Macdui's in Highland

My daughter and I came here with 2 big huskys they allowed them to come in which was amazing the food was delicious we went there every day we were in aviemore for some food no matter what time the waiters were lovely and very welcoming

What a ripoff, 2 pints and 2 glasses of wine £29.30. Doesn’t make you want to return, would not recommend.

Dinner was delicious, and despite being warned it might take a while to get served due to staff shortages, we were served promptly and with very friendly service. The mushroom burger was very tasty, neither dry nor too watery, as often happens with this dish. Overall, a very good experience.

We came here after having a fab time last year. The pub food was great and so were the staff. However, a little disappointing upon our return. We ordered nachos, the flavour was lovely, but they hadn’t even heated it up enough for the cheese to melt! We had nachos last year and it was perfect! What’s happened?! The staff were nice and attentive, such a shame the food lets it all down. Hopefully it’ll return to what it used to be and get rid of the negative reviews, after all it’s not hard to heat up some nachos….

Popped in for a meal after a lovely day exploring the area. Was hoping for a hearty meal for the prices they charge. What arrived was more like a childs portion. It was luke warm at best and bland. It's so overpriced. Their coffee, however, was gorgeous and piping hot. It's also quite chilly within the restaurant. We left feeling disappointed.

Good service and friendly staff. However, my main meal arrived cold. I had the pumpkin ravioli. The cheesy garlic bread was frozen garlic bread put in the toaster. It was cold being sat next to the door with the door opening and closing. The people next to us were chatting to us and were visiting from the US and didn't think much of their mains either. £47 for lunch for two with one drink each. Expensive for what it is.

Friendly prompt service despite being busy. Having read the previous post about the gammon steak, I can report mine was fine. The nice aspect was 2 fried eggs which covered the gammon. The chips were crispy. The peas were probably tinned(?) which aren’t my favourite. The others had spaghetti bolognaise which was tasty. Pity the Theakston ciders available were both fruity variants. At least the Cairngorm Hotel bar serviced Theakston Original 😉

The service was fine, pleasant staff and drinks were delivered fast. The meal was terrible, we hadn't finished our starters when the main course was attempted to be delivered. The waitress apologized and returned it to the kitchen, where no doubt it sat under the hot plate until we were ready. My scampi tasted nice but unsure if the chips had been anywhere near the fryer. My husbands gammon was tough, the eggs were rock hard (perhaps from being under the hot lamps) and his chips not cooked, when the peas are the nicest part of your meal there is a problem. In the ladies toilet the seat was extremely loose and the lid fell down hitting me on my back then there was no way to dry my hands after washing them. One meal was taken off the bill, it was the worst meal we have ever had.

I was in aviemore with friends for thunder in the glens, we really struggled to find anywhere that offered a good range of food to satisfy everyone, the chicken balmoral however was what nailed it for the group as two of us were in the mood for it. I was one of those and tbh for me I felt it wasn’t that great and was quite disappointed with it, others in the group weren’t particularly enamoured with their food either. A bit of a mix up and being overcharged when it came time to pay the bill didn’t help overall most of the staff were lovely and friendly but one or two didn’t seem to have a clue

De twee dames die vanavond af en aan liepen, verdienen een betere keuken. De gerechten zijn okay maar niet meer dan dat. Aan de vette kant (veel komt uit de frituur) en vlak van smaak. Dat kan echt veel beter. Bediening is niet kapot te krijgen!

Popped in to Macdui’s for an evening meal with the family. Nice place and good atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Service was quick. Food: Macaroni and cheese - good Beef burger - good Kids fish and chips - very small but good taste. At £8.50, overpriced for what you get Chicken curry - bland with minimal taste. Nan bread was the same as those you get from the supermarket, dry. Lots of rice. Overall the food was ok but overpriced for what you got. Overall experience was average.

Ailsa was fantastic serving us. We thought they were closed but she welcomed us graciously and served the best pint I've ever had. Must go place in Aviemore.

Most restaurants in Aviemore are busy at this time of year. Macdui was also busy but staff made us welcome. We were told a table should be available soon and directed us to a table where we were served a drink and menu. We were seated soon afterwards and food arrived very promptly. The food was excellent. Not really sure why everyone is saying the food here is amazing. It’s below average at best and costs twice as much as it should. The staff were lovely and friendly but I wouldn’t recommend eating here. The only reason we did was everywhere else was full.
