We have been here a few times while visiting family. Bearing in mind this is a charity venue run by volunteers it is not a fine dining experience. However the service is friendly and the food is good quality home cooking, ranging from beans on toast through all day breakfast, quiches, pies and salads to full roasts and a good selection of home made cakes.

We called in for some lunch on Sunday but once I’d smelt the roast I knew exactly what I was having. We had Roast Chicken with cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots and Yorkshire pudding all served with a delicious gravy. Oh my word it was absolutely amazing. Reminded us of my mum’s legendary roasts. Apparently the cook is new. NEVER let her go. Thank you so much and all for a good cause too. Finally the staff were so friendly too. Wish I could give you a 6!

Went for a birthday treat for a family member as have been several times previously, even when it's busy it's not noisy and the prices and service are good - staff are friendly and helpful. Being as it's a charity, you can buy the things that are on show in the tea-room so it's good for Lord Whiskey and good for the visitors, too.

It's off the beaten track but well worth seeking out. The breakfast option is the best I have had in a long, long time. Two perfectly cooked eggs, a pair of quality sausages ( not supermarket cheapest ) fresh tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, nice bacon and perfectly cooked fried bread. It comes with a cup of tea and is a great choice to start the day.I will definitely visit it again.

We went for dinner today with our in-laws and friends and the tea rooms was very busy indeed but nevertheless the range of food and service were outstanding. We are a mixed bunch and ate everything from beef in red wine to vegetarian curry and it was al lovely. The coffee from the new machine was outstanding. We all also had puddings and the cake was homemade and very very tasty. The setting is amazing with lovely gardens and open countryside all around plus inside the tea rooms there are jams, cards and bric a brac to buy to support the charity. I really cannot fault this place and we will certainly be back soon. An added bonus is the tea rooms are Covid safe and had sanitiser and a one way system in place.

This is more than a venue for lunch (no dinner service) but a charity shop, a place to unwind, and a home away from home for family gatherings and small parties. Several friends of mine invited me there yesterday. They said there was a new chef under new management that was worth trying. The menu was relatively simple but sufficent to offer a range of starters, mains and desserts. The food was indeed well presented and delicious, all at reasonable price. It was nice to look around the charity shop, which formed the integral part of the dining hall, after the meal and to spend some relaxing time in the surrounding open field before leaving. An excellent place to chill out.

We love supporting this animal charity and how better to do that than spend some time and money by eating in their Lovely quaint Tea-Rooms. It is called a Tea-Rooms, but has the hallmarks of a good restaurant too, serving roast dinners and specials along with all day breakfasts, omelettes and jacket potatoes just to mention a few dishes. Speaking to one of the chefs there are plans to innovate a Carvery at some point in the future too.We chose a simple lunch of omelette and chips and it was delightful. Sipping my tea afterwards, I couldn't resist getting up and browsing the charity shop bric-a-brac wall, and as always, purchased several pieces for the knock-down price of £2. I also indulged in buying a jar of onion marmalade though I could have happily brought several more jars of jam etc.One of the things I like about eating here is the atomsphere. Dogs are allowed in and as a result customers are chatty and friendly from the outset. Along with the friendly staff too, it makes the whole experience cosy and comforting.

My wife and I have been attending the Tea Rooms on and off for a number of years. The food had been good but then went down hill for a while. Yesterday we attended to have lunch, we had a Steak and Kidney Pudding with vegetables. The pudding was cooked to perfection and very tasty, the vegetables were slightly underdone for my pallet but my wife enjoyed them. I was informed by a staff member that a new chef had started, I would say keep hold of him because the quality was good. The service was very good and friendly. Well worth a visit and we will be going again in the near future.

I visited here a few months ago on a Sunday morning for breakfast. There were six starving adults but we were informed there was a new chef and she wouldn’t do breakfast. We were very disappointed as we’ve been coming to The Lord Whiskey for years. Come forward to today. Again, we went to The Lord Whiskey in anticipation that either the chef would be more experienced and able to do breakfast (just two of us this time) or that it would be a different chef. Oh dear, same chef different excuse - this time there wouldn’t be enough rings on the cooker!Sadly, once again, the charity is deprived of much needed funds because of one person. This needs to be addressed as clearly things are not what they should be. If you’re advertising breakfast you need to provide breakfast. I can see from recent reviews that something has gone very wrong with the tea room. We’re not local but have been regular visitors when in the area and have made donations in the past. I don’t think we’ll be returning any time soon.

We have visited Lord Whisky tea rooms many many times for different purposes. We have held functions there including my father’s wake and the service was outstanding. The staff are warm, friendly animal lovers and your dog is allowed in with you when you eat. There is a wonderful atmosphere in the tea rooms as there are always wonderful books to buy to help the animal sanctuary and a wide range of fantastic bric a brac and jams and cakes to buy at very reasonable prices. We would recommend the Tea rooms for small functions like a family celebration, a special birthday, a wake, a wedding even. Also we highly recommend fish and chip Fridays and Sunday roasts. Tea in a real tea pot and china cups is a real bonus and the cakes are lovely, many cyclists stop off en route to recharge their batteries. The tea room is set in lovely gardens with a duck pond and nearby wood walks and cycle routes. Get down there and have a great experience whilst helping this amazing charity

Lots of nick-nacks on sale, all proceeds going towards a worthy cause. On our first visit we had the homemade cheese scones and tea. Delightful. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Plenty of time to browse and buy any of the items on sale whilst there. Our second visit was their specialty Friday night fish supper. We had the beer battered cod, chips and peas. The fish was very fresh and the beer batter tasted amazing. Generous portions too! There is a very homely atmosphere in these tea rooms and the staff work hard to make sure your meal is perfect. Haven't been to the tea rooms for about 8 months. The tea was lovely, the cake was O.K but nothing special. What I was most surprised at was how they have pushed so settings/ sittings into the room itself. There used to be enough room to negotiate around the tables but now you have to get up to allow people to pass. The food is still homemade but I like a bit of space to eat. Oh well, at least it goes to a good cause so can't blame them for putting in more tables for profit.

I have to say since having my baby, I’ve been here twice, and it’s the most unwelcoming place I’ve felt being a Mum. The first experience, I had to change my baby on the floor of the toilets as there are no baby changing facilities available. (A mat you can place on the floor is kindly leant against the wall of the ladies toilets. That’s the extent of it). When booking with a high chair, there is no mention that there is no designated baby changing facilities. The second time I came I just didn’t bother trying, as I was advised that a table can be moved into the ladies loo if I don’t want to change her on the floor. We were kindly given a high chair as requested. However the type of high chair provided, my daughter is just ever so slightly still too small for (she is 13 months-the straps just don’t hold her in enough, not a fault of the pub, just a generic high chair that we aren’t quite ready for, in some places we’ve been the straps have been secure enough but sadly this one was not). So I decided to get my pushchair in and use that for her to sit and eat in so she’s safely secure. When it came to the attention of the staff that I was going to get the push chair, I have to say I have never been made to feel more of an inconvenience than I was today. Since having my child. I was met with comments “you’re going to get your push chair!?” Like it was a travesty. And then met with an enormous amount of comments, looks and whispers and fussing around me, about how this was going to take up too much room, we’d inconvenience other guests (may I add no one came to sit at the table we were next to at the time for the entirety of our stay!?), there was ample room for someone to sit and not be anywhere near the pram. But instead we had to take all our things and move…right in the doorway!? Where the pram was then right in the way of everyone coming in and out or passing to the main restaurant. I have never been treated so poorly in any establishment since becoming a Mum. It’s played on my mind all day and quite frankly I feel humiliated. I wish I’d known this before coming and I won’t be going again, and I want to as a Mum, let other Mums know. And give the restaurant a chance to accept my feedback and maybe make small changes to be more welcoming to mums with small children. There was another family with a baby in a pram across the way, I don’t think they received the same treatment, but I would stress this is not a baby friendly restaurant at all at the moment. My advice as a mother, is if someone calls to advise of a baby on the booking, advice them that there are no baby facilities, even if you have plans to add it in, it’s not there now and changing a baby on the floor is not acceptable or sanitary, bringing in a table without relevant safety features is equally not acceptable. In addition, be aware that some people may be bringing a pram as well as the need for a high chair. Every mother has a different scenario they bring when going out with their children.
