Lucia Wine Bar & Grill in York

Visited with my husband for some drinks in the upstairs area and was served by Harry. He was very attentive to us and he is an asset to the Lucia team.Overall, our drinks was spectacular as usual, as we visit everytime we visit York. Delicious cocktails. Didn’t have food this time, but every time we go the food is always spectacular. The upstairs area is such a nice place to drink, very modern and very comfortable.Once again, a positive experience at Lucia.

A gorgeous restaurant in a great location. It is very nice with lots of outdoor seating and also indoor this restaurant has gorgeous interior. It also does outstanding food. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The pizzas are amazing and so is all the other food . I would definitely recommend this restaurant and bar . The food and cocktails are delicious.

Myself and my partner came for some dinner on a saturday night and were served by the lovely Jamal. what a personality he has! He is such an asset to the team and made our dining experience EXCEPTIONAL. there were 4 ladies sat on the table next to us who also chatted to us about how amazing he was and how exceptional he had made their experience. The food was absolutely lovely, however the service is absolutely and definitely what will be bringing us back!! thank you jamal!

Came here for drinks and the service was outstanding. Thomas was the best bartender ever, i’ll be coming back again just to see him! He deserves a promotion!! Thank you for the best night Thomas.

Me and my sister came for a meal ! the food was fabulous and the service was even better, our server Rhiannon was amazing !She catered to our every need !!! If anyone is looking for a fab meal and a good drink Lucia’s is the place to be !

Visited with my husband on Wednesday evening in the lounge area and had lovely drinks. The young man serving us was exceptional and very polite - didn’t catch his name but he was a very kind person. Drinks were fabulous, will be coming back again on our next visit to York. Very busy however it didn’t affect our experience

My wife and I were a little disappointed by the fact that none of the staff wore masks, and indeed we were told we could take our masks off as they were no longer required. We didn't take ours off when we were walking around the restaurant. The décor is very nice and there was a nice atmosphere in there. the menu is varied with lots of nice Italian dishes on. The service was good. The food was nice, but my wife found the risotto and beef to be too salty.

On a weekend trip to York for my boyfriend’s birthday and booked Lucia’s for dinner. They rang ahead earlier in the day just to check everything was okay with our booking. Absolutely gorgeous place inside and out, really lovely atmosphere! Service was absolute 10/10 as well, staff were so attentive and helpful. I’d never thought to mention anything when booking or ordering about being pregnant, but the girl serving us was lovely enough to notice and ask, and let the kitchen know to make sure everything I’d ordered was okay for me to eat! Honestly thought it was so thoughtful of her and she was absolutely lovely with us the whole evening. Food was amazing too, would definitely recommend the Lucia platter. Was really happy to find they had a nice little selection of mocktails too, as it’s something I’ve found a lot of restaurants don’t seem to bother with.Actually couldn’t fault any part of it, gorgeous place, lovely attentive staff and amazing food!

Wow! What an incredible restaurant tucked away down a cobbled courtyard. Beautifully styled throughout and such a buzz and fabulous atmosphere.

I made a trip advisor specifically to write this review. If I could give 0 stars or even minus starts I would.

One night stay in York but managed to find this pretty restaurant. It occupies indoors and outdoors through a twisting passageway that adds to its ambience.The staff couldn't do enough to help and inform. My husband and I had lovely baked Brie starters and my daughter Calamari. Grandson age 3 loves bread and enjoyed a selection eating it all ! Main courses - a beautiful salmon steak with , daughter linguine pasta with prawns and squid added at her request . Grandson child's pasta and meatballs. Husband had a rib-eye steak cooked perfectly and he said one of the best he has eaten. We all cleared our plates. Couldn't resist desserts. Fabulous sticky toffee pudding enjoyed and for myself a lovely light Italian cake.I would definitely visit again.

We're fans of Lucia's calzone, packed with chicken, pesto and creamy mascarpone cheese, this is the one to beat. Lots of other delicious tit bits to try such as rosemary and garlic flatbread, chicken liver pate' and tasty pastas to name a few of their popular items. Give their strawberry daiquiri a try - I also always enjoy their virgin pina colada. Hey, they also offer skinny cocktails! Who knew.....

We just came for food and was sat at a dirty table outside, we ordered steak and it came over cooked we asked for medium rare, it came burnt and took 5 minutes to chew one piece we left half of it. General customer service was slow but good whilst there however we were not offered to move while a storm broke out. Went to The Cut and Craft for desert and it was brilliant! Would recommend

We sat outside. Good service. I had a chicken club sandwich very filling. My husband had the lasagne .we also had olives. Our cokes tasted watery they replaced them. Only one toilet downstairs? Nice place

Loved the food (I had the seafood linguine), atmosphere and service - loved everything! Lucia's was recommended to my friend and I by our guest house owner and it was perfect for us. Will be back!

Hidden away off an alley from Stonegate, this is a REAL gem! Wonderful decor and atmosphere, excellent service and delicious Italian food. We will definitely be back, but perhaps go earlier so we can make use of their cocktail bar upstairs!

Our first visit here. Tucked away at the bottom of Swinegate so we found it rather by accident - but glad we did! On a nice day in York this was perfect for al fresco dining as they have tables outside in a small courtyard. Very pleasant indeed if a few pesky wasps to swat.

Tasty food all round. Starters and mains looked and tasted amazing. Reasonably priced. Table was a bit small for 5 people but that wasn’t didn’t effect the quality of the evening.

I had been emailing back and forth to arrange a cocktail master class for my friends hen doo. I was asked for my number and was told I would receive a phone call to take the deposit as there was an issue with the restaurants phone line. I asked if they could call around 6pm as I was working later that evening,

I feel so lucky that we found this place. It was raining quite heavily and we had two dogs with us. This restaurant has a lovely outdoor seating area, and one section of this is dog friendly. We had to wait a little bit for a table to become available but we were looked after well during the wait. There was a comfy seat and we had drinks.

Visited 3 weeks ago on a Friday night and so glad we did. Tucked away in a pretty little courtyard perfect for inside or outdoor dinning. Waiter Adil looked after us perfectly with the patience of a saint as we decided which of the delicious 2 for 1 cocktails we should have. Delicious food, great ambiance, great service. Would recommend to anyone visiting this lovely city. Thank you for making us so welcolme.

Whilst shopping in York , we decided to have our evening meal out. I fancied Italian and my wife remembered Lucia was a favourite of her sisters , so went there. We were seated in the courtyard seating area and although the seating was very close together we didn't mind. We ordered our drinks and food and the starters arrived within 15 minutes. I had the mussels in white sauce and my wife has the tomato and mozzarella salad. Both were delicious and looked amazing. Then it went down hill ! It was very busy , with food being brought out all the time and we commented on how lovely it looked but where were our main courses. After waiting a while my wife noticed our waitress telling the manager that we hadn't had our main meals. The manager dashed off to the kitchen area but nobody said anything to us. Eventually we got our meals 50 minutes after we finished our starters. The young waitress was very apologetic but the manager seemed to avoid us. My wife's salmon looked good but my meal of meat balls and couscous was luke warm and the pesto yogurt dressing was replaced by sour cream. I complained to the waitress , who offered to get me another meal but I'd waited too long for this one ,so ate what I could. Again the waitress spoke to the manager and were told that 20% would be knocked off our bill and free coffee afterwards. Once again the manager didn't do her job and avoided us. I paid the bill without having the coffee and thanked our waitress , who was lovely and kept apologising. Doubt we'll go back , which is a shame.

Mum, a friend & I went here for my Birthday meal & we were served by Vickie who was very pleasant, helpful. She noticed a couple of Birthday cards on the table & kindly gave me a cocktail then a cake with Happy Birthday on it. Customer service at it's best!

Nice variety of tasty food. We sat out in the beer garden and it was well furnished. Staff were pleasant and you were allowed to enjoy at your own pace

We are locals and often visit Lucia's - the food is always good and it's in a great setting with outdoor seating (including heaters and for the winter). The staff are always really helpful and chatty - Daniella served us on this occasion and her friendly chat and banter made the visit great fun. Her service was excellent too - thank you Daniella.

We visited last night a party of 4. We waiting 45 mins to be seated which was fine to be expected on a Saturday night when we hadn't booked. Ended up spending 60 in the bar upstairs before our table was ready. We all had starters which were lovely. All had mains the steaks weren't perfect but again OK. We all had puddings. So we spent a lot of money. I ordered the lemon tart and asked for it with ice cream. They'll be a charge for that.... Erm OK. Puddings were lovely then the bill came bearing in mind we'd spent a lot of money they had charged us £2.50 on top of the £6 dessert for one blob of ice cream. It should have been an extra £1 at most. Really put me off the place.

The food is exactly what you would want it to be. Cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Service was good too and we were well looked after. Not a regular in York but I would visit again

The best part of Lucia's was the service the 2 girls who looked after us were brilliant. The choice of drinks is good. The food is varied from steaks to burgers to pizza to pasta. Quality of the food was good

Being native Italian I can tell you for “sure” that this is a true Italian bar like the good ones you find in Italy. They have wonderful espresso and “cornetto” or pastries as you can find only in Italy. It was a great surprise and the girls are super nice.

I honestly don’t know why we’ve never been here before.They do not take booking and there was a bit of a queue but we were seated fairly soon. There was a great buzz all around the outside tables and it had a great holiday feel,but all tables were taken.We sat indoors and there was a wonderful atmosphere.I thought the food was AMAZING.I had the best mussels I’ve ever eaten,the sauce was soooo delicious,and served with lovely garlic bread,I ate every morsel.The others all loved every dish served.The waitress was so lovely and service was exemplary.Couldnt fault a single thing.

Came back to Lucia’s after a great meal early on in the year.. my wife and I even got the same table as last time, couldn’t believe our luck!!! We carefully looked through the menu and then our waitress came to take the order. Firstly asking what drinks we would like and making some great 2 for 1 suggestions on cocktails. Then she asked what food we would like, which I then asked her ... is it ok if I have a sandwich and side of chips off the 12-4pm menu please? She asked me what time is it? I checked my phone and replied.. 4.02..... Sorry said the waitress it’s too late, we are very strict on that. What the.. WOW!!! 2 minutes late.. silly me if i’d of ordered the food first then all would of been ok. If it wasn’t for the daggers off the Mrs I would of been tempted to challenge the 2 minutes (I’m learning). Anyway after a couple more minutes, sipping my elderflower lemonade and counting to 10, I did start to relax and then ordered the spicy chicken and sausage pasta dish. The food was beautiful and did I eat it all up.. and now when I go out I get there early.

Lucia is just off the Shambles so not quite as touristy as pubs and restaurants on the main walkway. The food and service were excellent. It is quite large and quite busy. However, it is a lot of fun and can be romantic as well.

This is a hugely popular restaurant, where one might have to wait for a table. No reservations. We were lucky, there was a table free. We had 3 things to eat, all of which were excellent: lasagna, chicken/bacon salad and a Tiramisu sweet plus a very good non-alcoholic Mojito.

Really upset to have to leave a bad review but so disappointed! Get the same dish every time and come here regularly, never had a bad experience before always fantastic food but not this time! Maybe you need to avoid midweek as staff different.. who knows! But my (usually amazing) food came half the size to usual, we joked it was starter size and the usual creamy texture was so dry and tasteless. The fizzy drinks were flat and 1 side was forgotten. We then had to wait 20 mins for someone to take our plates and then arrive with the bill 10 minutes later not offering us a dessert. Complained about food which we HATE doing and we got a small sorry but nothing offered. Undecided on whether to give them another chance..

Vi var 7 i følget, 3 spiste ulike pastaretter, alle med nydelig tomatsaus i retten henholdsvis Gnocci med tomater og brokkoli og ravioli med geitost som smakte utmerket. Pizzaen var stensovnsbakt og en i følget spiste en stor velsmakende biff, dog med noen slintrer. Alt til en hyggelig pris. Betjeningen ga hos service. Alle var fornøyd med god mat godt over det ordinære. Anbefales!

I always come here for drinks on a Tuesday for drinks with friends and the prices and staff are always brilliant. Good drinks for a good price. Now, on to the real issue, that hand cream... my god. This is THE best toilet I've ever been to in York, including my own house. That hand cream... is out of this world. Come out feeling like I've had a treatment done. Thanks Lucia's. Stay creamy.

Girlie afternoon by train to York on a Monday what’s not to like? After an afternoon of shopping we came across this little gem outside seating on a lovely summers day - fabulous menu, great wine list and highly recommend the Prosecco. Our waiter was amazing helped us with our choices and we were not disappointed. Will certainly be back here on our next away day. Fabulous - only hope that it doesn’t get busy on a weekend but see you soon.

Lovely restaurant and staff, Very organised. If busy they provide a waiting ticket with number so that you can be found in the bar and then taken to your table.

Fabulous place with some great alternative Italian dishes. Excellent value on a Friday night when cocktails are 2 for £10. Big shout out to Adil our extraordinarily patient and witty waiter who had to put up with 8 women changing our minds about what cocktails we wanted. You made our night. Great food and excellent customer service.

18 of us came down to York from Edinburgh to celebrate a 50th birthday, and we decided to come to Lucia. We were instantly greeted and sat to a perfectly set table. Our two waiter/waitress Anna and Adil introduced themselves and constantly made sure that we had everything we needed. Even whilst seeing to a host of other tables! They even brought out a complimentary cake and it was an all round fantastic trip!

On a recent trip to celebrate my 30th we were actually on route to another restaurant we’d had recommended, when we saw this lovely little courtyard in the sun and couldn’t resist! So glad we came here was absolutely gorgeous food, really good gluten free selection and the cocktails were fab too!!

Nice atmosphere sat outside on a sunny day in York, very good food and service by Adil which we appreciated after visiting York for university open day.

My friends and I came to visit for a special occasion and there were six of us. We were met and greeted by a charming young man Adil who made sure he catered to our every need. We were laughing the whole way throughout and had a delicious meal. He had to leave mid way through, but came back to ensure he seen us out and that we had a pleasant experience.

Found this place and during the weekend visited a few times. Had pickie bits (small plates) to eat, faultless. Lovely setting with a nice atmosphere only shame was that at a certain time you could no longer drink outside and had to go the the bar area upstairs again though lovely area ti have a few drinks

Had a lovely meal here and were able to sit outside even though the weather was pretty average, thanks to the heaters. I had a pizza which was spot on, and some lovely mocktails. For dessert I had an amazing chocolate brownie. Great meal and service was also excellent.

Went for lunch lovely place we sat in the courtyard the food was very nice can’t fault it I had chicken burger and my wife had cheese burger. Both come with rustic chips and salad.

A friend has recommended Lucia to me. I visited them.once for afternoon tea. And I decided to bring my visitor to Lucia for dinner this evening. The place was crowded and we were asked to wait at the wine bar for 15 to 20 mins. We just ordered our drinks were told that the table is ready. It was a nice corner next to the window. We decided to order 3 starters to share. We have the Garlic & Tomato Flatbread, Mozzarella with tomatoes and pesto, Hand rolled meat balls. Our server, Rosa, noted that we were sharing so she gave us small plates. Rosa was very friendly and nice throughout the meal.

What a lovely hidden place, in a small courtyard off a cobbled street, lovely food and staff, they have outdoor heating and blankets for outside, you can also eat inside, upstairs is a bar, seating and a small dancefloor in the evening, very clean, and the prices were very good, lovely place.

Food very nice, felt a little rushed though ( we were there close to closing though). Had Pizza and pasta both really tasty. Friendly staff - very apologetic when they locked me in the annexe as they didn’t realise I was still in there - it was very funny....

Spotted this delightful restaurant when walking around the city centre, it was very busy for a Saturday! We asked if we could book but unfortunately they don’t take bookings on a Saturday. Nevertheless we were advised to come before half 7 to avoid a wait. We are so glad we did when we arrived the place was full and stayed so busy through our meal!

We have always enjoyed lovely food here and today was no exception. We had a neat Platter for two and it was absolutely amazing xx

My husband and I visited the Harrogate restaurant last year and we were blown away so when we arranged a girls visit for my friends 30th I knew this was a no brainer.

Visited Saturday lunch time, restaurant was busy, felt a bit let down by the slow service. Risotto way too salty

I have been here before and have been to the one in Harrogate. The food is great, never been disappointed. The service is very good too, the staff are very attentive . Great value for money. A super place , well worth a visit.

Party of four of us went for lunch mid-week. Look and feel of this restaurant very Italian,al fresco and quirky. Lunchtime dining is on the ground floor and outside of the restaurant, upstairs looks to be more bar orientated and club like. We arrived 12 noon and the restaurant was quite but by 1pm all tables were taken. Very good atmosphere.Excellent service throughout the meal, staff very attentive without being over bearing. We ordered selection of breads for four to start. Only four wedges of bread came, one each,which was dissapointing. I ordered Lasagne, it tasted OK but did not present well and was served with a few bits of watercress. Others ordered a pasta dish,meat skewer and salad nicoise. All ate what was put before them but we all felt that the food and presentation was average and unremarkable. The toilets were situated upstairs which if you were infirm would be difficult to get too. I did not ask if there were more on the ground floor.

Fabulous rrstruant cocktail bar, lovely decor, great food and cocktails, staff were friendly and efficient. Nice patio area outside to eat as well as indoor. Well worth a visit.

La detuve para tomar un café después de una comida en otro lugar de York, y nos atrajo el tema italiano que tiene este lugar. Incluso tuve una conversación con la camarera en italiano! Definitivamente voy a venir aquí en el verano con mis hijos. Les encantarían los pasteles y el chocolate caliente.

Súper pequeño restaurante escondido, ciertamente podría estar en Italia, buena comida a buen precio, servicio también bueno, inconveniente es posible que tenga que esperar y hacer cola durante el período del almuerzo, especialmente si es un buen día ya que tienen un patio encantador, pero vale la pena la espera!

Fui a comer con mi novio y tuve una comida absolutamente deliciosa, exquisita pasta. Pero sobre todo el servicio que recibimos de nuestra camarera, Jade, fue insuperable. Felizmente regresaría al restaurante solo para ver a Jade nuevamente. No podría recomendar más! ! !

El escenario de este lugar es lo que lo vende. El encantador comedor exterior, que se siente bastante privado con calentadores de patio, te hace sentir como si estuvieras de vacaciones sin importar el clima. El servicio es bueno como es la opción de menú. Para una familia de 4 con 1 bebida, 1 comida principal y 1 postre, cada uno cuesta 85 solo para darle una idea del costo. Sin embargo, la comida en sí está bien, he tenido mejor pero también peor, creo que la comida es un poco sosa si soy sincera pero definitivamente vale la pena una visita.

Six of us called in for evening meal, we shown to our table by a lovely young lady. Everyone said hello as we walked through. The drinks menu has something for everyone from soft drink to ipa, cocktail and virgin cocktails. Lots on the food menu, usual pizza and pasta dishes, but we opted for beef skewer and chicken, pancetta and mushrooms skewer, they were beautiful very tasty.

We stumbled on this place by accident and it was a great find. We dined outside which was surprisingly cosy as you’re protected by awnings and warmed by patio heaters. The place was buzzing but they had plenty of staff working so we didn’t have to wait long. Our food was very tasty and the cocktails went down a treat.

We visited on what you would expect to be a quiet Wednesday night; however, it was rammed to the rafters!

Nice visit on the recommendation of my daughter who lives in York, the first good sign is it was packed at 6.30pm and we managed to get one of the few tables left.

Fabulous service from waitress called jade, friendly, very attentive to detail and we ate one of her recommended dishes of the day and it was brilliant. It was a great meal and we will be back if jade serves us 😉hahah

8 of us went of an evening meal. The menu is what made up pick this restaurant due to the variety. Vegetarian, steak eaters , small plates Italian all catered for. Food was beautiful, we left 8 empty plates.

Visited Lucia’s for the first time on a Saturday night, it was extremely busy. There was a wait of 45-1hr for a table which me and my friend did not mind waiting. The table was ready after 40 minutes. We both had some lovely drinks. Mains were lovely I had lasagne (so cheesy!) and brownie for desert. My friend had chicken Caesar salad and lemon meringue. The food was beautiful came in about 20 minutes, desert was quicker and came in around 10-15 minutes. Super quick service and staff were really friendly. Would defiantly come back.

A rainy Tuesday lunchtime. Warm enough to be outside with the patio heaters and umbrellas and canopies covering the tables. Made for a nice al fresco experience.

Cheap cocktails were a treat. 4 pounds till 7 pm. Starter of deep fried Brie is lovely but so many choices it is hard to choose. Main of mussels was generous to say the least. House wine was really drinkable. Sat outside with patio heaters. Do not miss this place if you are in York.

Found this place by chance whilst wandering around and liked the idea of eating outside as it was quite warm. There was plenty of choice on the menu, even with two kids with different tastes. The prices were also reasonable. Between us we had a Niçoise salad, pizza, pork belly and king prawns. Plus a couple of deserts. All enjoyed the food with the only slight complaint being two soft drinks we ordered and chased twice but were never actually brought. It was very busy so allowed for that and wouldn’t stop a return visit.

Six of us called in off the street for a late lunch, and were found a table pretty well straight away. Food is fairly standard Italian, but is well-flavoured and enjoyable. Pricing is competitive for York, so is sound value, and we would go again. Service is prompt, accurate, cheerful and friendly (thanks to Alex and Rosa) which was a nice part of the experience.

4 of us went for a meal on a Saturday teatime. The atmosphere was great, with the restaurant and bar areas busy. Even so, we were shown straight to a table (you cannot pre book a table). Drinks ordered, 2 of us had starts, than we had 4 mains, plus some beer and all had coffee afterwards. All for less than £100. Staff very friendly. They got a could of the drinks wrong but rectifying the error was no problem and all done with a smile, so it is not an issue.

Here with extended family and kids - usually a recipe for disaster - but the staff were all really welcoming and great with the kids.
