Lulamaes in Arun

Every piece of food on my plate tasted delicious and was prepared perfectly. It was too good to spoil the flavours with any sauce. Super friendly and helpful with delicious drinks to boot. Thanks to the Steakist annoyingly not being ready for an hour after opening I found this little gem. I’ll be back with a group next time.

This cafe’ was a great find, we keep going back. The owners and all the staff are alway very warm and friendly. The breakfasts are delicious, I particularly enjoy the vegetarian breakfast (I’m not a veggie) there are no elements on the plate that are pretending to be meat, no veggie sausage, no veggie bacon. The family bean recipe is particularly delicious, the coffee is good too. Looking forward to going there again tomorrow.

Having an excellent latte and toast with homemade marmalade. Had an unpleasant coffee and food at another Arundel cafe and was fed up in need of a decent coffee. Lulamae's saved the day. Marmalade is homemade by the owner. Staff very friendly. Try it

Lovely Cafe - very friendly staff who made you feel welcome from the minute you walked through the door. Bright & airy seating & lovely menu choices. We only had coffee & a tea but the cakes looked delicious & homemade, & the soup smelt amazing.

Lovely breakfast had here. The cafe is small but has some great options for breakfast and coffee. It was busy but we managed to get a table within a few minutes. Friendly staff

I visited Arundel with my husband on Friday and had lunch in this gorgeous cafe. The service from start to finish was impeccable, lovely warm greeting and smiles throughout. The food was delicious, I had an egg mayo/ watercress sandwiche on fab granary bread, with a lovely side salad and crisps. My husband had the falafel plate, which he really enjoyed. The cappuccino was divine. An added bonus is that the cafe is dog friendly and, as we have two, is always a joy 😊. Will definitely return and 💯 recommend this lovely gem 💎

Best cafe in Arundel bar none, and we have tried them all. Great family run atmosphere and outstanding range of home made cakes crafted by the owners. The food is very good too! Outstanding, and just what a town centre cafe should be.

Lovely staff very friendly and I’m sure the cakes are nice but fresh orange juice was from a bottle and the BTL had no mayo hardly any filling and was seven pounds… two slices of bread a lettuce leaf and tiny bit of bacon… I think it’s a cake shop that should stick to that… would not recommend for lunch I’m afraid

Lovely friendly staff, particularly accommodating and knowledgeable over an allergy request as they make salad dressings etc fresh on site. Special of the day - avocado, chicken bacon and tomato toasted sandwich - very generous with the filling. Served with tasty salad and crisps - all for £6.50! Friends had falafel salad bowl which was also great and good value.

Such a lovely family run cafe. Staff are a delight and food makes them. If you are in Arundel pop in here you will love it. When they have the hot sausage rolls on be sure to nab one of these.

If I could have given this 6 stars I would have. We visited on 1st October on a VERY wet Saturday to have a late breakfast/ brunch and a coffee and tea. We enjoyed it so much we decided to take a slight detour the next day to have breakfast before travelling home (200 miles), and reserved a table. I had toast with avocado, mushrooms and tomatoes. It was absolutely delightful. My husband had porridge which came with fresh berries. Everything is freshly cooked to order. The coffee is also lovely, I take mine black, so really notice the flavours when not masked with milk. This family run business is an absolute gem in Arundel and if I lived even remotely near it I would be a regular. The owner told me she likes to cook food like she cooks at home and this definitely comes across in presentation, flavour and welcoming atmosphere. If you are wishing to visit for breakfast/brunch try to book as there is limited seating and you really would not want to miss this wonderful experience. Heard about this place so thought i'd pay a visit on my first trip to Arundel.Loved it so much i went back twice - lunch then a late tea.Such a warm and friendly welcome which is always a good start and i headed straight for the carrot cake which was b****y delicious. Even the ramblers toastie was out of this world.Will be going back to Arundel for a christmas visit and will definitely be going back for lunch and some takeaway treats for family.

This is the first cafe we saw on our way up to the high street and being so hungry we went into the first cafe we saw. The place is small and cosy but immaculate and the counter is decorated with many yummy looking cakes. The sandwiches and delicious served with fine quality bread and fresh top grade ingredients. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cafe for a casual lunch for quality home-made very tasty sandwiches and yummy cakes for dessert.

Only coffee and home made cake required and this fulfilled our needs and more. Very friendly staff and menu that would suit most for lunch

Visited lula maes last week when we went to Arundel for the day. We were greeted by friendly staff as soon as we entered. Ordered halloumi breakfast scramble, American pancakes and coffees. The food and drink were superb and we loved the interior of this place. After a couple of hours walking around the town we had to buy some cake and scones to take home. Leave room for their cake and especially the cheese and marmite scones. Definitely making a return visit to this place soon.

Excellent service with even better toasties! Great range of toasties, catering for our dietary needs. Lovely toasted sandwiches with a large amount of filling! I would recommend this polite family run café and I will return! (I recommend the Falafel feast!!)

Positives: The serving staff are so polite, friendly, attentive and helpful- they get 10/10. Clean and bright environment and good covid screen between ajoining table. Negatives: The menu selection is very limited for lunch, but better for breakfasts. Scone was dry and too dense. The cake tasted like it was made from a commercial mix- I had one taste and gave the rest to the birds. The sandwich was stingey and limp. This was not good value for money, I felt that they wanted to maximise profit out my sandwich by giving the bare minimum, I get more in a tesco meal deal sandwich. I'm a bit taken aback by the raving reviews on here but can only talk about my own experience.

Lovely staff, very eager to please very flexible with their menu. Great food all freshly made and a good range of vegan opportunities, including cakes and non-dairy milks. Clean and lovely fresh decor. Ten out of ten all round!

We popped in on the whim after a walk around the castle, had 2 toasted sandwiches which were delicious! Staff are lovely and friendly. Really recommend!

Found this cafe ice cream Parlour by chance. We asked the really helpful friendly lady what she would recommend for an ice cream. She offered Coconut and Millionaire’s Short bread so we went for a scoop of each. It was delicious and I would highly recommend.

My 5 stars doesn't mean that Lulamae's is an excellent fine dining establishment. It's a small café with unpretentious offerings but I've given it top marks because it does what it does extremely well. We had delicious ham and cheese toasties - very generous size and nicely served, accompanied by a simple salad and crisps. No problem providing gluten-free bread for my coeliac husband. We followed this with first-class coffee and some home-made gluten-free almond biscuits. Service was charming and we thought value for money was excellent.

We enjoyed a very nice lunch in Lulamae's, a small cafe partly due to COVID restrictions but they do have a take away window. Very friendly staff and a great choice on the menu.

Popped in for a sausage roll and a coffee mid long run, one of the best sausage rolls I've had in a long time and the coffee was delicious. Good fuel for the rest of the run. Well organised for social distancing and sat on the lawn outside the ruins by the river, 30 seconds away, to enjoy the refreshments and the sun.

Re-opened towards the end of lockdown, the shop has had a fabulous makeover and we're looking forward to being able to sit in for lunch. As it is, they have a great set up for ordering and collection and we really enjoyed our cheese toasties (given to us in insulated bags - genius!) Great coffee, always the key to my return custom.

wow, what a spot for a lunch whether you have a sweet tooth, love a sandwich or adore a coffee this is the place for you, the coffee is of such a high quality every sip was delicious. now the cheesy greek, what. a. sandwich. every bite was superb. couldn’t recommend this place any more and that doesn’t just stop at the food and drink, the staff are so friendly and all round just a great place, does arundel proud.

Visited on Friday 09th October 2020. Lulamae's Tea Room. Arundel, West Sussex. Was here for a Mini Break and came to the cafe post visiting the nearby castle. Several choices in town but this place looked pleasant and we had a nice late lunch. Quite small but COVID compliant and both good value and nicely presented food. We had a sandwich and afternoon tea. The staff were attentive without being pushy. Would happily go there again

I visited Lulamae's for the first time today and I was impressed. There was a cosy atmosphere, the owner was very friendly, they allow dogs inside and they have the best coffee - Edgcumbes! I will definitely be back!

I have visited multiple times and always thoroughly enjoy my time in the cafe. The selection of HOMEMADE cakes and scones is quite incredible - and the quality of the locally sourced food is delicious. I have to recommend the B.L.T sandwich and the 'Date & Fudge Cake' as I have eaten my fair share!A perfect family run cafe that I have recommended and will continue to recommend for years to come.

Lulamae's is excellent in every way.The sandwiches are absolutely delicious. The bread is so fresh and the fillings are very generous. We came to Lulamae’s on spec whilst in Arundel on a windy, drizzly day- and had the most lovely lunch! The staff all warmly welcomed us and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We were very lucky to get the last available table! My husband and I both chose to have a bowl of soup, which had a variety of bread options- we both went for roasted tomato soup with rosemary focaccia. Absolutely delicious and just what we had hoped for! Our 3 yr old had a gammon sandwich which they kindly made a smaller portion of, and they served it as soon as it was ready so that she didn’t have long to wait- unexpected and so helpful! They have a great selection of homemade cakes which my husband couldn’t resist so we shared a generous piece of carrot cake- yummy!We love that they are openly sharing how they are using local ingredients, which helps our local area so much. All of the staff were so friendly and made us feel right at home- they interacted with our daughter, too which she absolutely loved! Thank you all for such a lovely visit today, we will certainly come back next time we are in Arundel!

Great little place - visited just before visit to the castle. Delicious (homemade) cakes. We had the afternoon tea - scones were fantastic and we loved the generous jam & cream. Highly recommended.

We had just visited the castle and wanted a cup of tea and a snack. Even though they were about to close they were happy to serve as long as we were happy that they were going to start clearing up around us. The mother and daughter owners are just gorgeous and they make all they own cakes and scones which is a real bonus.

Myself & my partner were in Arundel visiting the castle & we wanted to find a cosy place to sit, snack & have a drink after. We found Lulamae’s & it ticked all the boxes! My girlfriend had the most delicious Victoria sponge cake & I the fruit scones sharing a pot of tea! On top of that, it’s a family run business (mum & daughter) & they were extremely warm & lovely to chat to even recommending places for us to visit during our stay. It’s a must go to! Myself & Lucy walked away with a hop in our steps & big smiles on our faces! Thank you Lulamae’s x

Popped in during a visit to the town. I had the halloumi and hummus sandwich and my husband had a plough mans. All very tasty! The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and the cafe was well set up for covid safety. Would definitely recommend.

Found this little gem . The luch was lovely I had ploughman's my husband a sandwich. The place is lovely and clean , you do feel safe and looked after. The ladies serving are really nice and very welcoming. I noticed a lot of elderly customers. I overheard them saying they were a newly opened. Good luck you have made lulamaes a real asset to you. Popped in after visiting the castle for a cuppa and a slice of cake. Not disappointed, really lovely coconut cake. Husband had coffee and brownie, which was awesome. A lovely little cafe, excellent stop off. Will definitely return next time we are in the area. Made a special day even more enjoyable.

Who ever thought of opening a window to serve was ingenious as this little gem has much to offer at good value but very limited room inside. Don't pass by the river is only yards away with plenty of seating to enjoy lovely food.

Easy, swift and delicious stop at Lulamae's as we passed by after a walk. Simple doorway / hatch process to order and collect; very nice vanilla cream sponge and excellent flat white - oh, how I've missed the latter! All well packaged and presented in order to takeaway. Thanks guys

My husband and I went to Lalamae’s and had a great tea and cake. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the cakes were great. Everything looked fresh and we were told everything is baked in house, which you can’t beat. I would recommend and definitely go back to sample some other delights like scones and cream etc. Very good value They serve soup and sandwiches, ice cream, cream teas. Look up their website. The only disadvantage is that the space is small, cute and could fill up easily so get in quick.

I enjoyed a lovely tea and cake break here on my first visit to Arundel today. Welcoming friendly staff, beautiful cakes, and a lovely clean, bright, calm and traditional tea room atmosphere. I had the fruit cake, which was very delicious. Together with a pot of speciality tea served in lovely china, it was a similar price to the large chains, but a much more pleasant experience.

There were four of us meeting initially for coffee. After looking at the varied menu, we decided to stay for lunch. We all chose different meals which were delicious and good value too. My wife and I decided on pancakes for dessert. She was advised that there were two pancakes per plate and one might be sufficient for her, which was true. They were excellent because they were traditionally made, thick but light, not like the thin continental ones.There is limited seating and you might need to ask if you can reserve a table. Access to the cafe from the pavement might be slightly tricky for those unsteady on their feet, due to the age of the property which cannot be adapted due to planning restrictions.Unfortunately the toilet facility is not wheelchair friendly: there are a few steps.The owners are delightful and friendly and we will certainly return, probably to sample an afternoon cream tea.

Completely mystified by some recent reviews. I have always found this one of the friendliest of cafes in town. Personally, whilst I might consider using a credit card for less than £5 in a big chain, I would never expect a small business to bear the crippling charges. And as for feeling out of place... You have to laugh. An awful lot of visitors to the town come in coach loads of, frankly, 'more mature' visitors. So yes, an older clientele is likely anywhere in a town like Arundel. You can hardly blame the businesses. I've seen happy families and young people in the café, but if you want a 'younger set', there's a MacDonalds at Crossbush a couple of miles along the A27 near the petrol station. So for the more discerning, non MacDonalds type, this is fabulous and friendly.

Went here recently for brunch, Straight away we felt out of place, perhaps because we were in our 20's and 30's so not the average age demographic. We ordered two bacon sandwiches and some cheese toasties , the order took around 40 minutes , which is mad as there were only 6 other people in the cafe. The food arrived and with an old , possible recycled side of salad, the bacon was cold and plastic tasting, so much so that my partner took one bite and left the rest. I would not recommend this place , especially if your under 50. ps, you will also get charged for using a card!!

the attitude in this cafe is of the dark ages - we went in for a quick cup of tea and wanted to pay by card but were told we would be charged as the minimum card spend was £5. Utterly ridiculous these days. Catch up Lulamae . Tea was insipid to boot.

We called in for coffee on arriving in Arundel and were made to feel so welcome that we decided to go back later in the afternoon for the full afternoon tea experience. We had salmon and cream cheese sandwiches as well as egg mayo followed by very large scones (plain for me and fruit for my husband) all washed down with a plentiful pot of tea. This was £9.50 for each and if we had had room we could have had a slice of one of the delicious looking cakes available for an extra £1.50 each.

It’s a small and cosy cafe/restaurant but a real gem. The food and drinks are well priced and very nice. The staff are very friendly and the place feels like home. Well worth a visit. There are souvenirs for sale as well as small gifts.

A superb selection of food and drinks at very reasonable prices, the quality and service was exceptional, very friendly hosts who look after their clients, very attentive staff. Five of us had a great lunch.
