We searched for this tea shop after seeing a 5 star review- most definitely not - stale cake and scones - awful tea, service ok

Stopped for lunch after a walk on the beach. Lovely homemade food, quiche was really tasty,. Great coffee and cake to finish. Very dog friendly on the terrace. Friendly and welcoming staff

Visiting the Castle we looked for somewhere nice for lunch and this was much better than nice. Food prepared very fresh, lots of good choices and very friendly and accommodating staff. Lovely atmosphere. Well worth it and great value!

We sat for lunch in the courtyard which was a really nice environment. Staff were very pleasant and well set up in the current restrictions. We thoroughly enjoyed a sourdough roll and generous goats cheese salad. Couldn’t leave without trying the delicious cakes too!

I generally find the positives in most places and have to date left very few negative reviews. We ate here on a very busy day, potentially the reason for the disappointing service. However, on arrival we went up to the till to ask if it was order at the counter or table service to be given a very stern "Just grab a menu and find a seat", ok fair enough. Next we popped up to ask if they do a child's menu (perfectly reasonable question), again a very stern response was given "No Just the menu", I get you probably receive this question on a regular basis but there's a way to approach your response. Then to the food, and here is where the restaurant gets 2 instead of 1, the server was very pleasant. We ordered a cheese and chutney sourdough roll, which consisted of a small amount of cheese and 95% chutney, which made the sandwich incredibly sweet.Poor customer service, poor food. Maybe I just visited on the wrong day? Such a shame!

Great coffee and delicious cakes. We went back the next day to try out more cakes. The Bakewell tart and the chocolate orange brownies were fantastic

Been here before and will come again on any visit to Harlech. After climbing the hill to the town, calories are not a problem having burned off 1000 on the way up. Tuck into their gorgeous cakes and scones. Enjoy sitting outside with gift shops surrounding seating area. Not the cheapest but quality costs a little extra. (Only a little extra). Don't be put off

Just stopped for coffee and cake. Lovely spot, safe seating, good range of cakes, friendly staff, what more could you want?

We ordered a panini, pesto, mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes. Served with a fresh coleslaw and salad. I ordered one and requested an extra set of cutlery. That’s absolutely no problem, we’ll serve it on two plates came back.A very professional attitude complimented by exceptional quality food. Thank you, a delicious light lunch on a sunny day. I can only wish you success, each member of your team deserves it.

Such a nice clean cafe with excellent quality food and drinks, fresh bread amazing home made scotch eggs, I came back they were so good. We eat out quite a bit and I love cooking and the one thing that makes a decent cafe is the noticeable quality of the food, the menu is only small how ever we realise the less on the menu often reflects the better quality food and more time for prep and faster turn round of fresh food so less chance of items being held longer. The staff were so lovely and helpful, I appreciate the recyclable cutlery it's a good idea. We will be back.

We always visit this cafe when we are in Harlech because the food, coffee and staff are so nice! This time we had carrot cake and Victoria sponge and two lovely cappuccinos. The service is excellent.

We popped in for coffee and a snack after visiting the castle and sat in the courtyard in the sunshine. We both had a cheese scone and it was the best I’ve ever had - large, moist and wonderfully cheesy. I had a macchiato too but it wasn’t too my liking. Lovely staff.

Excellent service - lovely staff, friendly and professional. Friend was gluten free and they went out of their way to ensure she got a safe and delicious sandwich. Nicest most delicious tuna baguette I’ve ever had! Nice side salad surprise comes with the sandwich. Will definitely be back!

Stopped here for a coffee and a sandwich and everything was very good. Spent a leisurely time sipping coffee and watching people wander buy in the courtyard. Sandwich was excellent as was the coffee. Happily recommend

Due to Covid19 restrictions we sat in the courtyard bathed in sunshine and enjoyed a delicious cream tea. The staff outlined the measures they’d taken to ensure our safety and that of the staff. Tables were more than two metres apart and hand sanitiser was provided. The coffee they use is roasted locally and was really good and the scones were fresh and substantial. Local jam and cream was also delicious and we noted that when a table was vacated it was immediately cleaned and sanitised. Staff were so lovely and a bonus on that day was our food bill was halved due to the eat out scheme through August. If you’re visiting Harlech please give this little independent cafe that specialises in home made/ local produce, you won’t regret it.

Visited on several occasions for a morning coffee stop and for a couple of late lunches. The staff are welcoming and very efficient and do a great job of keeping the place sanitised. Sandwiches were very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the fruit scones.

Friendly staff. Had a really nice tasting cappuccino and a delicious scone with jam and cream. All single use condiments and equipment due to covid. Tables socially distanced. In centre of Harlech main street set back in a lovely courtyard. Would definitely recommend!

We ordered cappuccinos and americanos and they were really good. The cakes looked amazing and the staff were all very friendly! Only negative was they were a bit slow but only due to waiting on a delivery of more cups. Would go back!

Once again when on holiday in the area we visited several times.Just coincided with easing of lockdown and staff were very efficient and organised.Almond croissants were exceptional as was toated goats cheese sandwich(best ever)Top quality food.Will will return.

Great coffee and sublime cakes (we got different types to share between the three of us and still could not pick a winner! Add to that warm, friendly and efficient service. Why pass it by - you would have to be mad!!

We went to Harlech to visit the castle but after travelling a couple of hours to get there decided to try to find somewhere to eat lunch. As it was a Monday in the off season the town was quite quiet and the first couple of places we found were closed. Luckily we stumbled across the Llew Glas Cafe. It was very unassuming but had a score of 5 on the door. On entering the cafe we were welcomed by the girls working there and told to take a seat and they brought us drinks menus. The food menu was on the call board and was not over complicated but catered for different tastes. There were four of us dining and we each found something we wanted to eat. Quiche, soup, Toastie and Welsh rarebit. None of us were disappointed. We also each ordered a hot chocolate, milk, white and dark, and were very happy with our choices. The food was delicious and the drinks were indulgent. We finished off with Bakewell tart and Victoria sponge both of which looked and tasted homemade. If ever in Harlech again I would definitely visit this cafe again. The entire experience was enjoyable. Good food and drinks, a warm welcome and a very clean environment.

Brief call in to great warm welcome on a chilly December day. Just coffee and cake for me but all the food looked marvellous.

Lovely quaint cafe on the Main Street in Harlech. Nice friendly welcome, lovely sandwiches and coffees. Baquettes served with a good portion of quality mixed salad and crisps.

Called in today for brew and little bits both very nice staff are greet you with a warm welcome we would go back next time we are passing the area

With me being nearly sixty and having a massive sweet tooth I have probably eaten my body weight in cake many times over and I do like a piece of Bakewell tart this was by far the best I have ever eaten it was lovely I want to say moist even though that word is banned in most places now .The coffee was excellent and the ladies behind the counter were very friendly it's just a shame I live 240 miles away .. Got to be massive thumbs up from me ..

My husband and I were visiting Harlech and stayed in Harlech for the week. We had coffee in this cafe and was not dissappointed We both had cake to. I had gluten free brownie,it was delicious. We would go back again.

As periodic visitors to Harlech we often go to Llew Glas for a coffee or light lunch . You are always greeted with a smile , food is all freshly prepared and the cakes are to die for . ( The latest entry into the best cake competition is a bakewell tart whose texture and taste would win any bake off . Call ahead if you need !) It is no wonder that even in bad weather the establishment is always full . It deserves its success.

The homemade broccoli and stilton soup was the best we have ever tasted but unfortunately the half of white roll that came with it was tasteless. Delicious latte in a proper latte glass. The scones were ok but were a bit crumbly and we were not keen on the icing sugar sprinkled on top. A cosy cafe and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

We went here looking for proper coffee, of the standard that would satisfy an Italian, and this place certainly does it - not many in the area would do so it's a definite recommendation. Or if it's a very Welsh afternoon tea you are after then they'll do that well too with very nice cups and saucers. Much enjoyed in this rather popular coastal honeypot.

Amazing scones & they are definitely worth it! Staff lovely and cute little outside area to sit with the dog. Me & husband had lovely Cappuccinos and Cherry Scones. They were huge & very tasty! Would definitely recommend

A little Gem of a find a short walk from the castle, not much on the outside suggests just how wonderful this place is on the inside or the quality of food they offer. The menu is not extensive, but each item we ordered was delicious, there is no set children's menu, but they did offer us a half portion, which was just brilliant. I had the ham and leek quiche which came with some delicious homemade coleslaw and crisps. The cakes on offer were just too tempting too and were equally delicious. would not hesitate to recommend.

A pretty little cafe in a lovely little courtyard which will please lovers of great coffee. The scones live up to their reputation and the cherry cola cake is inspired. Great service and generous portions make it well worth the inconvenience of a few wasps who also seem to have read the justifiably excellent reviews received by this thoroughly excellent little cafe. Cannot recommend more highly.

In my opinion this is the best cafe in Harlech and probably for miles around too. Why? Because the food is great, the service impeccable with some of the most engaging staff I've ever come across and I get around. Best cakes and scones, lovely soups and salads and pretty much anything you order is guaranteed top class. Can't recommend enough.

It was a wet day when we called in, so we managed to get a table inside. The food was 10/10 and the service was very good. I’d recommend this this place for a good lunch before climbing up the stairs in Harlech castle. My quiche was superb & a proper pot of tea too

We had a lovely lunch sat outside in the sunshine. Really tasty freshly prepared food and the staff were very friendly.

Probably the best value lunch ever. Absolutely delicious baguette bacon, cheese and cranberry with small salad for £6.99. My friend had the soup which was lovely apparently. The owner a young girl, friendly and attentive who has learnt welsh ( and that is no mean feat!) Lovely surroundings, very busy. I did tell her a couple of times that I was most impressed with the food! She complemented me on my necklace! Diolch yn fawr!

Love this cafe, came here 4 years ago when on holiday in Wales, since we’re back for another holiday in Wales we made a special visit.

The scones are delicious.!! I rank them as some of the best Ive tried.! I make and teach in patisserie/cake design. You need to pop in and try them.! The coffee is very good too.!

Lovely little cafe for teas, coffees, and light lunches. Had a ploughmans with 3 types of cheese (cheddar, perl wen, and perl las) all of which were really good and flavoursome. The home made coleslaw was fantastic as well.

Lovely cafe with tables outside. Nice food. More staff than customers that day ( which can’t be helped) However a few of the staff were just chatting amongst themselves and with 2 local women instead of clearing tables etc. One young girl was lovely and came as soon as she realised our table wasn’t cleared from previous customers. The older lady didn’t seem too bothered. Two teabags in the teapot for one ( which is great!) so asked for extra hot water. I would love it if all cafes asked if customers wanted extra hot water. I always ask for extra hot water and a lot of other people do too. Apart from that it’s a great cafe

Visited here with my daughter after a trip to the castle. We managed to get the last table. Obviously a popular spot at lunchtime and can see why. The scones with jam and clotted cream were very tasty. Customer service was excellent. The staff were attentive and very friendly.

First visit with 2 friends. Ordered 2 x toasties and ham baguette and hot drinks. Drinks came quickly but the hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream was all the outside of the cup. The food took over 20 minutes to arrive - we had finished our drinks by then. The baguette was good but the "toasties" were 2 pieces of toast placed, NOT sealed, sealed together so the blue cheese filling was not melted and te filling kept falling out. Given the standard of the food and length of time to serve it I thought the price of £26.30 was expensive.

Went here with 2 young kids for lunch and very glad we did! The staff were so friendly and accommodating and helpful with getting food that suited the kids. The soup was delicious, the quiche lovely and a very generous size slice, and we all enjoyed some cake to finish. The kids enjoyed the tray of toy food including knitted tea set we found on the shelf too!

After visiting Harlech castle we needed something to eat already checked this place on here, it didn't disappoint really helpful and very friendly staff we both had the ploughmans couldn't fault anything highly recommended.

Good tea and a good selection of cakes though nothing available for gluten free on day we visited. Sheltered sunny court yard seating at front but narrow road meant also traffic passing so not quiet.

Visited Llew Glas after a visit to Harlech Castle. We were a party of four ageing from 5 to 79 years.

Les scones sont bien solides et fermes comme on les aime. A déguster avec la crème et la confiture de fraises. Service jeune et très souriant. Vraiment pas cher et ouvert toute l'année.

Visited this café after the castle. The castle café was expensive and had poor choice of food. A little walk away is Llew Glas a lovely little café with home cooked food, a very friendly atmosphere with staff who cannot do enough for you. Had a lovely lunch and the staff played with our baby making the whole experience stress free.

Visited in a party of four, plus one dog. We hadn't even taken our seats at one of the outside tables before the cheerful, welcoming waitress appeared with menus and details of the specials.

On our last day in Harlech we decided that we would visit No1 recommended for a quick coffee and bite to eat before heading home for our 5 + hour journey. As we walked in we were greated with a 'we don't serve cooked breakfast' to which we acknowledged as we had already checked the menu.

Stopped off for tea and cake 🍰 🧁 All homemade and delicious. Daily soups and specials. Great olde worlde style and charm and lovely friendly team to make you welcome. Highly recommended

This was prettty much the only place open in Harlech in November, so lucky it was so nice. We started off with tea and cake, then decided the lunch menu was so good for veggies, came out of the castle and had lunch there. I had a cheese ploughmans with extra cheese mmm. Very tasty soup, although could have come with bread. The friendly staff said we were welcome to wait for our train there.

Stopped for a coffee and a scone. Both were exceedingly good. Service was excellent (Lady from Wirral). Seating inside and outside (we had dog so sat outside as no dogs inside). Outside tables/chairs comfortable and we still had table service (fast).

We visited on a wet & dreary Saturday afternoon & received a warm welcome. There was plenty of choice on the menu & specials board & we chose tea and cakes and the cakes were delicious and home made with a lovely pot of tea. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive & we will be back the next time we visit Harlech.

Felt peckish on our Harlech visit, then just around a quiet corner there was Llew Glas (Blue Lion) Cafe.

I'm so glad we stopped at Llew Glas. We received a very warm welcome and asked if we would like to see the menu. I ordered a tuna and cheese pannini with salad garnish crisps and coleslaw, my other half ordered the ploughmans. WOW the food arrived and looked lovely and tasted even better. Their homemade coleslaw is divine. The cheeses served with the ploughmans were very tasty Welsh cheeses, with great quality ham, pickles, crisps, salad, coleslaw and best of all a cheese scone. I have never had a better scone, light, tasty and huge. The staff are all so polite and friendly and everything is handmade. Well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

A lovely eatery with well mannered and helpful waitresses serving a good selection of food and snacks with great portions. The Poughman’s is a must!

We visited Harlech Castle late on, on a Tuesday afternoon and then decided that we needed a brew before we headed back to Llanferfechan.

While is Harlech we tried to find a little place to eat and found this little gem in a small square tucked back from the main road. Small cafe with 6 or 7 tables for seating inside and further tables outside in the square. Nice small menu and special board. Very friendly family run cafe where nothing is a problem. I had a roast beef sandwich, 6 year old had the ham sandwich and my husband had a sandwich. They were all tasty and very good. We followed this up with some lovely homemade cakes which looked amazing and tasted excellent. Overall I highly recommend this cafe and am glad that we stopped it. If we are ever back in the area we will be going back.

Llew Glas biedt geen creamtea combinatie aan. Dus dan maar thee besteld met daarbij een scone met cream en jam. De scone is heerlijk en groot, alleen jammer dat de jam uit een potje komt en de cream uit een kuipje.

When we visited Harlech a lot of the places to get a drink and something to eat were shut, luckily LLew Glas wasn't. We had hot drinks and cake and it was lovely, just what we needed. Friendly staff.

Really good little cafe. Scones and cakes are beautiful. Friendly staff and very clean. Was packed out when we went in, so you may have to wait for a table. Worth waiting though.

An amazing family run cafe that offers home made food i had a welsh ploughman’s with a cheese scone, my wife the dily special quiche both were delicious. The tea was fresh and leaf which was superb too. Id definitely recommend

We had a lovely lunch here. The baked goats cheese and salad was a lovely taste. The ploughman’s lunch as tasty and the cheese scone with it was huge. The cakes were delicious All meals were large and tasty and they catered for my gluten allergy. Very friendly staff, made us feel so welcome.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch in this little cafe, conveniently situated on Harlech High Street. The homemade smoked mackerel pate was excellent. The menu had more variety than most cafes in the area and there was a good choice of drinks too. The cafe is bright and cheerful and the toilet was clean.

Dropped in here for lunch on a very sunny warm day. Even on a weekday it was quite popular. Staff were very friendly and knew the menu inside out so choosing was easy! Food was quick and very tasty, atmosphere was chilled and could easily sit and chat without raising your voice!

After a great day in the castle my wife needed tea and scones. I had a slice of chocolate cake and some water. She had a pot of tea and a huge scone with loads of cream and jam. The tea room is lovely, clean, the staff friendly. There is plenty of room and we enjoyed our visit very much. I would happily go again and see what else there is to eat and drink.

Stopped for a bit of like lunch after walk around Harlech. My wife is Gluten, Dairy, Sugar and Egg Free, this can prove extremely difficult when out and want something to eat. The staff here were really helpful and went that bit extra to ensure my wife could have a good meal. Would definitely recommend the food here and the coffee is also excellent. We wish more and places were as accommodating as this with dietary intolerance. Thank you, we will certainly see you again

This cafe is great, we had 2 tuna and one cheddar cheese sandwich. Plus a pot of tea for two and a soft drink.

Me and my partner were in Harlech checking out the castle and having a mooch around when I got the sudden craving for meat betwixt 2 slices of break. These guys nailed it. First off a genuine friendly welcome as we walked in. As someone who also works in customer service, i can spot a fake smile from a mile off and there where none here. The price was cheap and meal was huge. A massive ham butty, crisps, salad. The hi-light for me though was the home made coleslaw. As somewhat of a 'slaw' enthusiast I was keen to try and was not disappointed. The whole experience was awesome and the guys working nailed it! If I'm ever over that way again I know where I'll be going for some grub!!

Me and my husband stopped off for lunch today after a very hot ride on our motorbikes and were warmly welcomed by the really friendly staff. Had the best homemade "green"soup and other half had the plans wen sandwich which was loaded with filling and both really good value for money. Atmosphere was great, felt like we were round someone's house for lunch. Will make a point of coming back

Lovely lunch with huge portions! Definitely should have shared a ploughman’s! More expensive than just a butty by the beach at £40 for 3 adults and a toddler but totally worth every penny. Friendly service too.

Brilliant friendly service, and delicious Victoria Sponge! Real proper buttercream filling ... Mary Berry would be proud. After a visit to the castle definitely recommend stopping here for tea and cake.

Called here for a sandwich and a cuppa after playing golf at Royal St David's. Have used in the past and will use again when i'm next in town. Never ever disappointed.

The staff were so welcoming on a warm Spring day after a hike up the steep castle hill. The rooms were cosy and quaint and the food fresh and tasty. I particular liked the assorted Welsh cheeses.

I have just visited with my 2 sisters for a birthday treat and what a lovely surprise. Great hospitality and the food was delicious. The cheese scones were sensational and the goats cheese salad with walnuts and honey was really good. We will definately visit again.

Just visited this little cafe for lunch , my niece rang ahead and paid for a voucher for three of us to spend for a 60 th birthday lunch.

Stopped here in the sun on Monday lunchtime. Fantastic home made soups sandwiches and quiche, cakes and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff obviously enjoy being in the hospitality business. A perfect ten !! Thanks for a superb lunch an unexpected bonus.
