Love Cake etc in Purbeck

We had breakfast twice and a lunch here, it's so good. Great service, awesome range of food. Recommend the smoothies. Fantastic French toast. Worth booking ahead as it gets busy, and rightly so. Lots of nice gifty items to buy as well.

Oh just Wow! Such a great cafe. Cake to die for ...and you might if you visited too often! Best coffee cake since my mum passed. Plus everyone is friendly and helpful. Plus you can bring your doggo.

A delightfully appointed cafe with comfy cushions on the bench seat. I had the all singing and dancing £16.95 afternoon tea. 2 quarters each of egg, cream cheese and cucumber and ham and chutney garnished with pea shoots. On very fresh bread obviously freshly made. The scone was not so impressive in fact the smallest scone I have ever been served and it was smaller than both the dish if raspberry jam and clotted cream. 1 teaspoon of clotted cream was all I could put on each half. I put most of the delicious jam on the Victoria sponge as I didn't want to waste it. Besides the sponge there was a slice of chocolate cake and an apple cake. Very generous portions except the scone. Nevertheless I have given 5 stars. By the way the staff were very friendly and offered me an alternative to tea to drink.

Today I joined a one day Nicki B retreat for Breathing and Movement in Studland ( which was so professional and life changing) we had a lunch box provider by Love Cake ! And wow ! I have been to their café a few times and enjoyed lunch , cake and ambience & great service. I had been even more impressed with their lunch box , full of nutrition, flavour and taste. Not my personal choice ‘healthy’ but it’s also a game changer ! Delicious and great presentation ( don’t get that with fast food or the general eateries). Just impressive Nicki B who chose Love Cake and the team at love Cake - thank you so much. Highly recommended

Popped in for a coffee after walking around the town and then saw the cakes! Beautifully presented and as delicious as they look. The lime and pistachio, lemon and blueberry, and banoffee were all an absolute treat. Probably some of the nicest cake we've eaten in a cafe in a very long time. Customer service was good too!

Delicious cakes, large slices, I couldn't finish my coffee and walnut, husband had victoria sponge, good coffee, lovely pot of tea. Great service and ambience, such a beautiful place to sit and relax. Huge downstairs. The only mark down at all was the cocktails we had, not much alcohol for a normal price. Otherwise fab and would return time and time again and just have the cake and tea and coffee.

Fabulous lunch and delightful atmosphere. We didn’t try the cakes as we were too full. Thank you we will most definitely return.

We visited 2 days running for lunch and enjoyed Welsh rarebit both days which was excellent! Unfortunately we didn’t have room for cake after the very generous portions….

This is obviously a popular and busy little cafe. We enjoyed a great lunchtime snack - the only problem was deciding what to choose from the varied and interesting menu! Sadly neither of us can eat cake, but they did look delicious! Will definitely be back next time we visit Swanage.

Amazing tasty cakes and you can’t beat the homemade quiches and salads! Staff very friendly, quick service even though busy and also dogs very welcome.

Wonderful cake and food. We ate there on 3 of the 7 days we stayed locally and got take away cake a couple more! The cakes were delicious, constantly changing and loved the Easter themed ones over the weekend. We had two lunches here. The quiche and trio of salad was so good I had it twice and my partner had chilli on a jacket and the salami ploughman’s, both of which he enjoyed. We had our 2 year old with us. Our only tiny tiny gripe would be the limited option for her. She had the little person afternoon tea-cheese and ham sandwich, jam sandwich, brownie and shortbread. It was lovely but she’s only little and it was a lot of sugar. A small toastie option etc would have been nice but this didn’t stop us returning! Lovely staff, lovely food, lovely atmosphere.

A real quaint little gem showing the best of what Swanage has to offer. Spot on with the decor - I even loved the crockery! The young lady who served us very kindly managed to squeeze us in even though they were full, and her service and table manner was exceptional. Great selection of cakes! Will definitely visit again if visiting Swanage in future.

A fantastic friendly welcome. We visited twice for breakfast whilst staying for a few nights in Swanage. The food was delicious, with a wide selection for breakfast and some delicious pastries also. The coffee was exceptional and this was obviously a popular spot for locals too. Dog friendly being a must for us… the phones were busy with bookings for over Easter for breakfast and lunch. The staff are lovely and accommodating and we will visit again next time! Thank you xx

Very friendly service. Even though Love Cakes was packed, we were made to feel welcome and valued. It was only a couple of minutes until we got a table. We both had a cream tea. The still warm scone was fresh and the clotted cream and raspberry jam was plentiful. We left sated and happy.

Popped in for a cuppa and couldn’t resist the cakes on display. I had the blueberry and lemon drizzle cake which was delicious . The portion was massive and I took half of it with me to have later .My husband had the Victoria sponge which was also a very large slice ( he managed it with his cup of tea 😀 ) Lovely decor and friendly

Really nice tea and coffee. Had a cheesecake slice and the texture was a little too gelatinous for my personal taste, but still the flavour was lovely and zingy.

Excellent place for tasty coffee served in pottery mugs. The cake choices are varied and imaginative as well as being a treat. We visited this establishment twice while in Swanage. I ordered a bacon sandwich with wholemeal bread, the slices of bread were doorstep, and the bacon plentiful and tasty, value for money it was. We went back the next day for lunch and all three of us chose different filled toasted sandwiches which were served up with side salad and other treats such as coleslaw and couscous. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly, the service was excellent. I can highly recommend. Booking is advisable even in the winter season. Go treat yourselves.

Didn't get a great vibe from this place. The cake and coffee were okay but very overpriced. It was boiling hot as well, with tables cramped next to each other. Staff were also a lot more friendly and attentive towards locals/regulars than non-locals. We were obvious out-of-towners and found the service quite cold. When we entered, we waited a while to be acknowledged by staff. When they finally did, they didn't greet us or crack a smile when we greeted them. Then as we left, we were shocked by the fact a blonde waitress/staff member with short hair abruptly shut the door behind us. No "goodbye" or "thank you", just unwarranted rudeness. An earlier review on here mentions a rude staff member - I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same woman.

Lovely cafe, great staff and the best chocolate vegan birthday cake ever!!!! Had to drive 25miles to get cake but so worth it, definitely recommended

Called in with my friend for a slice of cake and a drink. I had the passionfruit raspberry and white cocolate cake and my friend had the hummingbird cake. Both cakes were absolutely beautiful so soft and moist and full of flavour. Staff were absolutely lovely and the venue was clean and very cute. They also have a fabulous selection of condiments to buy and I ended up spending a fortune on some really amazing dips, chutneys and drizzles. Which I'm very much looking forward to trying.

We actually visited back in August 2023 but have only just started using TripAdvisor - and feel compelled to leave this review as I still think about this place on a regular basis. We had a quiche (to share) which was of a sizable portion and absolutely delicious, and then a Triamisu flavoured cake (equally sizable) that was truly one of the best cakes I’ve ever eaten. Will absolutely visit again if ever on that side of the world.

This is my favourite cafe in Dorset, we have had plenty of lunches and cakes there. All their savory food is lovely and the cakes are simply the best; home baked and big slices, you can't really go wrong.

Lovely team here, really welcoming and accommodating. Setting is charming with top of the range food retail items to take home. Stunning beef bourguignon with buttery mash. Tasted amazing. Just could have been hotter. Would head back for another visit.

Wonderful cakes which were all fresh and big portions. The tea, chai tea and coffee were also lovely. We booked our table as it was suggested and I'm glad we did as it was busy. I cannot comment on the other food as we only went there for the cake and teas/coffee

Love cake has always been a great spot for brunch and never disappoints! Came in yesterday for tea and cake and were greeted by a lovely atmosphere and looked at the items for sale, a wide and unique variety! We then sat down and ordered. It took more than expected to come for just a slice of cake and tea but understandable as it was very busy. Staff are very polite and the cake was delicious!

Have had this on my visit list for a long time. Getting there is really easy via the ferry, you stay seated in your car for around 10 minutes and I think it is operated via chain link. I found the journey fine despite being slightly apprehensive (motion sickness)… We ordered the love breakfast, cream tea and a soya hot chocolate and Diet Coke. The breakfast was very well presented and includes one slice of toast. My scone was warm and accompanied by the perfect combo of delicious cream and jam. Overall a must visit and there is plenty of seating downstairs. What a lovely spot!

We had to find somewhere to eat before we left out holiday let early due to it being awful. Thank you so much to the lovely attentive and friendly staff in this cafe who cheered us up. Really welcoming feel and absolutely fantastic food. Never had French onion soup as delicious and it was such good size portions we ran out of room for what looked like absolutely delicious cakes. We love a dog friendly cafe, We had Two breakfast and 2 coffees which cost just under £30 so the prices are bit on the higher side. You also can’t make any adjustments for the food.
