I booked for a party of 20, it was a set lunch for £30 - this proved to be very overpriced as there were various complaints. These were dealt with, as much as they could, by the waiting staff, the complaint is purely with the kitchen. Overall the standard of food left a lot to be desired. I wrote and complained, did not get a reply, wrote a second time, still no reply! This shows a distinct lack of courtesy towards the paying customers.

Awful customer service from the proprietor. Don’t book an event here. They cancelled our funeral wake after accepting our booking. Terrible experience, no wonder the business is struggling and it’s empty most of the time.

After a very crazy golf session which we all thoroughly enjoyed, now a lovely drink before lunch. We all made out way to the bar to order a drink, sadly only one young guy working, seemed to us all a trainee and it showed, no other member of staff to help him. I instanly knew he had not a clue about wine, when he asked if i wanted ice in it - a definite NO NO. The 14 of us had pre ordered our meal, so we chatted at the table and waited, which seemed to be ages. The food came out in dribs and drabs, unfortuantely anothe obvious trainee, as he muttered what the food was, and no one could understand him, but we got through in the end. Very disappointing as several of the orders were wrong, ladies either side of me ordered ham/cheese toastie on brown, came on white, few odd green leaves on the side, i ordered scampi and salad, no chips came with everything. We then had to ask, do you have salt/pepper/tomato sauce, he went away and came back, a lady wanted dressing for the sad looking leaves, he went away and came back. Surely if in a professional restaurant these should have been on the table before we sat down. Then another queue to pay for our meal, it took ages and ages. Overall the cray golf was a great challenge, the lunch left a lot to be desired No wonder there was a notice in the ladies loo, bar star required. I think more mature people are needed, and also to be aware of what clients expect when eating there

Went here for Afternoon Tea for 14 people as an 80th birthday celebration. The food was amazing! There was plenty of sandwiches, lots of different fillings and a variety of home made quiche. After the savory there was a variety of cakes and sultana scones. Tea and coffee was also served. It was good value for money, all the food was fresh and the service was excellent.

On Saturday, 1st July 2023, my wife and I were looking forward to visiting the Golf Club Bar for a casual lunch. It was my wife’s first visit for a meal and we both casually dropped in at 1.30pm, relieved to see plenty of vacant tables and only a few customers dining. I duly placed our orders and since the wine list did not include any New Zealand Sauvignon, I purchased 2 x 250ml glass of House wine, one red, one white, priced at £6.25 each. An hour passed as we quietly enjoyed chatting over our leisurely drink when we both realised that our food had never arrived. I checked my till receipt to ensure it had been ordered and noted the receipt was not itemised, merely providing the total amount paid £38.15. We checked the menu/drinks prices and found that we had actually been overcharged £1.50 but considered this too insignificant an error to make a complaint. However, I went to the bar to enquire about the food with the female bar maid (manager?) and then also mentioned the overcharge. She checked the prices we had itemised on the back of the till receipt and agreed the £1.50 difference. She informed me that this was due to not having any of the ‘House’ white wine “chilled” in the fridge so she had advised the young male ‘trainee’ to serve another white wine priced at £6.95 (+ £0.70), charging me the extra without even politely asking if this was O.K? I accepted her explanation regardless that no reason was given for the further £0.80 overcharge. By now 1.5 hours had passed and I ordered another 175ml drink for my wife and enquired about the food. This same female barmaid (manager?) informed me that the food order had never been passed through to the kitchen, adding, “sorry my darlings but I will get the chef to start it now”. There was no offer of even a complimentary drink to recompense us for the delay and inconvenience spoiling our lunchtime meal together, nor any offer to refund the unexplained £0.80 overcharge. I was lost for words but declined to wait any longer so we promptly left never to return for another meal. In retrospect, I find it utterly appalling that senior bar staff had arrogantly, without the knowledge of their customers, served a wine at a higher price and simply charged for it, whether or not, we actually were served a higher price wine is also questionable? I find it also utterly appalling customer service that no goodwill gesture was even offered for the long delay and inconvenience that totally overshadowed the enjoyment of our lunch together. To not provide the customer with an itemised bill is open to sloppy input of food/drinks prices that unsuspecting customers simply pay in good faith. We live fairly local and, both now retired, we frequently enjoy dining out each week, however, this negative experience serves as the loss of two potential regular customers due to their appalling customer service from ill-trained bar staff. I would recommend that all customers now CHECK THEIR TILL RECEIPT to ensure they have only been charged for the food/drinks they have actually ordered. This review was sent directly to the 'Operations Manager' at this venue on 3rd July, 2023 and not even acknowledged. Professionalism begins 'Top Down' so that is obviously lacking too.

Lovely place, super friendly and helpful. Opened the garden area as we had a small dog - after they just locked it! (Dogs not allowed inside. Ordered fish and chips which was taking quite a while. Found out why the order hadn’t gone through to the kitchen. Apologies and a free drink followed. Food came out then very quickly. Not a huge portion of food but satisfactory. Queried breakfast there and was pleased to note they provide breakfast from 8am. No problem pulling into the huge car park in our motorhome.

We used to come here quite alot, food and service always been spot on. Not been for around 3 months, so thought it was a time for a return. Went in recently with family, first of all, very quiet. Which isn't strange for this place unfortunately. The food was average, and luke warm at best. No thought into presentation at all, and bland. My partner and I barely finished what we ordered unfortunately. The young waitress was very apologetic, but that was all. After a conversion with a elderly gentleman (I presume he's a golf regular) they lost the head chef and bar manager just before Christmas, which I understand isn't ideal but 1. Alarm bells? Losing two senior staff before Christmas, has to be reasons?! and 2. Not the customers fault, shouldn't be punished for this. The young girl who served me was spot on. Not her fault. The shorter lady(presume new bar manager, walking round like she owned the place with a face on) she was working with, not interested at all, too busy chatting to the elderly lady behind reception to notice anything. At one point we thought she may have gone home she was there for so long. I used to love coming here, but new staff clearly either not up to scratch or just not interested, both is a shame.

8 of us went to have a family get together. It was slow service!!! The Restaurant and bar SUPER quiet - hard to believe it was a Christmas meal. in fact, when we got there we were told the Christmas menu was no longer available. During the first hour of the meal we received a starter only. We found out there was only one chef and only two bar staff in attendance , hence slow service. I just want to be let it be known that the staff were very good and trying their best and none of this was their fault. They were very helpful and apologetic but that did not help us. Mains and desserts, comments around the table generally that ‘it was ok.’ My salmon warm (not hot) and skin not crispy. 8oz rump steak (3 people ) came out as two 4 ounces each so that was very odd. Also it was tough to cut and eat. The veg option ( 3 people had it ) was very poor… and terrible presentation. We explained to the waitress that we were unhappy and perhaps we could come to some arrangement to have some discount on our meal. She asked the manager and came back with her sorry, all she can do is give you a free tea or coffee which we declined. This is very disappointing and not the kind of response that I would’ve expected from a place like the golf club. We have been coming here for years and had some nice meals. Bye the bye, there’re wasn’t one other person in the restaurant other than ourselves which therefore had no atmosphere, I guess this is no-one’s fault but was very strange. Following a complaint to the manager the next day, the response was to make matters worse. Basically she wasn’t interested and offered no form of recompense, not even a small gesture and tried to turn it on us. Such a shame !!!! Cannot recommend any more.

Following a family Christmas meal this week we were shocked to receive such awful service and food. Massive waste of money…..Having followed up our complaint with management we have received NO form of compensation or solution to our emails other than a “Welcome back” and our feedback being noted.!! On the night - we were told the Christmas menu would be available over the phone twice! Got there and told it wasn’t on and had to be off main menu with choice of a few special off the board. Painfully slow service!!! Restaurant and bar SUPER quiet - lack of attention and atmosphere played to our table. Has to remind the waitress about crackers on the table. Food chucked on the plate, food didn’t come out at the same time on any course. Simply lack of details , no butter or lemon on prawn cocktails. Hard overcooked hallumi fries. Over cooked veg, tasteless veg wellington - for saying this is a “special” is was like something out of ice land !! Tomato sauce was awful , tangy and watery! (See image) Nearly £15 for this ! Steaks not cooked as asked and given 2 small steaks not the size of one as stated on the menu. Bar staff tried their hardest but couldn’t give discount for this over all BAD experience such a shame as our family love it here as it holds many dear memories….Very very disappointing and such a shame. Don’t go safe your money.! You’re better off eating at home. I wish we had. As now we won’t get this time back. The whole reason for this family meal was because we won’t be together at Christmas this year. Left a very very sour taste in our mouths!! Such an unacceptable and unenjoyable experience. Never again!!!

When the menu states with green leaves that’s it out of a bag NO tomato, onion, cucumber as a normal salad that you would expect very disappointed

Astonishing. Love coming here for the steak & onion rings after a few balls on the range. Really good steak. Usually great staff! Arrived today, went to order the steak, with as usual, mash instead of chips. Haven’t got mash, was the reply. Oh. Okay. Then I noticed on the specials board was Beef & mash. I pointed this out. No, no mash said the server. Oh? You’ve ran out? I asked. No, there’s no button for mash. Pardon? No button to add mash. THERE’S NO BUTTON TO ADD MASH. Well, can’t you just call through to the kitchen? (Literally behind the bar) I always swap my chips for mash. No, he replied. There’s no button. They won’t do it. Stunned. Is this really what we’ve become? Cannot function unless there’s a BUTTON!!!! No verbal communication!! And just in case someone suggests the member of staff may be new, there were other staff in the bar who heard the whole charade and could have assisted him at any point. Unbelievable.

We booked for a family meal of 18 celebrating my Mother in laws 80th birthday, We were told when booking the meal we wouldn’t all be allowed to sit together, really don’t understand why because there was plenty of room. The food was ok

We turned up on the off chance of getting a table for seven, we had five different main courses all were beautiful and freshly cooked you definately get what you pay for. Staff were friendly and a nice environment will be going again soon. Will also be having a go on the pitch and putt first next time 😃

Been going to this place for Sunday Lunch (Carvery) for over 15 years and usually it is very good value for very good quality food but after Covid it has changed. We feel we have been short changed and this is why : 1. The cost has increased by 50% (now £14 were it used to be £10) 2. The offering given was very short of satisfying : dried biscuit like stuffing discs / sorryful looking dried cabbage / parsnips that appears to be wanting some sort of life or even to look like a parsnip / what is supposed to be Cauliflower Cheese may as well had been a soup & as for the roast potatoes well they were like eating a tortoise shell with a leather lining. There was a highlight - the exit leaving the table with those tortoise shells left on the plate. All in all, we will not be returning, not only for the price of the meal but the poor standard of food is not something that will encourage customers returning. That will teach us for trying to keep local business going ☹️

Electronic devices now disallowed in bar which precludes our entire family, unless we apparently rent office space or a meeting room. Also no celebration cakes, balloons or any celebration materials allowed so went to Risley Park instead where we were made to feel really welcome.

Attended 60th birthday party 11th May and had a wonderful evening. There were 30 guests who all received their meals in a timely manner by very friendly, professional staff.The food was wonderful and all dishes were presented as ordered. The food on the whole was good.I like my meat sliced nice and thin.My mistake was not checking out the joints first. I asked for beef and turkey. We have eaten at this restaurant many times over the last decade and have always found that the food and service has been consistently very good. The staff were friendly and helpful in the taking of our order with the starters arriving quickly with warm bread on the side, always enjoyable. The main courses were more than adequate in size with the mixed grill, chicken and steak dishes being juicy and tender, not dry and leathery. The fish dish was also of a high standard. We felt the service was very good and that this offered value for money.

We arranged to have my Fathers wake in the room upstairs on the 25th August 2017 it has taken me this long to write this review because of the terrible time we were going through with my Fathers unexpected death.

Been to Trent Lock Golf Club for the last 3 years with friends for a pre Christmas dinner so naturally we booked again as it has always been ok. However, this year was different. Food not a patch on previous years and because you now have to pre-order more like a fast chain restaurant with the courses coming quickly one after the other. Starter was ok but the main course, 2 bits of chicken, minute mushrooms in a sauce (all 3 of them), one roast potato and a dozen green beans, not exactly gourmet cooking. Dessert was treacle tart, or so I was led to believe, where the treacle was I have no idea, probably still in the tin. Service has gone downhill too. Very disappointing and won't be booking again.

First time we had ever visited this venue. A group of 9 for a girls night out. Expected mass produced tinsel and turkey with the usual disco to follow. What a fantastic night, food lovely, staff were all fabulous. Natalie Black as Adele was a true professional and would see her again. Disco chap kept the dance floor full and happy. Overall experience was very good. Waiting staff efficiently served the specials food, and those who had carvery enjoyed their choices. The Locks restaurant is a comfortable setting and overlooks a garden and some of the golf course.

A lovely venue in a nice setting with great service and a carvery meal for about 30 people was enjoyed by all of us.

Went to lock reastaurants ordered a simple cheesy chip cob, first attempt no cheese decimated cob handful of chips. Returned the food second time same chips new cob just melted some cheese over the top. Chips luke warm charged circa £4 for the food appuling quality.

A couple of weeks ago we held out twin daughters 21 st birthday celebrations in the function room at Trent Lock. Our guests ranged in age from 12 to 80 and had travelled from all over the country to celebrate with us. They were not disappointed. The venue was excellent. From the beautifully set tables to the twinkling fairy light ceiling everywhere looked amazing. The balcony, with its' outdoor seating and lights were a welcome addition to those needing to get away from the party for a rest! The food was amazing and we received many texts, cards and e mails afterwards complimenting us on it. The hosting and all of the staff was great, we didn't have to think about anything as they ran the event for us. We would definiejty recommend this venue to anyone wanting a party, wedding or similar. Thank you very much for a fabulous evening Trent Lock.

We visited here today for a Sunday roast. I have taken a picture of the menu , the food was nice for starters we had salmon parcels, soup and ham hock.

Food was excellent as always. My steak was cooked perfectly. Chips tasted amazing. Only thing that stopped it being 5 stars was there didnt seem to be any difference between all 3 steaks we had, well done looked exactly like medium. Could be a few more chips on the plate aswell

This Golf and Country Club is open to the public. Nice, large bar area, good for morning coffee. Had a family Sunday lunch for 17 here in June, with most of us opting for the Carvery Sunday lunch. The restaurant was busy, with a number of family parties so seating was a little tight at the table. The food is what one would expect from a carvery but a good coice of roasts and vegetables.The garden area was delightful and the younger members enjoyed the Pirate themed crazy golf.

Booked for my family (15 of us) for the Sunday lunch. Have to admit the carvery wasn't as good compared to previous visits. The chef seemed unhelpful, the vegetables were limited and the whole experience seemed totally disorganised. The service was slow and spasmodic. Starters and desserts didn't arrive and it was all to easy to blame the back room staff but the front line staff seemed not to care or be helpful. I'm afraid it will be a long time before we go back there unless there is a drastic change of management and organisation.

Lovely bar dining area, tables well spaced out, clean and very good decoration with decent background music. Breakfast was very good, ample portion, good ingredients, tasty and washed down with a good pot of tea all at a very reasonable price. Service was welcoming, friendly and quick.

Myself and my family came to this establishment to celebrate my Auntie's birthday. We were shown to our table by a young girl that looked like a fairly new member of staff, she was very quiet. She took our drinks and food order (there was seven of us in total and we all ordered starters and mains). When our starters came out only five came out which we thought was odd, the last two were only the soup of the day and we thought that those would have come out first so we waited and waited for them to be brought to us. (Just to point out the fact that they had plenty of staff to see to all of their customers and they weren't busy at all -there was only one other full table in the restaurant.) By this point we had all finished our starters and the soups still hadn't come, so my Auntie went up to the waiters and waitress' that were just standing around doing nothing and told them that we were waiting on two more starters that we had ordered. None of the staff came up to us to check if everything was alright with our starters which would have been one of the opportunities to notice that not all of the starters had come out to our table. Also none of the staff came to apologise whilst we waited for the soups. When the soups finally came the waitress apologised and blamed it on the chef for misreading the check. So when our main course came out my Auntie ordered the salmon which was supposed to come out with potatoes, it came without any. My uncle then went up to complain again, by this point you can imagine how upset and angry we were about the service. By the time that the potatoes came out my Auntie had already finished her meal and the waitress snapped as she said 'there's your potatoes' which we all thought was very rude and disrespectful. For saying that this was my Auntie's birthday, the restaurant was extremely quiet and the staff were rude and obviously not well trained we shall not be returning here again.

Have been going to this restaurant for many years. Food is always good and fresh. The restaurant serves both bar food and also Al a Carte and Table a Dote in the main restaurant. Staff are pleasant and service is good. This is a good place to relax and dine in pleasant surroundings. Also an excellent place to have a function. Well recommended

Myself and my family have been here for the last few days for Mother's Day and it has been amazing, this year was a disappointment, the starters were fine but the carvery not so! I got glared at when I asked for an extra Yorkshire pudding for my son! Which were terrible anyway, I wasn't allowed a slice of a joint that looked much better than the other even though it had been started, the cheese sauce on the cauliflower cheese was fake cheese sauce not real cheese, the gravy was watery and the whole meal was tepid! Plus every other year we have been given a beautiful plant as a Mother's Day gift but nothing this year! Not impressed and won't be returning next year-such a shame.

So then, where do I start, firstly I ordered a steak pie, and hidden within the pie was a bright blue elastic band, when I told the waiter/barman he took it back and said it was meant to be on !!!! OK !! I SAID IT WAS INSIDE THE PIE...Great customer service, when the second pie came out the meat was completely different and tough!! I sent it back and asked for a refund, they didn't offer and compensation for this just a very lame apology... I will never go back there again.If I hadn't realised it was inside my pie, it could have been fatal,

Relaxed drink in the comfortable lounge before the meal. Was never rushed. Beautiful restaurant. Service was good. Food was excellent except for the garlic prawns to start which seemed to have no garlic in them. Staff were exceptional. Relaxed coffee and drinks afterwards. Last people in there but still not rushed. Very pleasant evening.

They had few problems today hence 4 marks instead of 5. food quality was excellent as per usual - Carvery - though we did have to queue today due to a potential staffing shortage but as always [yes been here before] this was an excellent meal and whilst the puddings are limited in choice the quality is difficult to beat. We were here for a family birthday meal! There is generally a nice ambiance about the place with everyone being polite and helpful. Despite a large party of us we never felt squashed in, plenty of elbow room and plenty of space for highchair and baby at the table. i think they dealt with a difficult day and circumstances very professionally. Service not quite up to the usual high standard but everyone is entitled to be below par once in a while. And i would still thoroughly recommend this place to one and all!

We purchased vouchers on groupon for crazy golf at sawley golf course. A great adventure golf course for all ages. After, we thought we'd try out the restaurant. We're so glad we did.Excellent food and great restaurant. Really good choice of Starters, Mains and desserts. The restaurant had a family area to eat too with a pool table.

We visited the Restaurant for a meal for quite a large group. The service was excellent and the young serving staff were really polite and responsive. The food was also lovely and well presented and offered a good selection. A little more variety may have been better with the desserts but that is a minor tiny issue considering how good everything else was! Thank you very much for a lovely event :)

Just returned from taking a group of friends for lunch at the golf club. Waiter came and asked if everything was ok with our meal to which one of our party told him that her meal was cold. He went away and never came back ? Someone else complained about the size of a peiçe of acheese cake costing £6 and also nothing done about it. The manager criticizes customers for not complaining at the time instead of later but clearly he needs to address the situation with kitchen and bar staff .What terrible training here or get the chef to bring the meals out himself ! And don't ask if our meals are ok if u arnt prepared to do anything about it if the answer is no?

The rump stake we had at Locks Bar of Trent lock golf club was superb. We have eaten here before but this was as good as anywhere at treble the price. Great value and would recommend it to anyone

just had lunch at the Trent lock Golf club we Had the 2 courses for £ 10 -95 the menu is good we had Liver pate and Chicken in garlic And rosemary With Sugar snap peas and dauphinoise potatoes ,It was absolutely great ,The sauce ( Brandy and Mushroom ) was very tasty Great value and very well presented , Staff very pleasant nice décor( I will be back)

Had a lovely afternoon here. Food was lovely and good value. Coffee was excellent. Staff very polite.

We enjoyed a super meal in Locks restaurant then disco dancing in the bar and exciting fireworks at midnight. Thanks to all staff for a fantastic start to 2017

This was ok. We paid £37.50 for xmas dinner and entertainment. The food was good but even though I didn't have soup for a starter I wasn't allowed a bread roll. Bit mean I thought. The Elton John lookalike was good. Good evening all round, would go again.

We often have Sunday lunch at Locks in the restaurant. It's a good value carvery with optional starters and sweets. Booking is advised at busy times of the year otherwise they usually accommodate those turning up en spec.A good choice of bar food is also available.

Good food, good service and all in pleasant surroundings. I would recommend. Very busy for lunchtime so I would say you must book to make sure of your place

This is an excellent place to dine, the food is not pub grub; it's well cooked, not particularly cheap, but not expensive either, just well cooked. Decor is good - helps to getaway - better in the summer as it is by the Lock.

This is the first time we had been to the Locks Restaurant and we were very impressed with the food, service and ambiance. Our friends rang to see if we needed to book and were advised it was not necessary. We ate in the family dining area but it certainly did not feel like the normal family area we have experienced in other restaurants.Although the area was large it was well laid out with different areas for eating or just sitting having a drink. The menu was excellent with plenty of choice and daily specials board with a good offer if you ate Tuesday to Friday . We will cerainly be revisiting this Restaurant.

We would like to thank the management and staff for making our Ruby wedding such a happy occasion last Sunday in Locks restaurant. Ken Davenport you kept your promise the food, service and atmosphere were all perfect. My friend with Coeliac disease was specially pleased with how well you catered for her with gluten free soup, bread rolls and gravy to make life easy for her. We were so happy with the party that four of us booked for New Year's Eve and we look forward to seeing you again in Locks Restaurant.

Can anyone please explain the reason for the change to Locks Restaurant. For many years we have used it for all our special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, funeral, Christmas and New Year. On a recent Sunday we were a bit disappointed that it no longer has that luxury of table cloths and linen serviettes. We have also found the steaks in the bar being too well done even when ordered as medium/rare. The Sunday beef joint was also on the well done side. Staff were just as helpful and friendly as ever and the food is good value for money but it lacks that special touch that made it such a popular venue. We have heard similar comments from other regular customers so thought it was time to give the management time to reconsider the new style. We have a function booked in the near future and for the first time since the club opened are a little anxious about what to expect.There is no offence meant by these comments as we have enjoyed too many good times at Trent Lock golf club but it would be nice to understand the changes.

I went with my daughter for lunch and was very disappointed. This is the second time we have been in the last couple of months and after having a very good lunch the first time, we expected the same on our visit today. Unfortunately my food was awful. My daughter ordered the fishfinger bap, which was absolutely fine. I ordered ham and relish on a wholemeal bloomer. It arrived nicely presented but minus the relish, which was easily remedied unfortunately that was the least of my problem. The bread was dry and hard near the crusts and the crisps that were served with it were soft, obviously from a packet that had been opened a while. I spoke to a member of staff who was polite and when I told him that the bread was dry and that I thought it had been defrosted in the microwave he agreed with me that, that was probably the reason why it was dry. I asked him if I could have it in a bap instead if the bread wasn't fresh. I also told him about the crisps and said don't bother giving me any more, I didn't want them. He came back with it in a soft bap, which was fine, but with the soft crisps still on the plate. It really is a shame that on this occasion that the food didn't come up to scratch. It is a nice place to sit and relax, but unless the food improves, I don't think we'll be back.

Busy bar plenty of atmosphere, superb Burgerr and chips, real ale landlords, could not go wrong for that quick bite after knocking a bag of balls down the driving range.Looks a lovely restaurant will try.

lunch in the garden on bank holiday Monday was lovely.The menu suited every appetite.You could have a full scale three course ranging from steak or fish and vegetarian to burghers or just nibbles.The choice of small or regular size portions.Busy as it was the staff were very helpful .The whole experience was a joy

Service was fantastic. Food was very good and presented very well. I had steak which was served to perfection. Atmosphere was relaxed, surroundings very well kept as you would expect for a golf course.

This must be one of my worst meals out.For a start we waited over one hour for a starter. I ordered the roast beef to be medium rare it came very well done. The roast potatoes were Black and very soggy.The vegetables Very overcooked except carrots. When we complained the excuse was a new chef who hadn't cooked there before. As we travelled a long distance we will never be back

Went for an evening meal with my wife. I ordered Cod and chips. The Cod was terrible and when I said to the waitress it tasted as bad as it looks. She agreed it looked poor and said she would inform the Chef. That was it there was no further discussion and she did not come back to the table.We have been regular visitors to Trent lock golf complex over the years and will still go as the Driving range is very good. However that is the last time we will eat there. They know how to lose customers.

We used to go in most Thursday evenings for a meal and have to say very good, not been for a while and went for lunch on Sunday sat down and looked at the menu while my husband was getting the drinks,he asked could he leave it open as we were going to order a meal to be told he would have to leave his card behind the bar .. Really ! Not happening . He went back to order two steaks to be told can't order off that menu so must be able to order off the second menu on the table , double checked with staff to be told can't order off that menu either, couldn't find anything on the menu to say week days only.If we had known it was calvary only we wouldn't have ordered any drinks which we left as there was no point in stopping.

Thirteen of us sat down at 630 ordered by 7pm and served by 7.30. Lovely food and very helpful and polite staff. Our waitress, Beth, was just love!y, so efficient and pleasant.

went for a days golf, and we eat breakfast and late lunch, food was good quality and warm, good prices, including the beer, will visit again if in the area.

Four of us went for birthday meal three of them where ok with their meal one was steak which cost £15 all you got small chips one tomarto and few peas it looked like a child portion as I wouldn't recommend steaks nothing on the plate still hungry after Go for the mixed grill only £13 you get more for your money and a bigger plate

First was a birthday in May. Two steaks came out wrong and 2 lasagnes were so tiny and dried up it was embarrassing for the waiter who had to serve them.Fathers day : Told the restaurant was fully booked at 4.50pm, nobody in there?Asked if we could open a tab, yes but only if we left card behind the bar....not a good idea.Asked would it be ok to put two tables together as there are 5 of us and would young lady be able to help us please, at this point she looked to her boss, who i thought she was going to ask permission from and she did no more than ask him if she could go to the toilet!! No help came, I was rather shocked to say the least.Next came the second round of drinks. 1 white wine, 1 red wine, 1 j20 all with ice and a pint please. We've run out of ice is that ok, not really I said, do you have any anywhere else and with attitude grabbed the bucket and went off to fetch some.Finally, five knives and forks were dumped randomly on the table.Like Rammy_10, we too are long standing customers and are sorry to see the drop in standards . Something is very wrong and I'm sorry to say I won't be coming back for a while.

We were given a set meal with limited options, however if your happy with a roast dinner then ok I guess. Just felt a little underwhelming for a special occasion.

We too are regular visitors, actually since it first opened. Recently noticed a drop in standards. Regularly eat here and the biggest disappointment is the light meals in the bar. We often have a jacket potato for Saturday lunch (as well as eating mid week and in the restaurant for family occasions) and you used to get a decent salad on the side, now you get a few leaves 1 slice of cucumber and 2 halves of a cherry tomatoe. To be honest I could get that standard of meal at Asda's cafe. So I think you should stop cutting corners or risk losing your long standing customers.

Recently went to a birthday meal for a large group. Had a fantastic evening and a lovely meal everyone enjoyed it and good service too

Visited for a carvery meal with 30 others for a club annual dinner. A good selection of starters, choice of meats and varied vegetables. Could not fault the food or service. Desserts and coffee to follow and at a reasonable price. Have been a few times now and have not been disappointed.

Poor service, staff that look like they are doing us a favour if they serve us, 3 out of 3 bad meals here on our last visits. Kept going back as we have gone here for years and never had a bad meal so was more than prepared to give a second or third chance. Each time told staff member that collected our plates we were not happy and all we ever got was a sorry !! Bring back the old staff ,polite,friendly and adapt at customer service skills!Shall I give it another go before defecting somewhere else ??
