Longs Bar in Swindon

Although busy we were seated quickly so that was a positive. However after taking our order for x4 light snacks (cheesy chips/halloumi fries etc) and a cocktail each, we still had not received anything after 40 minutes! When the food came we asked if the drinks were also coming to be told our drinks had been served to the wrong table! Also when the food came there was an error with the food and a member of the group had to then wait another 15 minutes after which everyone else had finished. So after 55 minutes 3 of us finally got our food and we all had our drinks. Due to the delay we had to push back our reservation elsewhere which luckily they could accommodate us.

This review keeps being taken down as I’m guessing the owner keeps trying to remove it!! Staff are really bad, it’s like they are in there own private party The food is nice enough but your staff seem more occupied playing with each other, one actually rolled up a serviette and launched it at another, but it landed near us. This place needs a manger to make the so slow bar staff work and not flirt and bring a professional attitude. Wish the business owner had been here to witness what they are paying for. Not usually shocked but the tall reddish blonde bar man with a fringe needs a lot of training, you don’t eat sweets, sing kids songs, put your hands down your trousers, while you yawn and poor drinks at a purposely slow pace - it’s 16:30 on Saturday the 14th Sept if you want to check who’s working

One person on bar/restaurant, which would be fine had it not been for a table of staff members (possibly off-duty) congregated in a seating area behind the bar. They “may” have been off-duty but seems a strange place to set-up a HQ for all to see and hear. Once more, they seemed to be receiving VIP treatment, chatting openly about work, having drinks made & brought to them whilst customers were left waiting. My main bugbear was witnessing them vaping indoors. Completely unprofessional and somewhat shady. If this is going on during the day, makes me wonder what goes on during the evenings. Not somewhere you wanna bring the family. Food wise, it’s sub-par pub grub but definitely not restaurant standards. Interior needs updating and atmosphere is dark and gloomy.

Shocking attitude from staff. Asked for a small taste of the wine. Was told management decision they are forbidden to give a small sample. We queried what manager but was told it’s the owners decision. We told them we will leave ordering any drinks and never return. Have never ever known a bar or restaurant to refuse trying the wine. It was priced by glass and not the bottle too. Place was empty. Hardly surprising. Went and spent our money in another bar in Old Town.

I wanted to order a bottle of wine which was served by the glass so I asked to try it, apparently management have decided no wine can be tried! Never have I in my 50 years been told you cannot sample a wine before purchase, so basically you order a glass and if you don’t like it you lump it! You cannot order at the bar, as it was we waited ages for service. I feel I should mention the filthy and smelly toilets now, I would ‘t have gone on here to dis the toilets but the whole place is dirty and grubby and run by unprofessional idiots. I will never ever return to this hovel, poorly run establishment,

Very small steak with non existent chimichuri (unless the pile of dry chopped veg was it) . Definitely wouldn't recommend

Went to order a drink at the bar, to be told to find a table and they’d come to us. Found a table, waited.. Waited. Went to the bar again ‘Find a table’… Waited some more. The staff were not busy and were more interested in chatting to each other. Not bothered about customers. Oblivious! Wouldn’t bother! Im afraid we won’t be returning, much nicer bars to choose from in Old Town.

went for a family lunch with small childern and staff were so friendly and playful with the babies, Liam took care of us and made us feel like we were no trouble when the kids were loud. lovely place to go and sit in the conservatory with the sun shining

Upon arrival a surly young girl told us to sit down as you are not permitted to stand at the bar, slightly strange start. There are copper style tables which smell like wet dogs and black came off it onto my white blouse. The waitress hovered over us, hurrying us to make a decision as to which cocktails we wanted to order, she was very impatient and indeed rude when we asked for a few more minutes, tutting as she walked away. The cocktails were ok but the wine was cheap and warm. We ordered pizzas which were sloppy and undercooked. We will not be returning.

Arrived with 4 business colleagues and got shown to our table. Then waited and waited and waited. Complained to a very young waitress and her attitude was shocking. We all walked out. Please don’t bother going here. Choose one of the much better bars in Wood Street.

The place is ran by teenagers. No consideration for their guests and to be honest they have no idea what they’re doing. The waitress was rude, it ruined our experience

What an atmosphere !! We met as a family to watch the FA Quarter finals over lunch. something hard to find a suitable venue for to suit all parties involved. We found it ! Longs, absolutely great place to meet, lovely space with funky décor and TV screens, without being rowdy or too grown up! The venue had a real buzz about it, the staff were amazing, professional yet friendly and attentive. We will definitely be booking to have a bottomless brunch visit soon, they looked fantastic!

Celebrated a hen party at longs bar. There was 11 of us for bottomless brunch and can not fault the service we received, Staff were very attentive and helpful before we arrived with enquires via email, We had an issue on our part when arrived but the staff were excellent and accommodating. Food was lovely and drinks were good quality and flowing fast. Staff were very friendly and looked after us well. Definitely excellent value for money.

Went here for a drink with my wife. Were shown to a table and ordered some drinks. A hen party arrived on the table next to us and after a while we were asked if we wished to move to a quieter area and we said we were fine. Then an intimidating bouncer said we had to move as this area is reserved (which it was was not). I wouldn't recommend this bar as they are not fair to their customers.

Table service was excellent, meaning that I didn't have to queue for a drink at a packed bar. Drinks arrived very quickly and the staff were friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and will definitely return.

If you’re looking for a Christmas party with family/friends/colleagues and you want to be sat amongst loud drunk people, in almost darkness and unable to hear because of the loud music.. then this is the place for you. Unfortunately this was not the Christmas party we had imagined. I cannot fault the staff at all and Liam was amazing, but unfortunately on the night our seating location was a massive flop. We were seated on a high bar table which is not only uncomfortable to sit on stools but also isn’t very practical when you’re a big group of 9 and you’re trying to eat a roast dinner. Really really disappointed and upset with the evening and unfortunately this resulted in us leaving early and finding somewhere else to go

In line with other reviews, the service in here is awful. We had been in the place for 20 minutes before being able to place a drinks order which then took a further 20 minutes to arrive. Subsequent orders were sometimes impossible to make as we could not find any staff and it’s not permitted to order at the bar. The table service concept would probably work well if the serving staff were attentive and available to take orders. In its current format it clearly isn’t working

Arrived for a pre dinner drink as we had a table at a nearby restaurant 35 minutes later. Very polite doorman told us it was table service and went to find us a table which he did. We sat down, had to ask for a drinks menu which we got from a nice young waitress who said she be back to take our order. We never saw her again. After 20 minutes of trying to order from male waiters all of who said they’d send someone over, we gave up and left because we had no time now to drink anything even if we had managed to order. Top tip: don’t go if you’re thirsty but on the plus side it’s a cheap night out if you don’t buy anything 😂

Please don't waste your time here, it is rubbish service and the Longs bar management is miserable. I have visited Longs bar for dinner on a Thursday evening. There were only few people. Music was extremely loud and the staff treat you like you are there to waste their time. I have been requested to take a seat as it is only table service. After waiting for around 40min I had to leave as no one bothers to take the order. It is almost as if they don't want any customers there.

Met a group of friends for a few drinks and some food on a Saturday evening. Not really sure if this place is trying to be a nightclub or a bar... it fails miserably at both. The music is too loud to have a conversation with anyone, yet not allowed to stand up/dance like a nightclub. We'd finished our first round of drinks, so I went to the bar to order another round. Was told that it was table service only. I said that's fine, but we were not getting any table service. A waitress then approached me at the bar, so I ask her if I could order via her. Apparently I had to be sat down to order my drinks and couldn't do it via her despite her having a tablet & card machine on her. I sat back down, and waited another 10/15 minutes before another waitress came over and took our order. Once we finally received our drinks, our old glasses were not taken away. We then decided to order food. The waitress came back saying one of choices was out of stock. Our next two choices were also out of stock, so settled on something we weren't particularly happy with. Toilets weren't partially clean. In addition, there was a toilet attendant selling lollipops/aftershave sprays... normally something expected in a nightclub, not in a tiny toilet where he completely takes up one of the two sinks setting up all his merchandise. Overall not a positive experience, unsure why there was a huge queue of people outside when we left.

Three times, yes three! Straight out of no where this same doorman shoved me into other punters including females. On the first instance I was apparently leaving the smoking area still holding a cigarette. Non clear partitioning of the smoking area and a general error...

What can I say about Longs?This has become my favourite place on Earth, no word of a lie. The atmosphere, the drinks and the staff make Longs the most popular place in Old Town. I’m the type of person who will leave their shopping if the queue in Primark is too long but I’ve queued at Longs for over forty five minutes and it’s been worth the wait. Not only are the staff covid safe, they’re also extremely welcoming and friendly. When I was unsure on cocktails to have, they guided me with what I like! They were kind, funny and good at what they do.Will be back again and again and again.

I visited Longs Bar for the Euros final in July. I was really disappointed to walk in and see the segregation of men and women. All the women were shoved downstairs in a corner with a small tv and all the men upstairs, outside with the big screen. The door staff admitted that the management had asked for this arrangement. We spoke to the manager and he was rude and condescending, denying everything the security had told us (even though it was extremely evident).It was my birthday and we were so shocked by the prejudice, that it only felt right to leave before the match even started. Please scroll down to see further reviews. There has quite evidently been a review incentive in the last week to hide reviews of the women that visited Longs bar that day. The cocktails are ok but not great, and the food is average at best.

Refreshed decor which is definitely an improvement, if I was being critical there are a couple of areas that need attention to detail like the planters and decking. However, the staff were extremely welcoming and the food was excellent. We visited lunchtime and both burger meals were loaded with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Would go for food again anytime. Well done chef and serving staff.

Went to long last weekend to celebrate my mums birthday along with my sister and my girlfriend… had a brilliant evening! Staff were on point ensuring we were comfortable and well refreshed during our stay! After we had finished our food we requested to move tables as we had a few more guests join so moved us outside in-line with COVID guidance. Had a brilliant time with my family, however always a good sociable experience with mates too! Swindon needs more bars like Longs!!

Myself and a couple of friends visited Longs last Saturday. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Liam who turns out to be one of the managers and he found us a table very quickly. Within 5 minutes of us sitting down we were seen by a friendly waiter! Drinks- Where can I start, very reasonable in price and a good selection of drinks. Where Longs came into their own was the cocktails. By far the best cocktail bar in town, they know their stuff and have a great range of cocktails! Food- As a starter we had the blackened chicken and halloumi, Mac and cheese bites and the crispy duck rolls. For mains we had The Benvolio Bad Boy Burger, The Hero Burger, Fish And Chips and The Ranch Bbq Pizza. Starters came out pretty quick and within 10 minutes of finishing our starters, the mains came out. The food was to die for and it left us wanting more! The bar- Great location and it has a cheeky little sun spot out the front and in the garden. The bar has clearly had a make over during the pandemic and it looks like a very stylish and modern bar. The garden has also had some work done to it and it looks a million times better. The staff were so helpful from start to finish and they made us feel very welcome considering they were very busy! One thing that really impressed me was how on top they were with all their cleaning checks and general cleanliness around the venue. Top work by all the staff and their Covid awareness is on point. Top work guys and keep doing what you’re doing!

Have visited multiple times recently for different occasions and have found that every time it has been spot on and deserved praise.Roast on a Sunday? Fantastic. Want a bar to watch football in a great garden? Smashed it. Want a night out with partner or friends and have a few cheeky cocktails? This is the place. Great food, atmosphere and drinks. Can't say much more about it really. If you haven't been, check it out!

Been to this venue a many number of times and can honestly say it is one of the best venues in Swindon. Has a fantastic outside area, with its own TVs which was great for the euros, really friendly and welcoming staff that are very approachable. Great choice of food and drinks, my wife raves about their cocktails and loves a girls night there.

Went for a date night with the girlfriend- prices were fair and the 2-4-1 cocktails had a nice selection. Had a few nibbles from the menu and they were all nicely Presented and went down a treat.Staff and management were spot on and very friendly and service was fantastic. Will definitely be going back

After not being in since January 2020, the new refit looks amazing and love the new menu's. Was pleased they were able to set us for our girlie catch up! What an amazing time we had, was able to book a table easily and when we arrived we were shown to our table. Over the course of the afternoon/evening we had the most fantastic server who accommodated us whole heartedly. We were going to have the Sunday roast but given that it is so popular and very tasty it was all gone (note to self pre book the roast). However, we ordered pizzas and asked for some fries too, normally they don't do fries on a sunday however, the lovely server spoke with the chef and they brought out some fries! The pizzas tasted amazing and the side dip you got with them was delicious!!! Our server (Sarah) offered recommendations based on some of the drinks we said we liked. Our time there was so enjoyable we stayed longer than we anticipated. Music and atmosphere was really good, played a variety of music and at a level we were still able to talk. We've already made plans to go back for another girlie catchup! Will definitely remember to pre book the famous Sunday Roast this time. Keep up the excellent work during these trying times! Your staff are a great credit to your bar!

Longs is a lovely venue, that meets the needs of all its customers. From a fun night out with your friends, to Sunday lunch with the kids. Service with a smile, everyone is always friendly and more than happy to help. Food is always top notch and one of the best places in Swindon for a roast! Couldn’t recommend it enough.

I’d be In This place all the time if I could. Always the best experience when I’ve gone, even by myself for a quick bite and drink.

Thank you to all the staff at Longs for always making our nights/days out the best. The atmosphere is 2nd to none. Friendly staff, great food and very accommodating and the cocktails, well just wow. We’ve had several of them. I have been in several times over the last couple of months and each time has been amazing, whether it be a Sunday funday, a Saturday night out or to enjoy the Euros. This is always a good choice of venue for me and my friends for a good catch up! We always get the 2for1 cocktails as there’s an amazing choice for all of us who like different drinks.We Love the Dirty Mermaids and Absolute Passion! If we meet there during the week we get food too which is always served hot and with a smile. Staff are always happy to assist and get any extras if needed. The table service is great with current restrictions and the staff quite regularly check to see if you need anything. This is one of our favourite places to meet up as the atmosphere is amazing and you can have a good time knowing the staff and door staff are keeping you safe. I’m a regular visitor and this review is long over due!

The worst sexist experience I have ever encountered. Attending longs for the football early doors with the intention to stay and drink all day however as we were a group of girls we we were sat downstairs in a room filled completely with other girls whilst the boys were sat upstairs in the open air. When I confronted the security that I had noticed the segregation and how poor the atmosphere and football viewing was downstairs, they agreed the segregation was purposely that way at request of the owner. The manager is patronising and lied to us about the separating. At least the security were honest enough to admit the outright prejudice. The cocktails were terrible, the food was not good. Took 2 hours to clean our table, service was terrible in the dark dingey room where the put all the girls. Avoid at all costs unless you like sexist pigs and atrocious cocktails.

A group of 6 girls have come and been placed in the back room for Euros 2020. The owner said to place all girls in the back room and the males in the garden as they’ll be more interested in football. This is a typical sexist bar.

Absolutely disgusted!Came here to enjoy the euro final with the girls and been sat in the downstairs area where there is no atmosphere. The bouncers admitted to us that the ‘lads’ got to sit upstairs and in the smoking area and the girls had to sit downstairs. WTF!!! Absolutely sexist!

The best place to get nice and creative cocktails! All taste so good! Pricing is reasonable for a student and food is very appetising!!! It is my go to place for cocktails!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do think that they believe that they were trying, from them asking a few people to move. There were tables of 8-10 people (during legal Maximum of 6) during the night.I asked a table of 8 to move away, and got abused from it, which shouldn't be my job. I think they tried, but failed, to make people comfortable during the night.I dont live in Swindon, and was shocked from the clear rules where I live.I really hope you all stay safe, just try to keep social distancing in place.

I don’t normally write reviews but I felt compelled to after the experience my mum and I had this lunchtime. From the moment we set foot in the door until the moment we left we received attentive, friendly, swift service and the food was fresh and tasty. I haven’t been to Longs in years but will definitely be back!

We visit Longs Bar regularly, usually on a Wednesday and have never encountered any problems. The bar staff are extremely professional and friendly, getting to know thier clients very quickly. We would be very happy having Longs Bar as our local. With a well stocked menu, great beers and plenty of spirits to choose from this, recently refurbished, bar is well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Thought we’d pop in for a roast - thoroughly recommend, plenty of food and very good! Two courses for £12.95 is a bargain! Love the new decor too! Will be back :)

We were here for a bite to eat before a gig at The Vic next door and the pub did the job. It's a nice place inside, large L-shaped room with a selection of booths, high stools and regular tables, with a couple of cask ales on the bar and a selection of lagers. The food is decent quality pub grub without being exceptional with good prices. Staff very friendly and approachable.

As a recent newcomer to Swindon, I have no idea where the best eating places are. It was by pure coincidence that my friend & I ended up in here. It is definitely a young persons place as we witnessed a hen & stag group as we were leaving about 6pm on a Saturday afternoon. Having said that, it was much quieter when we arrived around 2pm. We had burgers & we were both impressed so no complaints there.....thanks to Amber, the barmaid who made a suggestion which was a better one than my original choice. I would imagine it gets busy in the evenings & I probably wouldn't go then. I would love try the variety of cocktails & have another burger during the quieter times.

Went here on a sunday for a roast by the time we ordered they had ran out. so tried other menu items which were very standard. This place caters more for drinkers I feel rather than eaters on a plus my wife enjoyed the cocktails.

I’ve never had a food complaint at Longs. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff super friendly. I can only review on my lunchtime experience. It’s a very family orientated atmosphere during the day with a lovely decor.

This Pub/Bar has always been held in high regard in Swindon as a trendy meeting place that is always packed. Sadly it is now well past its sell by date, the fixtures and fittings are old with lots of slits etc. in the furniture and generally seems very dirty and uncared for. On a Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm 3 of us made up the 10 people in there.

Attracted by the promise of cask beer, we called in for a pint. It was fairly early on a Friday night and the bouncers were on the door and the music was loud. It is mainly a younger persons venue, but there was a mix of customers. The service was fine and the beer good but perhaps not the place for a relaxed meal on a Friday evening.

Popped in here on our way into new town from the old town area of Swindon.

Fish finger sandwich is a bit of a joke, all came out burnt on dry toasted bread and onion rings burnt too. It’s a poorly managed pub now which is a shame as has a prime spot.

This bar has always been a little bit pretentious but it’s current bar staff seems extremely up themselves, I have never been served by such a cocky bunch in my life. They are rude to customers, spill drinks all over the bar and customers and have no intention of serving people in any sort of order. I would personally try to avoid this bar from now on.

Used to be a good spot to visit and meet up for a beer before moving on somewhere better. Friday was cocktail launch night.

Now it's been years since I've been to Longs and granted I did go on a Wednesday. However this used to be a posh bar where people used to really dress up and go. But now I see people at night being allowed in wearing flip flops with the kind of shorts and t shirt you would wear to bed. What happened to making the effort and the dress code?

Great music. Great atmosphere. Staff were great. Good venue. Well worth a stop off during a night out.

If I could leave a zero, I would. Watching bouncers slam a man's face to the ground after pushing his girlfriend out of the bar. Then following around other customers calling them a p***y, trying to provoke a reaction in front of the police. I can see on here that this isn't the only incident of aggression shown from these bouncers. Avoid like the plague if you're interested in having a nice time.

Very crowded , well ok its Saturday. Other people got served while I waited patiently, yes its crowded.

So will keep as short as I can. Me and my family have been loyal customers for years for food and drinks as live just round the corner. Anyway was in there Saturday night and left my phone on the table at closing so as soon as I realised I asked of I could go back in to look for my phone, I went up to the bar staff and asked of the had seen a phone (I didn't recognise the staff they may be new ish or just work on a Saturday night, It was all young girls and one young guy with dark hair) they all looked at me with blank faces and just said 'no' so then I asked if they could have a look as I don't want to have lost my phone to which the guy looked at me sarcastically and laughed and said 'aww tragic' then all the girls laughed. I was so shocked I couldn't believe these are people that have actually been given jobs that require dealing with the public. Anyway this made me get a bit angry at them antagonizing me and made me think they probably had the phone. I then complained to the bouncers who seemed to be more understanding but everyone on the door just had there heads down in shame as they seemed to realise how bad I had been spoken to. I knew no-one would be able to get into my phone bacuse of the lock on it so I made that clear that night. In the morning I went in and 2 lovely ladies were in there and said they had my phone from the night before so I picked up my phone and didn't bother saying anything to them as the manager wasn't there. This is a family trip advisor account which we share and I felt like I had to make longs aware of this experience as I was very disappointed with how I was treated, also I'm a young girl and was with a large group of friends and family who are also regulars who witnessed it all. I never write bad reviews normally only good. Get rid of those immature idiots.

For a really good night in Old Town Swindon - Turn around and walk out of Longs and walk next door into Baila coffee and vinyl, where they look after their customers, have killer music and cocktails. The atmosphere there is incredible unlike in Longs bar, which is the polar opposite thanks to their terrible staff.

Lovely meet up with friends after work. Sat in the sunny conservatory room - you may need sunglasses. Good service and selection of drinks plus bar snacks and pizza. Nice.

A pleasant enough place to meet up and move on to a restaurant. Busy, slow service at times but it's a short stop venue really.

Bar decente para cócteles, más de 2 por 1, aunque el vino era bastante caro cuando compré una ronda.

Gran lugar para bebidas y el personal encantador bar domingo. No estoy seguro si no comida. La decoración es agradable y volveremos a visitarlo.

Longs solía ser uno de los lugares para ir en Swindon.

Excellent service, fantastic cocktails and a really nice atmosphere. I will be returning soon to try out their food menu.

Cocktail done with no respect for hygiene, strawberry not washed!!! You have to train your staff better! Long(s) time ago was a better place Never again !

I went here with a couple of colleagues for a business lunch and found the food good along with the service and price.

I went here on a last minute decision for a couple of cocktails in a Sunday as they're 2-4-1 all day but it was very unclean and glasses were just piled up on tables and the atmosphere wasn't all that great. I don't think I'll bother going back as it wasn't really that amazing the drinks were okay but nothing more

We visited just before six o clock and were one of maybe a dozen people in the bar. Ordered a hot dog and pizza and 45 mins later were disappointed to have to ask what had happened to the food. It turned up five minutes later, the pizza without the advertised olives and the hot dog at best tepid. Quality ok and staff mildly apologetic when we complained. No sign of anyone obviously managing the pleasant but hapless staff. Will not return.

Went here for a drink during the 2 for 1 cocktail deal, really good value and the cocktail was great. We had a coffee as well which wasn't the best but you did a a free cupcake! Was served by a very friendly girl behind the bar.

We went for a cocktail afeter work and it was really nice. Great price, nice bartenders and good atmosphere. Two for one in most of the cocktails

Went for drinks for a colleagues leaving do. The staff were incredibly slow at making cocktails and were not consistent, one round was very strong, the next was watery. One cocktail got served in a glass with a big lipstick mark on it, they initially offered to pour into another glass but we suggested it be best if a fresh cocktail was made, which took a long time to make.

My boyfriend found this place on a trip to swindon as he wanted to watch the football on a sunday and we also wanted lunch. There was a wide selection of drinks and a big food menu which was all of good quality. Even though I'm not a huge football fan I really enjoyed my sunday there.

Came here with friends for drinks on Tuesday evening. We do love cute decoration and nice atmosphere here. You could sit both inside and outside. Bar staff were friendly and polite. Customer areas and toilets were clean. Very quick services cos it was bit quiet. We had cocktails, beers, coffee and juice. They were all reasonably priced. Will be trying their food next time. Highly recommended for everyone...
