Self check-in and big room with en-suite and a handy microwave. Not many places to eat out nearby however Co-op across the road so microwave meal from there did the job. No breakfast provided and nearby bakery not open until 9am, however Co-op also do fresh coffee and pastries. A lot of traffic noise from outside so harder to sleep. I was also next to a fire exit which other guests kept using to go outside and chat loudly on their phones, also making it hard to sleep. Good sized room and definitely good having the Co-op across the road but i wouldn’t recommend due to the noise. Also very limited parking unless you’re early

Have been here for lunch previously and when we were looking for a venue for a lunch for a large group decided to go here. There was a special pre Christmas menu with lots of choice and at a very reasonable price. The staff were excellent and service very smooth and efficient. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Durch Zufall sind wir zum Dinner im Ord House gelandet. Ohne die Schilder zu Beginn der holprigen Straße hätte man es sicher nie gefunden - was sich aber ändern müsste. Denn der Besuch war wundervoll. Das alte Gutshaus liegt wie in einem Märchen verankert und strotzt nur so vor Charme. Sicher könnte das eine oder andere renoviert werden, aber es war überall (Bar, WCs, Empfangshalle usw, Diningroom) blitzsauber und in jedem Winkel kann man alte Schätzchen finden. Das Personal ist ausnehmend freundlich und zuvorkommend, gern auch mal um 1-2 Sätze mehr zum plaudern aufgelegt als nur das Nötigste. Das Essen war wirklich grundsolide und ausgenommen schmackhaft und dazu mit einem super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis versehen. Wir haben uns fantastisch gefühlt und jeden Moment genossen. Wir waren nicht das letze Mal hier und empfehlen das Restaurant/Hotel uneingeschränkt weiter!

Eh oui, depuis la route A 832, il est plus judicieux de suivre les panneaux qu'un GPS (je me suis retrouvé dans la cour d'une ferme :;-) Les dernières centaines de mètres se font en empruntant un chemin en sous-bois (bien boueux en cas de pluie ::-/ ) et le parking est fortement gravillonné (ce n'est pas du tout pratique à moto !). Par contre, une fois la porte franchie, accueil cordial (malgré ma tenue de pluie et mes bottes humides ::-) Salle à manger au 1er étage, sobre sans être austère. Dans l'assiette de ma compagne : - pâté de maquereau fumé (8,25 £) : texture surprenante (molle) mais, finalement, très bon goût, - entrecôte d'Angus Aberdeen (18,50 £) + sauce bleu (2,50 £) : cuisson demandée - saignant - respectée. La vinaigrette de la salade était trop acide (trop vinaigrée). Dans la mienne : - croquettes ("fishcakes") de saumon (8,50 £) : très bon et sauce - vraiment maison - fabuleuse (un mix de tartare - ciboulette - et de béarnaise - morceaux d'échalote). J'ai transmis mes compliments à la cuisine ! - "Ord House Steak and Ale Pie" : présentation originale avec un ramequin contenant la viande et sa sauce, recouvertes de la pâte. Légumes (brocolis, pois mange-tout) à la cuisson ("al dente"/croquants) extra ! Par contre, si les frites étaient taillées à la française (donc pas trop épaisses) elles étaient trop salées (je l'ai signalé). - crème brûlée (5,75 £) en dessert (je dois dire que la carte des desserts ne m'a guère inspiré) : classique. Vin au verre : Shiraz (5,50 £ / 175 ml). Cidre Thistly Cross Elderflower (3,60 £, en bouteille) : la fleur de sureau se sent bien. Service à la hauteur de tous les serveur/ses (l'une est française, ce qui va ravir les francophones perplexes devant la carte !). Les prix sont certes élevés - ça a peut-être été le montant le plus élevé de nos 2 semaines en Ecosse - mais ils sont pleinement justifiés par la qualité des mets et du service !

Das Hotel / Restaurant war nicht so ganz einfach zu finden, man hätte nicht vermutet, daß am Ende dieses holprigen Weges ein Kleinod versteckt ist. Die Servicekräfte waren super freundlich und bemüht, sogar deutsch wurde gesprochen. Man kam sich vor, als wäre man Lord und Lady im vorigen Jahrhundert. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und die Preise für hießige Verhältnisse günstig. Ein toller abschließender Abend für unseren Schottlandbesuch.

On a cold rainy May evening we dined at the Ord House. We were greeted warmly by the staff and enjoyed the bar area, complete with a fireplace and Labrador Retriever, while we waited for our dinner to be prepared. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, the salad greens, bread and potatoes were delicious. After dinner we strolled through the Tolkien-like garden complete with trees and boulders dripping with moss and flowers springing from every nook. Don’t miss a chance to dine in this unique restaurant!

Excellent service and delicious food. Had the smoked salmon, superb. Potted shrimps were very good. Venison crumble with leeks and bacon was also very good as was the stalkers pie. All cooked by Eliza. Ice creams were homemade and excellent, sea salt caramel and banana, raspberry ripple and lemon meringue.

The restaurant is on the first floor of the hotel and is a very tired room with a poor range of mismatched tables and chairs linked to a second room with visible clutter. Service is by a food lift and waiters waitresses who work hard but are poorly trained. Claims to be fine dining but the tables are stained, the cutlery was set incorrectly, the menu is poor and the food was served terribly. Plates some are chipped and servings are not laid out properly on the plates I've had much better food in pubs let alone some medium priced normal restaurants. Pork belly was poor, lamb was o but tough considering time of year and no decent jus. vegetables were poor. The STP did pass muster but eating in this room was not a pleasant experience from a food or setting point of view.

De ontvangst was heel persoonlijk, we hebben eerst beneden in de suite even wat gedronken tot de tafel klaar was. Daarna boven in de eetkamer gegeten. Voortreffelijke keuken, met liefde bereid. Personeel kan mooi vertellen over de geschiedenis van het huis. Alle gerechten waren vers bereid en van hoge kwaliteit. De deep fried Stilton is een aanrader! Nette wijnen erbij gedronken.

El lugar es en la necesidad de algunos TLC en serio, pero los anfitriones son encantadores y muy amables también... la comida era muy buena, especialmente el filete. Buena selección de vinos y un bar bien equipado con sus whiskies. Los jardines de los alrededores son impresionantes y muy tranquilo. Una propiedad encantadora con mucho potencial!

Posto datato, ma incantevole anche se un po' defilato e la strada per raggiungerlo è abbastanza dissestata. La cucina chiude alle 20:30, per cui è meglio arrivare per tempo. Il personale molto gentile e cordiale, la stanza del ristorante piccola e raccolta e l'atmosfera è molto calda. Trovo però che il prezzo pagato sia stato un po' eccessivo: una vellutata, un antipasto, un petto di pollo e un dolce per quasi £ 40,00.

We arrived quite late for a meal (8.35) In fact the chef had closed the kitchen - he was more than happy to open it up again for the four of us and not even a reduced menu! Apologies were quickly given for the delay in service due to having to switch everything back on. When the food arrived, it was delicious and piping hot. The staff were fabulous, very helpful and welcoming. Will definitely go back when we are in the area

The meals are individually prepared and are superb and the menu choice is excellent. You can eat them in the cosy bar with log burner or in the restauarant. Would particularly recommend the steaks or duck!!!!

Ord House is different. I originally stayed here as a small boy with my mother and then returned again just before I was married a good many years ago. I was interested to see how it had changed.It is like a thrown back in time. To get to the hotel you have to go up a drive which is approximately half a mile long. You will pass the local whiskey distillery on the way (drop in for the guided tours, it is well worth it). The house itself is very old. Above the doorway the date is from the 1650's (really should have made a note of exact date). You open the front door into a large living room, full of chairs, books and newspapers to read. The reception area is hidden away just above a small set of stairs. Our bedroom was large and decorated in an old fashioned country house style. Not to everyone's taste but somehow seems to fit in with the rest of the building (although some of you might wonder who matched the curtains and the wallpaper). If you insist on a television in your room you won't want to stay here. If you love the idea of getting away from it all then you will want to stay here. BTW - they do have excellent Wifi so if you really cannot get away from gadgets then you can always play on your tablet.Downstairs again and the bar is small but very comfortable, just the kind of place to visit after a long walk or fishing. Further along is a living room which looks out onto a croquet lawn.We ate in the dinning room (calling it a restaurant is probably stretching it). The food was good home cooking and pleasant and the staff are really friendly.Had it changed? No not really and that is its charm. It is clean and our room, had been redecorated with new carpets. But it is like stepping back in time. Some people will love it because of that, others will not.

Small, pub-like restaurant in the hotel. Good menu selection and also daily specials. Portions are very generous. Our meals were delicious and beautifully presented. There was one young lady looking after everyone and she was extremely polite and efficient. Highly recommend. We were pleasantly surprised. Excellent value.

We dropped in around mid-day to a quiet attractive country house, asked if bar meals were available, and were shown through what seemed to be lengthy passages lined with hunting meorabilia to a small bar area. No draught beer being available I asked for a can of lager which was duly served.The taste was not what was expected and on ordering again I simply asked for a can to pour it out myself. As suspected it was outdated and the date on the base of the can was NOVEMBER 2011 The menu was a single sheet of paper duly used and stained. My attention was drawn to The home made battered fish and chips at £11.95, much above comparative prices elsewhere in an area well known for fresh haddock. The acutual order comprised a rather dessicated. piece of rozen fish and an equally obviously portion of frozen minichips Only after I had settled I brought these matters to the very polite new watress who had been there only two weeks.and in fairness she offered refunds which were not accepted by me, my intention not being to obtain a cheap meal..My wife`s wine and salad were good but no wow factor as they say.I spoke later to the owner who apologised but did not seem to have any hands on knowledge of the matters complained about.. A funny experience on the whole and like most other places around could be improved greatly with a little bit of tweaking from the top

Good stopover. Truthfully I only popped in for a quick refuel whilst en route to the north north of Scotland. I had the veggie quiche. I mean it was fine, nothing amazing. Perfectly adequate, just. Perhaps I wasn't there long enough, or I picked the wrong dish, but I'm not ready to hand out a five star review just yet. More testing is required.
