Great place to wait for your train with a drink and food. We only had drinks as we had eaten. Right in the station with comfy chairs and a relaxed atmosphere.

Nice cozy pub at the rail station. Nice place to sit for a pint, get warm and watch the football before jumping on your train. Always come here before catching my train. Prices are what you expect from a pub at the railway station in the middle of a town. However, nice to sit by the fire and relax before a long journey, well recommend 👍👍👍

Says it's a bar and kitchen but doesn't serve food so it's actually a bar despite its very misleading name. A renaming would be the way to go or at least put up signs

What a great bar, in between trains on way home and decided to pop in for a couple of pints. Lovely fresh and airy pub. Lady behind bar was such a welcoming person, had a wee laugh while I ordered a pint, and have to say, it was one of the best pints I’ve had in a pub in a long time, cold crisp and tasty. Highly recommend you pop in if your in the vicinity of Inverness railway station.

My husband and I enjoyed our pints of cider, but the two women bartenders treated me like I was an alien leaking puss all over the counter when I went up to order. I asked for a pint of cider and a half pint of cider, they both just looked at me like I was speaking Chinese and made me feel like I was an idiot. Not a great experience, but the ciders were delicious.

Visited here but didn’t have time to have lunch so ordered soup to takeaway for taking on the train. The place itself is well lit, clean and very ambient. Had a read through the menu whilst waiting and was surprised to find that the prices are average (not the usual overcharge alike other train stations/airports). I ordered the lentil soup and was surprised to find a lovely fresh warm bread roll inside the bag I was given with the cutlery etc. The soup was delicious, very wholesome and flavoured and the warm roll was a nice treat too. Good value for money and not overpriced. Would definitely visit here again

This bar is attached to Inverness Station, and we arrived at around 6 o'clock to kill some time before catching the sleeper train which was due to board at 7 o'clock. We had already eaten, so ordered some drinks. As our boarding time approached, more people came in with the same intention (it was a cold night at the end of October). Our train was delayed by two hours, and the place soon filled up as there was no-where else to go in the station. The lovely ladies behind the counter looked after us really well, and brought activities round to keep the children entertained. They were due to close at 9pm, but phoned for permission to stay open as there were several young children in who would have got very cold on the exposed platforms. I can't thank the staff enough.

Waited nearly 5 minutes at the bar waiting to get served. Barmaid had her back to me and when she finally turned round, she went straight to a man who had just appeared to my right! Claimed not to have seen me when I said I was first! I ordered fish and chips and a white zinfandel (a well known ROSE wine). Barmaid said they had none, only pinot grigio?! No idea why she thought that was a suitable substitute for a sweet rose until she said she had a zinfandel rose! She clearly has no idea what she's selling as she thinks white zinfandel is white wine! She then tried to correct me saying white zinfandel is a white wine. Bad manners, bad customer service and poor product knowledge. The peas were hard, the fish was greasy and the meal looked a lot better than it tasted. Didn't even finish half of it. The only saving grace here is that the pub is right in the train station.

We had quite a bit of time to kill while waiting for the all-clear to board our train to Edinburgh. That was on me; I didn't know how busy the station would be, or how long it'd take us to walk from our hotel, so we left too early.I had initially thought we'd have to make a dinner out of crisps and soda from the WH Smith inside the station, as our First Class train tickets didn't include a meal, and it looked like all the restaurants inside the station were closed. But, we did a quick door check (if it opens, they're open!) at Ness & Thistle, and were happy to find the door opened. We got a table near the windows, where we could keep an eye on the departures board. There were two women working the bar that night, and one came out with menus and water. I really hate that I didn't get her name, because she was so fantastic. At any rate, I wasn't starving, but as our train stopped in Edinburgh after midnight, I knew I would need some kind of sustenance. After reviewing the menu, I picked the Mac n Cheese meal. I thought it sounded like a good, small meal. My husband chose the Battered Fish & Chips.I had a chance to take in the surroundings as we waited for our food. The interior is a lot...fancier...than I'd expected, given it's inside a train station. There are a few comfy looking overstuffed benches, as well as an inviting bar area. They allow enough space for luggage between tables, which is key for an establishment like this. The bathroom was nice and clean, as well. So, remember how I ordered the Mac n Cheese because I thought it'd be a small meal? Nope! I had to laugh when our sweet waitress brought our meals to the table. The mac was smothered in ooey, gooey cheese, and served with a side of chips and garlic bread. I barely made a dent in the mac! My husband tried to help out, but we never even got through half of the meal. I felt like such a wasteful person because I couldn't take it with me (4 hours on a train and into a hotel room with an uncertain fridge status). Still, the mac was very tasty. The cheese oozed, which I loved, and there was an extra zip to the sauce that spiced it up so that it was more than just a regular cheese sauce. My husband finished most of his meal, but I think he hit his "fried food threshold" about halfway through. The fish was expertly fried, and it came with chips (duh) and peas. He did finish off the fish and most of the peas but left a large pile of chips on his plate. He said it was some of the best fried fish he's had.We were pleasantly surprised by the meal, and by the service. And, before we left, we were shocked at how busy they got so late at night. There were four different parties posted up at the tables and benches by the time we left, all of them looking like they were ready to party.

Train was cancelled and a two hour wait for the next one, so decided to have a pint in the station bar. Was surprised to see how modern and clean it was, as Scottish station pubs are usually grotty. Had a bit of banter with the staff over my Tufty Club t-shirt, and decided to order food. Went for the all day breakfast. Food was good quality and would have got 5 stars had there been a link sausage instead of Lorne. Plenty of chips and beans though. Very tasty. Good pint of Stella as well. All in, the prices were reasonable to, so will make this a place for me to stop next time I need to catch a train.

I had a meeting in Inverness and had hoped to try somewhere a wee bit more fancypants but the beautiful fickle scottish weather put paid to that.So I was a wee bit despondent when I walked in here thinking of just sit it out till my train would be able to leave. The staff really warmed me up as soon as i walked in and the food was an added bonus. I wish I'd taken a pic of the steak pie I'd had. It was great, with mash and peas. With a lemonade it came to £10:20. Excellent value and left fully fed. I can't remember but I think the steak pie was from a local butcher. The gravy to steak filling just perfect.I had a plug close to my table so it was easy to charge up my phone while I waited. The toilets are really clean and look like new.All in all I am really glad the weather drove me here. Added bonus is that it is right inside the train station so not far to go.

Both were excellent, good quality and good coffee. Nice premises, with interesting local pictures and info. There aren't many options for quick hot food at Inverness station apart from Costa next door which would have been a microwaved prepacked bacon butty.
