Just a really decent community tap room. Complaining about real ale? go to a boozer, and drink your ale there.... The guys know their market, and if the demand was there, they'd have more on....bore off somewhere else. Pizzas are ok, team are always friendly. Regulars are polite and chatty. Always a buzz of chit chat in the bar....great in the summer with all the tables full. Board games, dogs, good beer, live music....some live rugby. Closed on Mondays Great place!!

This is an excellent place in Amersham. The selection of beers is vast and they all taste great. We tried their lager and pale ale this time, both excellent as always. No surprise here, as they have their own brewery so everything tastes perfect. Food wise, I highly recommend their pizzas. Service is great too and the team is uber friendly.

Disappointing. The place seems to have given up on Cask conditioned ale. Now focus on this over priced “craft ale” The very nice Mad Squirrel session ale had gone and the staff had no intention of putting it back on. Offered an over priced craft beer instead. We had one round of 4 drinks, which with the exception of the drivers coke no one liked and then left. I wish I could enjoy paying £7.00 a pint for fizzy cloudy dish water but I can’t. I guess it’s time to move back North and enjoy some proper beer.

Been here a couple of times, the beers are the best and the pizzas are very good as well, they just need a few more starters and choice of few more topping, but overall good place for beer & pizza and chill.

Been going to Amersham for about a year. Friday lunch is best for us as we live a drive out. I get that evenings are best to see a place come to life but each and every time it has been the most boring time ever. Best thing is the pizza and that is very over priced and tastes different depending on who puts the toppings on. Today was a let down ..the tent has gone .. girl behind bar told us that its because its now Summer.. Really? its still April in my calendar, and WHY oh why is it always so cold in there .. Miss "It;'s Summer still had her coat on while working behind the bar.. as usual no heating on. So zero on atmosphere.. not even background music.. zero on being comfortable .. and zero on everything really .. it was crap for about the 20th time .. we keep going back as partner has shares but no more .. id rather go to Wishful Drinking in Rickmansworth High Street for decent take out beer (to drink in if you wish), and pick up a Chinese takeaway for better value than over priced pizza, even if it is good!

Excellent craft beer bar taproom in centre of Amersham. Superb range, good knowledgeable staff, great takeouts available across all sorts of ale, lager, ciders, stouts and porters. A great hub for craft beer lovers. Highlight beers are Sumo, Hopfest, Roadkill, High Score, Zealous, and De La Creme series.

This chain of tap and bottle shops backed by their own brewery tend to be the hub of local early evening social gatherings. The one in Amersham is no exception. People seem to gravitate from a day’s work or fresh from the tube to meet before going home. It’s not really a pub but they have a large choice of beers plus a latter addition of small batch good news, and wine. The pizza I have not tried but smell great. Atmosphere is great and due to the large tressle tables inside and out it is conducive to chatting with neighbours. Highly recommended.

The Mad Squirrel, Amersham is our local! Nothing better than strolling up the hill on a Saturday lunchtime to enjoy a bit of shopping followed by a pint of beer from an excellent selection and a crispy pizza. The choice of beers and ciders, to drink in or takeaway, is mind-boggling. I had the Ruby Tuesday cider on our last visit. There is a great selection of gins too.The food selection is limited to pizzas (and garlic bread). Mr M always has Roadchilli (tomato sauce, cheese, chorizo, sweet pickled onions, jalapenos). I love the Sumo (tomato sauce, cheese, chicken, roasted peppers, mushrooms, pine nuts and rocket with peri-peri or jerk sauce). This was very spicy, with good quality chicken, and a fine crispy pizza base. Mad Squirrel is a great addition to the Amersham food scene and well worth a visit for a relaxing couple of hours. If the sun's shining sit outside with the locals and enjoy the sizzling atmosphere. Even better if there's live music.

As well as a great atmosphere in this tap and bottle shop, part of a local chain, the beers are excellent and locally brewed. Well worth supporting. Several standard beers and seasonal specials. Pizzas look good too.

Great selection of beer and good wines. However, this pizza was the most bland one I have ever eaten. I ordered the herb & garlic option ( I’m not keen on spicy options) which along with the chicken and mushroom topping had nothing else to lift it. A decent cheese is essential here. There is even a plain option - I cannot imagine that one! Very disappointing.

Ordered at 17.55 on new years eve. They were shutting at 6 and didnt bother telling us as we placed our order. When i asked they said 'there are posters up'. Not everyone looks at posters as they enter a pub. On a night with normal opening hours I understand but if they are closing early it would be a nice gesture to mention to customers as they order rather than ring a bell after the customers have paid for their drinks!

Well worth a visit. It's different, buzzy and the pizzas are outstanding. The beers are very much a matter of taste, but with an extensive variety available, there is something for everyone. A great place to spend a sunny evening with friends - lots of outdoor seating and great staff.

Fun lively venue! There was a great atmosphere and as it was a Saturday it was busy. There were a wide selections of ales and varieties of gins, including one from a local distillery in Amersham. Bar staff went out of their way to be helpful.

It’s not a pub, it’s not a shop, it’s not a restaurant. It’s a little bit of all 3. Come in. Try the beers. Then sit and mingle. Pizza look good. I normally get a growler (2 litre bottle) filled up with ‘Hopfest’ to take home and get a pint whilst I’m waiting. This is a new type of venue and I like it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Give it a try.

Dropped into the Mad Squirrel on a Bank Holiday weekend for a quiet beer and some food with the family. The staff are always pleasant, friendly and helpful when guiding guests through their selection of beers. The food menu is simple - pizza - and done well. Service is quick and no fuss. If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth a visit.

Authentic pizza should come on a base that isn't soggy and not too crispy. These are thin crust pizzas done perfectly. Mad Squirrel Pizza gets it just right with a great range of classic and modern toppings.
