If you fancy a bit of moules and flavoured bieres belgiques in the heart of London, this is a good spot. But, depending on the day and time you show up, they can be short-staffed, which means unexpected long wait.

Bear was good, I can recommend. Mussel have a lot of sand. The first few were ok, but the one dipped in sauce was too sandy to eat. Sausage plater was ok, but not worth its price.

The fries are not worthy of Belgian fries. Excellent beers and atmosphere as always, but sadly no longer acceptable food. We took someone especially to show them Belgian food, but the menu isn't Belgian any more (despite calling themselves Belgian). I had the mussels (the only Belgian thing on the menu) and they were full of little pebbles that I had to spit out. It would be better for them to have less items on the menu, and do them well.

The beer selection is excellent, probably the best place in London for Belgian Beer. But the food is not great, and most importantly, not Belgian. Bar the mussels, it's a strange mix of random international bar food - if you want to call yourself a Belgian Grand Cafe, you should probably invest in some Belgian cuisine.

Great selection of beers if you're a fan! The service was excellent! Food below average...I also found sth not edible in my salad, and I almost broke my tooth!! Atmosphere is nice - a bit too noisy (need some sound insulation), and the A/C was set to a very low temperature, so everyone was wearing their goodies/ jackets.

The **Lowlander Grand Café** was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday! The selection of beers was absolutely fantastic, with a wide variety to suit every taste, from rich and bold to light and refreshing. For anyone who loves craft beer, this is the place to be. The food was just as impressive, especially the sharing plates, which were perfect for the occasion. Delicious, beautifully presented, and ideal for enjoying with friends—they really added to the celebratory atmosphere. Overall, it was a wonderful birthday experience at Lowlander Grand Café. We had had a nice meal there not so long ago, and we were looking forward to going back. Pity tonight was so bad we had to walk out. We sat for 20mins. There were only 3 other tables occupied ie not busy. Despite this the young lady went out for a half pint and a smoke and then came back and played on her screen. The young lad behind the taps poured and reported the same two glasses repeatedly over the same 20mins. The guy with the pony tail came out. Chatted with colleagues who were determined not to make eye contact with customers. He then rearranged cardboard signs, walking past each table, not making eye contact, then back to the bar to chat w colleagues. Rude doesn’t do it justice. Not offered a drink. Food was never going to feasible. After 25mins of unrelenting rudeness we left. Won’t return

Our latest visit to Lowlander was to satisfy my partner's urge to experience moules frites. The large pan of moules arrived and they were devoured with noises of pleasure and fervent desire. I watched quietly as the plump moules were scraped from their shells and slurped, one after another, until the pan was empty. My partner proclaimed the moules to be very good and proceeded to talk about them long into the balmy afternoon. We enjoyed our lunch, but I would like to mention that my plate was taken away while my partner was still eating. This has happened before in Lowlander. I think the etiquette is to clear plates when all diners at the table have finished eating?

My advice is just come here for beer, not food!!!! Ordered a burger and mussel. Burger was fine, but the signature mussel was disgusting. The broth was so salty and half of my mussels were sandy, it was revolting. Worst mussel dish I have eaten in my life. Another thing is they charge 12.5% service, which I dun mind paying, but simply no services were offered. The host who lead us the table was nice, but the waitress who serve us was rude. And for 12.5% service charge, no water was offered, no one check on our meal and not even a simple "thank you" after paying the bill. No offence, but no wonder the restaurant was empty.

Started with cheese croquettes which were barely warm and had the weirdest texture ever. My daughter tried a bite of mine and agreed they were odd. They barely tasted of cheese either. My daughter had the chorizo to start, which was just a load of mini, very oily chorizo and nothing else. For mains, I had the fish which came with soggy undercooked batter, although bizarrely the actual fish was delicious once you scraped all the batter off. The peas were very strongly minted to the point that you couldn't actually taste the peas. There was no tartar sauce or lemon and I had to request those. My daughter's meal was delicious. We skipped dessert! My fish was comped but it still spoilt the start of our London weekend.

So where do I start?Well I am not a fan of giving low reviews but these mussels that they are supposedly famouse for were very weak.I never had mussels before that had barely any meat.As a mediterranean and as someone who ate at many Belgium restaurants this was a first to me.The sauce and the fries were really good but at the end of the day the mussels are the most important part of the dish. Also they took really long to bring the food because they messed up the first batch. When I complained about the mussels the waitress told me that this is supposedly normal and that the meat is with the sauce.Maybe this comment works on people with 0 food culture but she can't fool me.The mussels looked like they were already eaten before. An absoloute disaster! The bread for the sauce was not toasted enough, the starters were underwhelming and on top of that this place is not really cheap. Not worth my buck!

I think this is a really great spot and a lovely idea, the food is good and the staff and vibe are nice too. It is expensive but that is to be expected because the beer is imported. And the beer is fabulous and I want this sort of place to be able to exist so I don't mind the beers being a little pricey. My only issue is they have stopped doing stoofvlees, which is virtually as ridiculous as them stopping doing frites or mussels! We went to Lowlander when our buddy came down from Brum this weekend to visit. My wife was recommended Lowlander by someone she met in Egypt that's how awesome this place is. The food is top draw here, fresh, piping hot and we didn't have to wait long to be served, the selection of beverages is out of this world. We started on a pint of cherry beer at 8% which reminded us of our 2 years living in Moscow and the staff recognised when i ordered a 2nd round that 8% would have been too much alcohol so we had Duvall which was a real treat and reminded us of or trip too Amsterdam. I have to say 3 of us ate huge portions of awesome food, meat eaters, veggies vegans catered for, we had 5 or 6 separate dishes and starters and 3 to 4 pints each and the price of all that was unbelievably excellent value for money for London prices. I really expected to pay 3 times the amount i paid and was really delighted and amazed by the final bill. We'll definitely visit Lowlander again. I can't remember the mangers name could have been Rob or Dan, i can't quite remember but him and all the staff were all really friendly and made us all feel warmly welcome. We had never been before but somehow it felt like we were familiar regulars. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable and friendly and they played some fantastic tunes while we dined. I wish i had taken photos but the food was so awesome and so different we didn't waste time letting it go cold. I'll be sure to get some next time i visit. I had a veggie crock, wife had maules mariners an my buddy had king tiger prawns, we also had a load of sides like i still can't believe that we ordered so much and it came to just over £160. It's definitely a well-deserved 1000/1000 from us all. If you're in London, check out Lowlander. I promise you'll be really glad you visited and if you like your craft ales you'll be in beer heaven and check out their awesome food menu, it's just awesome.

Being a Belgian in London, I find this place quite offensive. This is a British pub pretending to be something more. Charging >£8 for a Brugse zot, you would expect at least some good service and knowledge about beer. The waiter made us feel guilty for ordering. I had the 'mussels a la biere which were acceptable, but had to ask for mayonnaise 3 times. Took them 20 minutes to bring it. It would be nice to have some actual Belgian food on the menu. There are plenty of places around London with a bigger selection of Belgian beers at much lower prices. Eg. The doves in Broadway market or the beer merchant in hackney wick, where they are actually passionate about beer. Beside that, the music is quite obnoxious and loud. I would definitely not recommend!

High up on the wall of this restaurant, is a plaque dedicated to the Unity of the Brethren or the Moravians. They established their chapel on this spot back in 1750's and worshiped there until it was destroyed by a bomb in World War II. The church then relocated to their "God's Acre" or graveyard off the King's Road in Chelsea. Perhaps part the Moravian legacy of this place is that it remains the seat of justice for the UK with many legal chambers and offices nearby.

Raclette was tasteless, likewise, the bourguignon was watery and bland and amazingly had no noticeable shallots, carrot or mushrooms, but it had potatoes instead!? No butter anywhere to be seen. The salad is just lettuce. Wine was reasonable. I would concur that the service is decidedly French, but French service, at least in Paris is pretty good these days. Nice atmosphere for a bottle of wine, but wouldn't bother with the mains.
