I ordered a steak today and it was amazing and tender! I was able to meet the chef Charlie I think it was? Luckily was able to catch her as she went to the talk to the bar staff. And was able to pull her to one side where she told me she was the grill chef. Of which I told her that it was the best steak I’ve ever had! Absolutely amazing food!

My friend and I took our babies to lunch, which is never easy! The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly. Our tuna Niçoise salads were delicious, as was the wine! Would definitely go back, it was a very positive experience.

A very pleasant lunch with my brother-in-law and wife and my husband. A good choice of menu with a delightful white wine and dessert.

Let's face it. The concept of a chain restaurant is that the food, ambience and service process is the same wherever you go. Any review therefore can only be about the way in which the concept is delivered by the people working there. Today's visit to Cote in Godalming was an example of friendly, swift, attentive service that cannot be faulted. What's not to like - thank you.

Beautiful venue! Lovely staffs & great food as usual. I tried their summer special and it was beautiful! Recommended. We did make a reservation but it was not full when we were there.

Shared an evening meal with my daughter both our meals were excellent, service was attentively good. The one thing that I really appreciated was that we had cotton serviettes rather than paper,so rare nowadays.

We had a fabulous evening and there was not one thing we would have changed! We had asked for a quiet table as my mom is hard of hearing and we were put in a separate area with the music turned down which was so appreciated. The service was some of the best we have had in the UK and the food was fantastic. We were served by Jamie and Isaac and both were absolutely superb! Thank you

Had a farewell dinner for my mother-in-law. Asked to be seated in a quiey spot, thank you Isaac for arrangi g and turning the music down, she has a hearing problem. The welcome was warm and friendly, recommendations excellent and food superb. Great service. We will be back

Brief visit to Cote, ironically prior to heading for casual swim locally. Used restaurant Brand before in Winchester and that was always pleasant. Here, good service, clean and tidy and excellent food. Since we were only visiting with time constraints, settled for Prix Fixe menu which was suficient and good VFM. Lovely waitresses, toilets clean too, which I always notice and appreciate. Location is nicely located and presented too, tucked along the High street. Only - tiny - point for me is, I think they could add a touch of colour somehow to their restaurant interiors. Plain walls clearly preferred by Brand, as I've noticed elsewhere too....small discreet pics, plants or flowers for decoration?.. Very small point. Choccy Mousse could have sprig if mint, likewise....but oh ..taste to die for... Ask my partner, trying to diet, but with eyes green with envy! 🤣 X

Always a friendly welcome. A late lunch, we chose from the prix fixe menu. The food was excellent, the best meal we have eaten at the cote for a long time.

We used to really like this branch of Cote, coming @ twice a year, in conjunction with appointments in Godalming. Unfortunately every time we have come, since Covid, there has been something wrong with one or both of our meals. The odd mistake is completely forgivable, but every time for 2-3 years means we will now go elsewhere.

Very good restaurant, a little taste of France in the south of England

We had a very nice tasting platter of roast meats. It was delicious and plenty for two. Beautiful building with oak beam ceilings.

It wasn't very busy which was odd especially for a Sunday lunch time. The service was a bit haphazard and slow, although friendly enough. The food took a long time to arrive and a long time to clear away. It felt a bit as if it were being run by teenagers. The food was nice but I could have done with more rocket with the chicken. It's a very pretty restaurant.

Lovely evening at Côte Godalming for Valentines day. Service was a bit slow but that's to be expected with one of the busiest days of the year. Food and drinks were delicious and will definitely be coming back.

We had a nice experience, the burger was good, but not the best one I had. Little bit disappointed that it didn't had the option to add cheese as well 🙁The fries were delicious, though. It was very quiet, so we received our food quite fast. Might be back, but will order the burger without the onion chutney. It's just a matter of taste.

A lovely relaxing lunch and amazing food

This was the worst meal I have had for a very long time and totally different to any other I have had at Cote. The food was late and dried up and tasteless. Extremely poor service and was amazed at the response from the manager who was wanting to take off only optional service charge.This was considered to reflect the awful experience we had encountered. I will not be returning.

Cote is probably the most handsome restaurant in Godalming, it’s housed in an old building and oozes class. The staff on the whole are friendly and polite too (but we’ve had the odd sloppy hiccup). Onto the food - it’s fine, it’s absolutely……fine, but I’ve never come out feeling I’ve just had an amazing meal. Overall: nice for a change. It does the job. Good looking but perhaps lacking in the personality department.

Not so great lunch for two today. Warm beetroot salad and calamari starters were good but it went down hill after that. We waited a long time for our main meal, as did a few tables. No explanation was offered. My wife's fish meal was cold (obviously sitting around) and my beef bourguignon (which I suspect caused the cold fish dish) was cut up steak with a sauce on it. It certainly had not been slow cooked for 6 hours. Why not just tell me they had problems? But steak with a sauce is. Shame, lunch was my birthday treat from my wife............ The owners comment below was my review 7 months ago and does not address the recent problems they are defiantly having!

sadly always a disappointment, the food is clearly left to stand for a while before being served. my poached eggs, hard boiled, the bacon dry, the avocado warm, just poor quality service when it comes to the food. such a shame as the staff are so lovely and the menu is good.

Very speedy service and excellent food

Staff were polite and friendly but service was very slow. One of my poached eggs had a hard yolk and the 3 people who had ordered the full English commented that the bacon was tasteless. Mushrooms had been forgotten from one plate and we had to ask for them. The potato rosti was tiny - it looked like someone had taken a bite out of a larger piece and put it on the plate! It was also somewhat disappointing that it was my hen party (I was wearing a sash and bow/veil) but this wasn't acknowledged. Then a service charge was automatically added to the bill. Some parts of the meal were really tasty, but I wouldn't come back here for brunch again.

After a bad experience earlier in the day at a Fuller's pub down the road, we opted for our favourite high street restaurant, Côte! This is actually the first time reviewing them, we've eaten there several times over the past few years and each time the service is excellent the food always delivers and the prices are very reasonable! Have never had a bad experience and they continue to impress us! Loved my steak today!

We went for my birthday, and I felt so special the entire time. The manager, who we unfortunately didn’t get the name of, went out of his way to make me feel really looked after, and the personal touches made me really happy - and he had great cocktail making skills! Thank you so much to both him and Côte, amazing service as always!

We went last night for my mums birthday- the team had put up a Happy Birthday banner, sprinkled the table with confetti AND given her a birthday card- it was such a lovely gesture. The food was sublime as always, the team working were all so friendly and had such a laughter with us. Always have a great experience here. Can’t wait to go back!

Great food and brilliant, helpful staff.

Unfortunately miserable experience today. Simple requests met with shrugged shoulders of indifference by the manager, uncooked vegetables, tasteless fish stew, tuna nicoise with tapenade instead of olives. Just poor all round and pack of care from all but the one waiter who seems to be the only one interested in customer service. Back to Prezzo and the much better independents like Piazza Firenze in future.

I would really like to compliment the manager Karl at godalming cote, he is amazing. My friend and myself came in for a late lunch with my 2 year old son who got a little bit upset. A older couple next to us were rather rude about it and upset me. Karl went above and beyond to comfort me when they left to reassure me that I wasn't a bad mother and tried to help me calm down as well as my son. What a fantastic experience to a very upsetting situation. I would like to thank him for being so nice and making a stressed and upset mummy feel alot better

Jazz on Sunday at this restaurant was delightful. Staff were helpful and friendly and served my spritzer exactly how I like it. Food was freshly cooked and tasty. Well worth a visit.

A belated Big thank you for looking after my wife, myself and 22 guests celebrating my 80th birthday on the 15th July. Quite a challenge for the staff but one which they carried out with a smile. Particular thanks to Jenny who dealt with all the pre event arrangements and looked after us beautifully on the day making the whole experience one to remember

Great service, good quality food

Pretty average experience, unfortunately. The service really wasn't up to scratch with lots of younger (no issue with this at all) servers, who were interested in chatting to each other as a priority. We waited ages for a drink and to be served. The food was ok, but a simple croque madam was burnt and lacked seasoning.

Frankly grim (again). We're done with Cote - it's just not up to it any more

A lovely quiet version of the bistro chain. Familiar favourites in a different setting. Small talk in Godalming was interesting to overhear too! Lots of character.

I know that Cote is a chain, but I was fairly disappointed today. I ordered a French onion soup, and it was delivered a bit cold, so I asked for it to be heated up a bit more. The chef obviously just microwaved it for 2 or 3 minutes, and it came back boiling and fairly ruined. The French Grave wine 🍷 was good, though.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for a wonderful meal on Valentine's Day. Great cocktails, great food, great wine and fabulous service as always from friendly, efficient staff. Will see you again soon!

Finally Cote Godalming is providing freshly cooked hot food again with excellent service after we had some truly awful dining experiences between November and December 2022. Let's hope that the Partners Group which owns the Cote Restaurant chain is looking after our Cote in Godalming so we can maintain the only decent restaurant in the High Street. Try the pear clafoutis desert it is heavenly plus the blanc de blanc champagne cocktails from the drinks menu.

A very nice environment for dinner. Staff was very friendly and prompt. Stopped in for a small meal while traveling, ordered the French onion soup which was delicious and very filling! Their squeezed juices are delicious too, ordered the orange, mango, etc.

I had brunch with a friend and his infant. The staff were attentive. Indeed, quite charming. I ordered croque monsieur. Which was truly rather delicious. The lovely local young waitress, however, insisted that the pronunciation was MoN Sure. Which amused me.

Stopped here for an impromptu lunch and the waitress was so accommodating for us and our baby, food was delicious

A little slice of France in Godalming

A low score for atmosphere - only because it was a quiet lunchtime session seemingly! The waitress was lovely and looked after us 3 grumpy old men very appropriately. Great food as ever, the steaks were spot on medium rare and the coq un vin was good.

Went for dinner on a Tuesday evening in November, not busy, but very slow service, it was nearly an hour before main courses arrived. Food was quite good but no excuse for such slow service. A shame really as previous visits have been ok.

Very poor meal all round. Usually our go to place when meet friends/family, won't be going back again. All around our table was covered in cobwebs (not left over Halloween decorations) waitress wiped them away with a napkin and said it was an old building. Very prompt on drink orders then had ever such a long wait for our food order to be taken. When the food came it was very poor, luke warm and tasteless. That was all 5 peoples orders. 3 courses each and not one enjoyable including side orders. Never used to have a problem here, it was always delicious and packed full of flavour tonight bland and very unenjoyable. Highly regret not wanting to complain in front of the 3 other tables booked in. We won't be returning again.

Very disappointed with my breakfast for the second weekend in a row at Cote Godalming, their consistency has gone down. Last weekend I ordered the vegetarian breakfast, it arrived minus the grilled tomatoes and the equivalent of two teaspoons worth of smashed avocado minus the chilli. The table next to us ordered the same vegetarian breakfast which looked considerably different and much better than what I ordered. Decided to try breakfast there again today, ordered something different and left disappointed again. Smashed avocado on sourdough, with poached eggs, chilli and toasted seeds…….. no chilli, eggs hard and cold and the toasted seeds were a toasted sweet quinoa, seeds and coconut shaving mix with a faint hint of cinnamon that would be better served over fruit and yoghurt, not over avocado and eggs. Not sure we will be back which is unfortunate as Cote Godalming used to be a firm favourite of ours……….

Love the food here but our last experience was a little disappointing. Not a particularly busy night, but very slow service. I will still return and recommend.

Service was strange and made to feel quite uncomfortable. Restaurant was empty but they decided to put a large table with screaming children on top of us...food was okay.

We are regular customers at Cote and are always met with a warm welcome. All the team have a great attitude this engendered by the manager. She has a great personality. It is a pleasure for us to visit even if just for a coffee and pastry.

Lovely place to have lunch and drinks outdoors. Unfortunately we ordered a vegan burger and received a beef one instead. The mistake was fixed straight away but I had finished my meal by the time the correct burger arrived, which was a bit disappointing. The food I ordered (pictured) was delicious and I'd have it again.

As it was a warm summer day I booked a table for 4 in the outside space of Cote. I was really disappointed - there was a scruffy outdoor space with dirty tables and seats. The deck definitely needed a scrub/Karcher - it wasn’t pleasant at all and I felt the whole frontage could do with a makeover. I ordered a Tuna Nicoise which wasn’t great - a slab of seeded tuna on top of a very mediocre salad with a couple of half boiled eggs. Wasn’t great for the price!

Cote is always reliable and Godalming is no exception. Excellent menu, friendly staff, great atmosphere. I had the non alcohol Jardin Fizz made with elderflower and it was delectable. Great range of traditional dishes and some very interesting vegetarian dishes as well. Highly recommended.

Good food, good service, nice venue

Visited for brunch with my family and as always the staff are friendly and helpful, certainly no complaints there. The food though and in particular the portion sizes were hugely disappointing and leave plenty to be desired. I used to consider Cote pretty good value for money, but no longer. Doubt I'll bother visiting again.

An excellent meal in a beautifully restored venue. If you like French cuisine, it's the place for you. Good selection of wines to match the meals and delicious desserts. Also, the staff were very friendly and saw to it that we had an enjoyable time. We will definitely go again.

Rude and facetious young waiter resulted in us deciding to leave after the starter. He probably thought he was cool however a waiter constantly replying with flippant comments and joining in conversations of diners is not acceptable. Also, he leaned across me blocking the view of my mobile phone as I was reading a message (he didn’t even say excuse me) because he was too lazy to come around the table and give my wife her drink properly. Doesn’t seem as if he received any training combined with an arrogant attitude.

Food was average. Not made aware it was card only payment. We would of spent more but company new policy cost them lost sales. Cash is not welcome.

Lovely food, great service with a smile

My partner and I visit Cote in Godalming very regularly for breakfast. We are always met with a very warm welcome as soon as we walk through the door. The manager is just fantastic, she is so friendly and makes it a joy to visit. The service by the whole team is great. The food is always delicious as well. Keep up the good work!
