Heilan Scran in Highland

Stopped here while visiting Eilean Donan. Food was really good. Other half said his fish was cooked perfectly, the girl who took our order was also very good about me being a picky vegetarian and asking for pulled pork loaded chips without the pulled pork... Thanks!

Precis vid entrén till Eilean Donan Castle hittar man ett café som serverar snabbmat på skotskt sätt. Beställ, betala och få ditt nummer utropat. Det här skulle kunna fungera om där fanns någonstans att sitta, men det gör det inte. Inga bord, inga stolar. Och nog skulle man behöva någon som rensar bland de otaliga menyerna, här finns hur mycket som helst att välja mellan och det tar sin tid. Donkens tidsstudieman skulle omedelbart få ett sammanbrott. Jag löste det genom att bara köpa en colaflaska för 2,50 £.

Did not expect such delicious food at the base of a castle. So happy to be wrong! The fish and chips, and the fried chicken thighs were both delicious. An excellent choice pre- or post- castle.

Great place to visit and the food at the Heilan scran. Would recommend to anyone to visit this area and to enjoy the great food at the Heilan Scran. Five stars for service and good value for your money.

Really great food and service. My husband had a Tootie McClootie (I think that's what it was called) a sweet cakey dumpling thing with egg and bacon.......shouldn't work but it did! I had the salmon and scambled egg bagel and couldn't believe how much salmon was in it......no pathetic portions here! 😀 Great value for money and friendly and fast service even though very busy.

We were going to eat in the coffee shop, but due to a lack of staff, it’s had to close, so we got fish & chips from here as a take away, but as the weather was awful, we were told we could take them inside to the coffee shop thankfully. There were three pieces of fish in a light batter with some very nice chips per portion for £11.50, and I must say, it was worth every penny. Big portions and the tartare sauce was lovely.

Don't bother unless you have an in with a member of staff... John I'm looking at you. Would look straight past a queue of people to serve people he knows. Unacceptable service.

We recently ordered 2 buttermilk chicken thighs and chips from here which came with paprika mayo which we took away. Priced at £8.95 each we thought this was good value seeing as though the food was hot and delicious and big portions. Lunch food only able to order that from 12pm onwards as before that is a breakfast menu.

Slow. Lento. Muito lento. Não vale a pena. Café de comida "rápida" mas demora uma eternidade para deitarem um filete de peixe (que toda a gente pede).

The castle has always been a place to visit but I'm thinking that this eatery will take over. Could have tried everything on the menu, so much great food on offer it was a difficult choice. Decided on the Tootie McClootie, it sounded so wrong, sweet fruit pudding, bacon and egg in a giant bap????? Absolutely delicious, if it wasn't so big I'd have another!!!! The guys and gals have a great working system and the food is served up nice and hot and quick despite the horrendous queues. Thoroughly recommended

As guests are a "captive audience" I hadn't expected much but I was wrong in making that assumption! The choice is very extensive. I ordered the haggis toastie - and there was another wrong assumption as it came with bacon and macaroni cheese (I thought they were the other options!!). The food was absolutely yummy, I'm just pleased I don't live nearby as I'd put on a dress size in a week. The coffee (I had a latte) was also excellent.

stopped here for lunch and to view the castle on our route to the isle of skye. I had the salmon salad, which was amazing, highly recommend. And very good shortbread too.

Restaurant quality food in a take-away box - freshly prepared, friendly service, beautiful surroundings. Recommended!

Great Food and even better views. Menu is varied and something a bit different, food is freshly prepared and very tasty, with large portion sizes, so balances the slightly higher prices, plus you can tell its fresh local produce used so that makes a tasty difference. Chips are amazing, good veggie options, again something different.

A bit of a chaotic take-away situation at the moment with Covid-19, but the staff were doing the best they could, and the food we got was lovely! My partner and I both had the MacHaggis toastie (bacon, haggis and macaroni cheese in a toastie!) plus two hot drinks and some shortbread to take with us. Considering the number of people around and the queue, we were served and got our food pretty quickly, and it was really nice. A good pit-stop at Eilean Donan Castle or on the way to/back from Skye!

Went for breakfast at 10.30am and it was already quite busy Ordered 4 breakfast rolls, 3 of which were with hash browns and a ‘Ben Nevis’ roll. Was then told we couldn’t have the rolls with hash browns as they only had limited numbers of them and they were saving them for the Ben Nevis rolls. Reluctantly changed our breakfast roll orders. Drinks were served quickly but we then waited for 30 minutes for our food. When that finally arrived, the Ben Nevis roll had no hash brown (which they were supposedly being saved for) and our drinks were, unsurprisingly, cold. I therefore asked for a refund which was given without argument. This takeaway has enormous potential but the staff certainly need to sort out how to deal with busy times and a flow of orders.

We visited during Covid so only takeaway was available. Food was absolutely delicious - we had the buttermilk fried chicken and grilled beef brisket. All was perfect, with a superb potato salad, fabulous homemade chips and sauces on the side. We devoured this on some picnic tables overlooking the Eileen Donna castle as the evening drew in. Would thoroughly recommend a visit here.

I struggle to find tasty vegan food with imagination locally. The vegan chilli with sweetcorn accompaniment and beetroot tortillas was one of the most delicious meals I've had in a long time. I would highly recommend and will definitely be reordering this again soon.

A really good burger with lovely castle views. Decent service; though cleaning up of outdoor tables could be better.
