Stopped in for to go coffee and a a roll, but the sweets hooked us. Coffees and the roll were great, however the triple chocolate cookie may have been the best cookie I’ve ever had in my life.

Went on a whim to grab some breakfast for the next day of travel and what a fantastic choice it ended up being! We both got some of their sandwich rolls and a brownie to split and they were absolutely delicious. Highly recommended visiting for a delicious meal on your trip to Skye

Open weekdays so plan your visit around this experience. Coffee was great however the sweet treats were the highlight. The lemon drizzle cake was like a taste of childhood. We also enjoyed the chocolate caramel brownie and the almond slice. Cannot recommend highly enough!

I loved everything here. I could have bought the whole bakery. Get there before they open, they sell out of their best things quickly. It is a great place, to try the best bakery in Scotland. It was so much fun! Got recommendations from the locals in line. We got one of everything to share and to sample. But I would recommend getting one for each individual everything was so good. We loved it so much. We tried to go back, but almost everything was gone. Luckily there were a few tarts and they were delicious. We hadn't tried them before. For our first sampling - We tried our first Scottish shortbread, million dollar bar, empire biscuit, carrot cake, breakfast sandwich, filled roll, salads were good size for lunch! It was so fun to sample everything,

I loved the sweet chili chicken! the latte was also good. the location is just good. i only wish they open earlier so i could have had my last breakfast with them. the people were really nice :) the donut was awesome! i loved this place!

If you're in Portree, this is almost a requirement. We grabbed a breakfast treat before hopping the bus off the Island. (It's right across the street on the Square.) Delicious latte and vegetarian sausage roll. My friend got a scone. They DO have outdoor seating, which we enjoyed because the weather wasn't bad but wouldn't be good on a rainy day. They DO have indoor seating, it appears (and bathrooms) but it was closed off when we were there. (Public bathrooms a block away.) So wasn't as coze a time as we hoped. But glad we did it!

While staying in the highlands we spent a day on the Isle of Skye. We had our quite large dog with us, so lunch needed to be somewhere we could accommodate him while we ate, and McKenzie’s Bakery, opposite the car park, had picnic benches outside we thought would work well. The menu is simple; sandwiches, salads and baked potatoes, not to mention tempting-looking cakes on display, as well as a decent selection of hot drinks. The queue, although out of the door due to local school lunchtime, was very swiftly dealt with, and no obstruction to a great lunch. We ordered three rolls (ham, cheese and chutney, and chicken tikka), which all came with fresh salad inside, plus a jacket potato with beans and cheese. The cheese was that lovely sharp tasting Scottish orange cheddar; the chicken tikka roll garnered particular praise from our teenage son. I had read to expect to pay a little more on Skye for lunch. It’s a tourist area and an island, and we’re fine with that. When I paid I was pleasantly surprised by the cost, about £24 for four lunches and hot drinks. The stream of local teens buying lunch in their school break is testament to this being a great place to stop.

Popped for lunch by accident as the cafe next door was closed. A lovely little place, the queue was out of the door. I had a salad box which was absolutely the best salad box I have ever had from a takeout place. My partner had a filled roll which he really enjoyed (and he is fussy) My mum indulged in a pastry and a slice of cake which she also enjoyed. We all had coffees and sat outside with our lunch. Service took a while, but it was exceptionally busy and space is finite in a bakery. Luckily there were tables etc outside Loved it

Onbeschoft benaderd en behandeld. Blonde serveerster zwaait daar de septer en de manager handelt naar haar bevindingen. De manager is een loopjongen voor de blonde serveerster. De blonde serveerster zal kwaliteiten hebben maar die liggen niet in de horeca of in ethiek. Notabene stuurde de manager klanten weg daar de blonde serveerster niet wenste te serveren bij diverse klanten, omdat zij vroegen om een tafel en bediening. Het verweer van de manager: Ja ik kan geen personeel vinden daarom het verzoek om te vertrekken. De wereld op zijn kop. Ik heb gewoon medelijden met een zogenaamde manager. Man stap op of laat eens zien wie je bent. Namelijk manager, de gastheer!

This place is utterly fantastic, do not miss it! It was very busy with locals and tourists when we popped in for coffee and cake (amazing chocolate brownie donut and huge Empire biscuit), but well worth wait. Reasonably priced too. We'll definitely back when next on Skye!

My husband has a way of always finding the sweet treats and he found MacKenzie's Bakery! He grabbed 4 of the sweets that we took to the Lealt Falls Lookout for a perfect little snack! There was for sure an eclair and I can't remember the rest, but they were all dynamite!

Just called in for tuna mayonnaise and egg mayonnaise sandwiches and a rocky road. Lovely freshly made sandwiches and rocky road was double the normal size which was very welcome as my favourite tray bake. Thank you excellent food ,service and value for money .

Good quality baked items including donuts and brownies. Unfortunately we timed it wrong and many items had been sold by 1.30. Best advice get there early.

The food is excellent. It's immaculate inside. They went out of their way to accommodate me because I am vegan. They even have non-dairy milk for takeaway cuppas. Lovely friendly service from the lady who served us. Don't be put off by the queue. It is managed very well and you are served quickly. The doughnuts are to die for and the fresh bread is super. Loved this place

Such a wonderful and well run establishment. My husband and I have gained weight in the last 3 months. Delicious cakes and sausage rolls. Staff always friendly. Cannot recommend enough as we are in the hospitality business and know how hard it gets.

Fui a ese lugar por recomendación del guía. Estuve buscando fish and chips cerca del puerto pero sólo aceptaban cash o estaban muy caros. Después fui a esta panadería y tenían fish and chips. Me pedi el pescado sólo con una porción de papas fritas grande (mismo precio pero me imagino que más cantidad). La calidad del pescado me impresionó, fresco, sabroso, se partía con el tenedor. Las papas eran papas reales. Recomiendo totalmente este lugar para un fish and chips a £7 (£5 pescado, £2 porción papas grandes).

Pasamos aquí para tomar un refrigerio, una gran variedad de productos horneados dulces y salados que parecían realmente sabrosos. El personal es muy amable, disfrutamos de un delicioso pastel de caramelo allí y nos llevamos a casa algunas rebanadas de dulce de azúcar que nuestra familia disfrutó mucho. Increíblemente económico para la calidad. Si hubiéramos estado en Portree por más tiempo, definitivamente habríamos regresado para almorzar para probar el sabroso.

We just had to stop by and buy some beef pies after being told how great their beef pies were. They were a disappointment! The pastry tasted a little undercooked and the filling was pasty, no morsels of beef at all. We thought we were eating mashed spam.The staff although not rude, was very unfriendly and curt in their responses.

If you want to save some $ and pack your own lunch/ snacks while seeing the Skye sights this is a great shop to pick up on the go items. There is also a co-op grocery heading out of Portree but this bakery is a gem. Easy to find across from the square (next to the bank!). Parking is always tight but worth it!

we called at Mackenzies we had a few cakes and I asked for sausage roll but was told they are Beef rolls very very nice we even had filled rolls from there the next day just as nice the day we left we just had to stop and get some beef/sausage rolls and cakes for the road Im glad I don't live near here as I would be very very fat?

The location is what makes this place hum away, always busy and hence attracting more guests, especially as Portree is very poor when it comes to Coffee Houses or Bakeries. Don't be fooled by the crowds - they are there because there is nowhere else to go. The coffee is so bad it is really a waste of time to visit this establishment. My Cappuccino ordered with a double shot of Espresso - zero taste.

Después de un día de excursiones por la Isla acabamos en Portree. Íbamos a entrar en la panadería para comprar pan y lo que se terciara, pero eran aproximadamente las 16:58 (cierran a las 17:00) la borde de la dependienta estaba ya echando el cierre (antes de la hora) y no nos dejó entrar. Pero curiosamente, cuando estaba echando la llave llegó una persona a la que le abrió la tienda para comprar mientras sonaban las campanadas de la iglesia que anunciaban que eran las 17:00. En fin... En un sitio turístico como este no deberían permitir a los empleados hacer esas cosas.

We popped in to get takeaway savory pastries. They have a good variety, along with filled sandwiches. Found the quality to be good and the service friendly.

We went each morning to pick up croissants and bread. There takeaway salad boxes and rolls are excellent as well. Go early as they sell out fast. Warm and friendly ladies, always happy to take your order.

We stopped for lunch on our way to Isle of Skye. Beyond getting a nice tuna sandwich/slider at £1.5 is beyond expectations consider such a hot tourist spot it is in, credit card is accepted, and the ladies behind the counter are super nice.

Have been coming to Portree since 1960, The bakery in the square in its present and previous locatIon has always been excellent.

Recommended by all the locals we spoke to, and lived up to the promise. Lovely meat pies, and other delicacies.

Nos detuvimos aquí mientras nos imaginábamos los rollos para un pequeño picnic de Storr. Un montón de personal y se sirve rápidamente. Buena selección de rollos rellenos y comida caliente también.

Habíamos venido a comer pasteles para una cena en nuestro bnb aire. Tal vez deberíamos haber venido más temprano en el día para una mejor selección y tal vez quedaron las tartas que quedaron, pero cuando las calentamos tenían poca "salsa" en el interior y parecía que había más pasta dura que carne en los platos. Teníamos muchas esperanzas para esta comida y nos quedamos con ganas.

We stopped here briefly on our tour of the Isle of Skye and all I can say is that is the best bacon and cheese wrap pastry I have ever tasted! Everything else was pretty amazing as well, would definitely recommend stopping here!

On s'est arrêtés dans cette boulangerie suite aux très bons avis sur TripAdvisor mais nous sommes repartis sans rien acheter. 2 vendeuses dans la boutique, milieu d'après midi, pas d'autres clients et en hors saison. Les vendeuses toutes les 2 sur leurs téléphones, elles ne se sont même pas levées quand nous étions en train de choisir et ont a peine dit bonjour. Dommage mais pas très agréable. Nous avons donc décidé d'aller ailleurs

I went in to just trap some coffee or a latte as the shop was near to an ATM I needed to use. However after seeing the baked goods, I couldn't leave without more. The service was great and everyone in the van loved the treats too. This is a must visit if you are in Portree.

We stopped there a couple during our visit to the Isle of Skye. Friendly staff and great selection. Lots of local there which is always a good sign.

We went to this bakery for lunch essentials a couple of times while visiting Portree. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is good and the prices are fair. It can be busy, but the staff are very efficient about serving everyone.

Nou nous sommes arrêtés ici pour le déjeuner ! Nous avons pris des petits sandwich fait sur demande et des petits feuilletés fromage fines herbes, fromage tomate et tomate bacon super bons !! Ainsi qu’un petit carrot cake hyper moelleux ! Nous nous sommes régalés sur le petit port de Portree !! Comme d’habitude en Ecosse nous sommes accueillis avec un grand sourire !! Je recommande ;)

We picked up some scones here on a late Saturday morning. Very disappointed - they seemed several days old and not fresh. One would have thought on a Saturday it would be better. Overheard some others say their bread was a little old as well.

Encontramos esta pequeña panadería mientras estábamos de vacaciones en Skye. Pedimos rollos de tocino y tocino y pasteles de morcilla. Ambos fueron increíbles y nos aseguramos de que volviéramos a visitarnos antes de irnos. Los pasteles también eran muy agradables y nos echaron a perder para elegir. El personal era encantador? Recomendaría este lugar y estoy destripado, está a 6 horas en coche o seríamos clientes habituales.

Everytime I'm in Portree I always drop by. Great Quality food with a good selection. At very low prices. All I would say is be there before the school is out for lunch as queuing might be an issue
