Poor before we had even eaten. Taking my Mum to enjoy Beef Wellington, her favourite dish, I phoned ahead a few times to ensure one was available. Just before I arrived at the restaurant, they confirmed it was available. We sat down in an empty restaurant, rather inefficient staff. We were told there was no Beef Wellington, so I pointed out that one was put by. Then we were told they could make one, and it would take 40 mins, to which we said would that be 40 minutes or could it be longer ? On visiting the toilet I heard the chef say ‘if they wanted one, it might take 45 minutes’. Nobody wants to be considered a nuisance in a restaurant, so we decided to take our custom elsewhere. Having travelled all the way from Hampstead to enjoy Beef Wellington, my Mum’s favourite dish, we left & ate elsewhere. Sadly not beef Wellington.

After dining here on a Friday evening I felt it necessary to leave a review. My Girlfriend and I had an amazing time at this restaurant, and we will definitely return soon! I wanted to specifically commend your team for their fantastic work - Giuseppe was our server, and he truly went above and beyond to make our visit great. Additionally, Monty, the general manager, showed us around and gave us a bit of history and insider knowledge about the place. Overall, we had a fantastic time and appreciate the hard work and dedication of your team. We will gladly recommend your establishment to our friends and family.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday - for their Saturday bottomless drinks brunch. I chose it because it was one of the few places that does a non-Prosecco based brunch (bf doesn’t like it). Worth noting I booked it at £65pp and in person it was £70pp. The food was great, we loved everything. Me being a veggie I had lots of choice, whilst my boyfriend could enjoy a perfectly cooked entrecôte. The pink spritz, of which we had 4 each, was delicious (and our waiter was kind enough to let us go beyond the bottomless 90 mins). After our meal, they brought out a sparkler and a bite of chocolate cake with Happy Birthday on, which was a nice touch. Atmosphere was great although it was quite quiet at first (we arrived at opening time - 12) and the promised DJ wasn’t playing (I assume because of this) so might have preferred later in the day.

We had a fantastic time at the Easter Pooch Party. Elena, the supervisor looked after our table. Her service and attention to detail were impeccable. She had such a personable yet professional manner which really added to our already enjoyable experience. It is rare to receive such great service in London, but Elena and M restaurant know how to make their diners feel welcome, happy and looked after. Thank you. We will definitely be back!

Just purchased 3 macarons on my lunch break and one of the female staff was very weird and unusual in guarding the macarons as if I was about to rob the place. Created such a weird atmosphere as if I'm about to commit a crime - because of this I will never come back here again. Weird group of people. Just wanted to buy some macarons love, not rob a bank. Disgusting customer service.

I had long wanted to go to the Ritz restaurant in London, and was happy to finally make it in early February (a previous booking fell foul of pandemic related restrictions). The 5 course menu at GBP193 includes 2 starters, two mains and a dessert. I substituted the rhubarb dessert by another one. The crab and langoustine starters were excellent, the Cornish turbot as well, and the roe deer main very good as well. The substitute dessert was the (signature) Ritz chocolate souffle, and my god it was sinfully good (on a par with a souffle in 3 star Schwarzwaldstube in Germany in 2021). I had a pleasant bottle of English white wine from Southern England, and the sommelier was right to point out it drank easily. I had pleasant chats with the Italian waiters, the sommelier and restaurant manager, The final Grappa was excellent too. I have to return with my wife and daughter.....

We were looking forward to dining at Gauthier Soho, but the experience fell short of expectations. While the restaurant is known for its vegan fine dining, the food lacked creativity and depth. The flavors were mostly uninspiring, and the set menu format made the evening feel mechanical rather than special—more like a production line than an intimate dining experience. Nothing stood out as refined, joyful, or memorable. Beyond the food, the service and ambiance were underwhelming. The welcome at the entrance was indifferent—no warmth or personal touch—and retrieving our coats at the end was chaotic. The setting itself also needs an upgrade: the ground-floor carpet was worn and dirty, the dining chairs’ upholstery looked dated, the dinnerware was surprisingly basic, and even the toilets could have been cleaner. There was nothing elegant or sophisticated about the overall experience. We also did not see Chef Alexis Gauthier that night, and perhaps that absence was reflected in the lack of personal or creative flair. That being said, we fully support the restaurant’s vegan vision and appreciate efforts to bring plant-based fine dining to a wider audience. However, there are many better options in London—both in terms of quality and price. We paid £300 for two people, and that didn’t even include a drink pairing. At this price point, we expected a far more refined and memorable experience. To top it off, we were surprised to receive a note with the bill encouraging us to write a review immediately in exchange for a “gift” from the restaurant. This felt very transactional—as if we were being nudged to say something positive for a reward. It left us with the impression of a business mindset rather than a place truly focused on hospitality and guest experience. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t recommend Gauthier Soho, as it neither delivered on culinary innovation nor provided a setting worthy of its reputation. Finally, the presentation by the owner on Google is truly misleading (we found out after our dinner): "Having earned a star within a year of opening Gauthier Soho, Alexis Gauthier is described by Zagat guide as "...one of the Best New French food destinations in London...". The fact is that Gauthier Soho earned its first Michelin star in 2011 but LOST it in 2013. Currently, the restaurant does NOT hold a star in the Michelin guide.

Classic French food. Great value, great taste. Three of us had the 3-course theater menu each. Particularly liked the mushroom soup, beef bourguignon, chocolate tart, and crème brûlée. The salmon app and sourdough bread were just ok. Ambiance was gorgeous with perfect warm lighting, just the right amount of noise, and elegant interior design. Chairs/seating is a bit tight for larger people. Staff were attentive, friendly, and hard working. Packed on a Monday night so make a reservation. We’ll be back.
