Having been a regular customer of the garden centre and tea rooms over a number of years I was shocked that you have significantly put your prices up since my last visit. Your previously homemade cakes are no more and today they were dry and unappealing. I will not be returning in the future.

Now ,that was terrible, that breakfast not only was expensive but it knocked us down for the weekend even the dogs throw up after we gave them the almost full uneaten breakfast .the whole thing was a Bain Marie remaining from earlier morning nothing freshly cooked from the soggy hash brown to the overcooked 2 hours prior bacon. And what a disappointment is the fact that nobody came to check on us or asked if everything was ok ,not a good service.its a shame cause the shop and the garden centre are really good and the sausage rolls are mint

This place has been recommended to me a dozen times by friends but frankly, my first visit left me disappointed and underwhelmed. I was expecting much more from my ham toastie with a trio of cheese. Thankfully, a side of salt & pepper wedges meant I wasn’t too disappointed however I wouldn’t be in a rush to return and next time would probably focus on a visit only for coffee and cakes.

We were greeted by a lovely lady called Becky, we were taken to our table, where we were given time to chose our drinks, we ordered and they were promptly bought to us, we ordered our food, (pork sunday dinner(adults) beef sunday dinner(childs) pastrami, monetary jack cheese and sauerkraut hot sandwich amd the cheese and onion pie, everything came out and it was piping hot, our server Becky was just lovely and polite, nothing was too much for her, the food was absolutely beautiful, fresh hot and homemade(which is a huge plus for us) we will definitely be back!!!! Its perfect, local and the prices are spot on!!!!

They call it a tea room but it’s so much more. We were served by the delightful Rachael who took time to explain our choices even making suggestions for side dishes. Just returning from Baltimore USA I I opted for the Philly Cheesesteak Ciabatta so I could relive my holiday to the East coast of America. It was better than anything I ve had stateside . The real fir Christmas tree is fully dressed and a masterpiece Gemma who’s put a lot of love into it . It wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to my restaurant of choice at Lymefield. Merry Christmas to you all and I look forward to a wonderful 2024 with many visits to my favourite eatery.

Arrived for the first sitting for breakfast on Father’s Day . The staff were all smiles at the door . Gemma pointed to Yvonne who was waiting to show us to our table. They make you feel like VIP’s here. The girls took our order then Rebecca was waiting on. She’s a new face to me but she’s learned from the best and everything was spot on especially the food. Truly there’s nothing not to like at Lyme field. When I booked I was told they would need the table back after 1.5hrs which didn’t seem like a problem but it’s such a relaxing place we didn’t want to go home . Nobody hassled us and eventually we said our goodbyes to the staff. It was my brothers first time and he loved it. After visiting the farm shop and garden centre we reluctantly went home. Lyme field are consistently good, and front of field in a crowded hospitality market. Best in the business . I take my hat off to them.

well where to start, when breakfast arrived well what a let down. Bacon was dried out obviously been sitting for a while, edges of black pudding and hash browns dried and hard, tomato burnt round edges, mushroom not very nice, beans ok, sausage was probably best bit , egg ok. One slice toast cut into two, with only one small butter pat not enough for both slices, The cost of small breakfast was 9.45 yet if you paid 10.95 you could have doubled up . To be honest im glad i didnt, also they put toast on main plate too so it looks more on plate than actually is . I was with my hubby, daughter and 9 yr old grandson so i didnt complain just ate what i could. I think by amount left on plate they had an idea my hubby also left quite a lot. Shame i couldnt give a more positive review but i believe in honesty.

We called in at. Lymefield Garden Centre at Broadbottom. For a cake and drinks. We had to que to get a table for about 15 minutes, which was not a problem. The team was extremely busy. We had not been before, so I asked a member of the team if we ordered at the counter. She said it was table service. We ordered Drinks Scone jam and cream.two cakes for mlour daughter I ordered a soup and a turkey sandwich. I was asked if I would like whit or brown bread? I replied brown. The drinks came followed shortly after by the cakes. I was waiting so long for the soup and sandwich I asked.I was informed they had forgotten, and it would be with me shortly when it arrived. The brown bread was white, but the food was amazingly good. When I went to pay, I mentioned it, and I did not pay for the drinks. I felt the team was under so much pressure, and it was not good. Food excellent service was iffy, hence the 3 stars. Dickie 😀

We knew it would be busy at Lymefield garden centre as they were serving Christmas lunch. Two drop ins were just being turned away at the entrance with very long faces because they forgot to book. (Rookie mistake) our table was waiting for us and we were greeted by the smiling face of Gemma who served us. Now I believe good service is second only to the food in the enjoyment of a meal. Every detail was perfect and I know about these things. At times it seemed a long wait to place our order, ask for something or enquire about the menu but I only had to look up and she was there. It’s not like the staff were nt busy as there was a table of 23 they were looking after. Little touches like being asked what kind of glass we wanted with our drinks is something of a bygone age. You d have to dine at the Ritz to get better service. At one point she was busy with the long table and I thought uh! She’s took her eye off the ball but Yvonne her team mate turned up as if to read my mind with my bowl of steaming rice pudding with winter fruits. Perfect for the coldest day of the year so far. Team work makes the dream work at Lymefield. It was a dream there yesterday. It’s in the most glorious setting . Surrounded by frosted fields the view was like the Christmas cards I d written that morning. My final word must go to the shop. The produce is farm fresh and I am particularly satisfied with the local Alma Bridge honey I purchased . It’s the finest I ve tasted. The clientele are mostly of retirement age as you d expect in the middle of the working week. I don t consider myself old but I am old school and Lymefield is the perfect way to get the seasonal celebrations started.

Used to really love this place but I was very disappointed the last time we went. My Caesar salad (£10.95) was some soggy old leaves soaked in dressing, quite a lot of bits of bacon and a small amount of dry, hard chicken which looked like it had been microwaved for too long. No croutons or Parmesan. Would get better quality from a supermarket! My aunt had her favourite fish plater which is half the size that it used to be. No where near the fab selection of cakes they used to have. Makes me sad as we used to love it. Won’t be rushing back ☹️

Went to Lymefield Tea rooms with three friends today for afternoon tea. The food was lovely and could not be faulted. The staff were good too but I have never had an afternoon tea where you are only allowed one cup of tea and any more you have to pay for it. We paid an extra £6.50 for three more teas which actually doesn’t work out! We were very disappointed. I would have thought for £16.95 per head we could have had unlimited tea. We will not be going again. BEWARE only one cup of tea per person!! Not good value at all when you work it out AND we were not warned that it only included one cup of tea per person. We only found out when we came to pay the balance.

Family members treated us to a visit to Lymefield Garden Centre and we are very glad they did. We might not have known about it otherwise. A group of us (9 in all) collected there for brunch. The restaurant staff could not have been more helpful, trying to make sure that we could all sit together and making things comfortable for one wheelchair user and a child of 3 yrs. The Manager, Yvonne, and her staff served a superb and substantial breakfast, hot and fresh and at a very reasonable price given the quality. We then had an opportunity to explore the garden centre and shop. Both were interesting, well-displayed and well-managed. We came from Wicklow to visit family in Manchester. We'd definitely go the Centre again and would recommend it to others.

Is it harsh/unreasonable to score a place - which serves great food - ''Poor" because of the abyssmal state of the toilets? Yes (see below)OK; the food is very good. The staff are professional and helpful. On our visit with friends the range of menu and special dishes catered to all tastes - a Chicken Ballotine; Pork Goulash; Lymefield Platter and Soup (French Onion) and egg mayo sandwich. But the toilets are a disgrace - despite the evidence of investment in the restaurant and farm shop this year; nothing has been spent on the loos! There are two and both are gender neutral (male and female), accessible and host baby change. But, they were filthy, the flush in one of them didn't didn't work - and when this was pointed out to staff they didn't appear to care less. The issue here is extremely poor hygene/standards for anyone wishing to change nappies; a wheelchair user; or anyone with a bowel condition (IBS; UC; Cancer etc) So; despite the undisputed quality of the food - a low score. The owners at Lymefield need to get their act together - I have used toilets in many third world countries that were of a far better standard thatn these.

Having been a loyal and happy customer for many years, today after giving them the benefit of doubt from previous bad experiences - decided to give them another try. It is with regret that I have to write this review to a friendly family business that having grown so big over the years seem to have lost sight of the one thing that has enabled them to be where they are - its customer. Previous experiences related to the butcher, not once but twice not having the telephone order placed days earlier and so when collecting, not being ready. Today, the tearoom. Having to wait 10 minutes is now common place and not an issue for us. However, once sat down and order placed it took another 10 minutes to be informed that not only my order that was shown on the specials board not available but my wife's order, a different special was also not available. What was once a great place to shop and eat, you coud argue a great half day out is now sadly losing its way. Finally, for fair balance, once the food arrived it was just OK.

We had lunch at Lymefield. We have visited a few times before and it has always been pleasant. As the restaurant was busy, we were told there was a 25-minute wait on the table, we were happy to wait and looked around the plants and gifts, we were called for our table a little earlier than expected. We promptly ordered food and drinks, and the drinks were bought to our table quickly. We waited quite a while for our food, but suspected this was because they were so busy, but my husband asked at the counter on the wait when groups that arrived after us had begun receiving food. The chap at the counter, who we assume was a manager or owner, was very apologetic about our wait and could've not handled it better, it seemed to be a small miscommunication between the order and the kitchen, which we were assured they would look in to. Once they were aware our food was bought to us within minutes. The food was delicious, I had the sausage and mash and my husband had the sausage cassoulet, both of which we highly recommend. We ordered pudding, waffles, and a hot chocolate which was bought to us very quickly.

Although there are huge alterations happening at the moment and being a very busy Sunday, we had a lovely relaxed lunch. We were told about 20 mins for a table but they would find us if any sooner, as good as their word we were shown to our table within 10 mins.Wonderfully quick and pleasant service and food was really lovely. We had toasties and separate wedges and a jacket with beans and lots of side extras on all.Hot chocolate with cream and marshmallow for 2 and a crisp white wine completed the meal.Definitely will return to try more reasonably priced food .

February is too early for picking up items for the garden, but lunching is great. Plenty of choice from sandwiches to a ploughman’s, plus specials on the boards. Smaller choice of sweet or starter, but no complaints from us. The staff are great. Definately book a table, very popular.

Visited Lymefield for a Christmas lunch, sadly the turkey dinner was tasteless, the pigs in a blanket looked a little under cooked, the smoked salmon starter was just ok, don't think I would of served it with sliced onions. I did not have the homemade Christmas pudding, which was an old family recipe,it did not resemble a Christmas pudding more like a pale Christmas cake which was lacking cherries and it was a bit rubbery. Probably because it was heated in the microwave. Then our friend wanted a Irish coffee,it was painful watching the waitress trying to make it,after the third attempt she brought it over but it was dreadful. We weren't charged for it. I won't be rushing back.

Fancied a change from our regular usual weekend eatery in Glossop. We eat out at least three times most weeks. So drove to this cafe. Was shown where to sit, sat down and waited to be served.

I live within walking distance and have been to Lymefield many times. We often take friends and family there; we have a couple of friends who insist on Sunday breakfast there every time they stay with us! The full English is really lovely. There is also a great selection of salads, jackets and cooked meals. The tearoom is in a lovely setting and is very popular so does get busy. I went with my Mom a couple of weeks ago on a Monday lunchtime and there was a 20 minute wait. There is a beautiful farm shop and garden centre to browse round while you're waiting though so it's not a huge problem. I love this place and I feel so lucky to have it right on my doorstep.

We had a lovely family time together. Good food and service.....but, although it was cool outside, the sun was shining through the large windows, blinding some of our guests and spoilt an otherwise perfect experience. Wiindow blinds are definitely needed, year-round.

Great little place to stop for afternoon tea. Fantastic selection of cake as well as home cooked hot food. Lovely little garden centre to walk around and a hidden gem of a deli with a fab cheese selection & a locally sourced fresh meats counter. Worth a trip if passing through the area.

My go to for breakfast when I’m in Shaw. Lovely, friendly staff, good coffee and a great range of breakfast options. From a full English to great breakfast sandwiches at a good price. They also do locally made muffins and to die for cream cakes. Well worth a visit.

My husband and myself went for a birthday drink today, deliberately after 2pm in order to avoid the lunchtime dining rush. On arrival we were told that, if we weren't dining, we would have to sit at the 'high tables' in the middle of the room even though there were plenty of other tables available. I am 5'2" and have always struggled to get onto those ridiculously high stools so we decided to leave and go elsewhere, where we were welcomed and allowed to sit where we wished. Incidentally, it is my husband's 75th birthday and we are both pensioners. It was embarrassing and a shocking way to treat customers.
