Lodestar Cafe in Brighton and Hove

Dopo una bella passeggiata lungo mare, niente di meglio di questo ristorantino, fish& chip di ottima fattura, fresco e leggermente agliate le patatine, eccellente il piatto e ottima la Camden beer. La signora che ci ha servito, a ridosso della spiaggia, davvero tanto carina e gentile. Il bagno interno, pulitissimo. Consiglio

Almorcé con la familia dos veces durante las vacaciones de Navidad de 2018 en Lodestar. Increíble - ¡a finales de diciembre y sentado frente al mar! ! El café era muy bueno. El menú de la hora del almuerzo es limitado pero fueron muy agradables. El servicio fue rápido; Las tortas de pescado eran buenas; Tanto el salmón como el bacalao. Las patatas fritas eran fantásticas. Sólo una pequeña queja fue de mi hija en que su panani de queso podría haberse derretido un poco más. Aparte de eso, genial.

Aquí hay una audiencia cautiva, así que no creo que la gerencia piense que tienen que hacer mucho para obtener ventas. Sin embargo, también hay mucha competencia por lo que podrían hacer con afilar su juego. El té que tomé era bastante decente, pero el pastel (bueno, una galleta Smartie realmente) era bastante normal. ¡Vamos chicos! Haz el esfuerzo y te limpiarás allí abajo.

Stopped here om a cold Sunday morning for a hot drink. I had a latte and my wife had a tea. The latte was ok but the tea had a dead insect floating in it. Basic hygiene seems to not be a strong point. Wouldn't go back.

Well, what can I say. Visited here on a relatively quiet Sunday morning for coffee and breakfast. The coffee was ok but as for the breakfast- it never arrived! There were 2 orders in front of ours and as it was a nice sunny day it was quite pleasant sat outside people watching. We had drank our coffee by the time the other 2 orders were brought out so we knew ours would be out soon. However, 30 minutes later we were still waiting and by this time I noticed other orders had been served. I asked where our order was and was told ‘I will look into it’ . 10 minutes later we were told unfortunately our order hadn’t gone through to the kitchen so would we like another coffee while they made our breakfast. This was obviously taken up on. The server who brought our coffees out said that he was told to ‘bring them over quickly ‘ which was the only thing that did arrive ‘quickly’. After further orders were brought out and we still hadn’t received ours, we asked for our money back as we had been waiting over an hour. We even had to tell the person behind the counter how much of a refund we should get as it seemed basic maths was beyond them. The service was extremely poor and I would advise against stopping here unless you have a whole day to waste chasing an order that will probably never arrive. How difficult was it to ensure our order was the next out after it was found our order hadn’t made it to the kitchen. To be honest I still don’t think the order made it past the till!

We stopped here for a stop and drink to enjoy the scenery and beautiful day. There is seating inside and outside (comfy chairs). Relaxing atmosphere, good value and friendly.

Today we (2) visited this cafe and looked forward to a good fish and chips lunch. Unfortunately for us it was awful and lousy value for money. 1. Plates were stone cold 2. Server held the plate between his thumb and first finger 3. Cod was grim - it was tepid, it tasted foul, the fish inside was grey not white as it should be 4.The menu stated "oven cooked" I assume this means it arrived in a plastic wrapper, frozen then put in an oven to "cook". But I may be wrong the fish may have been cooked in our old friend the microwave 5.Mushy peas soggy mess and cold 6. Huge undercooked chips, like the fish hardly hot. So £17 out of pocket we felt ripped off having had a very poor meal. The only saving grace for Lodestar was that the sun was shining! Avoid!

Stopped here for a coffee. The man who served me was friendly. I sat outside along the catwalk. I enjoyed my visit.

Stopped here for a quick lunch as it’s right on the beach, the sun was shining and it looked clean, tidy & inviting. The menu was clear, basic and value for money so we stayed and ordered. The food was good quality, nothing fancy but well presented and pleasantly served. We finished and sat for a while taking in the view and beach atmosphere. Nobody rushed us and we left when ready to rent a deckchair and get some rays.

You’re on the Brighton seafront, you expect a good fish and chips. Not a chance. The fish looked and tasted like cheap Tesco’s own brand frozen with worse dry oven cooked chips. Poor service, truly disgusting, please don’t waste your money even if it is the only place left on the whole seafront.

I ate at the outside patio of this restaurant; there was a very pleasant view of the water, the salmon cakes and chips were delicious.

We strolled along the Brighton prom and started to look for a low key cafe restaurant with some music and chose lodestar ,you are of course surrounded by fish supply and mussel dishes etc ,so my partner and I ordered fish and chips £8.95 each assuming the fish bar style would dish up basic fresh cod and chips,but no ,we were confronted with processed frozen fish we’d expect from Iceland and pre frozen chips ,sorry but it was disgusting and under the processed batter laid watery processed fish ,we also felt stung financially as just further on real fresh food was £6.95 I think we summed it up as minimum outlay max profit ,no return for us as also put up with food repeating for about 5hrs Yes the menu states “oven baked fish “but ofcourse no detail as to how low in quality a dish can go. I could not eat mine and my partner ate some because we paid £18 for it.

We stopped here on a hot Saturday afternoon and had some really nice milkshakes. Staff were ok not overly friendly but service was quick and the prices weren't too high.

Called in here on our way back from the i360,staff not over friendly, you have to go to the counter to order your meals, and they took a little while to come outcall in all not to bad.
