which I thought was a bit odd. The main issue with Jack and Alice is not the food or the job, its the lack of care of employees from the owners. I was a assistant manager for 3 months (worked at the botanist previously) at the botanist I got at least 200+ a month in service charge. At Jack and Alice its a very common occurrence for all staff members to often receive as little as zero service charge!! This is disgusting. When I asked about where the 12.5% service charge was from my payslip and many others they would come out with “ depending on how hard you work is how much you will receive” Moral of this message is to say to the owners of Jack and Alice PLEASE DO BETTER

Do not pay the 12.5% service charge - it does not go to the workers. I did 65 hours of work there in a month and i received £0 in tronc when I quit due to personal reasons. I tried to get in contact with management to understand why but I was blatantly ignored. I also know from other people that work there that it’s not fairly split at all and they get barely anything considering it’s a whopping 12.5% service charge. (I’m adding this after I’ve seen Jack and Alice’s response) I wouldn’t usually share something personal like this about myself online but I really don’t feel like this is fair. I didn’t turn up to my last 2 shifts because my mum had just come home from Israel where she nearly died in the war and I wanted to be there for her as she was quite shaken up. I didn’t feel comfortable telling staff on the day so I just said I had a family emergency. However when I resigned, I explained this clearly in my message. I have proof of all of this. So for a whole 65 hours of work I did, just because I didn’t turn up to the last 2 shifts due to those personal reasons which I literally explained, I completely missed out on service charge?

Came here for the Tuesday Burger night and it was such a lovely experience. The food was amazing and the service was great too. Would definitely recommend as it’s a lovely place to spend the evening in Farnham

My wife has an allergy so requested this in her food choice and asked the staff member twice making sure that gluten wasn’t in it and also asked a third time when food arrived, only for the waitress to come back to us after my wife had eaten some to tell her it wasn’t gluten free and in fact vegan!!! There was no follow up from management to ask if she was okay or apologise

Service was slow. No wafers or bread served with wine taster menu to clean pallette. On asking, was told that they couldn't offer anything.

Went in the summer for dinner and cocktails, lovely experience. Had Pisco Sour, okay it was made with lemon when should be lime, but it still tasted nice. Went back this evening for a cocktail, ordered a pisco sour and a spicy marg. Took one sip and left. Spicy marg tasted closer to a shrub, they ruined a really great tequila (Ocho), and the pisco sour was awful. Consistency is key Jack & Alice!!!

We visited on the 4th Oct for breakfast and had a great experience, so much so I posted on my Facebook recommending it and so I booked for today 14th Oct again for breakfast bringing different people… but how disappointing. Very slow service, no check backs done at all and eventually having to go and ask for the bill. Breakfasts a mixed bunch, piping hot sausages but Luke warm everything else. Poached eggs hard. Toast came ready buttered for one of us (wednesday butter came separate) we asked for the 2nd toast not to be buttered (which they’d forgotten) and still came buttered, no tomato ketchup after being asked for … they were very busy but things were nearly thrown in front of you so didn’t get a chance to mention issues really …all small ish things but for a pricy breakfast and when added together is very disappointing.

I was a big disappointed. I ordered a burger and it was cold. They apologies and brought me out a new one. The flavour of the burger itself wasnt great.

Have a lovely late summer meal for the first time here, outside on the terrace. Good food, and drinks, was pleased that they could make decent cocktails - the pisco sour was a hit. Would go back and recommend. The decor looked good too. Haven't been back for late evening yet, but will try and hope it's atmosphere was as good as the botanist.

My husband & I stopped for coffee & cake before having our hair cuts in farnham, this place is so lovely & cant believe we havent stopped before being locals! The service was on point the staff so friendly & was just a lovely moment. We actually returned for lunch after our haircuts on that day & werent disappointed at all! Well Deserved 10 out of 10 from us 👏

Popped in for lunch with my Mum. She chose the pancakes and bacon and loved them. I went for the breakfast, great bacon and sausage. Nice relaxed vibe and excellent service. Great place, will be back to try supper.

Tiny portion of quiche of the day- very disappointing- I know it comes as is described on the menu but it was barely a meal.

Food was fine but the service was very poor. Brunch for 5, place was half occupancy. Coffees turned up 10 minutes after teas, one was lukewarm and sent back. Baristas could not get the attention of the 2 waitresses chatting to each other at the front door. When the replacement coffee arrived it was described as “extra hot”, attitude noted. 🙄Let’s hope these are just teething problems.

My wife and I visited here Saturday lunchtime for a couple of drinks. The owner and staff could not have been more welcoming. We had a lovely relaxing time and will definitely be back.

Had breakfast on a Sunday morning. We were the first people in but it was packed when we left. Excellent service and the food was really good.

Went for lunch as a solo diner. I asked to sit at a larger table and was very pleased to be able to sit on a table of my choice and not be directed to a smaller table for one person. Coffee was good though could have been hotter. Feta salad was great. Big portion, lots of cheese and fresh salad not dripping in oil. I'm keen to try Jack and Alice in the evening now.

I had the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had in my life, and I have eaten a lot of Eggs Benedict. Nice team members too. Very young other than the chef, but they were doing a good job.

Good: Nice location/cafe, staff polite, great cakes. Bad: Driest burger on a dry bun I've ever had. Their veggie breakfast was ok.

Had a great brunch on the roof terrace. The food was excellent and the staff were attentive, polite and helpful.

Decided to treat myself to lunch on a day off from work and I chose well! Really delicious sandwich with truly great chips. Service pleasant, attentive and I wasn’t kept waiting. Very happy!

We are new to Farnham and decided to visit this restaurant that is right in the middle of high street. After all, the place looked trendy and the menu was inviting. As soon as we took out seats, however, things started to go downhill. Service was slow - when I say slow, I mean very, VERY slow. Granted it was lunch on a Sunday but we were stuck there for almost 2 hours. It took 15 minutes for somebody to take our order, then 30 minutes for drinks (mocha and flat white) to arrive, then almost an hour for food (two sandwiches) to be brought out. We had asked the waitress twice if they had forgotten us! Other customers were also commenting on the slow service, and asking for their food. The waitress was extremely apologetic and polite but we wasted a lot of time there. The food is very good, though. I'm hoping they improve their service as it would be a shame they lose customers over this. I would definitely visit again just to see if it was just a bad day that day, or if service improves.

A lovely bar in Farnham, my only gripe is the lighting at night is too bright at the bar! Great cocktails, good vibe… but too bright!

The breakfast came and was verging on cold. I told the waitress and she gave us a deep fried Hash Brown to compensate. Would not revisit again.

Faultless dining. Beautiful building with food and service to match! Because I visited with 3 of my daughters I was able to try a LOT of different dishes and every single one was superb. My own favourites were the ridiculously tender and flavoursome chunks of slow cooked lamb in the Shepherd's pie, the cauliflower croquettes and the duck tacos (think aromatic crispy duck at a Chinese restaurant) The evening menu has almost too much choice so the faultless consistency of our dishes was pretty impressive... we will definitely be going again!

Friendly and efficient staff, nice decor and lots of options for vegan / gluten intolerances and ability to swap out items. I had the veggie breakfast but could swap out the eggs and halloumi for different options. Would definitely go back :)

Great addition to Farnham - everything that the Botanist was not. Good mix of food and drinks with a great range of small plates that are actually quite big, small plates. Try the tacos and chorizo. Service is friendly too. Wider range of veggie options would be good

A group of 5 of us had dinner this evening - most of our meals were tasty. We were warned beforehand that our food would not be served to us at the same time as each others BUT three quarters of an hour between the first dish brought out and the last one was not what we expected. Yes, it was a busy evening but I think we would have preferred to wait for all our meals to be served together. We looked at the dessert menu but it was too late in the evening to order anything else. Such a shame because I really enjoyed my meal.

The food is amazing, super quick service as well. Great selection of gluten free as well!!!

We ordered brunch and the avocado was on the edge of being Frozen and the food was cold. We ordered a smoothie that ended up over my daughter as the waitress split it down her and no offer of a cloth to clean it up over her trousers which stained. We were greeted well by the manager ... and the cakes were amazing but too much like bills and a bit over priced.

A new place opened recently and it absolutely didn't disappoint. Great service, food to die for, not to mention the ambience. Highly recommended!

裝修有點懷舊的味道，很喜歡那個餐巾架。員工有禮貌，服務態度好。班尼迪克蛋味道濃郁，蛋汁豐富，如果火腿可以更軟熟就更好了。意大利飯口感一般，稍為有點咸，而且太多蘿蔔粒，變得很像蔬菜湯。咖啡味道太淡，又或者是奶太多吧，不過大大杯還是挺好的。

I've been there twice. The first time was for breakfast just after they opened, and it was good. The second time, I went for lunch, and it was kind of disappointing. I ordered a Caesar salad and sourdough bread with jam and butter for my toddler. We waited for about 20 minutes for our food (which isn't too bad according to other reviews I just read). The salad was below average, the chicken was as hard and tasteless as cardboard, and there was almost no sauce. As for the bread and butter, instead of the sourdough bread stated on the menu, we received 4 end slices of one of those long-lasting sandwich loaves, which were unchewable after they got cold. And you know what toddlers think of crusts in general, and end slices in particular. So, we left the hungry...

Delicious tapas style vegetarian and vegan food, and great service. This would have been an easy 5 stars if the tip wasn’t already added to the bill. This isn’t America, and we might have tipped more than 12.5% anyway given the quality of the service, but we were put off doing so by the presumptive bill. Bill totalled just under 110 for four people, (tip included). Quite empty so seemingly no need to book.

Poor quality, poor service, high prices, hidden extras. I'll never go back. Service was slow and awful even though the place wasn't very full. My daughter's pancakes were burnt, the burnt side hidden underneath. My full English breakfast was expensive and small, they use those cheap sausages that taste like old shoe boxes - the toast is extra. A 12.5% service charge was automatically added! My latte took ten minutes to arrive, the foam had evaporated! Much better places to eat nearby.

We popped in here for lunch as we noticed that the ownership had changed yet again, we can remember it as Cafe Rouge and before. The menu looked similar to Bills, where we often go. We were shown to a table upstairs. Luckily we had plenty of time because the food took over 40 minutes to arrive. It appears that the kitchen is right at the top of the building and the staff were carrying large trays of food and drink up and down several flights of stairs. I mentioned to a waitress that we knew the restaurant well and there used to be a dumb waiter to transport food up and down. She said it wasn't working so they have to do it themselves. Maybe the management can get it fixed before there is an accident carrying full trays up and down those stairs. The food was nothing to write home about. We are not likely to go back for a meal, but when we left the restaurant it seemed to be better downstairs, around the bar area. We may pop back for coffee/ tea and cake, as we saw a good choice of cakes on the bar as we left.

Had such a lovely time here. Stopped for brunch and was so pleased at the choices. There’s definitely something for everyone, and the Veggie Breakfast is worth a try. The coffee is also excellent, which is also a big bonus. Great atmosphere and friendly service.

Went on a Sunday for breakfast last week and service was awful. Food all came out at different times and some people had finished when others hadn’t even got their breakfast. Cooked breakfast was cold. Requested sauces and more drinks etc that were completely forgotten. No apology from staff when our orders were forgotten. No one checked on us to see if the food was ok, and it was impossible to get the waiters attention. Could have excused the service if it was busy but it wasn’t! Wouldn’t rush back
