Luck Penny in Stafford

We went there to have dinner…and they have stopped serving dinner. They still have a bar and serve drinks but we were there based on the dinner reviews!!!

They do not do food anymore and have not done for several years. The toilets were clean though. The man we spoke to was matter-of-fact.

Ollie/Oliver is a complete legend! Customer service is beyond exceptional, really made our night! I love coming to pubs where they welcome you! Ollie went above and beyond for us as a family and a larger family, I can’t only express what I’ve noticed but we’ve had many more feed back regards Oliver, he needs a bonus after tonight! I’ve never seen customer service like it! Well done out Ollie 😝 from the Liam who wanted pink milkshakes all night! Your a legend x

Really tasty Sunday lunch and the sweet was gorgeous definitely be back very soon and the price was amazing well done

We are locals and visit here often, the food is excellent, the staff are friendly. We have visited other local food venues and this is our favourite.

The menu is not vast but the quality, quantity and value are excellent. Food was received with a warning! Very hot, it was! Service was excellent. Will be back.

Really slow service today 2 hours to get a starter and meal . By the time it came I didn’t want it and tasted horrible the cottage pie was 70% cheese on top I didn’t want to upset my 85 year old mum who had been out for the first time in 6 months so politely left after she had finished her meal I shan’t be going again Staff never even asked if everything was ok or did we want any more drinks No phone numbers were taken in case we needed to be contacted because of COVID Poor service

We visited the Luck Penny on Thursday evening last week. The lounge was welcoming and nicely decorated for Christmas. We went quite early, around 6 o'clock, there were a lot of people in the bar but no-one in the lounge which was a shame as we were really impressed by the food we were served. My partner had the lambs liver on mustard mash which he said was really good and my sister and I had chicken with stilton sauce, which was delicious. The veg that came with the dishes was cooked just right and the chicken dishes came with chips. The food was really good value for money.

The food was as expected and the staff where helpful and friendly. Two sections so depending on what you require as the games room seemed busy Prices what to expect Probably go again

Looks are receiving. This little place served a very passable Sunday lunch. They were almost out of lamb but offered me half lamb and half beef. Both were lovely. The cheese sauce was not great but everything else was tasty. Staff were lovely. Thank you.

If your trying to find a nice pub, where they do Sunday dinner and they do proper food not microwave ping food, the Luck Penny is the place to go. The pub has such a nice relaxing atmosphere to just sit and have a drink in and when the food is delivered to your table it looks so delicious and it tastes as good as it looks. We had the Sunday roast with so many different vegetables and the beef and pork was cooked to perfection - excellent food and efficient service - would recommend this place to anyone trying to find a homecooked meal with all the trimmings and friendly service.

Took my 3year old nephew for lunch. We had baguettes which were quite hard and he had a pizza.pizza was soggy underneath so we sent it back.cooked another 1 which wasn't much better.

Booked a table for a work Christmas Lunch. Nothing was too much trouble for Management Michelle & Mark & they even adjusted the menu slightly as member person doesn't eat roast dinners. Our meal was fantastic, great value for money & we were very well looked after. Just the right portions, nice & hot & space in between (without being too long a break} to ensure that we weren't over full. A big thank you & congratulations to you for such a superb job & certainly highly recommended for next Christmas.

Dropped in by chance as never visited and was delighted by the quality of the food. Rib eye steak was of great quality and cooked perfectly. Possibly the nicest stilton sauce I've had for a while. The pub was spotlessly clean and the couple who run it were really nice people who clearly work hard and run a good pub. I will be using it more often . Good , reasonably priced unfussy food.

Visited today for Sunday lunch it was very busy with a christening on, but they made room for Sunday diners. I had beef dinner, hubby turkey and autistic son mash and gravy. Food promptly arrived, fresh hot and beef gorgeous as was the turkey. Staff checked on our meals. The buffet for the christening looked amazing!! Only 3 bar staff but worked well as a team, for the meals, buffet and bar. Great value for money for home cooked food, will definitely return.

Well priced, good portioned pub grub, cant really go wrong for the price, although home cooked chips would always be a welcome addition. Steak was cooked really well, and my Wifes curry tasted very nice from what i had. Good beer, and was nice to sit outside in an enclosed area with a bouncy castle to keep the kids entertained

Best Sunday roast I've had in ages, big portion and extra Yorke and all for under £7 pound. Will be back next Sunday.

My 80th Party held here every thing was very good, the room very pleasant, very good atmosphere and lovely buffet. Staff very friendly and obliging

I cannot fault the service/hospitality and definatly the food...The Luck Penny provided a buffet for up to 50 people today and it was delicious...I would definatly recommend this pub to anyone..will be back to taste the food off the menu...

Good menu, and good selection of beers and wines, Steak cooked to perfection and everything served up hot

I was served the best Sirloin Steak R/M I've had in a long time. My wife had the Rump R/m which was equally good. Looking at the menu, there is a a very good alternative range of choice, dependant on your pallet.

Llamado aquí para comer el domingo con los amigos. Parece que ha sido recientemente decorado, un entorno agradable. Nos ofrecieron un asado de £7.99 o estándar para una gran por £9.99.

Este es nuestro pub local, y es un lugar precioso para reunirse con amigos y tomar una copa y una risa. Ha sido tomada por la nueva administración de este mes que lo hará incluso mejor. Ya hay una mejora en la amabilidad de la gestión que está haciendo todo lo que me gustaría ver, etc., y están intentando hacer este trabajo.

This is a good local estate pub which is not far from the M6. Food is good and the beer is Marstons - enough said

Friendly service, with a pool table. Good for a quick pint and a friendly chat. quirky with its decor but could do with a fresh coat of paint

Been again tonight for a last minute mid week tea out. Happy smiling and extremely friendly staff as usual always willing to do all they can for you. An excellent meal cooked by Caitlin! Get in the kitchen more girl!! Would recommend to all. Well done girls

This was a place my father in law used to visit years ago, we ha his wake here for his funeral a few days ago. Lovely staff, great food and service. Made to feel very welcome and as though nothing was too much trouble. Very efficient and very reasonably priced. Thank you all, shall definitely be back soon.

Visited here for a private party.Very friendly staff,very clean premises and non smelly clean toilets Buffet excellent, beer good with 3 real ales and a mild .at reasonable prices.Really pleasantly surprised at the quality from an estate pub.Menu looks to have a good selection at very reasonable prices.Would visit more often if we lived nearby.

Can not believe the negative comments, Luck Penny is a great local, staff and managers are friendly and welcoming, always clean and good supply and variance of beer and wine. There have been a number of much needed improvements to the decor over the last couple of years to bring up to date. As I commute each day we are often too late for food, however on the occasions we have eaten food is of good standard and great value, everything you would expect from a local for a quick bite.SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL

This is my friends local pub. When I first saw it I thought he was so lucky to have a great pub just a stones throw from where he lived, I was wrong. The staff do no seem to have much of a personality and I've never been into a pub on a Saturday evening when I've been the only person in there. The only time I've seen it busy is when there was a function in the lounge and we were crammed into the bar. I've not eaten in here but to be honest there are so many nice pubs to drink at in town, I'd rather spend the money on a taxi and drink in town instead. The decor is drab. It could be such a great local pub with a little more love and attention.

Used to love this place but now not a nice place to visit. The food is poor and the staff and management don't seem interested. The lounge is often shut at little or no notice with all the people that keep the place going shunted into the bar. The once tastefully decoration is now replaced with car boot tat.

Service brilliant and staff extremely pleasant. Considering that this is undoubtedly the best Sunday roast in the area, we were served very quickly. All the vegetables were fresh and inseason, the meat was so tender and cooked to perfection, in fact the whole meal was exceptionally tasty. The home cooked apple and rhubarb crumble was to die for. Well doneLuck Penny and your brilliant staff, especially the chef, thank you.

This is my local and even when I moved to the other side of Stafford I used to still come here before I returned to the area again. The previous manager ran this place for many years and the food, staff and beers were excellent. However, since taking over three years ago the present couple have run the place into the ground. The food is terrible when compared with before. Used to love taking my two daughters here as the staff used to be so nice and they couldn't do more for you. If there was something on the adult menu the children wanted they would do a smaller version of the main or desert. When I suggested this to the present landlady she pulled her already miserable face. The three really nice ladies that used to work here now have left and work in the local co-op and have been replaced by the landlords obvious rough friends. It a great pity that such a once nice establishment as deteriorated so quickly under the present management. Will go here very occasionally just for a couple of drinks on a Saturday night but it says it all that you can go in the lounge on a Saturday evening and see only one other couple in there.

The Luck Penny is a traditional local pub where the staff are really friendly. The food served is always first class and the choice is great. The place is always immaculate. I really cannot fault the place.
