The food was great, and the pizzas were big. The atmosphere was lovely. The service was slow; we had to wait over an hour for our food. One of the waiters did come over to us after and apologise for the long wait.

Not quite sure why this place gets such good reviews - the food is ok but I've had much much better Italian food in lots of places, including other chains. I had bruschetta and spaghetti and tried some of the pizza. It felt very lowest-common denominator food-wise - the tomatoes on the bruschetta were pretty much tasteless for example. The pizzas are also massive - 2000 calories each. I felt it was almost irresponsible selling pizzas that large - that's the amount of calories an average woman needs in a day. They do say on the menu that you can share them, but that requires people sitting next to each other etc. My children (11 and 14) are too big for children's menus these days and wish there had been a way to get them sensible-sized pizzas!

Very good, hearty food at a reasonable price. The service is great, staff available and smiling. In addition, the restaurant is large and well maintained.

Arrived at 11.35 to a very empty restaurant. Waitress sat us down and then disappeared....the manager asked us if we had ordered at 11.50, we said no...he kept talking to the waitress who was obviously new and having trouble....we left at 12.....why didn't the manager take the order....terrible management.

What we thought would be a quick afternoon lunch turned into around two hours of waiting first to order, then for the food and then for a staff member to actually acknowledge us asking for the bill. The pizza was good but definitely not worth the wait and poor service, no explanation or apologies for the wait etc. If it had actually been busy that would be a bit more understandable, however it was almost empty.

Quiet and clean location. Food was delicious. Best pizza ever! Friendly staff and good service. Tomorrow we will be again!

I used to really like this place but today they gave us a terrible service , had to wait 20 min to just come and get our orders , I was with my 2 other friends they didn't bring all the foods at the same time my friend had to wait nearly 30 min until they bring the food and when they bring the food pasta was uncooked and when we complain about it waiter was so rude the terrible customer service so disappointed

The service provided was subpar. The food order was taken after a significant delay, and the dishes were not served simultaneously. Additionally, the staff's conduct was unsatisfactory.

Lovely Italian in Bristol. Menu was extensive and good choices for vegetarians. The portions were great value for money. Great place for group dining. All round very impressed!! The staff were friendly and service was really good.

Completely ignored at the door when I mentioned that I had reserved a table. My reservation had written that it was a birthday celebration. When it came to bringing out birthday cakes, 2 other tables had cakes brought out to them and our table was ignored. Why offer the option that you celebrate birthdays when you ignore some of your requests? Embarrassed me thoroughly because I saw my boyfriend’s face light up when the birthday rounds were done (with the song playing etc), only for us to be ignored. It made me seem like I didn’t bother leaving a request for his birthday. Offers a takeaway box for my pizza, but my waiter threw a slice of a pizza away despite there being enough space in the box. Why? If he was that annoyed at having to pack it up, I even offered to do it myself. Abhorrent service, and had the audacity to charge for service as well!!

Much smaller pizzas, not enough cheese, long waiting times, not crayons for kids. Went downhill massively.

Service has definitely gone downhill recently with it taking longer and longer to get served. The last few times we have waited for a long while, only to be told on finally being able to order that menu items are unavailable. Disappointing as the quality of food when they do have it is normally very high, but lately there seems to be a significant drop in service and stock.

Went in for dinner today, have been before and its been a great meal but was really disappointed this time. Ordered a lasagna, took 3 bites out of it and the centre was frozen solid. Gave the plate to a waiter who just took it back into the kitchen to be remade without asking anymore about it. I get mistakes happen but in the end nothing was comped off the bill and meat should been temp checked regardless twice before service.

Windows were left open, so was freezing cold due to the wind and rain coming in. No alcohol due to a licence problem, which is pretty pathetic for a restaurant, pretty sure it was due to the waiter looking only 16. Birthday music way to loud and service was terrible. Food was amazing, but this doesn't make up for everything else. Would not come back and waste my hard earned money

The food was lovely, the place is in a great location and was great to be in the sunshine. Me and my family ate outside at the corner so we weren't approached a lot but it was fine to chat a bit longer.

My friends ordered mushrooms risotto which was nice. They have the options to make the pizza for half different tastes. I ordered the nduya and artichoke, one was way too spicy as a nduya pizza and the other side was tasteless. I only ate a few bites like 1.5 slices😅 After providing the feedbacks to their staff, I still needed to pay for the service charge and the full price of pizza. They didn’t offer any refunds or discounts. lol don’t come here for pizzas if you have a better option. But it worths a go for the risotto.

FOOD TOOK LONGER THAN A FEATURE FILM. Staff forget your existence. Big group of 6, arrived pre-booked 7.30pm on a weekday and it was quiet. Should be 0 stars , NO FOOD ARRIVED, Waited 90 MINUTES (1.5hr) only for another table who arrived 20 MINUTES LATER than us to get their food BEFORE us. We walked out and went to Lona’s instead which served drinks and food in 15 minutes. I personally think deliveries were prioritised over people dining in causing this issue, saw a ton of delivery drivers arriving and leaving. Not sure where the failures are but bad reviews will keep occurring unless a change is made and improve service.

Ordered a pizza which was nice however my partner ordered lasagne. Came out stone cold in the middle so asked if we could get it heated up and they took 20mins with no apology to bring the lasagne back out, and it was still stone cold. Poor service, staff didn’t look like they wanted to even be there won’t be returning here.

Popped in around 5pm on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised on the quality and quantity of food. My only disappointment was that they had run out of green olives so black substitutes were offered which were acceptable. Overall good value for money in pleasant surroundings with great service.

Where do I start. If idiots could fly,oh my god this place would be an airport. We waited an HOUR and FORTY minutes for food, when it came, one plate has multiple hairs in it(when I say multiple it was like a barbers floor) and the other was about 2 degrees celsius. When we asked for the bill, they took 20 minutes to bring it and then had the cheek to ask us for 106 euros. Honestly had better experiences at funerals. When my friend asked for the bill the waiter wasnt appreciative of how bad the service had been and proceeded to say “we are trying our best”. Well if thats their best then jesus mary and joseph, I would really hate to see their worst. 2 words. Wont be back.

Food tasted great until I found hair in my pasta and everything what they could say to this was “oh, sorry about that” they didn’t do anything and I had to pay for it

The waiter who served us seemed to be racist. we were the only black people in at the time. we were seated and had coffee and had to wait about 20 mins before anyone arrived to take our food order. The waiter who took our coffee order ignored us, seated 2 or 3 other tables after we arrived and they were all eating before we even ordered! We were just ignored. The waiter was very rude when my fiancé spoke to him and started blaming my fiance saying we were taking too long to decide what we want....what? he didn't even acknowledge us or even ask. Coffee was terrible, my fiancé got cappuccino which looked like it was made by a toddler and my American was spilt everywhere on the saucer. It was my fiancé's birthday as well but this ruined the mood, terrible place wouldn't recommend

Walked into a practically empty restaurant, staff sat outside, chef drinking a beer, to be told we don't really have time for walk ins, (slightly rude as one was in a wheelchair). Used to be great here , never going back.

Would not recommend steak salad, tough and tasteless. However dining companion enjoyed their pasta dish. Service is good.

I’ve been there multiple times and I can assure you it’s really good. The pasta with fillet strips (orecchiette di manzo al limone) is my favourite dish! The staff is very helpful and organized.

Booked a table for Friday 3rd May, got there and it was shut... maybe gone into administration? Call before you go! Edit: walked past the other day and it was packed. Maybe a one off, or maybe they knew we were coming...

Sat outside Saturday lunchtime and ordered 2 rounds of drinks then ordered one Margarita pizza - was told they could only serve pizza outside if we ordered as a take away as they were ‘Really busy’ (half full restaurant) we said that’s was no problem we would be happy to have in take away box - then told no we couldn’t order after all as they were too busy -we could only order if we sat inside. Then sat and watched several other tables that had turned up after us being served take away pizza . Makes no sense 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

The good is good, fair price. Tiramisu is the best. Pizza dough is fresh made and can see in “open kitchen” ( not properly open kitchen). Suit for family or even a date. Nice atmosphere in evening anw. If u have dog might be seat on the table outside. Staffs is friendly even eat it or take away

Didn't get to eat and place smelled like a dirty ball pit! I was sat down by a waitress at a small table with a sofa. There was a strong odour emanating from somewhere, so I asked to be seated elsewhere. Waitress was annoyed and wasn't interested in finding me another table. I found a nicer one by a window near some other patrons. I tried to get the waitress's attention but she consistently ignored me every time. I lost my appetite and left, what a shame! Especially after a friend recommended this restaurant to me.

Our third time in this place, favourite with our boys! They love the giant pizzas 🍕 good service and ambience.

I can’t fault the food or the service as it is all incredible, but as a nice little weekend catch up/meal with an old friend we had booked to come for food at this venue for 7pm. We arrive and the whole place is shut up with no body in sight. There was no notice on the door and had no warning whatsoever from the restaurant as we even had to confirm we were still coming. It also says open online when it is very clearly shut.

Very slow service, three hours for starters and main. Felt like we were forgotten. Had to tell waiter before food was put on (we think it was forgotten). Food was OK, too big a portion, all tables had lots of food left!

Food was great! Let down by the service unfortunately. We waited 25 minute’s after ordering only for the waiter to come back and ask what we had ordered as he hadn’t put the order in. I Asked if our 1 pizza was still coming to which he replied, “it’s only been 10 minute’s” as opposed to apologising. Tall gentlemen with curly hair and Glasses. Completely ignored us from then onwards

The food and the gentleman that served me were lovely when I visited 17th April. However, I was a single party and I arrived just before the dinner rush. The manager or the gentleman that greeted me told me I could sit where I wished, however when I selected a table at the back he advised me I couldn’t sit there due to a booking. By the time I’d finished the party for the booked table had still not arrived. I appreciated I had probably finished faster than he had anticipated but his overall tone and manner was quite abrasive and off putting

The food was 'okay'. Although it was nice, I didn't feel like the pasta I ordered was restaurant quality and could have been something I could easily have made at home with a stir-in sauce. It wasn't the treat I was hoping for. We were also not particularly happy to be shown to a table situated directly next to the toilets, despite the restaurant being over half empty. Otherwise, the rest of the service was good.

My husband and I came to this restaurant for the first time. We came to Bristol to celebrate out our one year wedding anniversary. First everything was alright. We got seated and ordered 2 pizzas. We weren’t told that the pizzas were going to be huge. I asked the server if I could talk to the manager who came to our table 1 min later. I explained to him that we didn’t know that the pizzas were huge and that when two people come in to eat at the restaurant and order 2 pizzas they should alert the customers that the pizzas are very big. As I have been working in hospitality for a decade, such as restaurants, bars, cafes etc, I didn’t want to make it a big deal and be a “Karen” but just to let them know that it would be nice to alert the customers because I would if I were working there as I did and do at all the places I worked at. The manager said that we could takeaway the left overs and just reheat it at home and that the restaurant is very famous and that we should’ve known that the pizzas are big. I pointed out that we are staying at a hotel and it doesn’t have a fridge to store the leftovers nor does it have a microwave. In the end the manager was not apologetic whatsoever. And my husband and I decided go give the leftovers to homeless people. After we asked for the bill which another server brought us. We decided not to pay for service charge because the service was very poor. The server asked us the reason why and we told him the same thing we told the manager. We were told that it’s not the best interest of the restaurant to advise customers that the pizza is big because otherwise the customers wouldn’t spend as much. In addition, he also said that they serve 200 people a day and that they don’t remember to alert customers about the pizza size and he also said that when he sees that someone is British (as my husband) he doesn’t say anything but when customers are foreigners he sometimes do. Anyway not good service at all.

Lovely restaurant and great price for portion size! Food quality seems good but I don't think I ordered the best options on the menu and can imagine the less complicated pizzas are amazing! My partner LOVED the carbonara, but the special we had of the Caesar pizza wasn't our favourite. Would definitely go back but would try something different!

Family meal for Mothering Sunday - slightly worried about some of the poor reviews but all was good. Shown to table and drinks order promptly taken and delivered. Food took about 15mins and we impressed by the quality and size of the portions.

We went around 4 pm and our food arrived an hour later. Service was slow at that time. The glasses stank so much we couldn't really drink our water. The food was excellent tho and portion size is huge. They do serve halal chicken as well, just ask for it. Do double check your bill because they overcharged my friend 2 pounds. It's a really big restaurant with tasteful food just need to work on service probably.

Starters was good. Decent quality antipasti meat and breads. But real problem with the actual cooking. Pizzas and pastas was very salty. Predrenched with oil. And cheese. But a bad mix. The tomato paste used was salty then only tiny amount of mozzarella and Buffalo cheese and lots of salty blue cheese and hard cheese. Frankly it gave two out of six of us stomach upsets afterwards. Service was good waiter was helpful but the actual chef clearly just can't cook

Horrible experience here. First, no one will entertain you for atleast half an hour so please be prepared before you walk-in this restaurant. We waited for almost 25 mins before someone took the order. After placing an order I asked extra toppings(broccoli) in my pasta. To my surprise what I found was only the stalks of the broccoli, not even a single flower of broccoli could be seen. I didn't even complain for that. Later on they charged extra for tha Pasta. (Higher than what was mentioned in the Menu) plus extra for toppings as well. When I complained about it they returned my money and one of the waiters was so rude and was sarcastic for asking back my money. if you are planning to visit this restaurant make sure you check the Bill at the end. They charge you extra and are quite rude about it. Me and my friends are Never going back again. Pathetic service and disgusting people serving there.

She was really rude and abrupt from the minute she seated us, all the way through to the end of the meal when we requested compensation for the late meal. She screwed up the receipt in front of us, sighed loudly and walked away. She then sent a colleague with the revised bill who was apologetic. I can’t help but think that this service was because we are a young couple. Avoid this place at all costs!!! We will NOT be returning!

So pizza was undercooked and staff was rude the pints were awfully poured and to top it off they added a service charge at this place, so paid £8.50 for them to bring the food I paid for to my table so I never left a tip, I think this is just rude and cheeky to add nerley 10 pounds to a bill for no reason at all, I will definitely never go here again place has gone down hill so badly last few years but to start adding service charges as if we were in America is a joke the staff get paid a wage end of the day should be up to customer to leave a tip not be forced to pay a service charge of 10 pounds to bring food that has been paid for and a waiter/waitress has been paid wage for too still add a service charge proper cheeky place and people should think before coming here if it's reasonable to be forced to pay in this way.

Food good in general as expected there, but perfect service. All staff very attentive, and despite being 11 people, food didn't take to long to be served. Greek waiter went above and beyond to accommodate our request for a special occasion. Than you very much!!

I ordered from here on deliveroo and not only was I missing an extra that I requested the pizza looked awful and for £22 a complete rip off.

Some of the best Italian food. The pizzas and pastas are delicious. The appetizers and desserts are great too. Love the tiramisu.

We had pre booked for a visit on a Sunday afternoon with grandchildren. We weren’t shown to our seats and the member of staff just pointed in the general direction of an empty table. We had to clarify (from a distance) that we were sitting at the right one. Nobody came to take the drinks order and my wife had to go and speak to a staff member three times to get this done. No children’s menu was offered and we had to chase up on that. Sri is took an age to come out. Food service was also slow. I had a large veggie pizza which was mainly pizza base and crust. Very few of the advertised toppings were present and it was very underwhelming, not particularly tasty or memorable. We then waited ages for the bill and ended up going to the till ourselves. Should have just walked. I feel that the whole experience was very poor and won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Staff were immature messing around with each other, chewing on presumably their half eaten free lunches and also inappropriately dancing with the chef in the visible kitchen. Not very professional at all and no signs of any supervision who may have kept them in line and got them to do their job. They also had a cheek to ask for a service charge which was declined.

I have been to l'osteria the 10th of february AT 17:30. WE wanted to eat at the restaurant but the waiter told us we keep the table for the people who have booked. The restaurant was empty at this time and the waiter was very rude. Of course "all" the table of the restaurant were booked.... I will not come back.

Good pizza and spaghetti selection on the menu

The chicken on the BBQ chicken pizza as a half and half was very chewy. The other half which was the Italian sausage ham only one slice with sausage on it. Unfortunately the service was not friendly, very very slow, our waiter was asked past so many times without looking at us to get the bill. Then they charge a service charge. My last visit unfortunately.

We’ve eaten here before & we had a lukewarm welcome that time. Decided to go again due to one of our party (3 of us) being Vegan and we saw on the Website some fantastic Vegan options for the restaurants Veganuary. Plus all others enjoyed the food previously. Walked in and didn’t even get looked at by the member of staff stood next to us. We waited until they were ready. Asked for a table of 3 and were shown to a table without so much as a welcome or discussing food options. We sat and waited….The vegan eventually went up and asked about their options, which they were told weren’t available to them as per the online menu but were told things could be adapted. Totally fine, not the end of the world. And then we waited…and waited… Unfortunately where we were seated was in a busy path where servers brushed past me constantly with hot food. In fairness I had actually moved the table back an inch but only because the couple next to us uncomfortably moved their seats when we sat down because we were very close together. We still waited… Partner eventually caught the eye of the server and asked them to come over, they acknowledged us, then proceeded to go to do another job, joke with colleagues and disappear into another section of the restaurant. Our original server took orders from 2 other tables, who came in after us. At this point we just got up and left. Shame as the food we had previously was lovely. No issue with that. Hopefully just a bad day but not great for us. Ce la vie! Went to Cote next door and the food and service was fantastic.

First of all, massive portions! Great tasting pizzas and pasta, nice idea to have the option of going half and half for any of the pizza options! Would definitely go back!

Really nice pizza selection, great pasta dishes and good selection of desserts. All the drinks what I have tried so far have been great - beer, wine, cocktails. I have been to this place now couple times with friends, with work colleagues, with family and every time it’s just been superb. The service is sufficient, I have never had any issues with wrong order. It sometimes can get quit busy but it defiantly is worth waiting. The pizzas have different sizes, some of the pizzas are huge so it can be challenging, but then there is always option to take it home. Staff is really friendly and nice to talk to and they have really good knowledge about our of the menu. It’s been always pleasure to come here and relax with delicious food and drinks.

The spaghetti carbonara was simply divine. The prawn zucchini noodles offered a balanced vegetable nutrients we need following the cream carbonara. The meal was completed with mini dessert with the taste of tiramisu and panna cotta.

Great food and atmosphere overall, but one downside is that the waiting time is quite long.Great value for brilliant food!

Staff very friendly, disappointed by restricted menu

Went tonight, staff is very friendly, supportive, and hard working (she has short curly hair and approx 150cm height). I didn't order the pizza cuz it's HUGE but looks tasty!!! They are giving generous portions of food (near/slightly above average).

Fab, nice place, great staff and delicious pizza - what's not to love?

I received the pasta! The pasta was chewy, the sauce was delicious, you could sprinkle cheese on it freely, there was so much that one person couldn't finish it all, and the price was only 8.9 pounds! I think this is one of the best value for money restaurants in the UK. It was really delicious!

Having visited L’Osteria, Bristol over 10 times with no complaints, we were both very disappointed to find the service and food to have gone downhill at our recent visit. It appeared the staff had changed and professionalism dropped. Sadly our experience has put us off wanting to return. We decided to stop in for lunch this afternoon, as we’d not visited for a while. I will highlight that upon arrival, the restaurant was very quiet with only 4 other tables of 2 in at the time. Firstly, the welcome wasn’t the best as we were greeted and led to our table in awkward silence. My partner ordered a pizza and I ordered the Calzone. We also ordered a garlic pizza bread as a side to share. My calzone was bought out while the server explained that my partners pizza would be delayed as they’d burnt it so we’re having to make a new one. My calzone had a big burnt patch on top, but the rest that was visible seemed to be fine (which soon turned out not to be the case). I waited for my partner to received his food, with no apology for the delay by the server. We started with the garlic pizza bread which was overcooked and resembled a giant crisp. My partners pizza was bland, dry but edible, not at all like it’s been in the past. I started to eat my calzone but it just tasted like charcoal and the inside was dry. I then discovered turning it over that the entire base was burnt. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, no one checked in to see how our food was. The server would occasionally glance at the burnt food left over my plate while passing by tending to another customer, but would walk away. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish my food as it was too burnt. We sat finished, waiting for 20 minutes for someone to come clear the table / check in on us, but it was apparent that the servers didn’t want to address the issue, made clear by my plate left full of burnt food. We even had them walk past and look back at our food on 3 occasions, only to walk away ignoring our table. Once we’d accepted that we were being ignored, we got up to leave and had to find a staff member on our way out. I politely explained to them that we had been finished for 20 minutes and no one had come over to check on us to see if the food was ok, to offer drinks or clear the table. I told them that the food and service was just not acceptable and that my food was inedible as it was all burnt, and that I didn’t agree with paying for it. However, despite apologising, they didn’t say a word, walked over to the till and printed the bill and just said ‘I’ve removed service charge, 10% off’. So I still ended up paying £32 for one dull pizza and 2 soft drinks (as that’s all that was edible). We left with no apology, or acknowledgement. Sadly a wasted outing.

The blonde girl who greets people at the entrance is rude and doesn't want to work, I entered the restaurant, she didn't even say hello, she looked at me badly, I asked for information and she didn't answer me, we left immediately.

Hi, went there for my grandson's birthday, 4 going teenagers, they all had pizza wich were huge!! I'm not a great fan of pasta, but the duo dessert was amazing, staff brilliant, we had a great evening,,

Looove the food. Pizza was great and huge, I add few ingredients to my basic margherita pizza and I love it . Pizza crust was great and ingredients fresh . Pasta we order was big portion and we get parmesan in small jar so you can add whether you fel like it, red sos with meat was delicious. Waitress was great as well, very friendly and helpful, we laughed together at some stuff, she was so nice people person . Atmosphere was great, romantic and quiet. Each table had small candle it was great. Generally we were very happy and impressed with big portions and small prices. I will be back to this restaurant, we love it. Edit. I forgot to add of you don't eat something they will provide you with boxes to take your leftovers home :)

I go often to eat with a friend and our children. They always try to give us a table in a quiet area, since when we go, the children are usually asleep and we greatly appreciate this gesture, plus, it is also an area where we do not bother anyone with the pushchairs. The service is fantastic and efficient, always checking if we need anything. The food is delicious, especially the pasta and pizza, and although it takes a little while sometimes to arrive, the wait is worth it. We will continue going to eat and of course, it is a place that I will recommend to friends and family.

It was our 1st time eating out in Bristol since we moved here from London. We had a wonderful lunch: the food was absolutely delicious; the service was excellent - every waiter was polite, friendly & approachable; the premise is very clean, comfortable, accessible for disabled, elderly customers, family-friendly & even dog-friendly! We definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Great pizza, delicious and big. We went with our dog and got a cosy table in their dog-friendly area. We've been served by a very kind asian looking lady. Although we enjoyed the food, I think it's the whole experience that makes your evening great. Thank you l'Osteria.

First time in this restaurant and probably the last !!!! Very rude server waited for at list 15 minutes to waitress come to us . The restaurant wasn’t busy at all . We order pasta was full of oil we cannot finish our food !!!! Very sad

Beautiful restaurant with sufficient distance between the tables, so that each customer has his privacy. Hearty portions and all well-cooked and delicious. The closest thing to an Italian pizza, with thin dough, without a lot of oil, few and good ingredients with many combinations. It is worth trying the tomato soup, it pleasantly surprised us. Unfortunately, the sweets didn't say much, so the one star was lost. Finally, a spotless shop with well-kept toilets.
