I am sure there was good reason but me and my girlfriend turned hungry and ready for some food during the normal opening times to find a note on the door stating they were closed until 14:30.... why have opening times if your not going to stick to them? On a side note it did look lovely and had they been open i am sure this review would have been a more positive one.

My mom booked here for a family of 7 of us as she had been before after finding it when she was on holiday in Devon in Nov 2018 and was not disappointed. Upon arriving we were welcomed by a lady named Carol or showed us to our table and was very pleasant when doing so. She told us there was beef and lamb to choose from and then took our orders. The food itself is absolutely delicious, reminded me and my sister of our Nan’s cooking when we were younger, very hearty and homely. Afterwards we all had a pudding and no one was dissatisfied. The Apple Pie, Chocolate Creme and fruit Pavlova were all TO DIE FOR. We’re were then asked if we would like hot drinks also which was nicely served with a little caramel biscuit. Overall the service was not at fault. The place is very oldie worldie and has a real homely/cosy feel about it. The place it’s self is on a camp site which appeared very busy and seemed to do well. None of us were left disappointed and would definitely return. Thank you for a pleasant family meal

Everything you could need from a small tea room in the country. A wide variety of amazing food and home made cakes, all at reasonable prices, served all day! Which in the country is a rarity! Even better cream teas! Wouldn't hesitate to come again. Served quickly and friendly by the lovely Sam who made the experience even more enjoyable. This place needs to be on the map and I strongly advise anyone passing this way to check it out. George Betty and Becca!

After having been told by Forde Abbey that they were "not some sort of roadside cafe" we stopped off here instead and had a most delightful cream tea! the weather was beautiful and we sat in the garden enjoying every minute of our deliciously home made scones. On hindsight the man at Forde Abbey reception desk did us a favour as we would never have thought about stopping here otherwise. This is a quirky little place and the owners were extremely welcoming. Thank you for a nice relaxing time in your garden and a very reasonable cream tea !

We visited for lunch. The broccoli and Stilton soup was impressive although I'm no fan of butter in little wrappers. The tuna sandwiches and panini were also well received. The dining room appeared to be the front room of the original farm house and was decorated in a traditional but slightly cluttered way. Overall, an enjoyable lunch.

We stayed in a lodge here and had a great time. It's a good base to explore Dorset/Somerset. Beautiful walks and beaches. Lyme Regis has some wonderful shops and West Bay is a lovely beach to spend the day in the summer. The campsite is quiet and clean and the owners are lovely people. My kids loved feeding the goats, the brown one being the smallest but the greediest of the bunch! All in all a really homely, clean, relaxing place with welcoming people.

Having stayed on site once before in one of the wooden lodges adjacent to the tearooms, we took the opportunity to drop by again for Saturday lunch with our 5 children as we were staying in the area.Excellent all round, from the we-really-can't-do-enough-for-you personal service, to the amount and quality of food provided. Okay, the menu isn't huge but there's sufficient choice for most and the standard of food is definitely worth it.For those visiting with children, there's a huge outdoor field to exercise bored legs and minds, along with some friendly goats who will be only too pleased to meet you.Excellent in all respects!

I love this place, it's so friendly, reminds me of when I used to go to my aunt's house when very young and used to eat on the lawn in the summer time. The tables out side are nicely spaced so your not listening in on one another's conversations, very quaint no noise only the birds singing which is peaceful in itself. The cream teas are lovely nice and fresh from the oven with lashings of clotted cream and jam. Well Worth a visit if your in the area.

After reading a review about the tearooms posted recently stating the 'poor' service received from that weekend mentioned, im very much obliged to disagree. I was present that same day for the delicious sunday roast that Oathill provides and i have to say that they became very busy whilst serving the sunday lunches with both cream teas and cake. The waitresses coped very well with this whilst serving us the lunch along with the one chef they had on duty. Everyone at Oathill always makes us feel so welcome and at home and i dont think that anyone should be put off by these 'bad' reviews as Oathill really is an amazing place to go.

I and my husband were staying at a local self-catering cottage with some friends over the Bank holiday weekend. I had done some research on places to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner before we arrived (we live 160 odd miles away from Crewkerne) and had stumbled upon Lucy's tearoom's website which promised an indulgent Dorset cream tea and ' Also available homemade farm house food SERVED ALL DAY including LIGHT LUNCHES...EVENING MEALS and Sunday roasts (prior booking is advisable to ensure you are not disappointed) '.This statement is taken directly off of the tearoom website but when we arrived around 11:15 am on the Sunday we were told they only had one cook on duty and she was busy cooking Sunday lunch for 30 people! Well, if it's that busy (and you don't need to be a genius to work out that a Bank holiday Sunday will be busy) you need to have more staff to cope/cook.We were also told that 'This is a tearoom and we can do tea/coffee and cake'. That would've been ok if it was mid-afternoon but we hadn't even had breakfast!!! I understand 'it's advisable to book' for a Sunday roast, but WHY advertise misleading information on your website about food available all day when clearly that is NOT what's on offer. We were told to 'appreciate' that they were 'only a small tearoom' and made to feel like we were asking for the earth by requesting breakfast/lunch/brunch!!! We had four dogs with us, as we thought we'd be able to have a nice walk after breakfast in the ' 10 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside' which turned out to be a field behind the camping site the size of a 7th division football pitch (i.e. small). There was an adjacent field, which had a gate to enable access, but it was occupied by cows and not suitable for four lively dogs wanting a walk. All in all a VERY DISAPPOINTING visit and we shan't be returning anytime soon.

The setting for this is beautifully peaceful, tucked away behind the campsite & cabins. We arrived at 4 on a Friday hoping it would be open, wandered in, rang the bell. Our order was taken immediately whilst we sat in the beautiful garden having ordered the fresh from the oven scones, jam, cream & tea.The tea arrives in china pots "proper" with cups & saucers in assorted patterns. The scones were huge, which meant, sadly, I had to help my daughter out. The pot of tea for two was huge. We were pretty much left to it, wandered back in to pay. Home made cakes on offer looked fine too, was impressed that even though she had been quiet all day (everyone else was at the beach), scones were still being made. Do visit if you're in the area, it's minutes from Crewkerne.

I don't often get blown away by places to eat, usually I go to a place eat, socialise and be on my way. Well today after walking locally to the Tea Room my self, friends and two young children stopped off for a cup of tea and a natter. Well we were pleasantly surprised, by the setting as we arrived at the property, so beautifully peaceful, then by the warm welcome we received on arrival. 'Lucy' Promptly served us hot pot of tea, closely followed by amazing warm scones clotted cream and home made jam. We were welcomed by a very friendly duck who entertained us well, and was pleased at being spoken to. We were then shown a small area with chickens, goats, ducks and a cow, where my 14 month old was shown how the animals were fed, she was treated to the same level of professionalism as the adults, which can sadly be rare in some places. We left via their little garden centre, which too was pretty...with lots of pretty things, which I will gladly go back and purchase. Highly recommend this beautiful farm to anyone who will listen!Thank you for having us!

Visited today, Sunday, for a wonderful Sunday lunch with a bunch of ladies who dine out regularly. We were swiftly shown to our seats and our own private dining area which was lovely bright, sunny and warm with the prettily laid tables were adorned with fresh cut roses, a very pleasant touch. As there were quite a crowd of us, they had provided us with little slips to write down what we had to eat and drink, pens, the menuand drinks menu on each table which made life so easy for one and all.Starters were delicious and I had a prawn coctail which was really yummy and some had the soup, mushroom, which looked delicious.Choices for the roast and fab fish pie for those who had pre ordered the alternative to the roast. Plenty of big bowls of veg were brought to the table alongside jugs of hot gravy and hot plates of roasts with yummy roast potatoes and roast parsnips nicely plated. It was just perfect along with the condiments. Jugs of water to each table and filled when needed without having to be asked and the drinks flowed well being brought to the table. Puds were excellent, a yummy sherry trifle, fruit pavlova, and sticky toffee pudding.Coffee, tea etc in proper cups and saucers. All hot, plentiful, delicious, perfectly served by the staff who were attentive happy and so very helpful . Thank you for making it such a lovely lunch for us, all the little extra care and attention to detail was much apreciated.

I've been to Lucy's tea rooms many times and I must say that it's a fabulous hidden gem ,the staff are all very friendly and the food is really good home cooked food , it's like going home again to your mums cooking , the gardens and grounds are so relaxing and as someone else has said the camping site is superb , the luxury cabins are just lovely inside and out , I could not recommend it enough , on the last review ? Well all I can say is that in all the years I've been going there i have never experienced anything like what they suggest and that all I can think of is that whoever served them or did not serve them must have been having a bad day ? But don't let it put you off as this place really is a little gem and all I can say is go and check it out for yourselves

I persuaded my husband to visit Lucy's for lunch today Saturday 7th Sept 13.How I wish I had not, as the visit was a total disaster. We arrived at 12:35hrs to find six people having refreshments in the garden. I totally agree with the other 3 reviews, but whilst they hint at the diversity of the place, they focus on the Tearoom. I can't find an entry for the Touring Park/Campsite so here goes!As previously mentioned, there's an idyllic farmhouse with rose trimmed cottage garden, offering B&B, homemade cream teas, lunches, evening meals, sunday roasts. There's also a farm animal petting area. More than (one I think) lake, the one that we walked around adjacent to the touring area was so tranquill, covered in lillypads and dragonflies. The small, oval 12 pitch touring park and adjacent camping area were in the same vein, so peaceful. immaculately maintained just a short walk to all the other 'distractions'. The pictures on the website of the toilet block don't do it full justice. Again immaculate, with large shower cubicles that were more luxurious and better appointed than we have at home!I forgot to mention the log cabins that share the touring park area also looked great. We had the misfortune to damage the underneath of our van on the way into the site which left us stranded and blocking the narrow approach lane. The help/support we recieved from the owners/staff (one and the same at this family concern I think)! to get us mobile again, then pitched and offers of help with loans of laptop and to help rectify the problem etc was fantastic. To the point they wouldn't charge us for our short stay! This was well over and above what I would have expected or hoped for and I think demonstrates comments from earlier reviewers regarding how nice the owners are. That reminds me, the well and diversely stocked shop is an unmanned honesty shop!Wonderful place, although a long way from us and thus we won't be 'popping back' soon, I do look forward to visiting again before too long, this time as paying guests!

This really is what people think of when then imagine a Dorset country tea room - and they find it here at Lucy's. To sit out in the garden on a warm afternoon enjoying either a light lunch or cream tea really is paradise. There is the tea room itself and a conservatory area for indoor seating. The Sunday Lunch is a total bargain - all home cooked and at the moment two courses for £10. Good idea to book as so popular - and they have a licence too! The owners are the most genuine, kind, helpful delightful people you will ever wish to meet - true Dorset farming stock - who have time for a chat.Children will love the pets corner and lots of grass garden to run around on. Even a small garden shop to nose around for a gift to take home too. They are also expert cake makers and we have had several birthday cakes iced in amazing scenes. You can see photos of one that they did of Buckingham Palace - it really has to be seen to be believed.Nothing feels hurried here - time stands still almost. It really is something else entirely.A wonderful place for visitors to call in on when travelling along the B3165 just past Crewkerne and the village of Clapton. The road sign also says Oathill Farm as well as Lucy's.Can't wait to trot along again for a little bit of restorative magic!

What a delightful place to stay at. We stayed for a couple of nights to visit the surrounding area and had the friendliest welcome and comfortable stay. The breakfast was the best we have ever had and was cooked to order with local produce. Cannot wait to return.

Booked for dinner but on arrival, they thought we had booked for buffet, fortunately they had a table for us within a short time so we had a pre-dinner drink in the bar, which is fabulous and then went for a lovely meal in the Bistro, it is a small and intimate restaurant and quite modern and food is served on hot rocks, which you cook yourself to your own taste. Nice concept and food was really lovely BUT find that it gets pretty smoky when it is very busy. This is not a unique concept to us and it was a very nice change. Service was attentive and good and wine selection is great. Little pub at the Langport Arms is friendly and wonderful for pre or post drinks too.
