Gorgeous ! A real step back in time, to the 19th century, with the bellboy dressed all in black and his English hat, who opens the door for us. The male major who welcomes you at the entrance to take your name and/or your reservation and who indicates your presence to the waiters who come to greet you at the entrance to place you in one of the very chic rooms. I came for breakfast and so I tasted the porridge with apricot compote, the red fruit pancakes with English tea accompanied by fresh orange juice. Just Perfect! The eggs Benedict looked great but the dishes are so plentiful that unfortunately I didn't have any more room... The staff is generally friendly (a bit bossy but probably due to pressure). Tip: make a reservation. I recommend.

You should order it from the best breakfast restaurants in London. As for me, in terms of coffee and French toast, they set it once.

About a month ago, I had afternoon tea with a friend, and while the tea itself was fairly enjoyable, the service unfortunately did not live up to expectations. Things took a turn for the worse when we were charged twice. The staff claimed that the card payment didn’t go through initially, so we made a second payment, only to realize later that both payments had gone through. We've been following up this issue since last month yet no good response from them despite their promise to respond to email inquiries within 24 hours, and there’s been no progress on a refund. It’s been frustrating, and the lack of follow-up has certainly soured the experience even further.

We had booked in advance for this establishment and we were not disappointed. We were well received and apart from a server who was probably starting, everyone was very nice! Tea time was delicious. However, the fact that the service charge is not included in the price should be indicated more clearly, especially given the price of tea times. We had planned a budget to come, which we had to exceed... Your clientele is not only made up of wealthy people!

If there were a restaurant like this in Japan, I would definitely be fully booked, but what makes this restaurant so cool is the old building, the dignified garcon, and the classic but solid menu. So I thought it would be difficult to reproduce. I thought that if such a restaurant existed in Japan, it would definitely be full all the time, but I also thought that it would be difficult to reproduce the coolness of this restaurant because of the old building, the dignified galson, and the classic but solid menu structure.

It has a lot of charm. Very good atmosphere. They beat you up like anywhere else in London, but at least you're stepping on spectacular marble. The service is correct. They have a good wine list, including Manzanilla Papirusa. Steak tartare very good but perhaps the knife cut is not noticeable... the accompaniments are also delicious (frozen fries but top and a very delicious salad). Beer is cheaper than in some pubs (7 pounds).

Was very busy when I visited. Had a reservation but arrived ahead of time so waited at the bar to be seated. We were seated upstairs and my guess is because they were busy, we didn't get much attention for much of the evening even when we were trying to place our orders. There was one waiter whose name I didn't get, but he was very lovely and jovial, so that made up for the service we received that evening. We had afternoon tea. It was nothing special. The scenery was lovely however, I won't be revisiting unless it's on the house.

Portion sizes very small and not true to some of the pictures I've seen on google. The staff seemed obsessed with not letting you touch your chair but offered no other interactions beyond that I ordered the french toast which was small with only two triangles (so £13.50 for one slice of fried bread) and my partner ordered The English which was a despicable size too We were so hungry we ordered the kedgeree too, which was a lot better albeit the rice was a little undercooked. Whilst the decor is nice it seems that the atmosphere is all that you really pay for. In all honesty you'd be better off having breakfast at your own hotel buffet.

Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience in October 2024. We’ve previously been to The Wolsley a couple of times before and it felt magical before but things seem to have gone seriously downhill. On arrival it just gave the ambience of a stressed out noisy café. The maitreD snapped at us for having a toddler with us. The hot drinks took 40 minutes to arrive and had to be chased up. The food is delicious but you can’t appreciate it when it’s so late. Some staff uniforms were dirty and everyone seemed highly stressed out. What a shame. It was meant to be a 40th birthday treat but we wished we hadn’t bothered coming into Central London. We realised that sadly, it would be our last time. You go to The Wolsley for its magic. For its English charm; to make you feel unique and exquisite. Instead, it was just like any noisy café on Saturdays. We felt foolish. I hope someone who is in charge of whatever happened to the icon actually reads this and cares. Because we won’t ever come back.

Had a lovely meal here with my family recently. The staff, especially our waitress, was very professionally attentive i.e. not completely blaise, nor over infusive or trying to plug the most expensive wine, just spot on, therefore creating a lovely restaurant experience. The food was delicious and well presented. If you are looking for wonderful food and atmosphere then the Wolseley is the perfect combination of ambience, service and fine dining. And surprisingly, compared to a lot of other restaurants in London, not astronomical. Highly recommend.

Dreadful food with absolutely no talent or feeling from the chef. This is the Wiener Schnitzel - a soggy, flabby coating, served with half a lemon. The food was good and the setting was amazing in a great location, however the staff were quite frankly rude given the amazing reputation this shouldn’t be happening especially with it being higher end! The waitresses gave the impression they didn’t want to be there and their service being bare minimum. A very elegant and 'top drawer' bistro in a prime position (next to The Ritz) for locals and wealthy tourists. Sidenote: my partner, who knows it well and was actually at its opening back in 2003, tells me the building was once a car showroom. We were meeting American friends and we all enjoyed it, but I felt the Wolseley experience was a little ritualistic; everything done perfectly, but they've forgotten why. Foodwise, my escargots were excellent and garlic sauce was so strong (a good thing) they could probably have fuelled the classic cars that used to be here! My Haddock Kedgeree on the other hand was a little stodgy. Overall, not at all bad, but it could be better.

It is a restaurant that opens early on weekdays and stays open until late at night with quite long business hours. However, compared to other similar restaurants, breakfast seems to have a higher priority at The Wolseley. Perhaps this is because it has a better breakfast time than other similar restaurants. Reason for higher popularity. If you ask me what is the biggest highlight of The Wolseley, the answer is 100% its dining environment. The facade of the building is elegant and majestic, as if it is a natural part of the nearby area. After pushing open the same tall door and stepping into the interior space, I can't help but think of the Central Café in Vienna. The very high space is equipped with the same high columns. The arches and arcs are really amazing (the design is more modern compared to Cafe Central the Wolseley, which may reflect the difference in the era when the two were built). The overall environment deserves a five-star rating. However, although the large space was perfect, the experience of this visit was quite below expectations. I personally think that the main reason is the lack of details. For example, the entire restaurant is actually very noisy, and the noise often comes from the backstage service staff banging the bowls. What's worse is that these sounds will still linger in this high-ceiling hall space and seem to have the effect of cumulative amplification, and in the end it will become even more noisy. I think another shortcoming in the details comes from the presentation. It is said that English breakfast in London can be divided into two categories: greasy spoon and non-greasy spoon. Perhaps most people will take it for granted that The Wolsey’s English breakfast belongs to the latter category. Or, I didn’t expect that my observation and experience this time would be the former in terms of presentation alone! Moreover, all the items in the English breakfast that I ordered directly this time can only be described as mediocre at best. It is in huge contrast with the internal environment, external environment, charges, etc., and it is also a big disappointment. Overall I think the main selling point of The Wolseley is its dining environment and the added bonus of being close to The Ritz. The non-environment part ⭐️⭐️⭐️, the environment plus ⭐️, or those who don’t pay attention to the breakfast meal itself are a must-visit in London.

I am really surprised to hear about reviews alleging inconsistency of food or service. While we cannot claim to be “regulars” we have patronised The Wolseley on many occasions and have never experienced anything other than joined-up excellence. Today was typical - from the doorman to reception to the waiter, the food, the dessert, the topping-up of your glass, the coffee, the bill, the farewell - first class in every respect. Today I particularly enjoyed the Onglet Steak - maybe not the thing to go for if you love a melt-in-the-mouth fillet steak; the onglet, which needs to be cooked rare, was extremely flavoursome and, as expected, needed a good chew - but no way could it ever be described as tough. The light-as-a-feather Mille Feuille was well up to the mark too. Overall, superb as always in our experience!

We've been to The Wolseley several times to enjoy both the experience and the food. It's always a lovely place to visit due to the excellent and attentive staff who make every guest feel special. The location itself on Piccadilly also helps as it's quite dramatic and feels nothing like a car showroom! The food in this grand café is also memorable with dishes ranging from scallops to steaks and everything in between. We certainly enjoyed our brunch although our teenage children were less impressed. Perhaps the meals on offer are best appreciated by an older clientele? The only downside is that you can definitely feel the effects of wage and food inflation when you come to pay. We ended up spending over £300 for five people (with no alcohol) which is not something that you can do everyday. So come to The Wolseley for the special occasion and you shouldn't be disappointed.

I’ve walked past this place every day on my way to work and thought I should give it a try. I went on a Sunday morning and the atmosphere was lovely, beautiful building great presentation. Service was speedy, some would say a little too as they asked for our food order 10 minutes into seating. Which I may be a little picky but I felt rushed. I can say full heartedly that the English breakfast was not worth the visit at all. Extremely disappointing. The fact how an English breakfast does not come with a hash brown is beyond me especially when it is £24… unspeakable for a small portion of beans, no toast and no hash brown. On the other hand you can tell that the quality of the food is pretty decent. My wife had an omelette that she enjoyed and the hot chocolate sublime. Elegant table accessories ie salt pepper shaker, little pot of the sauces, this really stood out to me regarding the small details that emphasise the grand appearance of this restaurant. Over all experience I would say that visually stunning place, but visuals don’t exactly fill the stomach… unfortunately I will not be visiting again and wouldn’t really recommend to friends and family. Yes it is an expensive place and I was aware of that, I will not be complaining about the cost of the products but I can say that it is quite underwhelming.

The Wolseley is a place where the atmosphere truly stands out—grand, elegant, and perfect for a stylish meal. The Pain au Chocolat was a highlight—flaky, buttery, and delicious. However, the pancakes with bacon were underwhelming, as the pancakes were a bit chewy and lacked flavor. The Bubble & Squeak with wild mushrooms and fried duck egg was decent, with the egg perfectly cooked, though the dish as a whole didn’t quite reach the level of excitement I hoped for. Overall, the breakfast experience is decent but nothing extraordinary, and the real reason to visit is the ambiance and experience, especially for afternoon tea. Rating: 7/10

We always had chateaubriand and Kaiserschmarrn both sadly discontinued. This time I wanted to send the meal back but was persuaded not to make a fuss. The plates were cold, the meal lukewarm and even the extra vegetables were not hot. The nice touch was the dish given to my wife as it was her birthday and we had 3 guests. Classy atmosphere, but the food was kinda just okay for 40£ per person? Not terrible, just not sure the Afternoon Tea was with the price, maybe the rest of the menu is better? Did not try the other stuff. The pastries we had to split, been to another afternoon tea place and they at least brought one per person, not here. Ten finger sandwiches, a handful of pastries and four scones was worth 90£ plus a service charge? Kinda wonder if it’s not meant for more “touristy” folks who don’t know much better?

An overweight male waiter rolled his eyes and said “it is right over there” when my companion asked for the hot chocolate she ordered with the dessert. I used frequent this restaurant years ago when it had some class - now they seem to have put two or three tables in the place of one, people are squeezed in like sardines. We wanted to celebrate our union here and came as a group of 4. The place is indeed beautiful but the nosiness of it makes it simply impossible to hold a conversation. The food is too expensive for what it is, especially considering that all sides are not included with the mains. The oysters were fresh but shell bits were left in, ruining the pleasure of eating them. The service was appalling, we were unable to eat all together as a group and it took an eternity to receive our order. We intended to have a full course but ended up without desserts. Honestly the most attentive but not overbearing meal I have ever had. The food was exactly as described and exactly what you would expect from high end venue at a reasonable price range. Catered to and brought us a gift for our 1 year anniversary. Hats off to all the staff, first and foremost, and the management for instilling all the right qualities of service, and to the kitchen for the excellent food. Thank you

I had a cream tea. Tea and scones are tasty and we had a great time in traditional atmosphere with my family. The service was also great!

Staff where the reason for the 1 star. Absolitely made our visit so dreadful. We seemed to be the only couple who felt singled out. 2 waitresses decide to point at us multiple times from afar as if we are blind. Cold unattentive service, confusion over simple questions about menu, not offered to take our jackets ( people before and after us literally where offered it straight up) This was a massive shame as reviews seem quite good, but not for us today. Will be sending a formail complaint via website email and asking for why we were treated so differently to others. My partner will also. This level of utter insulting service needs to be acknowledged.

I was expecting a lot more from the Wolseley, and hence, was left disappointed. We went for breakfast; I ordered 'The English' with poached eggs (the whites were partially runny, which for me, was rather unpalatable). Unfortunately, the whole plate was tepid; not just mine, but my friends' too. The coffee was hot, and service was attentive, which was a plus. With an establishment carrying such a prominent name, I didn't feel that it was my place to complain - surely it should be right first-time.

The Asian at the reception was very rude and almost rolled his eyes at us. The waiting time was too long. There was no need to come to this restaurant specifically.

Was actually very excited to be trying their afternoon tea selection as I have heard that it was worth checking out while in London. Overall I think the food is good, I preferred their finger sandwiches & scones over the cakes. Now on to the tea 👀.. I noticed several other reviews mentioned some "anti-social" discriminatory ways in HOW you get served but of course one can only suspect but not prove to be true. I honestly wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but this happened to me and my husband as well. We are both young Asians, and not only did we not get any explanation on how two orders of classic afternoon tea would get us one refill of the plates, the waiter who served us our cake selection didn't even bother telling us what cakes were served. We then noticed two different tables next to us were really patiently given a description of everything that was served by the exact same guy. We did tell both wait staff that we couldn't help but overhear them at the other table and would they be so kind as to also describe the afternoon tea details to us, to which they obliged, but it's embarrassing for everyone involved that we needed to even ask. At the beginning and the end of the meal we also waited a much longer time for anyone to take our orders or help us bag our leftovers. I guess sometimes it really takes experiencing something like this yourself to believe it.

Our first time at the Wolesely and the experience was so delightful, it certainly won't be our last. The setting is sumptuous with its high vaulted ceilings and grand chandeliers, the waiters are all attired smartly and treat you warmly. The food... Well, it was a feat of high class culinary skill with attention to detail rarely seen in the touristy areas in Londinium. We had the 3 course set menu (£33.75pp) which consisted of: French onion soup with crispy, caramelised, cheesy croutons The sea bream with crispy potatoes and capers for me, the veal and bacon meatballs served with polenta for himself A caramel chocolate eclair with perfected creme pat and gold leaf decoration, and tangy blood orange sorbet for dessert. Flawless throughout and served with a French martini! There's an option to pay by QR link which was handy. *** Criticism of the service charge *** My only bugbear, as with so many English eateries now, is the trend towards the Americanism of adding a "service" charge. We (Brits) do not have a "service" charge because the cost of our meal includes the waiting staff bringing the food to the table. We (Brits) have an optional "tip" which is an extra nicety added IF the customer thinks the waiter went above and beyond their paid "job". The Wolesely adds a steep 15% service charge PLUS a cover charge of £2.50 per person. So our bill came to around £100 to which was added £15 service charge and £5 cover charge for 2 people. The service was perfect so we left the charge on but that is not the point, £20 extra seems to leave a bad taste in the mouth of this British establishment at the end of a very delicious meal.

Beautiful setting for brunch with an extensive menu and excellent service. I recommend any of the egg brunch options and a cappuccino for first timers.

Book online. When I visited the store, I was surprised to find that it was more luxurious than I had imagined. I ate fish and chips, and the batter was crispy and the white fish was tightly packed, and it was very delicious.

Tried ringing to make a reservation for Friday evening and the phone just rang out with no answerphone. Turned up at the restaurant and it was all shuttered up with no notice indicating prolonged Xmas holidays or anything. Presumed closed for business.

Huzzah.

It doesn't look much from the outside but it's value all the way when you are in! I don't know what he'll do when the station is finished, there's a constant stream of blokes from there. Banging breakfast and excellent value, just what you want when you see what most hotels offer these days. Spot on caff.
