Stopped for a quick bite and hot drink Lovely friendly lady serving. Extensive menu choices at fair prices. Nice a creamy coffe washed down the wild boar burger just fine.

What a super little find this is! Don’t expect ‘fine dining’. There’s Heinz ketchup or Brown sauce on offer. Your coffee comes in a paper cup, and the only seats are outdoors garden benches. BUT …. There’s a friendly face behind the counter, there’s fantastic fresh cooked fare, and local ingredients are used (The haggis and black-pudding combo is a star), the bacon is delicious, and the ‘Lorne’ (square sausage to those who don’t know) is just superb. We ended up there five times in eight days for a quick ‘recharge’, so yes, we’ll be back … oh yes.

Really great fish and chips - owner took my request to pour curry sauce directly onto my chips (a la mode de Northwich) in her stride. Will be popping down for a haggis special roll first thing tomorrow whilst waiting for the ferry to Fishnish.

Make no mistake- this is not your average snack bar. The bacon rolls are fantastic, the wild boar burgers the best I have ever had, and the fish and chips on a Friday evening rival any of the restaurants which claim to be “the best in Britain”. Friendly service despite being rushed off feet every time we came, we just loved this place!

Nice and convenient but the rolls were pretty average for the price. The egg one was overdone and the bacon one very salty.

We grabbed a takeaway breakfast (bacon rolls and tea) whilst we waited for the ferry to the Isle of Mull. The food was made fresh and to order and its probably one of the best bacon rolls I have ever eaten - it was fab !! Great service from the ladies......I would pop back most weekends if the snack bar was just up the road.

Good carry out tea, even though very cheap, filled rolls tasty, and usually open. Good value and in such a lovely location. Always look forward to getting something snacky here after the 40 min winding drive from Ardgour and the Corran ferry.Lochaline around the harbour is just so lovely.Look out for otters on the ferry crossing as you leave Lochaline itself.

Stayed near here recently, and ended up going for breakfast everyday. From our accommodation we could see when it opened. The lady, who runs this on her own was so nice and friendly. It is in a village called Lochaline situated by the ferry to Fishnish on Mull. Extensive menu and all freshly made when you order. There are toilets beside it. On a Friday there’s takeaway fish & chips at night!

The whole family had something at Liz's Snack Bar while waiting for the ferry. Absolutely delicious. Honestly, this should be a requirement for anyone taking the ferry to Fishnish. The 'Barge Special' was delicious. Portions are generously sized, the service friendly and warm. This is brilliant value. It's a local treat that just hits the spot on a rainy day.

Perfectly situated next to the ferry waiting area. We both had a venison burger whilst waiting for the ferry to Mull to leave. Amazing view over the water! Service with a smile and burger was delicious as well as being reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend!

Had excellent scampi & chips, with plenty of scampi and lovely crisp chips, and a side salad. Serves coffee, tea, herb teas, home made cake, ice cream and a choice of burgers during the day time. On Fridays from 4pm to 7pm the Snack Bar is open with a fish and chip shop type menu. Food is freshly made - one time they made me a roll for lunch in double quick time so that I could catch the ferry.Still open even while the ferry slipway is closed (November 2019).

I stop here all the time as a guide while we wait to get on the ferry to Mull and can't recommend the stop highly enough. It's always clean, Liz is a charming host and I've never had one negative vibe from any of my groups over many years. The food is always well prepared and the coffee/ tea always as one would want. Many thanks!

We stopped here for a quick coffee stop, the food being cooked smelled delicious, but we had unfortunately eaten not long before arriving. I wouldn't normally review a place for just a coffee, however the lady running the place was so friendly that I thought she more than deserved a positive review.

Stopped here late afternoon after visiting Ardtonish gardens. The tea was great; strong and good quality (and we are picky about tea). Home made tiffin the best my daughter had ever (and she is picky about tiffin). Nice chat with the friendly cafe owner and sat out and enjoyed the view. For a small shack this place punches well about its weight. If they have home made cake just order it , it will taste great!

When using the Lochaline/Fishnish ferry, we always try to have breakfast or snack on the way home, depending on the time of day. Venison burgers with the home-made relish are especially good, service is friendly and prices reasonable considering the remoteness of the place. Not sure what to tick in 'when did you travel' box as we use the route quite a lot and a snack from the snack bar is a treat to which we look forward!

The snack bar was run by my B&B; host's mother. I was joining a small group in a people carrier to tour Mull and Iona leaving my own car at the B&B.; I was allowed to leave my bag in the back area of the cafe while I waited hours for the group to arrive. I sat and talked with Liz and the locals who came for the bacon roll and hot drink. It was a centre of village life rivalled only by the local shop and pub. I had wild life features such as an otter brought to my attention. I did purchase a peppermint tea but never was I pushed to buy more. Relaxed is the life style and relaxed I was. Thank you.

For a fine wee feed, whether waiting for the ferry, passing through, or coming ashore from one of the increasing number of yachts visiting, this is a great wee place. You can sit oot if its fine, sit in if it's wet, or take away to home or your car or whatever.

Agree with the other reviews. This is an unlikely place to find at the end of the world. We felt welcomed and in the main enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the cost for the 2 of us. £200 for a snack, breakfast, plate of curry and a bunkhouse bed with no shower and a outside toilet seemed breathtaking expensive. To put this into perspective, we go to a nice hotel each year for a winter break, that's more than we pay per day at the hotel with vastly more civilized amenities. I do understand there are logistics involved at Cape wrath. However for an 'ordinary' local Scottish person I'd be looking to stay at sandwood bay and make a lunch trip to the cafe as I simply can't justify the cost/value. However, it is altogether improbably situated and a must experience if you are doing a long walk. Just be prepae your expectations.

We stayed at Taigh Ailean for our trip to Skye. We also had the opportunity to eat dinner there (Breakfast was included with our stay.) The dinner was so delicious! The view is lovely as you can see the loch from the windows of the bar. All the staff is fantastic and so friendly! I had a great dinner and I would describe it, but the menu changes to suit what is in season and available from the sea. Whatever you get, I guarantee it will be the best! Make sure you call ahead and get a reservation as it fills up quickly. I know that they also have live music, which would be great, but we didn't have any while we were there.
