It's been a while since I have dined here, but as good as ever. I opted for the Montgomery Cheddar Fritters paired with the Mussels, Pancetta, and Braised Leeks on Fried Toast. Might sound bizarre, but absolutely great. I was a bit concerned by the description of the dessert, "Choux Bun, Rhubard Cream and Cold Custard". I need not have worried, it was what the late, great, Michael Winner would describe as, "Historic". Finished off by a fine double Cortado. Don't worry about the rumbling Trains, a girder from the Bridge literally runs across a corner of the upstairs Restaurant... Hayling Seagoon

The pork belly with polenta was an unexpected (spicy) surprise! The flavor was all over the place, I could feel each ingredient individually and it felt like my mother’s polenta. On a birthday weekend in London we wanted to try somewhere different so stayed in Southwark. Lupins was highly scored so we opted for it, but it completely exceeded expectations. Great service & spectacular food. The Montgomery cheddar fritters & slow braised pork cheeks were outstanding, but every dish was excellent.

Heading back to old haunts post pandemic feels like a risky move - not least for the obvious reasons. But now the additional emotional baggage- do they pack the same punch and recreate the same warm feelings? This restaurant was my go to favourite for years BC (before Covid) Many a time it hosted a dinner with friends, a birthday, or even a setting for low key work meetings. Fitting then that it was my first proper back to central London restaurant visit. The great news is the modern, simple exposed brickwork and quirky layout still hold it's charm. The food also holding its own in a steady procession of the small ish plates. Tapas here is still proudly defiant in not quite being tapas, with medium size plates that arrive one after the other, rather than the all at once approach. Snack plates of molten cheese in a crunchy, moreish coating were cooked to perfection and consumed far too easily, threatening to steal the thunder of the main dish contenders. The main menu itself was balanced and intriguing. The wine list remains varied. A few less highs to note- a too tangy dish of greens in citrus and an odd, cut up tomato dish slathered in some sort of pesto. But overall the staff were still extremely warm and lovely, the food was mostly on point and there will always be a plate of hot crunchy cheese to keep me returning to Lupins.

Went here on Saturday last as part of a party of 6. The menu is small but quite interesting. We ordered all 5 of the starters in order to share, but several of them weren’t divisible by the number of guests in our party. The olives were in,y supplied with 4 cocktail sticks, which is just poor service. Far preferable would have been the waiter explaining how things came and even better, having the nous to ask the kitchen to customise the starters to suit our stated wish to share. Three of us elected to have asparagus, jambon and hollandaise as their main, only to find there was no jambon! At 6pm on a Saturday night, a mere stones throw from the best market in London! No offer was made to increase the other two ingredients or reduce the price. Someone had the squid which was as tough as you like. The bottle of red wine ordered from the specials card, (but also listed on the ordinary wine menu,) was likewise not available. The substitute we ordered came already uncorked and was poured in the most bizarre, tight-fisted way. The single glass of Viognier ordered just appeared without the bottle, and I’m not convinced it was the wine advertised. Pudding saved the day; four of us had the dark chocolate ganache with sesame brittle and salted caramel; just delicious, but why was it doused in olive oil? It brought nothing to the party and left a curiously greasy aftertaste. The tiny lavatory is insufficient and the gentleman before me had poor aim. A funny little restaurant, more style than substance in my view, and that of my dinner companions.

I went here with a friend and we had such a lovely evening, from the warm welcome to the wonderful food. I had contacted them before and we had a few email exchanges where they checked things with me as they do have allergens in their kitchen. However, if you have a nut allergy, this restaurant is totally nut free! Not because the owners had allergies, but because their landlord had a nut allergy. I always love hearing the motivations behind why a restaurant caters for people with allergies. We were served by Lucy, one of the owners and she was so lovely, really put my mind at rest and helped us choose the safest options from the menu. My lovely friend decided to have the things I could also have as this restaurant specialises in sharing platters. It's a really lovely idea as you get to try a number of different dishes. Really tasty jersey new potatoes, delicate lemon sole cooked to perfection and onglet (very tender rare beef) with beetroot and finally a salad of Brighton winter lettuce, shallots and vinegar dressing which was perfectly balanced. Really enjoyed every mouthful. They even did me a rhubarb desert with coconut yogurt. This wasn't on the menu so ask them if they have something suitable if you can't see anything on the menu. The menu was quite small but despite that we had enough choice for a varied meal. This is quite a small restaurant so book before turning up and I definitely recommend contacting them before going to discuss safe options.

One of my favourite Restaurants in London. Ideally placed for Tate Modern and a short walk back to Waterloo. It was a Friday night, but all 7 Tables upstairs were taken. Usually swift friendly service. Such cheerful ladies. Their menu sums them up beautifully, "Seasonal British Tasting Plates, with a Sunshine Influence". We love Tapas, but it's the only restaurant I know which offers Tapas like dishes. I started with Pizza fritta, figs, ogleshield, honey. Simply divine. Followed by Spatchcock Partridge, fregola grapes, madeira. Out of this world. A surprisingly light Tiramisu for dessert. It's so often badly made outside of Italy. My usual Macciato to close. And Mr Uber back to Waterloo. I was exhausted after exhibitions at the RA, the Atlas Gallery and Tate Britain. Hayling Seagoon

Returning to Lupins for a superb Saturday lunch after almost a year, the place has got even better. We sat at the bar, watched and wondered as the chefs conjured up a pretty perfect summer lunch: arancini; white-bean crostini; burrata; sea bass with a dash...

A little oasis of culinary delight down the back streets of Southwark. Lupins serves what I would call tapas-plus. The dishes are a little bigger than normal yet small enough for you to sample a few dishes - four is enough for a couple to...

Unassuming restaurant with wonderful small plates of joy. My favourites are the brown butter with sour dough and the crab Thermidor, but the ceviche is delicate and wonderfully uses blood orange as it’s citrus and the puddings are perfection. I went twice one week accidentally...

Great lunch venue - light and airy with friendly but professional staff. Flavours in the little plates menu are beautiful.

Little restaurant hidden inside Flat Iron Square which offers 20-30 covers and good British "tapas" dishes. The menu changes regularly following the seasonality of the products. The food is simple for some aspects but very tasty and the products are genuine and well used. The...

Has an amazing meal here. I can not recommend this place anymore. Service was great and the food was good. And I know good food. Wine also good. Go go go. It’s a fantastic find that we stumbled on and we were blown away.

We can't rate this absolute gem of a place more highly. We held our wedding reception here and Pedro and his staff were amazing. Their customer service was above and beyond. Friendly, professional, helpful and incredibly accommodating. Setting is stunning and food and wine absolutely gorgeous. All our guests raved about the venue, food, wine and all the staff. We would recommend Pedro's to anyone in a heartbeat 💓.

I dived into a robust sourdough loaf with whipped herb noisette, before sharing a salad of courgettes and whipped (there’s a lot of it about) ricotta, sage and rocket salsa verde – so densely green you could almost feel the chlorophyll – and a fabulously satisfying grilled radicchio with broad bean purée and pickled Tropea onions (a super-sweet variety from Calabria)

Exceptional! We have eaten twice at Walter’s and must say it’s our new favourite restaurant in Dulwich. The staff are excellent, and the food is divine! A great new addition to Dulwich.
