Our group had a wonderful evening at The Wolseley, where the mix of grand European café charm and a lively atmosphere made for a memorable experience. Service was quick, staff were friendly, and the entire dining experience felt effortless. We started with the Chicken Liver Parfait and Classic Prawn Cocktail, both well-prepared and full of flavor. The Steamed Short Rib Pudding was rich and comforting, while the Roast Fillet of Turbot ‘Grenobloise’ was perfectly cooked. The House-made Gnocchi offered a great vegetarian option, light yet satisfying. To round things off, the Crème Brûlée was perfectly caramelized, and the Chocolate & Salted Caramel Tart was a decadent finish.

I’m very partial to the Wolseley no matter what they say and through how many hands it passes down. They have a robust wine list still and their breakfast are a still a number. They are probably one of the few in London that still understand the ways and means of a Maître d'hôtel. Gigondas - my favourite from the list of all reds - you’ll find here. They’ll give you some nibbles out of courtesy and good taste and despite closing nearing, they’ll not rush you. Soutine from the same brand had it from a different Château, but off the menu. Probably Colbert has one of it now but I’m a Bermondsey Soho relevant, so can’t be bothered to travel.

A restaurant where you feel special. We went for breakfast. We couldn't sit at the main entrance since we didn't have a reservation, there is a big area like a glass room on the side, we sat there. We asked if there was a place at the front but the waiter said he would look but didn't get back to us positively or negatively. No problem and asked for the menu. We ordered French toast and salmon eggs benedict for breakfast. The flavors were amazing, they were really the best I've ever had. We also ordered English tea. The dinnerware, cutlery and especially the tea set were silver. This makes you feel special. When we asked the waiter to take our photo as a memory since it was my wife's birthday morning, he first ignored us, then finally took our photo with a shy expression. Everything was great except the waiter's attitude. We paid 55-60 pounds in total for 2 people. The prices are above average but can be preferred for beautiful moments.

The afternoon tea was nice, but we booked for 2:45 pm via OpenTable (which allowed us to book at this time for afternoon tea) only to arrive and then be told it's only served from 3:30 pm. The person at the front desk told us we'd have to rebook for 3:30, or have lunch instead. Pretty ridiculous, given it was my partner's birthday (which showed on the booking) and I'd booked far in advance. Nobody who's booked for a birthday afternoon tea is going to rebook for a lunch instead, are they? We then had to wander around aimlessly for 45 minutes, and we also had to rush our afternoon tea to get home for our puppy. I'm sure it's possible to fix this booking issue, but if not, it's The Wolseley's responsibility to check reservations in advance and call people if the booking they've made isn't actually possible. Could've done with some money off for the 45 minute delay but that wasn't offered either.

My first time at The Wolseley in Piccadilly. I took a friend to lunch there, as a birthday treat. It’s a lovely restaurant, with a Viennese feel to the food and décor. We were sat at a window seat, and the whole experience was high quality. The food was wonderful, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the kedgeree. We will definitely return in the near future.

A jewel of London’s dining scene, The Wolseley blends grand European café culture with impeccable service. From the indulgent Wolseley Full English and delicate Viennoiserie at breakfast to the rich Kedgeree and expertly prepared Steak Tartare, every dish is a nod to tradition. Seafood lovers will appreciate the Seafood Platters, while the Afternoon Tea—featuring perfect scones and finger sandwiches—should not be missed. For a refined yet welcoming experience, The Wolseley never disappoints.

This might be the best place for high tea in all of London. The menu is superb, the service is on point, and the ambiance is top tier. It's a bit pricey, but if you've never done afternoon tea in the city, I can't imagine a better place to do it.

Came to the place for breakfast on a weekday. We were given a corner seat even when other seats were empty. The place wasn’t full and I could have easily reserved for the time as it was available on the website. We ordered the pancakes and the eggs Benedict, the bread for the benny as well as the pancakes were dry and seemed stale and not freshly made. The Irish coffee was the only saving grace here. I wanted to give the feedback to the chef but no one came to check on us or ask on how we enjoyed the food. There are countless great places in London that I’d rather visit. (photo below taken before having the first bite when we were still quite optimistic of the experience).

Warning: California/Oregon Native here so this review will have a west coast American bias. We went to The Wolseley for afternoon tea on our first day in London. My wife had been there several years ago and wanted me to experience it. We both did the CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA. I selected the English Breakfast Tea and my wife went with Earl Grey. Both were brewed perfectly and served in the cutest kettles. Almost all the Kettles we saw around us were unique/different which I thought was a lot of fun. If you have never done afternoon tea it's definitely something you should experience. The clotted cream with scones was just amazing and paired perfectly with tea. The small sandwiches were mostly good. I wasn't a fan of the onion one, but the cucumber, salmon, and egg were all excellent. Our least favorite bits were the desserts, but they were okay. Just not something I would specifically go back for. I'd take more scones and clotted cream to be honest. If you're going to go for Afternoon Tea in London, 10/10 would recommend going here. You won’t be disappointed.

I’m not one to complain, but the service was certainly not one you’d expect for a high-end restaurant. The waiter was slow, forgot to bring us our drinks, and generally took a very long time to do anything; even their manager noticed and came to apologise. To be charged 15% for the non-existent service wasn’t good either. Even my guest commented negatively on the service (which was embarrassing for me, as I suggested the venue). The place was also incredibly crowded and loud, too. Honestly, I wouldn’t go back.

Min farvorit restaurant i hele verden. Fantastisk stemning og som om man kommer tilbage til 30’erne. Meget opmærksomme og søde tjenere. First things first it’s a fabulous room. Like those old school French brasseries at the railway stations. Very grand. Really good and extensive menu too. Service was brilliant throughout. My problem was that my food was a big disappointing. Might have just chosen poorly. Bubble and squeak, wild mushrooms with a duck egg sounded wonderful. Still does. Unfortunately the bubble was a bit tasteless so effectively mash potato. The mushrooms were like rubber bullets and it was swimming in some kind of thin dark sauce. Flavour unknown? Duck egg was great though. That dish needs rethinking. It was a better than average experience due to all the other elements but can’t give it very good unfortunately.

Over the years Ive walked past the Wolseley many times, often wondered what it was like and after having dinner I can say it was worth the wait,, we booked for 7.30 on the 12th, when we arrived it was very noise and we seriously thought about cancelling, We mentioned this at reception and were offered a table in one of the quiet rooms, thank you.. it was really appreciated and much much quieter. The food was lovely. Mrs KT is a vegetarian and opted for the bubble and squeak with a ducks egg but wanted the egg well done and not runny. When it arrived she said it was cooked to perfection. I had the Sea Bream, again it was cooked to perfection. We chose sparkling water with out meal but if you do want wine it is reasonably priced. Our server was great and the service was excellent, we didnt feel rushed and when we wanted to pay it was quick and efficicient. Cant really add much else except to say we will be back.

Since it was our first time in the UK, we felt that trying the famous afternoon tea was a must. However, the experience fell short of our expectations in several aspects—food, tea, service, and atmosphere. Starting with the food, it was decent but not particularly memorable. We had seen reviews mentioning unlimited servings, but that wasn’t the case for us. The selection included sandwiches, scones, and a few desserts, along with a single pot of tea without refills. The scones were fine—perhaps slightly better than what you’d find at Starbucks—but nothing exceptional. The sandwiches were underwhelming, and while the desserts were enjoyable, they weren’t particularly impressive. As for the service, there wasn’t much to comment on, as it was practically nonexistent. Since we’re in Europe, we didn’t have high expectations for service, so this aspect wasn’t particularly surprising. The biggest letdown, however, was the atmosphere. The space was incredibly crowded, with tables placed so closely together that it was difficult to have a conversation without overhearing those around us. We were also seated at the very back, which didn’t contribute to a particularly pleasant experience. That said, given the price point, this was one of the more affordable “luxury” afternoon tea options in London. While we had hoped for a more enjoyable experience, we recognize that it offered a relatively accessible way to try this tradition. However, considering the overall quality of the food, setting, and service, it didn’t feel like great value for money. Overall, we’d give it three stars.

Quality: Our afternoon tea was tasty, but the presentation wasn't outstanding. Prices: High, but we knew that. What is unacceptable is the 15% service charge added to the high prices. Conclusion: Overall very good, but a 15% surcharge is cheeky. If you find the review helpful, please click the “thumbs up” button.

Overall, the restaurant combines high quality food, excellent service and a unique atmosphere. We would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a special culinary experience! Adapt it to the characteristics of the particular restaurant you want to describe!

Came here for afternoon tea. Service and atmosphere are great. Food is good, sandwiches are tasty and scones are good.

AVOID. If you absolutely have to come because you’re perishing of hunger (and the only other place serving is the Ritz next door which is even more of a rip off), or if you’re being forced to patronise by social convention, then I would recommend just getting a coffee (and maybe a pastry if you’re feeling generous). I know no one comes to Wolseley for the food but I expected it to be at least decent. As low as my initial expectations were, the English breakfast (see photo) at £24.50 with one sausage and no toast is an absolute travesty and crime against modern civilisation in the present economy. It’s £3 to add 2 slices of toast. And it took more than 30 mins for the food to arrive, and not all at the same time for the table! Outrageous! @Wolseley I plead you please to set higher standards for yourselves. Don’t be a mug like me. If you come for the ambience, just get a coffee and a pastry and try not to spend more than £10 because you will leave feeling dissatisfied and angry like I did, even when it was someone’s treat!

Always a pleasure to go for breakfast in a truly wonderful setting. Great choice of breakfast goodies and immaculate service. Love this place and it's sister location too. Treat yourselves

I stopped by for breakfast the other day. As expected, the atmosphere was good, and even though I didn't make a reservation, the staff member greeted me with a smile when I entered. After that, I was taken to a room on the left, but I was disappointed in the way the staff there treated me. I made a mistake in my order and tried to correct it right away, but the clerk who asked me the question just sighed and acted blatantly displeased. After that, I received customer service from that person and another person who asked me to leave the store. I'm sorry that I made a mistake once, but I think it was too much. It was a shame because the food and tea were delicious and the atmosphere was great.

The food was all good quality. I ordered the 3 course set meal and was happy with my French onion soup, soufflé suisse, and salted caramel eclair, the latter of which I found I liked much better than I expected. My mom also enjoyed her eggs benedict and crème brûlée, and my dad his sea bream. We were seated in the bar room, so it was rather loud and crowded as it half-served as a waiting room. We spent about $100 for 3 people. It was a good experience, but I didn’t think it was a must-visit and it didn’t blow me out of the water. The bathrooms were also only so-so.

Standards are slipping, waiter looks like he does not want to be there, service is slow and inattentive, portions smaller and food not as good as it used to be. Cakes are now individual cakes instead of the beautiful slices and not as good! How sad!

One of my favorite spots in London for any meal or just coffee. It’s still good but not as good as it used to be.

A glamorous spot for a special breakfast, brunch or lunch. Staff are friendly and relaxed, service superb, The surroundings make for a visit to remember if it's a treat, recommend booking ahead or the wait times can be lengthy at the door. Simply one of the best spots in town for a special occasion.

I have been going to Wolseley for several years as a resident and tourist when I lived abroad. I think it has been going downhill over the last few years. I brought my wife and kids, who had the eggs Benedict. It looked like it sat for a while before being served, as the Hollandaise was thick with a thin film and a bit cold. The Black Forest was a disappointing round cake made primarily from cream and cherries - not much to it. Service wasn't as good as it used to be. Waiters appear irritated when you ask them for something or help with the menu. I would still like it to be my go-to place in Green Park, but they must step up their game or end up as an overpriced tourist spot.

I came without a reservation, but the receptionist greeted me with a smile and kindly guided me around. However, it was only for a moment that I felt wonderful. I was guided to the middle seat on the left side of the entrance, and the tall man who served me there had a really bad attitude. I was irritated from beginning to end, and was confused between small and large, and just by asking the size, I took my frustration out on me. She had a good attitude when talking to other staff members, but it seemed like she was clearly having a bad attitude towards the customers. I felt very sick. Although the meal was delicious, I felt incredibly uncomfortable, so I left more than half of the meal I was looking forward to and left without drinking tea. There was another review from someone who was guided to a seat on the left side of the entrance and received similar customer service, so is there a rule for people sitting on the left side to behave in this way? Or maybe the same staff? I really don't recommend that seat. This was my worst memory of what happened in London. I'm very disappointed

We showed up as walk-ins, with very little hope and expectation; but Katerina at the front desk was so kind to give us a very nice and well located table for two, in spite of being fully booked. The ambience is unique and elegant. The service was excellent Peter at the front door is very friendly and a total gentleman.

+ An expensive breakfast, but worth the experience. A renowned cafè-restaurant located in a prime location. Sophisticated dining in a beautiful setting, with good service. A nice treat. - The English breakfast could have included a piece of toast at least for the price paid, rather than being an extra, charged, add on :/

They just had a refurbish! Truth is, this place was 5 stars already before the renovation, good food and coffee but most importantly- good vibes. I recommend the falafel wrap 👍🏻👍🏻

It doesn't look much from the outside but it's value all the way when you are in! I don't know what he'll do when the station is finished, there's a constant stream of blokes from there. Banging breakfast and excellent value, just what you want when you see what most hotels offer these days. Spot on caff.

Huzzah.

Tried ringing to make a reservation for Friday evening and the phone just rang out with no answerphone. Turned up at the restaurant and it was all shuttered up with no notice indicating prolonged Xmas holidays or anything. Presumed closed for business.

We booked this meal many weeks in advanced to kick of the festive season. havibg booked our table for 8pm (we arrived on time), there was no one to greet us upon arrival and we waited 20 mins to taken to our table and that was after we complained 3 times. Then waited another 15minutes for menus and the wine list never arrived so we had to order at the bar. The wait staff did not acknowledge us for most the time to even take our order. We ordered food at 8.50pm (table booked for 8pm), starters arrived at 9.30pm, and mains just after 10pm. the time we would usually be leaving any other restaurant. The only response we got from wait staff was its not fault we don't have staff. Technically it is your problem really, its December, its busy and if you can't manage the restaurant then don't take in so many people.
