Mad Squirrel Tap & Bottle Shop in Wycombe

We hired the top floor space for my husband’s 30th birthday and I cannot recommend these guys enough! The space is fab, the beer selection is awesome and the new menu is fantastic, the pizza and nibbles were flying off the plates! The team were so helpful and on hand all night to make sure we had everything we needed. 10/10 couldn’t be happier!

Popped in for a pint if craft beer after walking past on a Sunday afternoon and hearing outstanding live acoustic guitar sounds flooding out and filling the street outside. Wonderful atmosphere.

Lots of drinks to choose from, including non-alcoholic drinks and ciders. Great food as well, we had nice pizzas and great chips. Staff were friendly and attentive - Will we back again very soon!

The best place to go out in High Wycombe. Great beers (+cocktails, spirits, etc.), the friendliest staff, nice fresh pizza and other tasty stuff. Also great gigs with local artists.

Attended a birthday party with pizzas here, fantastic place with great food and lovely staff. Super atmosphere, definitely would go again and book my own party here.

We hosted our parents surprise wedding anniversary party here & it was GREAT! Mad Squirrel were so accommodating & were a perfect venue for the occasion. The drinks were fab, the food was lovely & Andy, Rambo & Sophia were fantastic! Thank you again, we had the best time!

We often visit the mad squirrel and always have a great time so we decided to host a party to celebrate my daughter’s christening there, and we’re so glad we did! The staff were incredible in the lead up to the event and super helpful and attentive on the day, going above and beyond for us and our guests. We had a few guests with special dietary requirements and all were catered for. Definitely recommend hosting an event there or just popping in for pizza and a pint!

We held our wedding reception at The Mad Squirrel at the start of June 2024 and we cannot be more complementary about this venue! All our guests commented not only about the unique atmosphere and view, but the exceptional service from all the staff. The management team were very helpful and accommodating to help us make the evening a triumph. We don't often take the time to review places, so hopefully helpful to stay that we highly recommend The Mad Squirrel and the excellent team managing it!

Great place to grab a drink. It has a really chilled out atmosphere more like a cafe than a bar, and the beer is great. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the beer.

It's always a great time at the mad squirrel! The staff is very welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, and they have a great range of craft beers. They also host lots of fun events, such as open mic night, Latin dancing nights, games nights and more. Another plus is they are also dog friendly! It's definitely a must visit in High Wycombe.

Great live music venue with different stuff going on every week. New beers on tap regularly and the pizzas are made fresh - you can watch them make the dough and everything in the open kitchen!

Call me old fashioned, but they don't accept cash? Presumably they all accepted their Covid jabs? Beer was OK. The craft offerings were expensive.

What an awesome spot - superb bar in a great location with a huge range of amazing beers. Matt was a great host behind the bar, and the atmosphere was lovely. Open mic night upstairs (3rd Thursday each month apparently) was great fun too.

Went in for a quiet drink.... met by a rude lady. Probably thinks that her crazy colour hair means she can get away with bad manners. Didn't actually bother ordering food but gave it 4 stars as its always good... takes a while but worth it. Have absolutely no idea why they have done yobby graffiti all over. Won't be back when she is in EDIT: New manager in but same old rude staff. Better places to drink in wycombe

This place is perfect for beer lovers. The staff is very well-educated in styles and types of beers. They also provide great pizzas and hot dogs. The pub has regular happenings going on in their first floor.

Vibrant, friendly staff, a good selection of drinks for both drinkers and non drinkers, and has a very nice upstairs lounge. Really good place to visit.

Pretty much the only place I go for a beer in wycombe. Whether you are with a group of friends or having a quiet pint reading a book the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Lively bar downstairs and a much larger room upstairs that hosts live music and other events. I have never had a bad night in here. Serve really good freshly made pizza, hotdogs and other bar snacks. We'll worth a visit.

The staff know what they are selling and if you can't decide what to have they are more than happy to help you with suggestions.

My boyfriend and I moved into town recently, and since we discovered this place, we've been back almost every week. Staff could not be nicer and more accommodating, and the beer selection is to die for! The pizzas are delicious (vegan and GF available), and the atmosphere is great, whether you want a chilled evening with your partner, or a fun night with friends. Could not recommend it more!

Absolutely amazing atmosphere and staff been coming here a lot this month after meeting my new partner and absolutely love the vibe especially when we came and there was a live band. Great beers with something new to try each time and have yet to try the food but from reviews I can't wait.

Not my place. It's clearly for the LGBT crowd. The staff mad us feel uncomforatble and we felt unwelcomed. Non of us are gay etc.

Brilliant bar. Comedy night alone is well worth the visit. 3 acts for 6 quid, or five if you pay in advance. One of the guys we saw is a comic genius I swear. We all agreed he ought to be on TV. The trouble is we can no longer remember his name.

I had high hopes for the squirrel, I have been there before with my dad for one of their pizzas but unfortunately the bar maid working on the 06.01.23 ruined that whole experience for me. My self and unconventionally 29 others took a part in a game of 'pub golf' on the Saturday for two of our birthdays. The other 8 pubs on our round welcomed us with open arms and made the experience fantastic. The Spindle and Thread gave us our own corner, The Snug gave us a discounted rate, The Heidrun gave us an area outside and brought all the drinks and the card machine to us. The Antelope even invited us back later to use their karaoke machine, and The Three Tunns even let us drink their wine dry. unfortunately The mad Squirrel was the only place that didn't let us in and was blatantly rude about. I had asked if they would mind opening up the upstairs for us (just for one drink), as to stay out of the way of the other customers. Which we got greeted first with a 'you don't belong in here,' and then was continuedly shouted at by the barmaid. Rather than begging or pleading with her we left and stood outside to figure out where we were going instead. To which she followed us out and shouted at us for standing near her car parked outside the front of the bar. Many of the group moved to stand in front of the church instead. Myself and the other Birthday Boy remained standing on the pavement looking at our phones to see where we were going next and again got shouted at for 'leaning' on her car 'You can get the f**k away from my car' - which we were a good foot away from on a public footpath. Now I completely understand if we aren't wanted in a pub and as we did we would have graciously left; however it doesn't hurt to be courteous in the way you speak to potential clients. So all in all it was a unpleasant experience. Especially as we had started at 5 to avoid overcrowding places when they were in their busiest times, and after the amazing experience we had received everywhere else. So not only have you lost us as future customers, but you've probably lost every single one of our dads and their drinking buddies too.

Great looking pub, Nice decorative areas, wooden floor, upstairs is more for group settings..Had a great laugh on comedy night last Wednesday, That was a blast ..Pizza bar upstairs, good service with a packed house.Enjoyed the surroundings

Having been to the mad squirrel every time i go to berkhamsted from sheffield i always enjoy there selection of beers Roadkill being my favorite but on this visit it was not on tap but really enjoyed the Big sea a west coast ipa at 5.5%. well worth a visit to this miro pub with a tent covered courtyard area with heating. This visit even purchaced some take out cans from there well stocked shelves.

Sadly this place seems to have lost its way.. second time I've visited now and no normal bitter available. Had one pint of rather strange brew and went on my way...

The beer selection on tap was already excellent, but they also have a cold room full of cans if you need more choice. Pizzas looked good but we didn't have chance to try them. Staff were really friendly too. Will definitely go back!

Does not cater for people who drive. The ambience is basic - not sure what they were trying to achieve when they designed the interior. Sticky tables and the food we ordered was either burnt or very pale and looked like it needed a few more minutes in the oven. Staff are friendly though.

Had beers and pizza with two sets of friends. The range of beers is excellent, they are tasty and fresh. The pizzas are made fresh in a pizza oven and are amazing! Highly recommended.

Closed and unable to serve during open hours due to line cleaning. No bottles. No apology. No clue. It’s unfortunate as the volume and quality of pubs continues to decline in Wycombe.

Lovely atmosphere , good service, friendly staff and good food. Never had an issue, very good music as well. Would do with some improvement upstairs and the toilets, the place has a lot of potential.

Nice selection of beers and a really cool beer fridge however the food isn't great and the atmosphere could be a bit more chilled - I felt a bit like we were interrupting

We were recommended the Mad Squirrel by our neighbour and what a great find. The staff were excellent, polite and knowledgable, and the choice of drinks is vast. Friends and I chilled in the garden/terrace area with a selection of small beers. Perfect for kid-free drinking. Highly recommended!!

i often visit Mad Squirrel for a few drinks. they do a good range of approx 10 beers of draft including ipas, wheat beers, pilsners and some others which change regularly (they occasionally do a really good saison - but have not done this for a while). they also do a wide range of gins, wines and other drinks. the service is very good, the staff are efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. they sometimes have a terrace outside, but havent figured out the criteria for when it is out (one day last week it was 28 degrees but the terrace was not put out and they were only serving indoors.) have never tried the food, but they serve barrel and stone pizza's, which when have had at other venues are ok. for all the Karens out there, they seem to follow covid-19 guidelines and although i disagree that any measures should be implemented anywhere, the ones at mad squirrel are not too intrusive (track and trace is done via app) they do have limited opening hours at the minutes, although there is a poster in the window advertising discounts on Tuesdays - they are actually closed on Tuesday and they close early at night (about 9pm i think). one of only 2 pubs in wycombe that i would recommend.

We always make sure we visit the Mad Squirrel when we visit Wycombe. They have a great selection of beers on tap, especially my favourite, $umo!

the space is decent, terrace is lovely, staff are really knowledgeable and sound. but all their ciders are pants.

Great atmosphere, very relaxed. No glam squad mobs and just chilled music. The bartenders are great help with choosing your favourite brew. We went there for one of our family game nights with 4 kids and no one battered an eyelid. The food is awesome

Met a group of friends here for beer and pizza. We were able to reserve a table and get a tab to make life easier on the night. Plenty of beers on offer and comfort food went down a treat. Will definitely return.

Excellent craft beer bar taproom in centre of High Wycombe. Superb range, good knowledgeable staff, great room of takeouts across all sorts of ale, lager, ciders, stouts and porters. Amazing pizzas and garlic breads.Frequent comedy and music nights, a great hub for craft beer lovers.Highlight ales are Sumo, Hopfest, Roadkill, High Score, Zealous, and De La Creme series.
